  • "The view passed the fields of wild flowers and the views were beautiful."

    The cottage was clean warm and plenty of tea coffee sugar and ginger provided.we had two meals in the bull pub down the road . The beds very comfortable as was the settees . We would stay again

  • "Very nice clean cottage, well stocked on kitchen appliances."

    Good location for getting to nearby towns. Could do with a small torch for taking your dog out last thing at night. Another lamp in the living area would be good so you didn't have to have the main lights on at night also would be better with a bigger TV. Little changes. We had a lovely stay in the cottage.   • "We’ve been a number of times to Partridge cottage."

    However Curlew cottage was available this time. So we knew the area and Filey well anyway. It’s perfect for taking a dog too. Walks right outside the door. Proper dog friendly too. No rules and regulations printed out and stuck on the walls. Just able to treat the dogs as we do at home. The beds were very comfortable. The heat pumps have always been a mystery to us. However the independent electric fires always able to boost the heat if needed. The Smart tv was an absolute great surprise. We did stop going to the cottages as we prefer a cottage with smart tv nowadays. However when we got there it was a smart tv. I think the owner should make this more evident on the cottage details. Anyway lovely as always. Will be back again Lord willing. Thank you.

  • "This was our second time at Curlew cottage and, again, it fulfilled all our expectations."

    The property is very clean, well maintained and supplied with everything you need for your holiday. Although the cottage itself is fairly remote ( dds to the tranquility) it is really well positioned to afford explorations of not only the stunning coast ( Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington, Staithes, Saltburn, Flamborough head )but lots of market towns inland ( Pickering, Knaresborough, Driffield, Thirsk, Malton, Pickering, Wetherby). The welcome pack included dog treats for our pet and was well received. The beds are extremely comfortable. We ill be booking again for next year.

  • "Cosy accommodation whilst still feeling spacious."

    Lovely and warm. Great water pressure. King size bed was a nice touch. Gorgeous views. Kitchen was well equipped. Had a really wonderful time. Definitely recommend!

  • "Curlew Cottage is very comfortable and cosy and in a peaceful location with great views."

    Well situated for Filey and Hunmanby both of which are only a few minutes drive. Scarborough is a little further. The local pub was very friendly with great food. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and hope to return to enjoy the area again.

  • "We had a lovely week here."

    The cottage was much bigger than the photos imply. Despite the weather, it was lovely and warm. Didn't really need the log burner, but used every night. There was everything we needed. Such a peaceful setting, yet close to local amenities. Perfect place for exploring the coast. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Many thanks.

  • "This cottage was bright, roomy and well furnished."

    It was also lovely and warm even though it's October. It's so peaceful on the farm with countryside all around and yet so close to Filey, shops, pubs, etc. We needed a few minor extras in the kitchen and have suggested them to the owners so I we think they'll be there next time we go.

  • "The cottage and facilities were superb and Debra and Mark were excellent hosts."

    The only negative comment (which was made by other visitors in the guest book) is that the sofas are quite uncomfortable. Other than that, we had a fabulous stay and will definitely visit again.

  • "A fabulous short stay in Curlew Cottage."

    The cottage was exceptionally clean, well maintained, comfortable with all essentials needed for our stay. Quiet picturesque location but near enough to coast for days out. Local pub recommended for food. Appreciated the welcome pack ( even included treats for our dog) and excellent communication from owner. Will definitely be booking again! Very highly recommended.

  • "Absolutely brilliant cottage, spotless and clean everything you could need for your stay is there."

    Really comfortable beds ans tonnes of hot water. Very quiet copious parking just the place to relax. Easy drives to Scarborough, Filey, Whitby and Bridlington. The best Sykes stay yet. We will definitely stay here again when visiting family.

  • "My late husband, sister & I have stayed in many of Sykes holiday cottages over the years and Curlew Cottage certainly was the best internally, equipment and comfortstyle we have been to."

    The instructions to get there were confusing, no sign for Station road or Carr lane and the fact that access was down a single track lane 2 miles,definately needed a Sat Nav. The Patio area for this cottage was uninviting concrete with tatty view of back of Owl Cottage, sheds and clothers dryers, no grass.The photo of Curlew cottage in your brochure suggests it is a detached building which in fact is the corner of three in L shape complex. The area seems very popular with dog owners, mostly off the lead, which although inside was unsettling for our dogs

Regarding the patio area: the area you describe is just a back yard with washing line. Your patio area is actually the seating area next to the grass in the fenced area in front of the cottage with the open countryside views, (with the Yorkshire flagstones and picnic table). Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Set in the magnificent Filey Bay, Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making it an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels and there is a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated and there are loads of family activities such as Alpamare UK waterpark, Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park and the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where all kinds of common and rare birdlife can be seen. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where you will find great beaches, a castle, the Rotunda Museum and the acclaimed Sea Life Centre. Other towns worth visiting close to Filey include Bridlington, Whitby, Hornsea and Saltburn, which all demonstrate the vibrancy of this picturesque North Yorkshire region.
