  • "Myself and my 9 yr old son had the most amazing time in whitby , this little cottage was perfect , very well equipped and had everything we needed ."

Fresh Milk and a little welcome pack on arrival was a lovely touch . Bed was super comfy ! Under floor heating was really nice as was the log burner which we lit each night ..the only downside was no logs so went and bought two bags to cover our stay , but thought it may have had a few in the basket included within the price . Childrens games for the evening were welcomed and we used both . Very clear instructions in welcome pack re parking and zones etc , however we did incur a ticket ! So will be taking this up with the council as permit was clearly visible and we were in the right zone . A very lovely stay at oystons yard and lovely memories made for myself and my son , il definitely recommend and will be going back . Thankyou

Cental location close to all the amenities and harbour. Would definitely recommend this cottage and have already been looking to stay there again next year.

  • "Overall cleanliness was good except for kitchen cupboards stains inside cupboards and pans and bowl were greasy."

Also hair and stains and hair in utensil drawer. My main concern was the building site at the end of lane. Very noisy with work starting before 8am and finishing at 6pm. Workmen very loud wheelbarrows up and down all day. When asked jokingly if the could start a bit later was told twice 'you maybe on holiday but we aren't ' Could not sit outside on bench or table provided for the noise and the workmen constantly up and down.

Access to the top bedroom was a challenge but then we didn't use it as there was only 2 of us. Location was perfect as only a short walk to the town amenities.

  • "Really enjoyed our holiday there."

We'd spent a week on the same row two years ago and it couldn't have been more convenient. Only quibble would be better advance info on the parking set up, we found one disc on arrival and if we hadn't checked with locals we may have misused and ended up with a big parking bill. Eventually found the right parking ticket but that was a couple of days in and we'd found somewhere else to park by then. Looking forward to a return trip next year.

Really clean and well equipped. Ideal size for the two of us. Very comfortable. Dishwasher was a bonus and the log burner was ideal for autumn nights. After using the starter logs provided, we were able to get further supplies from the nearby Co op. We came by train so no parking issues!

  • "Great location."

Exactly as described on website. Couldn’t really have been anymore convenient for shops restaurants and pubs. Finding convenient parking spot was slightly more difficult, but I.think this was due to the rapid influx of visitors at the time of visit. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again!

  • "A freezer compartment would have been useful."

It should also be stated in description that attic room is awkward to enter and especially to leave, you need to be very agile. A self closing gate at the end of yard would also be welcomed. But we had a very enjoyable week and accommodation was comfortable. Thank you

It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is great, right in the town centre and an easy walk to the beach. The cottage did smell quite strongly of dog when we arrived, but we vacuumed and this seemed to help.

We were concerned about parking however during our stay we managed to find parking close to the property using the provided scratch cards. We would not have any hesitations recommending this property to friends and family.

It's in the heart of Whitby yet its position in a yard off the street ensured it was quiet. Well presented and clean with good facilities.

  • "We had a fantastic stay here, in Oystons Yard."

On arrival the cottage was warm and cozy, and very clean. A basket of wood and firelighters for the burner. Fresh milk in the fridge. Towels laid out on the beds. The instructions to find the yard are not hard to follow, but I'll make a note here that the bakery that the gate is next to is now called Lainey's Tea Room, not Abigail's (if you're looking on Google Maps, etc.). It's on Flowergate, if you want to be precise :) The yard itself is very quiet and tucked away at the back of the buildings, but you're right in the center of Whitby. Superbly located for pretty much everything. Shops and supermarkets in easy reach, and a good, locals pub over the road. The cottage is well appointed with central heating as well as the wood burner, but we hardly had the heating on unless we were having showers, etc. It was so warm and snug most of the time. And this was February, too! There's plenty of facilities for cooking, and even a slow-cooker. My one tiny half-critisism is the lack of an ice-box or freezer compartment in the fridge. It wasn't a big deal for us, really. We just put our bottles of gin and tonic water in the fridge (I know, first world problems, right?! LOL). The TV is a smart one, so we could log into Netflix or BBC IPlayer, etc. and there's a USB attachment for it which I'm assuming will play files from a pen-drive but I didn't try it. The beds were lovely and comfy, and the shower was great. Parking is, as you can imagine for the center of Whitby, is a fun game to play. There spaces on Flowergate but they are only 1 hour (with a parking disk). We left our car two streets away and used the 'scratch cards' provided for us at the cottage (another thankyou for those!!). It's a complicated affair if you're new to it, but didn't take us long to work it out. We managed to get a space on Flowergate for loading and unloading our gear. There's a parking disk provided also by the owners and if you need another one (as we did, due to the last people not leaving it behind) they are free from the Poundland down the road. Here's a handy guide that explains everything... Basically, if you have a scratch card you can park for up to 2 days in the Blue or Orange areas (the sign will have a W on it) There's not really much more to say. I'd take care if you have trouble with steep stairs. Getting up and down to the upper floor might be difficult. All in all, perfect. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely and welcoming clean and has everything you need for a mini break. Our teenage girls loved the attic room with an amazing view of the Abby which this week was lit up at night. Watch your head going up and down to the attic. Will be back again.

  • "Very hard to find but when you do it's an amazing little cottage."

Right in the centre of whitby, nothing to far. Permits to park are made available which were a god send. We found a perfect spot 3 mins away, and only used the car once as so many walks to do and bus and train station near by. We really enjoyed our stay here, the only thing letting it down was no logs for the fire. It's an amazing feature that I would loved to of used. Saying the cottage is very warm and cosy. Would highly recommend.

The only complaint I would have is that we would have preferred a small freezer or freezer box in the fridge for ice instead of a dishwasher.

I’ve been going to Whitby for over 30 and this little cottage in the tiny alley way was a lovely surprise. Even though a pub was a short distance away it was still a lovely and quiet location.

  • "The cottage was surprisingly small - didn't cause us a problem as there were only two of us staying."

The access to the top bedroom is very cramped and low, but again we were ok with it. Not too difficult to find, though Oystons Yard doesn't appear on any satnavs, the instructions we received were just about adequate. Parking is a real problem, we ended up nearly a mile away - ok for us as we were staying in the town for the duration.

  • "This cottage is nicely located in the centre of Whitby."

There is a user friendly car park just around the corner. A parking disc is made available (1 hour limit on Flowergate) but during our 3 night stay we were unable to find a spot to unload or load our car, hence the car park. The cottage on Oyston Yard is lovely, well appointed and very clean. The weather was a bit inclement during our stay and we didn't find the cottage over warm despite lighting the wood burner each evening. However I would recommend this as a nice place to stay.
