  • "Very well presented and equiped cottage."

Location is ideal with easy access to facilities in the centre of town. It felt like home away from home. Parking was tight and I took note of other reviews when deciding which car to bring. Good job I did not bring the Range Rover. Advert said Sky TV but this was not available. Glad we have a Nexflix account which we could use.

  • "Everything was great."

The house was handy for everywhere - shops, bars restaurants and travel further up the coast. On arrival, we found everything was clean and of a high standard. The owner met us there and was helpful and very pleasant.

  • "The only thing we would suggest is to put some curtains/blinds on the large window in the lounge."

This would help those who don't wish to be on show when sitting at the dining table!

  • "Abdul was extremely helpful and personable."

Nothing too much trouble. We found that the cottage was close to the centre of the town without being too noisy. Good location , clean and very comfortable. Over three levels, so may not be suitable for people with mobility issues. Ideal for a small family. There was only two of us, so the one bathroom was not a problem. Morpeth is a very nice town with good pubs, eateries and shopping. A great base for seeing Northumberland which is stunning.

  • "Suggest you amend small detail in the property description: there is no balcony which one can step through to."

It is a ‘juliet’ balcony which opens up with double doors, giving light and fresh air and a view!

  • "This cottage is very centrally located indeed."

Well-equipped, lots of interesting features. All appliances and wifi worked well. Parking does need some careful driving to enter, but was very helpful. Utility area at back of parking also helpful for empty cases etc. Owner pleasant and helpful, and also serves good takeaway curry at the Morpeth Tandoori just round the corner.

  • "We could not fault the accomodation."

It felt very luxurious, clean and comfortable. Abdul has done an exceptional job in making a town centre holiday cottage a very desirable place to stay. Our 5 year old was very excited to have a TV in her own room. All I would say is, make sure your car fits in the garage before you set off, our Golf estate only just fit, but with a little practice, parking got easier as the holiday progressed. Decor was fab but we would also suggest having less ornaments on show as this would help the owner to clean easier and would also reduce the chance of breakages.

  • "River Cottage is located close to the shopping centre."

Despite the pandemic all of the shops seem to be thriving. It was is a three minute walk to Marks and Spencer so we were able to stock up with food. Morrisons and Lidl are also located in the town. There are a number of beautiful walks to be had from the cottage; we enjoyed walking along the banks of the River Wansbeck and through Carlisle Park. Lots of history on the doorstep. River Cottage is well appointed and is quite luxurious and had everything we needed. There was bottle of wine, fruit juice, chocolates, milk and fresh flowers provided the owner, Abdul, as a welcome which was much appreciated. Abdul greeted us warmly and is very helpful and friendly person. He owns and runs the Morpeth Tandoori take away close by. We enjoyed some delicious meals from there. The ground floor comprises a garage with a utility area. The garage was large enough to accommodate our Volkswagen Passat Estate Car with careful manoeuvring. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

  • "This cottage is absolutely beautiful with everything you need."

The owner Abdul was very friendly and helpful, and was available if you had any issues. The cottage is in the middle of town but does have its own parking. It is a two minute walk into town with all the restaurants and shops on your doorstep. Inside the cottage the furnishings are excellent with many beautiful and unusual ornaments which add to the character of the cottage. Bedding and all soft furnishings are of a very top quality. It was spotlessly clean which I’m always very picky about but I couldn’t find any fault at all. We had a throughly enjoyable week here exploring Northumberland which my husbands loves as this was his birth place. You can see how popular this cottage is, as it is always booked up months in advance. Thanks Abdul for an excellent holiday.

  • "Lovely accommodation."

Everything you could think of provided. Very central for Morpeth but the cottage is situated in a quiet location. The owner is on hand if you have any queries (which we didn't). A fantastic 6 day break in Northumberland.

  • "Such a convenient location, tucked behind the Main Street."

Well placed for so many interesting places. Easy walk to the station and in future would love to take the train to Edinburgh or Newcastle when travel is safer. The garage was fine for our small car but it is tight. Historic buildings do have drawbacks. Public parking is all around and very cheap. Large and small supermarkets are close, the luxury of M&S food less than 5 minutes away was great. The cottage was warm and cosy with lots of amenities. Would love to return soon.

  • "Nice place in a great location We had a week in River Cottage in July and loved the location and convenience in the town."

The accommodation was lovely and equipment/facilities all as advertised. It was a fabulous central point for exploring Northumbria. When we reported a problem with the WiFi it was sorted in a couple of hours: you can’t ask for better than that! There was four of us and we enjoyed the loft style living in a great, very comfortable conversion, praise to Abdul for tenacity in making this effort which is apparent when we read the story and saw the pictures. The garage was tight but we did get our Mazda CX-5 in and out without any “modifications” to the paintwork!

  • "Absolutely beautiful cottage, and the owner was so helpful."

Our car was a little too big for the garage, but we simply parked across the front of the garage door. For us, aged 70 and 68, the bed was just a little too firm - we really would have appreciated a memory foam mattress topper. Nevertheless, we would happily stay here again (bring our own topper, perhaps?) and can thoroughly recommend it.

  • "Cottage is just beautiful, furnishings and equipment are very high quality and location right in centre of Morpeth is ideal."

The only slight niggle is that that if you have a large family sized car or SUV as we did then it won’t fit in the garage and you have to park on adjacent public car park. There is a parking time restriction of a maximum 3 hours between 8am and 6pm but otherwise plenty free parking available.

There was a welcome pack waiting for us on our arrival with essentials like tea, coffe milk, etc. Perfectly placed for trips further a field up to the nortumbria coast, and excellent train link to Newcastle, and then metro onto, the coastal towns.

  • "River Cottage is extremely well placed, being tucked away just off the main street in Morpeth."

It's only a four minute walk to the main shopping arcade and there are also plenty and varied eating places within a short walking distance. For anyone who likes curries there is the Morpeth Tandoori within 100 yards of the cottage and it serves really outstandingly good Indian food. The cottage itself has recently been completely renovated to a very high standard and is well equipped throughout with a spacious kitchen area with every facility that one could want. There is a similarly well appointed bath/shower room. All furniture throughout the cottage is new and of a good quality and the owner has clearly given thought to every need that the visitor might have. The internal garage is an added bonus and is clean, well lit and spacious and opened by an electric roller door, allowing parking with great security. Morpeth is an excellent location in Northumbria and we were able to access all of the many attractions, both near and far, with ease. River Cottage was a major factor in our having a truly memorable holiday in Northumbria and we would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending it.

This has everything you would want - and lots of extra touches such as bowls of chocolates dotted about the main living area, a welcoming pack with bottle of wine, milk, coffees and teas, lovely big fluffy towels, very comfortable beds and high quality bed linen. • "Everything about the house was clean and positively shining."

We were met by the owner on arrival and made very welcome. The integral garage was very handy since the property is behind the main street and if we were staying in Morpeth there was no need to take the car out. We could see the river from the living area and sat with the juliet balcony doors open enjoying the flow of air. The place was light and bright, fitted out to a very high standard, a tv in both bedrooms, heated tower rail, excellent shower, fully fitted kitchen, comfortable furniture and even bowls of sweets dotted about. The owner is right it is not suitable for children as the stair is pretty steep. Perfect for us we would like to return. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

  • "The ONLY negatives are a shortage of cutlery making the dishwasher not economical."

The cottage was advertised that it had a basic sky package, it didnt. It only had sky news which is also on the freeview platform. Also we had a vw golf with roof box and it was about 1cm away from not being able to enter garage. All of these points were easily got around in our case. ( 2 adults). The homeliness, decoration and cosiness were 10/10, and the owner was very polite and friendly. We have never seen a rental property as well decorated as this. The tumble dryer and washing machine were extremely helpful as we had traveled by car from Spain. The owner also ran the tandoori take away, just 10m away, it was the best.
