  • "Picture perfect cottage in a beautiful village."

It was the perfect place to stay to see in the New Year. The cottage is cosy and charming but with all the mod cons, like excellent mattress on the beds, smart t.v (to keep our boys entertained!) and a good power shower! The kitchen is fully equipped as well. We loved having a real fire and it provided enough heat. The welcome pack when we arrived was a really lovely touch and the boys enjoyed the sweets (and we enjoyed the Prosecco!). Ugthorpe is a charming village and a great base to explore that part of the world. There is a pub right next door but we didn’t hear it at all, unfortunately It was closed one of the nights we were there or we would have gone. We will definitely come back here.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Esme's Cottage and look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful cosy cottage very nicely situated in ugthorpe."

The pub next door is a welcome addition to those wishing to use their facilities but there isn’t any issues with noise coming through the wall. The interior of the cottage is beautiful and has everything you could need.

Wonderful property, only problem for us was the steepness of the stairs (I have arthritis of the knees) the pub next door did excellent and filling meals and we touched lucky with the weather

  • "The cottage is lovely and comfortable."

It is situain a peaceful location where Whitby is a short drive away. Although it is attached to a pub we couldn't sit in as it wasn't dog friendly. We were hoping to have a meal in there on the last night but we're told we had to sit in the Beer Garden! I recommend that you take supplies with you as there isn't a shop nearby.

  • "This cottage was tastefully decorated and very comfortable."

It was super for our dog with a lovely lane next door, a pleasant village to walk in too. The pub next door had a fabulous varied menu, with very delicious food and was family friendly too.

  • "A lovely little cottage that was well appointed and in a friendly little village, there is a pub next door that serves lovey food."

The owners have done a lovey job with the cottages decor and it is clean and comfortable. Their attention to detail was really good. We would stop here again.

  • "I booked this as a 60th Birthday week away for my partner."

I looked at many cottages in this area. This one looked exactly what I was after. My grievance is that in the description given you were quite discrete about the pub being next door. Also as describing the outside area as a garden. To be honest the issue with the pub wasn't as bad as I'd expected as it was only open from 6pm - 9pm It did however make our view during this time basically rows of cars. The outside garden, was basically not much bigger than a patio. It wasn't great for us having the dog with us. There were no great views fron the cottage whilst downstairs. The only rolling countryside view was whilst standing at the toilet and looking out the window. So when we were sat out in the garden, we saw parked cars. On another note. It isn't that great an area for walking dogs. The impression I get is the local farmers don't want this and most of the public footpaths are hidden and the markers are not there. On the plus point the cottage is lovely and is well equipped. ( though the TV needs looking at. No terrestrial tv at all) I think you need to mention that it's next door to the pub, rather than declaring the distance. I think that was a bit sneaky. We have used Sykes before and found the previous chalet excellent. I shall look using you again, but will check with Google earth and check the listing a lot more throughly in future.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you feel that some aspects weren't as you expected. We have taken your comments on board. Property Owner

It was small, but so cosy! The location was perfect. Not far from anywhere, especially the sea. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return. Thank you so much xxxx
