  • "House is perfect location and great for large groups."

Decor could do with some updating. The only disappointment was the showers. Security on front porch door and back kitchen door needs attention. We had a great stay and had everything else we needed especially with young kids.

  • "I had a great stay here as part of a group of six friends."

It was brilliant to not only all have our own room, but also a spacious sitting room and a separate dining room to gather in. Staying at Sanderling does feel like you have been handed the keys to a B&B and left to it, but honestly that added to the charm. The location is fantastic for the seafront and the castle. Overall, incredibly good value.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Sanderling."

Very large house which housed 10 of us comfortably (6 adults 4 children and a dog). Great hospitality from owners who were there to welcome us when we arrived. The house is nicely situated between both North and South bay, which can be reached with a gentle 15 min stroll. I would highly recommend a stay here. The property is dated as others have said, please look past this and you will have a great stay.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It makes all the hard work really worthwhile. Cheers Jackie and Colin Property Owner

  • "Although the property is ideal for large groups,it has a long way to go to being ideal."

The overall cleanliness was surface clean but underneath it needed a deep clean, the spare blankets were smelly and need renewing, one shower was not fixed to the wall, the single bed was broken, some of the shelves and cupboards need looking at.needs door stoppers for little fingers ,as doors are on strong hinges, and close heavily. Needs better signs and information on the bins. One toilet window did not open and no explain. The outer door not locking is an issue, it didn't feel safe not being able to lock it, the owner doesn't deem it necessary. We felt very pressured when the owners and cleaners turned up 15 minutes early and sat outside waiting, we felt they should have arrived after the shut off time. Overall the house was OK, but still needs more work.

Colin and Jackie are absolutely amazing, they have everything you need for when you first arrive. The facilities are great and it has everything within walking distance. The house has had work done between our stays and you can see they are constantly adding things to help your stay as well as modernising the house. It isn't the most modern decor but the price does reflect that. The house is clean though and that's what our main priority is. The garden is perfect for the dogs and kids. It's a short walk to Peasholm Park, the minature railway, eateries, the town centre, the sea front as well as lots more. We came in September and again in March, the weather wasn't great on some of the days (we had snow), but we still found plenty to do. Thank you for another lovely stay and we can't wait to come back again

  • "We had a lovely stay at Sanderling."

There were 10 of us, and the place is huge, so plenty of space for everyone, and loads of bathrooms/en suites, definitely better than staying in a caravan. We parked right outside the property, and it cost us nothing with the scratch cards. We had everything we needed, secure garden for the kids, and there was also a games room for them, we also took a Playstation to use in the snug, so no one was bored when back at our digs. The house was lovely and clean, and priced quite low in comparison with other cottages, which I'm assuming is because the decor is quite dated, and there are a few snagging issues, like doors not shutting properly, bits and bobs broken, but these issues didn't bother us as we were out and about most of the time, and when you've got 4 toddlers among you, your accommodation looks upside down most of the time anyway. Owners very friendly too, would definitely recommend Sanderling to anyone, and we will return.

This house was very nice, we could see it needed a little updating but could also see that they have started, and they put things in that we would not even thought of taking, like hot water bottles and extra throws, and even down to the flowers in the living room and dinning room to even remembering we had taken 2 dogs and they left dog treats and poo bags, our grandson liked the tuck shop, but maybe check sell by dates on things, it was big enough not to be under each other’s feet and close to the beach

Thoroughly enjoyable weekend! Lovely welcome from the owner on arrival. She had even put up a Christmas tree! Bedrooms have been newly decorated. Beds were comfy. House is in a good location within walking distance of the seafront, shops and restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the newly refurbished kitchen and enjoyed chatting round the big dining table. The tuck shop was a novelty for the children! We would love to return hopefully in the summer so we can enjoy the garden and bbq.

  • "We have just returned from a lovely weekend, the house provided a great base for our large family."

The house is clearly in need of some renovation but this is fully reflected in the price. The bedrooms were well equipped with good quality bedding, lots of fresh towels and toiletries were provided. Even a tuck shop for the kids! The biggest issue for us was draft from the windows on the upper floor but I believe the owners are in the process of addressing this and Scarborough is known to be wild in December! The bedrooms towards the back of the house were really warm, as the house has a good heating system. The owners are clearly trying hard to bring the house back to its former glory and we would love to return to see this journey continue. Good luck with everything.

  • "This property is nothing like it is made out to be We Didn’t mind it being out dated and need of modernisation however it was below the expectations of a 3 star property as it is listed and I was expected to stay there with my 3 children the windows didn’t close, there was damage and holes to bottom of exterior doors meaning the property was absolutely freezing, with little too no heating, however on inspection all radiators where hot and working ?"

Yet we literally froze all night the was handwritten notes left by the owner on arrival stating things that where wrong and broken, however there was no mention of this before a arrival, owner told us the cooker didn’t work however when the inspection took place, only 2 days later it was said that it was all in working order, the garden was like a junk tip I couldn’t let my children out there! and definitely not all of the facilities worked, the bath and sink wouldn’t drain, the list really goes on and I have photos and videos clearly showing it all I got in touch with you before writing this review as I didn’t want to leave negative feedback however you haven’t been helpful at all, the owner has not responded to any of our complaints surprise surprise and the company states they have inspected the property and all is completely fine, I’m quite surprised that your company say this property is fit for purpose and I’d hate another family to be caught out, If you want to stay in a hostel like accommodation then this is the property for you otherwise I would stay well clear!!! Very disappointed

We are so sorry that storm Arwen led to the cancellation of your 4 day sales trip to Scarborogh Sparkle. We understand that the event was cancelled the morning after your party arrived and that your party left without telling us or making any complaint to us. You complained to Sykes, with far more comments than you have listed here and they came out to inspect promptly. The central heating, microwave, cooker, kitchen sinks, baths and overhead showers were all newly installed this summer and all worked well, both before and after Sykes' inspection. The only items in the garden are the new garden furniture and the barbecue. New double glazing at the front of the house was postponed by the glaziers in September and is finally being installed this week.We are so sorry that your husband and his staff were cold. If they had told us before they left we could have inspected for ourselves. We do not want any of our guests to have a negative experience in any of our properties and look forward to more positive reviews in the future. Set over three floors and found in a tree lined square across the road from the county cricket ground, Sanderling is a pleasing setting for your next trip to the North Yorkshire coast, within easy reach of the North York Moors National Park.

Be welcomed into the generous sitting room where you and your guests can cosy up on the ample seating and enjoy your favourite film on the TV as the gas fire crackles nearby.

Whip up delicious home-cooked meals in the galley kitchen, which has everything you need, as your guests pop open a bottle of fizz and lay the dining room table, with the dining room seating the whole group and home to French doors leading to a fully enclosed rear garden.

Just off the kitchen, you will find a convenient utility/snug, where there is a handy washing machine, as well as further seating and a TV for those wanting a little peace and quiet.

Those looking to continue the night can enjoy a wide selection of books, puzzles and board games in the games room.

Completing the ground floor is the bathroom, where you can enjoy a hot soak before retiring to the first floor where you will discover three beautifully decorated bedrooms, a double with en-suite cloakroom, a king-size with TV and en-suite shower room and a single with basin.

You and your guests will also benefit from a first floor cloakroom, ideal for a quick freshen up before heading out.
