Just what we needed.

A private cottage with a hot tub to destress for a few days.

Could do with 1 of these private cottages.

Nice quiet and peaceful with a convenient bus service from York train station or hull. The X45 X46 and x47 Drop you outside and then 5 minutes walk. Already booked my next stay. Quite busy cottage. Everybody seems to want to stay here. Definitely worth travelling from Queensbury Bradford west Yorkshire. Looking forward to coming back. Can't wait. Thanks Mike. I was looking at your balloon outside when I got your text message giving me direction instructions. I use first buses journey planner on their website for travelling.

We had a fab Girlie's weekend.

House is gorgeous, spacious and immaculate. The owner Mike went above beyond when we got lost on arrival.....he escorted us back to the cottage. Definately will be returning.

Our second stay at this property.

Walking into the house it felt like we had never been away. We were a party of 6 adults and there was plenty of space for everybody to enjoy the place. The hot tub is fab for relaxing and was used constantly. There is a lot of outdoor space for everyone to enjoy too. A plus for us is that this property appears private and not overlooked so you can enjoy yourself without worrying about people disturbing you or being disturbed. The local Chinese Resteraunt was a hit with everybody and just a 5 minute walk away. Small things that we would change include swapping the super king bed into the bedroom with the ensuite and having a tv in that room and more glasses for adult drinks (we love our cocktails but luckily brought our own glasses with us this time!). None of these things are big issues and did not detract from our stay. There is road noise but this is only to be expected from a cottage on a main road and it did not detract from our stay. The owner communicated well with us regarding a minor issue. We would definatly stay here again and indeed hope to do so in the future.

An absolutely amazing stay.

The cottage was very well thought out. Very spacious, clean and inviting. The entire stay was so relaxing. Everything was clean and tidy. The beds and sofas were very comfortable. We had ample towels for our stay and a lovely welcoming gift on arrival. There were plenty of utensils too. The garden had plenty of furniture and the hot tub was a delight. Even the local wildlife paid us a warming visit. The entire stay was so wonderful, we are definitely coming back again. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. Very clean and lovely place to stay I would highly recommend

For a calming (hah) 4-night escape with wife and 3 kids just before Christmas 2025, Wayside had a few tasteful festive decorations.

The kids found and made the most of the chess/chequers and bagatelle sets. Hot tub was excellent, lovely and warm, simple instructions on a plaque on the tub, and very soothing after long Christmas outings on foot. We would love to stay again.

Fabulous time for a group of 6 ladies at this property.

It hit every requirement we had. The property is well sized with good outdoor space. It is private with nice high hedges and not overlooked. We have stayed in other properties which after arriving were found to have CCTV cameras which were not mentioned, this one did not (not that we had anything to hide, it's just annoying when you don't know who is watching you, especially when there is a hot tub). Everybody in the group have agreed that we would be keen to return here. There are 2 supermarkets very close by too. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a washing machine, a drier and a dishwasher, great if you are there for a week. We took our own 3m x 3m pop up gazebo to put around the hot tub as the weather was poor and it worked really well. It would have been nice to have a tv in each bedroom but it wasn't a huge issue. We asked for the zip and link bed to be split into 2 beds and this was done for arrival. As previously mentioned we would definatly reccomend.

Pictures dont do it justice, it was very secluded, house is beautiful and couldn't fault it at all. Owner was very responsive when we had a question. Would definitely stay there again.

Loved the country walk to local pub. Great facilities in house excellent wifi and games. It was next to a busy road with some noise just to be aware but didn’t spoil it.

We loved our time at Wayside Cottage.

Big, bright and airy! Very clean throughout, plenty of parking, plenty of towels and fully equipped kitchen. It had wonderful views and lovely and quiet in the evenings. We didn't get to use the hot tub due to our busy schedule but an added bonus to the property.

The property was fantastic.

Really clean and comfortable, the outside space was lovely and the hot tub was perfect. The cottage was spacious and well equipped and it was really nice to be surrounded by the fields. The caravan in the garden was also a lovely touch.

Another amazing visit to Wayside cottage.

We have been a few times now, the reasons being it ticks all the boxes. Mike has always been helpful should any queries arise. Nice, secluded location. Comfortable and clean environment, hot tub! It’s in an ideal location for visits to York or the surrounding areas towards the coast or moors.

Overall it was a lovely place.

But had to clean all the dishes before we could use them. The oven smells when you use it and smoked from the fat that hadn't been cleaned from the previous people. The towels are past their best. The shower runs warm but then goes cold. But it is a lovely place. The shepherds hut is beautiful. On the whole it's a great stay and we never wanted to give any negative feedback

Wonderful place to stay, very home away from home, relatively comfy and lots of facilities to make life easier whilst away from home.

As always, a great stay in a cottage that has everything we could need.

This is the third time we’ve stayed at this cottage and once again it was great.

It is spacious and spotlessly clean. We love the fluffy towels provided for use with the hot tub. It has a new hot tub & We had a small issue with the controls but one call to the owner and he was straight round to sort it for us. Mike is so helpful and is on hand if you need anything. We will definitely be back soon.

A really nice homely cottage, a little tired in places but this certainly didn't stop us having a great time.

Cottage entrance is on a busy main road and could have been better marked especially in the dark. Hot tub was a real luxury.

Very nice property well looked after.

The property was spacious and close to Pocklington and York.There was an added bonus of the pub and restaurant being very close as well as other eateries being just down the road.We also enjoyed a walk down the nearby canal. The beds were very comfortable,maybe an additional shower in the on suite would be beneficial. All in all a great stay.

Lovely property and host.

Very warm and comfy house. Hot tub was the best one wev ever used. Lots of clean towels. Beds lovely and comfy nice new bedding. Kitchen- everything you need a dish cloth might be helpful along with the sponge provided. Also think it would be a nice touch to have cooking oil, salt and pepper in the cupboard. Stair gate and baby high chair were great. I think a welcome book with WiFi, hot tub instructions, local pub restaurant open close times number and a little tourist info would be beneficial to others. The host was amazing and came and found us when we got lost and brought us back to the property. Thanks so much.

Property owner contacted us before we arrived to give directions and had stuck a balloon on a stick at the entrance to the drive so we could easily find it.

Loved our stay at Wayside, just wish we had stayed longer, clean & comfortable, everything we could possibly need, all instructions clear, great hot tub feature, lovely area, great local pub we had a walk to with such lovely welcoming staff, everything was perfect, we will be back x

We loved the hot tub and the facilities at the cottage.

The main road was quite noisy at times although it didn’t affect much when inside the property it was noisy outside. It was a good location to allow opportunity to visit the seaside and York

This is a lovely place & we had a fabulous catch up there.

We will hopefully be returning. Pro's: location - lovely & quiet. Spacious, clean and plenty of household items to cook / clean with. Hot tub was a The Shepherds hut is cute & the rabbits are fun to watch. Cons: Signposting to the driveway from the busy dual carriageway massively needs attention. There were balloons there but the trees/hedges need trimming & a larger sign is needed to make the turn more viable. We stayed on the windiest weekend for a while meaning the water in the hot tub was constantly getting cooled - so it struggled to maintain temperature. An extension to the french providing a wind block would be very welcomed. Other places we stayed had a welcome pack with guides, instructions etc in there. I have only just found the Welcome email in my spam folder - so we didn't know about the bed linen instructions. The above is for feedback only to make the cottage amazing - we would return.

Had a wonderful stay at Wayside Cottage.

We wanted to get the family together for a relaxing holiday and some sightseeing and Wayside ticked all the boxes. It’s spacious and has the added bonus of a ground floor bedroom with bathroom next to it so was ideal for my daughter, son in law and their 3 year old. The Hot tub was used every evening by three of our group and was definitely a hit and the towels a nice touch. It’s all in the description and it didn’t disappoint. Even the sideboard drawer in the dining room had a nice selection of leaflets / things to do etc. Finally a big thank you to the owner for spotting the set of keys that got left behind and forwarding them on. Would definitely recommend.

4th visit to Wayside Cottage.

Amazing value for money. Always spotless, plenty of towels and linen. Love the hot tub. Location is perfect too. Definitely recommend.

Stayed here for February half term, initial thoughts were its very specious.

Slightly quirky layout, the main bedroom is not the room with the en-suite, but all rooms were large and it was great to see the hot tub, warmed up ready for us when we arrived.

2nd New year stay here!

We never usually stay in the same place twice but this was our second visit and whilst there booked for our 3rd New year stay! Cottage is lovely and clean spotless in fact, heating is on for arrival which is great!! Plenty of clean towels available!! A proper home from home has everything you could need!! Owners are great, they are there if you need them but just leave you to enjoy your break. thank you for a fantastic weekend we will be back!

This is a lovely spacious house, which is well equipped and very comfortable.

The hot tub was great and the children loved the gypsy caravan. This was our second visit, and had a lovely weekend.

Me and my good friend of 20 years spent the weekend at Wayside cottage to celebrate our milestone.

It was lovely. The cottage is in such a beautiful location with good transport links. The cottage itself is cute and quirky and we had everything we needed. We didn't want to leave! We are already talking about returning!

We love it here! The cottage is spotlessly clean. Facilities are brilliant absolutely everything you could possibly need. We really feel it is a home from home. Beautiful land around the cottage. My Son even got a little tour around the farm to see the animals with the farmer and he was absolutely thrilled. Thank you for another great holiday

Fabulous cottage, very private & spotlessly clean.

Fantastic facilities, everything you need. I’ve knocked my review down by one point because the beds are described as 1x super King and 2 x King, whereas they are actually 1x king and 2x double, so not quite as described & not what we were expecting. However, that did not distract from the beautiful setting and our fab stay. Excellent place to stay and fantastic service support from Mike, the owner.

Lovely cottage.

Great location for a visit in York. Our children, especially loved seeing all of the wild rabbits in the adjoining field. Will definitely be returning.

Another excellent relaxing stay.

Fantastic property that feels like home as soon as you arrive. Great base as well to get around. Beverley and York to name a couple. Lovely to see the rabbits and a wander through the pathway you will get to see the 2 turkey’s. We even got to see a deer this time in one of the fields when looking out of the bedroom window. We will be back again to visit this lovely property.

Super Cottage, very well equipped, good price and fairly central for discovering East Riding.

Bit of road noise when in the garden but the windows are very effective when in the house. Hot tub was great. Private and secluded grounds with ample parking. Spacious inside. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank You.

The cottage was lovely and homely, perfect for 2 couples and 2 children.

The facilities were excellent, clean and tidy and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the Hot Tub and having the added bonus of Netflix. The parking was fantastic and location really good for going places like York and Beverley and National Trusts. Pocklington was nice and near and had plenty of Eateries/Takeout's. The Plough Inn at Allerthorpe did a lovely meal and the Chinese Restaurant is within walking distance. We would definitely use Wayside Cottage if we returned to the area again.

We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the property the only thing it would have been good if there was some recycling bins in the house because it was very cold and icy.It would also have been nice if there was some sort of covering on the hot tub so we could have used it when it was raining .

We loved our stay here.

The cottage is well kept, clean and comfortable, a perfect getaway, with everything you need. Our 3 year old grandaughter loved seeing the rabbits and chickens. Definitely recommended!!

We had a great long weekend.

The house is very large, well equipped and we loved the hot tub.

We stayed for 3 nights but could only use the hot tub on our first night after that it wasn’t heating adequately to use, we contacted the owner who said there was “nothing he could do at the mo.

” Very frustrating. Choice of drinking glasses very slim, no 6 the same and the majority plastic which I understand should be used outside but if drinking inside glass is preferred. Overall I believe we haven’t received the facility namely hot tub we were told to expect when we booked and paid for the cottage which is not acceptable.

The cottage was cosy, clean and very well equipped. The hot tub was amazing after a day out exploring. This cottage is perfect base to explore York, Scarborough and Whitby. We would recommended this cottage and hope to return ourselves.

Holiday away with some friends and we had a fantastic time.

All the amenities that we needed, plenty of space to chill and the hot tub was great. Couple of trips out to an air museum not far away and to Hull for The Deep aquarium which was really good. Would definitely stay again if we came up this way. Thank you!

Really beautiful and comfortable place, was sad to come home!

Everything was as described and very clean.

Just short of perfect, however as we were a party of all adults there being only one shower despite having a second bathroom/en suite was a bit of a problem and time consuming in a morning. On vacating the property on last day there were no instructions as what to do regarding supplied bedding and towels. We stripped beds and placed all used towels in bathroom as we have been instructed to in previous rented holiday cottages. Despite the above we had a fantastic time and the hot tub was brilliant.

Excellent stay, couldn’t fault the property.

Some general info on how to use oven, hot tub etc would be useful (some people may need this but we worked it out) and also wi fi codes could be left (we found on back of hub). If you don’t always want to drive the bus service was very handy being only 2 minutes from the property, took only 45 minutes to get to York. Hope to rebook for next year as we loved it and had a very relaxing stay.

We spent a week here for Easter with my husband daughter and our 2 friends and there son we had a lovely week.

The cottage is brill lovely and clean the kids had a brill time they lived the hot tub as did we they loved seeing the animals in the garden the little walk that is practically in the garden is lovely which takes you to the little farm with free roaming chickens and hens rabbits and 2 turkeys the kids loved seeing them. We had dinner at the Chinese it was delicious on the pricier side but was worth it for how nice it was. There isn't anything around that is the inly downside not even any walks really. Apart from that it was the perfect house for 2 families to enjoy a home from home and relax. I would definitely book again.

The entire cottage was well presented, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with essential items and towels provided. The hot tub was a lovely extra, even in the cold of February!! Would defintely recommend to others who want a homelike stay while visiting York and surrounding areas.

Great stay well equipped beautiful property

This large, spacious and comfortable holiday property was ideal for our family of six reunion.

It had all the home from home facilities although it could been better supplied with cooking equipment. The property location is perfect for easy reach to many of Yorkshire’s main areas of attraction.

The house was as described, clean and had everything we needed for a pleasant family holiday. The beds were very comfortable, extra towels were available and Mike kindly accommodated our request for a desk so one of us could take some work calls. The Wi-Fi was strong and reliable. Thanks for everything - we would most definitely return in the future.

We spent 2 days here for my husbands 40th birthday and can not rate the place enough, everything was just lovely they even left some cupcakes as a welcome gift.

The hot tub was fantastic and is definitely cleaned inbetween guest's as Mike the owner was there the morning we left to make a start with emptying and cleaning it. Everything was clean and bedding all smelled fresh. We will definitely be returning in the future!!

Had a lovely new year break at Wayside Cottage.

Cottage and hot tub were lovely. However a few essentials were missing such as dishwasher tablets, cooking utensils(ladles),cork screw. Was also surprised that there were no plastic Glasses for the hot tub. Cups and crockery could also do with an overhaul.The bath in the en-suite would benefit from having the taps changed to a shower mixer. No elf these things would cost a lot but would improve the overall ambience of the cottage. That aside, we had a lovely relaxing break.

Cottage was bigger than expected from the photos, hot tub was a proper 6 seater which was great.

One thing we did miss was not having a shower in the ensuite, only a bath. Otherwise a great location and very comfortable cottage.

Comfortable beds and living space with ample room for our family of 5. Lots to do in the local area and delicious pub food at The Three Cups in Stamford Bridge.

Went with the family and the kids loved the house (2 and 7 year old) The cottage is much bigger than it appears in the advert.

Very spacious and both inside and out. The outside area with the Hot Tub was great for relaxing and really private. Kids had plenty of room to run around. There’s plenty to do and see around the area but you do need a car as there is nothing in walking distance other than one pub and a small village shop. Also the cottage is described as being modern. If you going expecting an ultra modern interior you will be disappointed, rustic and homely would be a better description. Lovely place would definitely stay there again

We had a great week at Wayside Cottage.

Mike was a perfect host, answering any queries we had. We loved seeing the chickens, rabbits and were lucky to stay just after the piglets were born. Evenings in the hot tub finished off a each day brilliantly. Would highly recommend.

Just home from a 2 night stay here, the cottage is even better in real life!

It’s beautiful, plenty of space, the land it’s on is stunning, chickens & rabbits welcomed us when we arrived! The hot tub comfortably sat 6 of us, it was great. Location wise there isn’t much immediately around that we found, the pub across the road is lovely, York is 40mins away & well worth a visit! Overall could not fault the cottage at all. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Considering this holiday was originally booked for during a worldwide pandemic, and when everyone else was offering customer’s money back, you did not.

The only option was to lose our deposit or rearrange. Rearranging made the holiday even more expensive but we had little choice but to do it. Customers remember how they were treated during times when everybody was struggling and I will be making sure that I never book another holiday through Sykes.

The house was amazing!

It had everything we needed and then some. Plenty of towels, comfy beds, smart TVs, lots of space, very clean, big hot tub, very warm... like a home away from home and the perfect place to just relax. Thoughtful touches like the milk and cakes in the fridge were lovely too. Highly recommend!

The house is well maintained and the cleanliness was excellent. The kitchen was well equipped and the sitting room was nice and cosy with the biggest Smart TV I'd ever seen. The bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable and the en-suite (to one of them) was a bonus. Although the cottage is next to a main road, the house was well shielded by by trees from the noise and it was very quiet at night. The house is situated at the north end of the village and is in a very private location with beautiful views across the fields. I would definitely recommend this cottage and would stay here again.

5 mile to Pocklington

Perfect cottage

We stayed at the Wayside Cottage for a fortnight and found it to be a spacious, comfortable, and a very well-equipped property.

It was also extremely clean (something that is even more important during these COVID-19 times). Added to this, the hot-tub was a welcome treat at the end of the day. It is in an ideal location for exploring Yorkshire – York is a dozen miles away, Bridlington 30 miles away, and Scarborough, 40. The property is on a main road, although it is shielded from much of the noise by a surrounding of trees, which ensures its complete privacy. Hayton itself is small and has just a single store/post office (at the garage), whilst the Plough Inn, just across the road, has a Chinese restaurant (and operates a take-away service). The nearest supermarkets are at Pocklington (west) and Market Weighton (to the east). The village is served by an hourly bus service to York, and to Beverley/Hull. We have no hesitation in recommending Wayside Cottage, and would like to add our thanks to the owner, Mike, for his hospitality.

The farmhouse/cottage was BEAUTIFUL, it surpassed all expectations.

Mike was amazingly helpful. We look forward to rebooking.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the house is lovely.

The little extras made all the difference, hand wash in the bathrooms and kitchen, washing up liquid, dish cloths etc dishwasher tablets, plenty of towels. Thank you to the owners for the fresh milk and cakes! The hot tub was the main reason we chose the house and we weren't disappointed. We arrived on a weekend of stormy weather but still managed to get in the tub which is quite open but in normal weather would be sheltered by fence and trees. We had a nice meal in the Chinese restaurant at the Pub 5 minutes walk away, they advertise a take away service but they said they had stopped doing it on a weekend. The house is only a short drive to Pocklington which is worth a visit and has a selection of places to eat, drink and get supplies, you can walk to the garage though if you want a newspaper or supplies. The only down side to the stay for us was its location next to a busy road.

as first time away from home at xmas this was an excellent choice the cottage was amazing really cosy at the same time spacious the whole family enjoyed the hot tub and the the treats left by Mike was so welcoming.

We loved our stay everything was clean, tidy, fresh. Beds were so comfy we didn't want to get up in the morning!! The area was lovely it was nice for a getaway and the hot tub was a great addition to the stay. We will definitely stay there again if we get the chance. I would highly recommend.

The cottage was clean and warm and we loved the hot tub.

The hosts left us a lovely welcome gift which was a nice surprise. Our only complaint was the lack of toilet roll and that the sofas in the lounge really smelt musty. So much so that my clothes smelt bad when I unpacked my case.

Wayside cottage is truly beautiful.

The location had everything that we needed for a perfect break. Mike is welcoming and there was some nice treats in the fridge when we arrived. We loved the fact that there is not only a washing machine but also a dryer so we didn't have to take home any dirty washing. There's nothing worse than getting home and having to start cleaning clothes. The house . Although on a main road is hidden. And the only draw back was when the sat-nav kept telling us we had arrived. We couldn't find it. Had to contact Mike to find out the exact entrance . The experience was priceless. Would recommend this property to everyone

Lovely cosy cottage, though it's on the main road it still feels nicely rural and in the middle of nowhere, you can hardly hear the traffic in the cottage or the hot tub.

The owner Mike helped us with anything we needed and pre-empted extra towels. The beds were so comfy. The kitchen was well equipped with anything we might need. A weekend enjoyed by all.

Wayside cottage is just perfect for home away from home.

It had everything we needed. The owner is great and couldn't have been more helpful. Beautiful place to stay and the hot tub was great

4 of us had an excellent 3 nights away from start to finish.

The owner was very accomodating and made us feel welcome. The cottage itself is gorgeous and is in a lovely location. Cant fault a single thing about our holiday. We will definitely be returning.

Gorgeous house and facilities.

Location perfect for touring North Yorkshire & only a short drive from York. Welcome pack was in the fridge and the owner greeted us upon arrival. Kids went in hot tub twice a day. Beds comfortable and it comes with internet & smart TV Walks nearby are clearly defined and sign posted. Kitchen dining area very spacious. Could just do with extra outdoor lighting around the doors and hot tub area. Could do with extra utensils in the kitchen & crockery such as casserole dishes etc... All in all a great stay and we hope to come back !
