  • "Stayed at Bisley house for the week commencing 8th November."

What a lovely cosy clean and well equipped house. The welcome pack was amazing and much appreciated. The garden was secure and great for our 2 spaniels. The house is well located for the local shops which are only 5 minutes walk away. The beach is a 5 minute drive as is the large Morrisons Supermarket. We would definitely recommend this house and to prove that, we have already rebooked for the beginning of February 2025.

Thank you for your kind review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Bisley House, it's a pleasure having such lovely guests, fabulous to hear that you have booked to return and stay with us again, you will be more than welcome! Many thanks. Kind regards Russ Property Owner

  • "We had the perfect stay in Bisley House."

The owner, Russ, could not have been more helpful. He got in touch before the visit to give guidance and we knew from the start that he would be on hand if necessary but would never be intrusive. On arrival a very generous ‘Welcome’ pack and wine had been left for us, together with a lovely card from Russ. The house was spotlessly clean and It had been refurbished to a very high standard. The furnishings were tasteful and the property was very well equipped. Even though our stay was in October the house was very warm indeed. If we had wanted to we could have lit the wood burning stove which had been primed with paper and logs. Upstairs the beds were very comfortable. Our son and his wife joined us with their one year old and a very good quality cot and high chair were ready and waiting. Stair gates had been fixed to the top and bottom of the stairs. Parking was easy and the street was very quiet. The centre of Amble was a short 10 minute walk away and the harbour was just 20 minutes away by foot. I can highly recommend Bisley House for a stay. Many thanks to Russ, who is a wonderful host.

  • "We had a great week at Bisley House."

Amble is, in our opinion, one of the nicest seaside towns in Northumberland as it has retained a “proper” town with a wide variety of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is a market on Saturdays and Car boot on Sundays at the harbour. Bisley House is just a short walk from the harbour and we walked to Druridge Bay Country Park one day and then in the opposite direction to Warkworth the following day. Another great walk with amazing views was to the Simonside Hills. The house has been refurbished to a high standard and was equipped with everything we could possibly ask for. Parking was easy too and it was in a quiet area. The owner Russ left us a fabulous hamper with treats for the dog that he loved (we loved ours too!) Russ came to visit us early in our stay and we learnt about the history of the house. He was very helpful and we felt we could contact him with any questions we had. We definitely recommend staying here and if we come back to Northumberland, we would not hesitate about staying here again.

It is in a very quiet location but only a short walk to the hub of the town and activities. The secure and private garden was perfect for our Cockapoo to explore. Russ was very welcoming and knowledgeable of the area. He was just a phone call away if we needed anything. We appreciated the lovely welcome pack and the thoughtful extras for our dog. We look forward to a return visit in the future.

  • "We had a lovely stay and used the house as a satellite from which to travel in all directions."

The children (3 and 5) absolutely loved it, as did we. There are great facilities in the house and it was like having a home away from home. The ratings we have provided give you the overview. Only tweaks we would consider: -A couple of wash tablets / dishwasher tablets when initially arriving. -A little smaller keyring on the key as it is difficult to shut it in the safety box for fear of breaking it. We cannot think of anything else, and this was only a consideration as we had not had chance to get to the supermarket. Host was brilliant - very knowledgeable indeed. We will definitely consider staying here again. It was fab.

  • "Bisley House was a great centre for our Northumbria holiday, the house has recently been refurbished to a high standard with all the amenities required for a great stay, the house was very clean and a small welcome pack was provided."

We bumped into the landlord who told us a little bit about the history of the house and was keen to make sure that we had everything we needed. For dog owners or families with small children, the garden surrounds the house and is nicely secure. The surrounding streets are quiet with little through traffic. Parking is on-street, but you do not need to fight for space, we ended up taking two vehicles and parked both to the side of the house all week with no problems. Amble harbour is only a 10 minute walk from the house and Amble itself has a good selection of places to eat or get a take-away from. It's a 5 minute walk to the Co-op or 12 minute walk to Morrisons for those essential bits. There are plenty of places to walk the dog locally and a lot of dog friendly premises in the town. Warkworth castle is 5 minutes away and Warkworth beach about 10 minutes, Cresswell Beach (Druridge bay) is 15 minutes away, both beaches are well worth a visit and dog friendly. Alnwick is 20 minutes and Holy Island about an hour. We haven’t rebooked yet, but if we visit this part of Northumberland again we would certainly book again.

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
