  • "What a marvellous holiday home!"

We loved the wide open views from the dining room and enjoyed the comfort of living for a week in such a homely and well equipped place. It's got everything you might need. Lots of activities to do in the area as well. One of the best in Scotland, we reckoned.

Lovely thoughtful welcome pack. Outstanding natural scenery with so much wildlife around (hares, rabbits, weasel, lambs, all sorts of birds on the bird table) plus lambs and calves. Plenty of logs and kindling for the fire. Loads of space, great shower.

The owners were on nearby farm and had fresh eggs and other home made produce if you required it (honesty box).Mountain hares seen daily on front lawn, woodpecker and other birds seen on bird feeders in front of fabulous mountain views.Only problem was that a week was not long enough ! We shall return to this cottage that really made you feel at home.

  • "Creag-na-Sanais is in a stunning location and well placed to explore the Cairngorms and the wider area."

Plenty to do, whether exploring by road, bike or by foot. Owners very friendly, and on hand next door if needed. The cottage was generally well maintained and very comfortable albeit could do with some modernisation with some of the furniture tired. It was generally clean throughout albeit the cooker hood could do with some attention. The heating oil ran out after a couple of days but the owner very quickly tried to deal with this with additional oil and was very apologetic. This didn’t affect us as we had the open fire in the evening and hot water via the immersion heater.

The only improvement (as others have also said) would be the TV could do with replacing and a working DVD player would be useful, though we got around the latter using the PS2 that was there. The mattress was very hard, though this is a personal choice, some may like it like that but we ended up buying a mattress topper to make it more comfortable.

Views as enjoyable in wet weather as good. Attentive owners, but not intrusive. It was good to be prewarned about shops for groceries. The milk and biscuits were much appreciated after a long journey. You can’t criticise perfection!

  • "Beautiful house comfortably furnished and well supplied with cooking and eating utensils."

Archie came and introduced himself just after we arrived and told us they were just across the field if we needed anything but didn't disturb us in anyway. The farm has an honesty box selling fresh free range eggs etc. We can vouch for them being free range as we watched the chickens running around the field every morning. The views are amazing in all directions and from every window. It's so peaceful and quiet, you would never guess it's only 10 mins from A9, so easy to get around. 15mins to Newtonmore. 20mins to Kingussie. We drove to Kingussie one morning and ended up driving a wee bit more and a wee bit more because of the wonderful scenery until we found ourselves in Fort William. Didn't mean to do that. Aviemore is just a short drive North. Dalwhinnie a short drive south. Woke every morning to the sound of swifts and sheep. Could have spent the day being entertained by the antics of the swifts. Lots of really nice coffee shops with fresh home baking.

The views from the cottage were amazing with wildlife passing the windows including dear, pheasant and birds. It was also pleasant to see the farmers cows and sheep close up when they were having their daily “munch”. The highest compliment to give would be that we would gladly live in this cottage.

It really is a fantastic cottage set in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. The location and scenery are stunning, we especially loved the peace and quiet and being so close to nature. The dining room has windows on three sides giving lovely views across the fields and mountains. The cottage is packed with literature giving great information on local walks and all the many things to see and do in the area and further a field. The owners kindly left milk and delicious cakes for us on our arrival which we thought was a lovely touch. We very much hope to return to this lovely cottage and would recommend it to our friends and family. This truly is an absolute gem of a place. Thank you for a fantastic holiday!
