Lovely warm cottage in the centre of Settle so could walk out to all the amenities.

A very comfortable stay at Devonshire House.
Pretty much everything you need supplied and on site. Perfect location in Settle, good walks, pubs, restaurants and takeaways all within easy walking distance. Didn't use the car for the first 4 days. Parking can get a bit hectic when the Post Office is open, those entitled few who block the access road just dropping their parcel off. Not a big issue though. Would love to return next time we are up North. Tip-there are no USB sockets so take a plug in adaptor. Also a portable radio if you like listening over breakfast.
The kitchen diner and ensuite bathroom were nice, but we had to vacuum some carpets ourselves because they were dirty.
The mats in most rooms were also full of dust and dirt. It seems that 'character' overides cleanliness. The old trunks and musty books were unpleasant, and the mattress in the single bed was so uncomfortable, I had to use my duvet for padding. The location is great, and we enjoyed sitting in the small garden, although the chairs were dirty. Overall it was dissappointing.
