"Very comfortable accommodation in quiet setting."
Loved watching the Swifts zooming overhead! Local beaches and attractions are idyllic for those that don't know already. Highly recommend Darling Cottage.

"An amazing house,so comfortable and welcoming (our second stay),the owners have thought of and provided everything."
Excellent location for visiting other places and walking locally but quiet garden for stay at home time. Thank you for wine, chocolates and biscuits very thoughtful. We are already looking to come back next year.

"This is a fabulous property and very spacious ( there were four adults staying)."
The kitchen/diner is particularly impressive and we spent most of our time there when relaxing in the house. It’s very close to the village so an ideal location if looking for the choice to eat out but, due to the excellent facilities, we did this less often than planned. The open outlook at the back enhanced the garden and made it very pleasant when sitting on the patio.

"Comfortable spacious property in an ideal location close to Bamburgh centre."
Darling Cottage is quiet and peaceful. Ideal for visiting this area of Northumberland. Note to the owners: There is grass blocking the guttering at the rear of the property which needs cleaning out.
Thank you for making us aware of the need to clear the gutter ; this will be attended to . Property Owner

"This is a lovely cottage which is let down by several minor issues that could be easily resolved."
Front door handle is very loose and got stuck at one time making the door impossible to lock. Fortunately persistence unjammed the mechanism. Patio door has dropped and is difficult to open and close. I had to repair the towel stand downstairs as very loose. I also repaired the loose bathroom door handle downstairs. The WiFi is abysmal and at times this caused Sky/Netflix to hang. The downstairs toilet flush is totally inadequate and the disgusting state of the brush indicates that this is a long term problem. The shower upstairs has inadequate pressure. The oven and hob are difficult to operate. Poor quality knives and scissors. Cleaning could be better. The welcome pack was appreciated.
I am sorry you did not find the property to your satisfaction. The letting agent is attending to the maintenance issues raised and it is a shame these were not immediately brought to there attention so that they could have been dealt with. On our last recent visit we did not experience any difficulty operating the oven and hob, however, full instructions are available in the house folder. We have found our cleaners normally perform to a good standard, however,we apologise if you found any problems noting your comment about the toilet brush; all of which will be replaced on the 11th April. "When we arrived, I noticed how well-maintained the building and the outside were."
On entering and inspecting the rooms, I noticed that the owners had taken great care of the fixtures and fittings, which were not cheap. The beds were really comfortable. The owners even left dishwasher tablets, cleaning materials, dish cloths and tea towels. In fact, Keith and his good lady couldn't have done more to. make our stay more enjoyable. There was a large file with all the information about the cottage and the workings of the equipment in the cottage, as well as info about surroundin area. This all made our stay more enjoyable. I would recommend this property to anyone, which I have already done to our friends, and if we are up that way again, that's where we will stay. A great big thank you to you both. I'm afraid the only thing that I would say is that the WIFI was a tad slow, but it didn't matter. This did not affect our stay one bit
We are pleased you found the property to your satisfaction and greatly appreciate your feedback. We hope to welcome you again sometime in the future. Property Owner

"Darling cottage is perfect."
From start to finish we had the best time. There was everything you needed for a self catering holiday. The beds are comfortable and the house was very cosy. Television has lots of channel choices. Its a 5 minute walk to the vars and restaurants which are lovely. Thus must be the best UK holiday I've had. Thank you.
Thank you for your comments and we are pleased you found the property to your satisfaction . Property Owner

This is our 3rd stay and it won't be our last. The cottage is huge, cosy, welcoming, beautiful and in the most perfect location. There is nothing more to say. It's 10 out of 10 from us.

"When we first entered the property, there was a very bad smell that lingered arising from the cleaner using a dirty mop on the hard flooring."
Drain on the patio was leaking out, the driveway was weedy, and the fridge freezer leaked. Internet access was poor, intermittent, coupled with zero 4G signal, meant we couldn't contact family nearby. Other than that, a pleasant enough stay, mainly because of the village and surrounding area rather than the accommodation. Really poor customer service from Northumbria Coast & Country Cottages, particularly Lynsey messaging on a no-reply email address - next to useless and hyper focused on the internet issue, when that was secondary to the other problems. I would strongly discourage anyone from renting with and through them.
I am sorry that your holiday experience was not what you hoped for .I am curious , however , as to the reason your review score of 2 contrasts alarmingly with the other 26 reviews left ; 25 being 5 and 1 being 4 .Many of our guests decide to return to stay at the property , and if your experience was typical of others , this would not happen . Whilst you take issue with several property shortcomings, your most severe criticism appears to be directed at the letting agent whom I have always found to be most helpful and who have permanent maintenance personal employed to tackle any problem guests find. In terms of the property ; i was at the property at the day of your arrival and did not experience any odour in the kitchen , two thirds of the driveway was weed free and the remainder will be cleared over the winter ,a new fridge freezer is to be delivered in November , the drain on the patio has been attended to .There is a general issue in North Northumberland with good Wi-Fi , however , every effort is being made to provide the best available . I can only apologise again that your holiday experience was not what you had hoped for. Property Owner

"Great stay in a cottage that perfectly suited our families needs."
A couple of bars of soap would have been good to have left us but the wine biscuits and chocolates were very welcome .
-
"An amazing cottage, so comfortable with everything we needed and more, not to mention the welcome gifts."
All fixtures and fittings of the highest quality and in a great location. Outside the property was as well maintained as the inside, there was nothing we could find fault with. We would highly recommend Darling Cottage and hope to return in the not too distant future.
Thank you so much for your generous comments and we have noted that you have already booked to return next year ; thank you . Property Owner

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Darling Cottage."
Amazed how quiet it was when we were so close to the busy village. We have been to Northumberland on a number of occasions and we can safely say this was one of the best weeks we have ever had there. The layout of the house was spot on and my wife found the downstairs bedroom and bathroom perfect for her. Definately 10 out of 10 on every level.

Where you’ll be staying
BAMBURGH
Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.
The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
