  • "The property is kept, as it was on our visit to the property last year, clean and tidy."

The only problem we had was on arrival one of our outdoor bins was full and the second bin was part filled. On leaving the property the neighbour next door allowed us to put some of our waste in his bin , because as he said the seagulls rip any black bags open and start emptying them of waste.

Thank you for the good score, we're glad to know you liked the house in spite of some issues you experienced. As mentioned previously these have now been resolved following a closure for maintenance and an additional key for the front door is provided. We aim to be proactive with maintenance so that any potential issues are dealt with before our guest's stay and apologise that on this occasion this wasn't the case Property Owner

  • "Seafarers is a lovely house perfect for large family gatherings."

However there were a few issues that slightly marred our stay. The cutlery drawer was broken and when we returned from our first day out we found a note saying the maintenance man would be calling the next day to repair it. This never happened. There were slug trails all over the living room rugs which I reported and nothing happened. There was also a large area of damp above the top floor front room. The front yard/entrance was poorly maintained which is a shame as it's your first impression of the property. Lovely house but needs better maintenance. Sauna was unused by us, would have preferred a downstairs toilet.

Thank you for the feedback and sorry to hear about the issues that you encountered. We take these matters seriously and the maintenance issues should have been dealt with much better so please accept our sincerest apologies, it has been brought to the attention of the maintenance team. Your comments have highlighted that there were clearly some areas that needed attention and we have acted upon this by weeding the entrance way, fixed a roof tile, the cutlery drawer has been refit and the entry point where the slugs came in has been sealed. We do hope that in spite of these issues you had an enjoyable stay and hope you would consider staying again so that we can make up for the issues you unfortunately experienced on this occassion. Seafarers was all ready for us. Our party was four adults, four children and two dogs and ready for the holiday. The property is ten minutes walk away from Peasholme Park and fifteen minutes walk away from the North Bay Beach. If you enjoy walking the South Bay is easily walkable. There are several shops within easy walking distance. There is a supermarket within a five minute drive of Seafarers. The property is well equipped in every way.

Thanks for the comments, guests often comment how easy it is to access the park and access the beach this way, we're delighted that the location was also to your liking and you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

  • "We had a very comfortable and relaxing holiday."

Seafarers was ideal for our needs. Very spacious ( there were only 4 of us ), well equipped and in ideal location for all the Scarborough attractions. We parked the car and didn’t need it again for the week. Like others have said, maybe be aware of how steep the stairs are. This would not work for those people whose mobility is restricted. Not an issue for us though. Would happily return in the future.

Thanks for the feedback and glad to hear you enjoyed Scarborough, we'd be delighted to see you back! Property Owner

  • "Great location to explore Scarborough and surrounding areas!"

Very spacious and well equipped house to stay in for a large group of people. Nice decor and comfy beds. Good sized bedrooms, bathroom and the sauna was a bonus. Although there was only on street parking available, it was never a problem to find a space for two cars. The only issues were the beds weren't set up as we requested and also the stairs were very steep (especially the upper staircase) - we feel that the house listing could benefit from mentioning this as it might not be as suitable for people with any mobility issues/young children/elderly. Thanks for the enjoyable stay :)

Thanks for the feedback, we hope you enjoyed Scarborough and made the most of what the surrounding area has to offer. We do apologise for the mixup with the bed setup and this has been fed back to the cleaners, they are more than happy to come back to rectify any issues but we'll do our best to make sure it doesn't happen in future. In regards to the stairs, the property isn't advertised as suitable for those with severe mobility issues - a property offering ground floor accommodation would be more suitable. The stairs are standard for a Victorian terrace and haven't been an issue for the majority of guests, however we take on board that the stairs to the second floor are slightly steeper and would recommend the first floor bedrooms where the bathrooms are also located for those who struggle with mobility. This aside we're delighted that you liked the house and the facilities provided and hope you to see you stay again! Property Owner

  • "Pros: Spacious house, loved the master bedroom (spacious and extra large bed), all beds comfy, good to have all double bedrooms, no problem with parking (appreciated permits included), kitchen well equipped, information folder was appreciated, convenient position/location within easy access to Peasholm Park, etc."

Management company were always available and provided timely response to our calls. Cons: Called out three times due to radiators not working (problem with boiler pressure - plumber visited on last call out). When heating on, attic family bedroom got too hot, as opposed to rest of house, but probably not much can do about that (as heat rises). Both bathrooms next to each other on first floor and, in our opinion, would have preferred a downstairs toilet in place of a sauna area (off kitchen). Staircases steep for elderly and young children (probably can't be helped in older houses). Outside patio area was a bit grubby (tables not wiped over and decking not swept). We had asked for one of bedrooms to be set up as double however still two twin beds on arrival but was resolved on day two, also asked for cot to be set up however we found this in a cupboard and resolved ourselves. House wifi was poor. General phone reception was poor (not owners fault).

Thank you for the feedback. We're glad to hear you loved the master bedroom and the location was to your liking. I do apologise for the issue you had with the boiler and that it wasn't resolved immediately, I can confirm that the plumber has fixed the problem with the pressure. In regards to the attic rooms overheating, we've not had an issue with this before as the heating turns off once a certain temperature is reached, the radiators can also be turned down in these rooms and the windows opened. I've been over to check the Wifi after your stay and it was working well throughout the house, this can be disrupted if any of the signal boosters are switched off at the mains. I've also passed on your feedback r.e the bed setup to the management company and we're looking into why on this occasion the house wasn't set up as requested. Once again thanks for the feedback and we hope you'll stay again and give us the opportunity to provide the snag free stay our guests usually experience Property Owner

  • "Perfect choice for a weekend away with my friends."

Too many places have very unequal bedrooms, at Seafarers we all had a double/king size each or the option of twin rooms. This is a big plus for groups of friends. Nice central location, quiet street and close to an excellent fish & chip shop! A couple of minor niggles, but nothing major and would certainly consider staying here again if we needed somewhere with four bedrooms.

Thanks for the lovely comments, we aimed to make it as flexible as possible for different groups and it makes it all worthwhile to hear it suited your needs Property Owner

Far bigger and better than expected. The rooms are luxurious with high quality bedding and utensils. All the decor has been very well thought out, every single room is lovely. The open fire was a bonus in October, and the sauna was a great success with the family. A great open entertaining house which was fabulous for the 6 of us and a baby. We have stayed in many properties in Scarborough but this is by far the best one. The beds were so so comfortable, and spotlessly clean, we didn’t want to get out of bed. The kitchen is very well equipped, absolutely everything you could need. The sofas too were very comfy. The court yard was perfect for our dog. Everyone had a great time and all have agreed we will definitely return. 10 out of 10.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Seefarers."

The house is gorgeous and full of character, lots of space for 8 of us. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, pans, crockery, etc and the sauna is a lovely addition, very relaxing. The only thing I would say is the back yard could do with being jet-washed as there's moss all over the decking and table so it's not pleasant to sit outside. The location is perfect, Peasholm Park is a stones throw and there's lots to do there, we loved the dragon boat pedalos. North Bay Beach was lovely in the daytime but most things were closed at night, still worth a visit. We also had a ride on the steam train to the sealife centre which the kids loved. South Bay beach is only 15 minutes walk away and it was very busy but still enjoyable, much like the more traditional English seaside. The kids loved the amusements and fair and you could get decent meals from various cafes, bars and chip shops there. The house was the perfect base to visit all these from. We would definitely recommend a stay here, lovely!

Thank you for the lovely comments and we're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay. Apologies that the decking wasn't up to standard, it has since been power washed and is back to how it appears in the photos. • "It was lovely to be the first guests at Seafarers and to be greeted with a pristine property."

The accommodation is very good with large comfortable bedrooms and a pleasant large living area and kitchen. The owners have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into equipping and furnishing the property. Seafarers is ideally located about 10 - 15 minutes walk to the centre of Scarborough, with a further 10 minutes to the attractions and beach at South Bay, whilst Peasholm Park and North Bay are a similar distance in the opposite direction. Our only negatives about the property are very much issues of personal choice. Our party included 3 children between the ages of 6 and 10 and we really missed not having a washing machine - we would have happily sacrificed the dishwasher for a washer to help clean sandy costumes and beach towels etc. We thought that the sauna was a nice usp but found we couldn't heat it to more than 40 degrees and it didn't feel overly hot and felt that a utility room and/or downstairs cloakroom would have been better use of the space. Overall we had a very pleasant stay at Seafarers and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a family holiday in Scarborough.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you had a good time. The temperature for the sauna is set to default now at 60 degrees but can be changed following instructions in property. We do appreciate your comments and will be considering adding facilities in the near future. We do hope to welcome you again soon. Kind regards Property Owner
