The owner is really friendly and there to offer advice or just have a chat. The facilities are excellent and everything is very well thought through. We needed some assistance with the hot tub and the owner very quickly sorted us out. The lodge is spotless and the most comfortable lodge we have stayed in by far. The location is fantastic! So close to the town but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere as it’s so peaceful! Special mention to Maxwell who loves to pop by and say hello. He’s such a good boy and never crossed the line into the lodge. The kids absolutely adored him and wanted to bring him home with us. The kids also loved going to see the goats and horses on the farm.l, as well as playing on the games shed and with the footballs and goalposts. We are already planning next years stay! See you soon!

Thank you for your feedback, it was lovely to see you all playing football and having family fun together on the lawns . You actually provided me with some useful information which I can pass on to others about new places to try . Safe journeys Cliff Property Owner

Cliff, the host was great in recommending things for us to do and whilst we didn't get to do as much as we wanted, because the weather wasn't great, we were perfectly comfortable in the lodge and the hot tub was a much welcomed addition after a long day. • "This was our first time visiting so did not know what to expect."

We have just returned home after spending 2 weeks at the Heathcliffe Lodge and we had the most wonderful time. Cliff was the perfect host and such a lovely guy. The Lodge was bigger than I thought it would be and it was stocked with everything you would need. Before travelling I had to call Cliff to get arrival details, and when I spoke with him he had so much time for me and gave me so much information on places to visit in the area during our stay. I had every intention of visiting them all, however although I did visit a few I found myself relaxing at the Lodge and just sitting outside overlooking the Cornfield which I found so peaceful and relaxing, just what I wanted from this holiday. Whilst I was chilling out sitting on the front porch my husband was spending time in the hot tub. The Heathcliffe Lodge had everything we were looking for. I also have to give special mention to Maxwell, Cliff's dog, who was just the sweetest, friendliest, most well trained dog you could imagine. I never thought a dog could make me laugh so much, he was absolutely adorable. He visited us every day just to say hello and make sure things were okay! I would also like to mention Philip, Cliff's co-worker who was also so friendly and helpful during our stay. Cliff also introduced us to his Llamas, Pygmy Goats and Rheas, so if you have kids they will love this. The town centre was only a few minutes away and as far as shopping goes has everything you will need, from all the usual High Street shops to Supermarkets, Restaurants and nice pubs to enjoy a bar lunch. At the end of our 2 weeks I would have gladly stayed for another week but could not as the Lodge was booked. So we thank Cliff so much for his help in making our stay so enjoyable, and we'll be back! Best wishes, Lyn and David

not knowing this my wife's skin reacted badly to the chlorine. Shower looked great on pictures but if your over 6ft like me then it meant i had to sit down in it to use it - not ideal. heating didn't work in the master bedroom or en suite but as only there for 4 days didn't see the need to raise this. I would like to state that this place advertised as not allowing dogs which is great as i am very allergic to dog hairs but was surprised to see what i can only presume was the owners dog running around the site trying to get into the lodges and would randomly appear at your window on the terrace. From the pictures Heathcliff lodge at the front looks like the balcony terrace is enclosed which i though was great for my small kids meaning i could allow them out thinking they would be enclosed but that was not the case, it was only enclosed on 2 sides. Based on the above points id give this place 7/10

Thank you for your comments. We do strive to insure guests have a pleasant stay & we are disappointed that your time with us failed to live up to your expectations. The hot tub has full user information with it and further information is also available in the guest book, this information advises to remove the duck with the chlorine dispenser once the hot tub is in use. If we had been made aware of the heating fault we would have been happy to attended to it immediately . The internal shower height is unfortunately only 1.96m but does have a seat for the comfort of taller guests. Customer pets are not permitted , the owners dog however works along side the owner on a daily basis but he is not allowed into any holiday accommodation. Overall we hope this didn't spoil your time at Heathcliff Lodge. Property Owner

About the location

NORTHALLERTON

Thirsk 9 miles.

Northallerton is a County town and administrative centre of North Yorkshire, located at the foot of a ridge dividing two river basin areas, the Wiske and the Cod Beck, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of the Vale of York, between the Hambleton Hills and the Yorkshire Dales. This thriving town boasts market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when both sides of the High Street are home to stalls selling a wide range of goods and produce, plus on the fourth Wednesday of the month the market is joined by a farmers' market. Despite its modest size, Northallerton has a number of independent and national shops, including Betty’s Tea Rooms, Lewis & Cooper, an outstanding delicatessan and wine merchant, award-winning butcher’s, artisan baker, greengrocers, two department stores, several supermarkets and bookshops. With good rail links to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Durham and York, the activities are not just restricted to the countryside. Situated equidistant between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, the opportunities for exploration are endless. These include a day at the races at one of the many local courses, including Thirsk, a family trip to the unique Forbidden Corner at Middleham, a trip to a country house such as Newby Hall, Kiplin Hall and Castle Howard, or a round of golf. The restored Victorian resort of Saltburn, plus the pretty beaches and coves of Runswick Bay, Sand's End and Robin Hood's Bay, along with the town of Whitby, are all within one hour's drive away.
