  • "Filthy oven and cooker hood, uncleaned kitchen cupboards, cookware old and handle broken, personal items in bedroom drawer, unkempt garden, no outside table or chairs, off-road parking space unusable, bed against wall one side, etc."

Well below the standard expected of Sykes properties.

  • "This property is a mixed bag - with many pros but we did experience quite a number of cons."

Pros - The views from the property are breathtaking and the location is fantastic, with some lovely walks. - The interior design of the property has been beautifully done. - The TV options were very good. - The property is very peaceful and quiet, especially at night time. - The property was clean and tidy. Cons - The property smells strongly of damp, particularly in the bedroom and caused us to sneeze a lot after sleeping in the morning. The owner had left lots of damp/ moisture collectors around the property in every room, but they were already full to the brim when we arrived. We were a bit concerned about this. - There is no washing machine. But the owner did leave washing tablets out? If paying over £100 a night, we think a washing machine should be available. We stayed for 5 nights and were only left 2 towels for us all which wasn’t enough without a washing machine and now have loads to do at home. - The key code was incorrect and there was no way at all left to contact the owner so we were left stood on the street with a baby frantically calling all different departments of Sykes cottages to try and get through to someone! - The outside area is unkept and the large number of big weeds meant we could not park our car in the drive, we had to park it on the road. - Although not expected, there was no welcome pack. Again, when paying over £100 per night, at everywhere else, we have received mini body wash or a few biscuits or something, so maybe something to consider in the future.
