  • "Beautiful Victorian terrace house that is modern on the inside but still retains its character."

    The house has everything that you’ll need for a comfortable stay and we appreciated the gift of tea towels, biscuits and milk left by the owner. We found the beds to be clean and comfortable and we all enjoyed a good nights rest. My elderly mum found the stairs challenging due to them being steep and narrow but we managed. The property was overall very clean but the sofas and chairs in the lounge were a little stained however it was the end of the season and they may have been due a clean. The property is ideally located, a short walk to the beach, harbour etc and directly across the road from various shops. This can be noisy and busy so not ideal if you’re looking for somewhere quiet but it didn’t bother us. Check in and out was a breeze and the owner communicated well with us to ensure this. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return and recommend to others.

  • "Good base for a family group within walking distance of the harbour, town and swimming pool."

    Beds comfy. Plenty of living area and a nice big dining table. We found the back yard tight and awkward for our car but property owner Dean was very helpful and quickly sorted out further street parking permits for our 2nd car. We had also hired a beach chalet via Bridlington Council on the sands at South beach and added the 2 car parking permits for the South beach car parking field which always had spaces. This was an easy drive every day from Hilderthorpe House and if you have kids is recommended as a beach base.

  • "The parking was really awkward,we had a really small car,it grounded underneath as it was a steep slope into the driveway."

    There was stains on the settee and chair, blocked drains at the rear and flooded onto driveway by car! Couldnt watch tv as no Ariel. Near to shops and harbour which was nice.

    Hi, thanks for your feedback. You’re right, it is in a great location - many of our guests say as much. To address your comments, I would just say that had we of known at the time of your stay about the drains, we would have sorted it - like we have today (as our current guests mentioned it). Apologies for the stains on the sofa, again if we know about any issues they can be sorted. The parking is a bit awkward, there is a bit of a knack to it. Parking permits are readily available for those who need them. The tv is a smart tv, no aerial required. All the usual channels are there - BBC, ITVX and Channel 4. Also the option to Netflix, etc. Property Owner

  • "A perfect position, being literally opposite Tesco superstore and more importantly a lovely bakery."

    The Edwardian style house is beautifully decorated and spacious. The stairs are steep but with a WC downstairs this is not a problem. The beds are the most comfortable I have ever tried in a holiday let!! 10 minutes walk to the harbour/sea front or town make it easy to park up and leave the car. The train station is literally across the road too. The parking space was too tight to get my car in, but Dean was able to sort out a virtual parking pass within minutes and I was able to park around the corner. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you Dean and your lovely housekeeper.

  • "We have just arrived home after a weeks stay."

    The house is beautiful the location is perfect everything you need is just across the road and the beach is just a short walk away. The house is well equipped agian with everything you would need. We came with 6 children and 3 adults there are bored games and even buckets and things for the beach to borrow. I wish we found this house sooner as we come to bridlington every year but this house is definitely the best we have stayed in and we will definitely be returning here.

    Ideal for large family, grandkids, grand parents etc. Top bedroom reached by many stairs, parking space very difficult to access. Otherwise faultless and would recommend.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Hilderthorpe House."

    It was very clean and tidy and well equipped with everything we needed. It was very convenient for all the town amenities and easy to get supplies with Tesco across the road. The owner was very helpful when contacted about heat and parking. As four ladies of mature years another shower room on the top floor would have been useful but of course this would not be an issue with younger people. The Priory was wonderful Bridlington's hidden gem!

  • "Stayed at hilderthorpe house, Bridlington."

    Prime location opposite a tescos, really nice bakery called cooplands and a lidl, and only 5 mins round the corner from the beach. The rooms were large and comfortably housed 7 of us in total, plus 3 bathrooms which were much needed! Only down sides were the TV not having any freeview channels on and the cooker/hob was slow to get going but overall, really nice house and great location. Will look to hopefully book again at some point.

  • "Hilderthorpe house is lovely."

    The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are very nice and clean. It is in a wonderful position to explore Bridlington and the the local facilities are brilliant. Communication with the owner was great and he secured us two car permits. I would definitely recommend this house. Thank you for a lovely holiday in a lovely house.

  • "We loved the house, great for a large family (all eight of us)."

    House layout it great and the children liked the third level. The beach is nearby and fantastic place to bring bikes. Really handy having Tesco, Lidl and other shops so near. Parking behind the house was too tight and right of way means that it is best avoided, however we got access to the street parking through a parking permit. Only negative's for all us was no enclosed outdoor space and no parks within easy walking distance. However the house comes highly recommended and would be very happy to return.

  • "The house was beautifully done, spotlessly clean and well equipped."

    The parking space is very small but the owner sorted a parking pass as soon as we arrived. We thought the small retail park across the road would be a problem but far from it the bakery and Tesco so close was great. There was no noise in the house at all. The only problem and it's being picky is there was no toilet on the top floor. We loved Bridlington and would definitely return and stay in the house. Thank you.

  • "This property is built and furnished to a really high standard."

    Bed in the main bedroom is really comfy, en suite bathroom with luxury claw foot slipper bath was a joy. Owner even provided milk and biscuits for our arrival. The location to beach, station, shopping and entertainment is amazing, 5 mins walk to harbour which is in the centre of north beach and south beach. The only down side is the size of the parking space behind the house. It will only take a small car. However, the owner provided a digital parking permit to park on a side street within 5 minutes of our request. Plenty of free spaces. First class service. Would highly recommend and we will be back.

  • "One single bed in room 1 wants the frame tightening."

    People using the alley way were using the car space to dipose of rubbish and on one occasion urinate at night.

The property

Hilderthorpe House is a stunning, Victorian end-terrace house, sitting in the centre of Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire.

Set over three floors and close to amenities, the house is perfect for a group of friends or large family hoping to enjoy the wonderful towns and landscapes of East Yorkshire.

The house is home to some original features, such as the pretty stained glass windows of the front door and the impressive tiled floor in the hallway, which leads to the cloakroom with WC, open-plan living/dining room and kitchen; here, you can make yourself at home on the sofas, plan your days out, or watch your favourite show on the TV whilst having breakfast at the dining table.

The kitchen has a contemporary finish, with a back door leading to the off-road parking space, as well as an electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher for all your self-catering needs.

Heading upstairs to the first floor, you will find a family shower room to freshen up after a long day, and two of four bedrooms; one king-size bedroom with a beautiful feature fireplace and en-suite bathroom, where you can run a bubble bath in the traditional free-standing bath, alongside a twin bedroom.

On the second floor, there is another king-size room with a classic feature fireplace and a twin room, so every guest has a lovely space to get ready for a great day out.

Nestled in the centre of Bridlington, you will be a stone's throw away from shops, restaurants, pubs, incredible nightlife and sandy beaches with award-winning promenades.

Travelling south from Hilderthorpe House, you will find Filey, another coastal town for sea, sand and relaxation; head straight to Filey beach with a picnic, enjoy a family day at Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park, or wander around the lovely Crescent Gardens.

To the south lies Hornsea, where you can enjoy walks along the quaint promenade to Hornsea beach, wander around Hornsea Mere and take in the scenery, and top it off with a delicious pub lunch.

For those seeking a busier town, head further north to Scarborough, a bustling seaside town with historical sites, such as the incredible ruins of 12th century Scarborough Castle, an abundance of shops and eateries, as well as the beautiful Peasholm Park.

BRIDLINGTON

Filey 10 miles; Scarborough 20 miles.

The seaside resort of Bridlington lies on the east coast of Yorkshire, south of Scarborough and Filey. Two award-winning beaches of golden sand stretch out on either side of the historic harbour, bustling with activity. Beautifully designed promenades provide everything from fun-fairs to quiet places where you can sit and watch the world go by. Shops, attractions, restaurants and the historic 'Old Town' of Bridlington offer a fascinating contrast to life on the beach, where the latest Dad's Army has been filmed, whilst the Bridlington Spa Theatre on the front provides evening entertainment. There is also the East Riding Leisure Centre, with family swimming area and a variety of other indoor activities. Further afield are the picturesque villages and scenery of the Yorkshire Wolds, the neighbouring resorts of Filey, Scarborough and Whitby and the spectacular heritage coastline.
