  • "This is a fantastic property."

A beautifully renovated house which has loads of charm combined with a modern kitchen and 2 bathrooms. It is so comfortable and well equipped. The location is perfect, just a minute from all the amenities in Corbridge. Perfect. We'll definitely be back, although I suspect it will be booked up most of the time. This is the best of a number of different properties we have stayed in locally. Many thanks.

We soon settled in and felt at home. All amenities you need is within a few hundred metres, whilst your only 5 minutes drive from the countryside.

  • "Well appointed and comfortable property."

Very well placed for shops and public transport. Excellent public transport links to Hexham and beyond, including hadrians wall and associated sights. Although positioned between a cafe and pub there was no noise or other disturbance at all. We would certainly stay in this property again.

This is our second stay at this cottage this time was a little disappointing as there were a lot of light bulbs needed replacing plus the blinds at the back door and living room were not working so wasn't very private at night we were over looked there differently need a washing machine aswell if your staying 1week are more apparent from that the cottage is beautiful will definitely return in the near future

  • "We were disappointed that there wasn’t even a very basic welcome pack ie milk, tea, coffee."

The set up looked lovely however the serviettes on the table should have been checked they were quite dirty. We had a major issue with the shower in en-suite, Ruth did send out a plumber but he was unable to completely sort we went from scalding to barely Luke warm. On a positive the cottage was in a great area and was beautifully appointed.

No problems being next to the Pub - no noise etc. Parking passes provided for Corbridge and Northumberland. Owner keep in touch by text - very helpful. Would definitely return if going that way again - lovely part of the world. Thanks

The only thing missing for us was a washing machine as we were away for 2 weeks and it would have been helpful.

The only thing we weren't too happy about was that the cottage was not very warm - we couldn't turn on the bathroom towel rails or the radiators.

  • "A few tea bags and a small jar of coffee would have been lovely on arrival."

Also enough logs for the first evening would have been valued. My husband had to clean the drain of the main shower as it was blocked. Not something you really want to do on holiday! A washing machine would have been great. All that said it was a beautiful property and we would definitely recommend it.

  • "The property is in a great location and clearly has been recently modernised to a fairly high standard."

However there are a number of small issues which if addressed would make this property five star in all respects: 1. There is no information about any of the facilities to assist people who stay there - heating, lighting, blinds etc. Simple to do but it seems to be an issue which clients have highlighted consistently over the last few months. 2. The log burner in the lounge could not be used as it leaked smoke from the seal between the chamber and the chimney. A health and safety issue but one which Im fairly sure could have been fairly quickly resolved -probably the biggest issue. 3.Related to this it meant the underfloor heating needed to be boosted to supplement the heating - this cannot be done quickly to make the room warm and comfortable also there were no instructions relating to this. 4. The showers - the owner phoned us to advise before we arrived that one of the showers was out of commission. This was not an issue for us as there was an en-suite shower in the other bedroom. However this shower did not operate properly as the overhead part of the shower would not work. Again a fairly simple repair needed. 5. Blinds for the vellux roof windows in this room should be fitted (not an issue for us) but it does make for a very bright room as soon as dawn kicks in. 6.The front door lock is not easy to operate from the point of view of getting out of the house as there is only a small turning 'handle' to hold on to. Whilst I have listed a few things here we loved our stay at the house but found it a bit frustrating when I read the reviews that many of the issues had already been identified but were still outstanding. Just take time to resolve them and take away some of the hassle for all concerned.

  • "Gorgeous house in a superb location, right in the centre of Corbridge which is a lovely village with plenty of pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops, and a great base to explore Northumberland."

Also there is a railway station and a bus service so you do not need to use the car much. (A parking permit is provided which is very helpful). We really enjoyed our stay and plan to return. We visited Newcastle, Hexham and Hadrian’s Wall. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the whole area very peaceful. Some issues we encountered-no instruction manual, no welcome pack (would have expected some tea bags and a pint of milk!) no fire wood, the sky lights in the bedroom did not have blinds, there were no toilet brushes, and the front door needs fixing. Also, the addition of a washing machine would be good (although one is not listed). We just feel that if the owners could address the above it would take this property from Premier League into Champions League and would take very little cost and effort to sort. That all said, we would still highly recommend this property.

Everything needed was available and very well appointed. We loved being in the center of Corbridge, it is such a lovely village !! The only thing I would suggest is to work on the locks we struggled with both, especially the front door lock, we could not use it most of the time.

  • "Absolutely beautiful property upgraded to a very high standard and extremely comfortable."

Great village with good selection of shops, cafes and pubs. Recommend both the Indian and Italian restaurants. I would have given 5 stars but there were no instructions on how to use the appliances (especially the blinds and underfloor heating). Also there are two showers both of which did not work properly. Need some finishing touches (toilet brushes, tin opener, washing machine etc). I have seen some previous comments and would say there is an iron and ironing board at the property. All in all we very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

  • "Enjoyed our stay but as the previous review said having no wardrobe in the main bedroom or anywhere to hang anything was a bit inconvenient."

This is the first cottage we have rented where there was no visitors book with any instructions how some facilities worked and also no welcome pack. The house is in a good position in the centre of corbridge and just needed a few tweaks to make it perfect.

  • "A beautiful, exceptionally stylish and well presented property in a great location in the centre of Corbridge."

However, it was lacking in some basic facilities which lets it down unfortunately. The only hanging space for clothes is in the second bedroom which makes it very awkward if two couples are staying. Even a few hooks in the en-suite bedroom would help. No mirror in the en-suite shower room which is tricky if you need to have a shave. True, there is one in the main bathroom but again, not ideal if juggling with other guests. The biggest issue we had was the lack of iron and ironing board. We had travelled up for a family celebration and discovered we couldn't iron anything on the morning of the event so my husband had to make an hour long round trip to his parents house to iron his clothes. Thank goodness we had that option! Such a shame as these are little things to remedy but have a big impact without them. If these were resolved we'd have no hesitation in going back as it really is a beautiful property aside from these niggles.

  • "We had a fabulous time, the cottage is lovely."

The interior is great, especially the kitchen dining space. We didn’t hear any noise from pub next door, so no issues. Parking was easy. Excellent location in the village with a coffee shop right next door. We’re now suffering TV envy, the smart TV and Wi-Fi worked well. Only a few wee points; blinds on the veluxes in the main bedroom would be good, as would an iron, ironing board and vacuum (we like to keep our rented places tidy!). Thank you!

  • "Lovely renovated cottage in a busy little town with lots of facilities."

The house is extremely well kitted out having more than enough kitchen equipment, two great shower rooms and plenty of space both upstairs and down. It would have been helpful to be told the key safe was at the back of the property and the front door wasn’t in use. Also some information about the house; which bins belonged to the property, when the bins were to be put out, which was the recycling bin and that some of the blinds were operated remotely would have been of assistance. There are two velux windows in the ceiling of the larger bedroom which do not have blinds meaning that the room was very bright at dawn. A bit of a challenge if you are a light sleeper. Ruth the owner was accessible and easy to get in touch with. Overall I would highly recommend a stay at Bramwell House, the points raised are far outweighed by the high standard of the renovation, amenities in the house and village plus the excellent situation, so close to Hadrian’s Wall etc

When the sun is shining, head out onto the small patio area and why not uncork a bottle of wine to savour a glass?

As the evening cools, retire into the sitting room, where you can sprawl on the sofa as the woodburning stove crackles before you and relish a hot chocolate.

As eyes grow heavy, climb up the wooden staircase to reveal two bedrooms, both doubles and one offering an en-suite shower room for a rinse.

The city of Newcastle is also within easy reach, home to a vibrant nightlife for a bar crawl, Laing Art Gallery to see unique oil paintings and the Life Science Centre.
