Thank you for your comment . The problem with the ensuite shower was a pressure issue which has now been fixed. We did attend immediately we were made aware and resolve the issue for you, the shower was working normally after this visit. We would have happily popped in to do this for you at anytime had we known the problem had reoccurred. Views out across the stunning countryside. Within 15 minutes of our arrival we saw a woodpecker on the bird feeders and later in the week an owl flying by the living room window. Just a short walk down to the beach then, if the tide is out, a short walk to robin hoods bay. There is loads of information in the cottage about the area with walks and things to see. We stayed in most evenings as we had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend

House is in an excellent location for cliff walks to Robin Hoods Bay and Ravenscar. Cafe at the Youth Hostel was a big plus too. It would have been useful to have information about items provided n the kitchen (washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, tin foil, salt, pepper etc) to know what not to bring.

  • "The property is lovely and in a wonderful location."

It has everything you could ask for and the balcony is wonderful for sitting out in the evening. The tennis court is a great bonus. The only negatives are that you share a garden with the cottage next door which is right next to the bedroom window, this would be annoying if it had been used by the other cottage as you can see the whole bedroom. It is also down a narrow road, which in previous years wasn't an issue, but as the beach has become popular the traffic has increased and a lot of near misses even though we went slow (other cars don't and most corners are blind spots). Sadly I did ask if a single bed could be made up as two doubles was a little awkward and Sykes cottage consultant said I needed to bring a camp bed, we brought one at great cost and the owners had one!

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. The beach at Boggle Hole is always popular in summer months when the tide is out, the road is not our responsibility but there are plenty of passing spaces along the route. I am sorry about the single bed issue I am unsure as to how this has arisen. The details clearly stipulate 2 kingsize beds. There was a put up available the week you visited as a result of someone requesting directly to us for use by a small child the week before, it had been left in the storage cupboard for removal. We do not usually supply any extra beds unless contacted directly. Property Owner

Really well equipped and very, very comfortable. Excellent bathrooms and cooking facilities. Plenty of space for up to six people. Off the beaten track but fairly close to Whitby and Scarborough. Boggle Hole is very picturesque and quiet, but access to the beach is very steep via the road down to the Youth Hostel (excellent Cafe) and beach. Nice beach walk to Robin Hoods Bay and access to the Cleveland Way, if the tides in.

The property is very quiet, comfortable, well equipped and relaxing. Very effective heating and hot water provision with great showers. The beds were particularly comfortable. The woodpecker on the feeder was a real bonus. As keen walkers ideal for walking into Robins Hood Bay either by top path or via Boggle Hole past the YHA along the beach. This gives access to the Coastal Path. Good bus connections from the Bay to Whitby and we used this to then walk back along the coast. Highly recommended.

Newly refurbished, modern, spacious, extremely clean and warm barn conversion in a lovely peaceful setting. The bed was very comfy and the beautifully laundered towels were in abundance. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, even a rechargeable torch inside the door. Netflix was a real bonus, as was watching the woodpecker on the bird feeders. We loved it. Apart from all the beautiful walks to Ravenscar, Robin Hoods Bay and beyond via coastal path or cinder track, we discovered the pretty village of Middlewood which is much closer for those who prefer a shorter walk (about 30 mins). There you will find a pub, a butchers and a general store selling pasties and hot sandwiches before 11 a.m.. There is also a little play park with plenty of seats to rest and enjoy your bacon butty!!

We loved the reversed living space with a gorgeous view of the countryside and sitting on the balcony, listening to the birds. There we so many birds constantly visiting the bird feeders, including a family of woodpeckers! The cottage has a very well equipped kitchen. There are no cafes or restaurants very close by (the YHA cafe on the beach is open some of the time) so we bought food from the Sainsbury's in Whitby and ate some meals in. The nearest restaurant is the Fylingthorpe Inn, which serves very good pub food - if you are not in a hurry! You do need to drive down very narrow country roads to reach it though! The showers are very powerful with copious amounts of hot water. The cottage has an excellent shared tennis court which I think must have been recently resurfaced. The images do not do it justice! All in all, we had a very comfortable holiday and would definitely stay here again.

ROBIN HOOD’S BAY

Whitby 6 miles; Scarborough 17 miles.

Robin Hood's Bay, with its narrow cobbled streets and quaint cottages, is one of the most picturesque villages on the English coastline. Situated between Scarborough and Whitby, this charming old fishing village is to be found nestling at the edge of a wide sweeping bay backed by spectacular cliffs and dramatic moorland scenery, and was once home to author Leo Walmsley. All holidaymakers will love the beach and its cliff-top walks, whilst more serious walkers will enjoy the many long distance trails that pass through the Cleveland Way, the Lyke Wake Walk and the Coast to Coast walks which all take in Robin Hood’s Bay. The village amenities are superb, with charming alleyways to explore and plenty of places to rest, relax and take refreshment. A perfect base for enjoying the Yorkshire Coast.
