What guests are saying
We have just returned from a 4 night stay at 2 Organsdale Cottages.
The communication ahead of our stay was great and we 'checked in' with ease. The cottage was as listed so there were no surprises. We had a power cut on our first night/day due to a storm, and we were without heating, luckily there was a log burner in the living room with plenty of wood in the garage, unfortunately, there were no tools for utilising the fire. We contacted the owner who provided us with a temporary fix before having a whole set of tools and gloves delivered for us to use, with excellent communication! Some smaller kindling would be useful in future as we had to buy our own or a small axe to chop the larger logs. The property was in a fantastic location, just 20-30 minutes to lots of attractions, including Chester Zoo, Blue Planet Aquarium and Cheshire Oaks designer outlet, as well as Chester itself with the Cathedral and city walls. Many places were dog friendly, as was the property which was ideal for us. The property would benefit from a good dust and some basic maintenance but served well as a base for us visiting. The mattress and duvet did have quite a strong odour on the first floor and it may be that it needs replacing. A particular positive was the access to the forest via the Equestrian Centre for some nice loop dog walks, great to have this available from the doorstep! I'd definitely stay again and thanks to the owners for quick responses and sorting out our issue without any problems!
Cooker and oven were faulty we unable to cook food we had purchased for our stay owner did say the equipment would be replaced work on the roof was a bit annoying otherwise every thing else was ok
The cottage was really lovely and cosy, warm and welcoming.
I really enjoyed my stay, and ,although situated between 2 busy A roads, and opposite a very busy equestrian centre, it was a really peaceful stay. The bed deserves a special mention as it was SO COMFY!! The downstairs laminate and tile flooring was ideal for the 3 dogs, but would have hugely benefitted from some door mats to limit the muddy paw mess. It looks like most of the furniture came from the delightful furniture store, just next door to the Equestrian centre. Lovely quality. The kitchen had all the basics you would need, although the knives needed a really good sharpen. Fortunately I brought my own all purpose kitchen sharp knife! The bathroom was clean and tidy with separate walk-in double shower. FAB! Water pressure fantastic. The shower hose was leaking at connection so may need attention. Being on my own with 3 dogs, I was fine, but if it was accommodating 6 people, one bathroom may be too little. An ensuite on the top floor would be a great addition. Alternatively, an under the stairs toilet and sink would be a great option. The parking at the front AND back is a great facility. Be aware if you have pets/children that the front parking is on a busy road. In my opinion, the biggest letdown was the garden. Yes, it's a great asset especially with dogs, but it needs a good overall. It feels neglected and poorly maintained, yet it could be a vital selling point of the cottage. The lack of /broken outdoor lighting made negotiating the uneven and rapidly disappearing path from car to back door frankly treacherous!! Also spent quite a few minutes in the pitch dark trying to connect the key with the lock in the pitch dark. Not very pleasant especially as I was alone!. Also, one of the fence panels has completely disintegrated, allowing my dogs into next doors garden. I blocked the gap as best I could, but a new fence panel is urgently required. I did leave a note of some maitainence issues that needed addressing soon. These issues and others I have made in this review would make this cottage not just good/adequate, it would make it FABULOUS!! OVERALL, a lovely stay, that could have been fabulous
