Goldcrest

We LOVED our stay at Goldcrest.

We were a party of 7 and it was perfect for our group. The house is stunning and in a great tucked away location. The rooms were all clean and comfortable and the kitchen was excellently kitted out. Suzanne was lovely and accommodating both prior to our booking and during our stay. We spent a lot of the weekend commenting on how lovely the house was and I'm sure we would all happily stay there again. It was a perfect home from home. We hired a hot tub from party-tubs.co.uk and Lee was amazing! He set it all up in a gazebo with lights and music for us which was such a nice touch. We'd worried that we wouldn't be able to use the hot tub until the Saturday but it was hot enough and ready to use pretty much as soon as he'd set it up on the Friday. Highly recommend getting in touch with him (he's local to the area too).

We had a wonderful stay at Goldcrest.

We were a family group including teenagers and grandparents. Loads of space, well equipped, lovely walks from the door and a great pub 5 mins walk. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely stay.

Thank you.

This was an excellent property ideal for 6 adults and 4 kids aged from 6 to 12.

Very comfortable and well equipped. Parking was brilliant with sufficient room for our 3 cars and it could have accommodated more if required. The house which is a converted barn was 1 of 3 but was still private. Unfortunately the weather didn’t allow for much activity outside so we didn’t really take advantage of the substantial garden on the side. The whole farm and the rental houses were located in a a very picturesque part of the country and the views out of the upper window were great. The house itself was very spacious with 5 bedroom on the 2 upper floors and a large dining room and large lounge separated by a well equipped kitchen in-between on the ground floor. We had everything we needed to prepare our meals as we were eating in on all of the nights. The bedrooms were all very spacious with 3 having ensuite whilst the other 2 on the top floor had a shared bathroom. Very comfortable beds. Plenty of storage space and more than enough towels provided to go round. The whole house was very clean and as I’ve said before very well equipped. Very warm and cosy. The 10 of us never ever felt cramped and there was lots of room for us all. The owner, Suzanne, came to see us shortly after our arrival to make sure all was ok and it was good to see her in person after we’d spoken on the phone about the arrival/key procedure and getting more accurate directions to the property. We’d had great communication from Sykes and Suzanne from the moment we booked the property. We were stopping for 3 nights. Suzanne was also able to point out some local points of interest and the following day we did the 15 minute walk to Tittesworth Water Reservoir which offered a whole range of short and long walks and activities for the kids. Just the thing to build up an appetite. We didn’t have to use our cars at all whilst we were there. There was enough for us to do within walking distance. An added advantage was the proximity of the Lazy Trout pub about a 10 minute walk from the property. We had an excellent and very reasonably priced Sunday lunch there . It was also able to cater for 2 of our party who are gluten intolerant. We would certainly recommend Goldcrest after our very enjoyable stay. Thank you Suzanne. …..and thank you for the complimentary wine and chocolates. They were very much appreciated.

Great house for a family get together.

Really well equipped and plenty of space for everyone in the house, in the garden and in the parking area. Short walk to the local pub which serves good food and is child friendly. Not much further on to the reservoir with paths all around ,a very good restaurant/cafe and childrens play area. Owner is on site and it was pleasant change to be welcomed personally rather than ‘key is in lock box’. Also when we had a problem with loss of electricity Suzanne was round immediately to sort it out. Lots to do in the surrounding area for young and not so young. Would book here again without hesitation.

This property didn't disappoint.

Lovely rooms with a cosy atmosphere. Plenty of parking. We happily consumed the welcome gift of wine and chocolates. Suzanne, the owner, popped in to check we were OK and that we had everything we needed. Good communication, we were sent directions to find the property as the Sat Nav would take you to the next farm. Looking for an excuse to stay again.

The size and location of the property were ideal for us.

The owner was very welcoming and friendly. We had a wonderful stay and would certainly return if ever we had the chance. Highly recommended!

Amazing cottage.

Peace and tranquillity is redefined at this place, Great ambiance, perfect break at the heart of Peak district.

Fabulous stay Goldcrest.

Host welcoming and friendly.

Spacious and comfortable accommodation.

Lovely location and just a short walk to the pub. Would definitely go back!

Had a great week in the beautiful property.

Everything in there, home from home.Local pub just a short walk away serving lovely food, booking recommended. Suzanne very helpful and wine, chocs & flowers was a lovely touch . Thankyou will be staying again in the near future.

A great house in a beautiful setting.

There were 11 of us and the sitting room never felt crowded and we could all sit for a meal at the main table in the dining room. The 5 bedrooms are very comfortable and warm. Nice garden with rabbits running around and sheep in the next field. Lovely walk down to the reservoir and about 8km if you want to walk all the way round. The Lazy Trout pub within walking distance does great food and local beers.

Fantastic accommodation great settings

We were 6 adults , 2 babies and a toddler together for a family break The accommodation was perfect for us Clean and comfortable with everything we needed The location is excellent with lots of walks nearby The local pub serves very good food and is family oriented We had a really lovely week

We had a lovely stay at Goldcrest for my Mum's 70th birthday weekend.

The property was clean and had all the supplies we needed. There was plenty of room for us all. Would definitely stay again.

We all had a lovely time at Goldcrest celebrating a special birthday.

There was ample room for the ten of us and everything was clean and comfortable Highly Recommended

Everything about the stay was perfect

We had a wonderful stay in Goldcrest.

Bedrooms were comfortable. Huge sitting room and dining room were great for our big family gathering with 3 young children. Suzanne and family were really helpful with requests. The views are stunning and the area is beautiful to explore without having to go far in cars. We also had a great BBQ one evening. My only suggestion would be to supplement the kitchen equipment a bit with eg weighing scales and mixing bowls etc. We managed fine but it could have been easier. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay. Thankyou. Gill

Suzanne was an excellent host and very accommodating ensuring that everything was ok when we arrived, the property was very good, clean and spot on for all of our party.

Thank you Suzanne

Three families had a wonderful half term break here … with the added bonus of daily visits from the cows in the field by the garden!

The kids loved it. All rooms were v comfy and lounge big for all to gather after a busy day. Plenty of crockery. Oven could have been better. Full fridge / freezer with supermarkets not too far. Local pub short walk and the lake / water sports walkable 15-20 mins away with play ground / cafe. Thanks for a lovely stay …. We’re booking to come again as do much to do and v peaceful / beautiful countryside.

Thank you for letting us stay at Goldcrest!

It is a beautiful property with spectacular views and the setting was ideal for our family get-together. There was loads to do in the surrounding area (we particularly loved our walk up The Roaches and our boat trip at Rudyard Lake).

Very well appointed property with ample space for guests.

We rented it for a 60th birthday celebration in March. The living area was toasty warm with underfloor heating. Bedrooms were all comfy and the whole place was spotless. Nice welcome with wine and choccies and fresh flowers.

Lovely, warm barn conversion.

Well equipped kitchen for catering for the large group and plenty of space to eat and relax. Quiet and peaceful with walks from the door. Recommended.

An enjoyable stay.

Great walks from the door and close to local amenities. Will definitely book again.

a lovely place to stay with a warm welcome from the owner Suzanne who popped over to make sure we were ok and that everything was ok with the cottage.

it was just a weekend but we thoroughly enjoyed the break.

We had the most amazing stay at Goldcrest just before Christmas.

It really is a fantastic place! There was plenty of space in the accommodation for our party of 8. It was freezing weather, so we didn't get a chance to venture out much, but we enjoyed the stunning scenery from inside the house. The house itself was lovely and warm. We all loved the underfloor heating. The house is very well-equipped and immaculate. We couldn't have hoped for a nicer place to stay. The Christmas decorations were a beautiful touch, especially the real Christmas tree in the living room. We will definitely be returning here in warmer temperatures so we can enjoy the stunning location. We did enjoy a five minute walk to the local pub and we all found the food there to be delicious. It is a good idea to book though as it is very popular. The owners couldn't do enough for us. They made us feel welcome and made sure we had a wonderful holiday. We loved the welcome gift on arrival too. Thanks again. Highly recommended.

Lovely barn conversion, we had 7 adults and a toddler and had plenty of room.

Very well appointed kitchen. Very warm which was great as it was snowing when we were there. Could do with a second fridge in the utility, as not quite enough room for food and drinks for that many people. Owner very helpful and kind. 5 min walk to pub, 15 mins to the playground at the visitor's centre. Great stay, would return

We met Suzanne once we had unpacked and she gave us a very warm and friendly welcome.

The cottage was very cosy and clean and very well equipped. Our family ages ranged from 3 weeks to 80!! Plenty of space for all to get together and nice bedroom space with bathrooms for personal space. Kitchen was very well supplied with crockery and cutlery - dining room was an added space to go to and make meal times as special as we wanted. We were celebrating an 80th Birthday and was encouraged to decorate rooms as we pleased. Underfloor heating was plenty for the downstairs and individual stats for each bedroom made it perfect for all. Parking was more than adequate even though the other cottages were also occupied. Would definitely recommend this cottage for all families.

A very attentive owner who was there shortly after our arrival to greet us and as we left.

Underfloor heating was brilliant and the property was well equipped and comfortable. We had a lovely weekend. Would recommend.

Lovely holiday cottage in a great location.

Walks on the doorstep and a great pub down the road. Cottage is ideal for families or as we were a group of friends. This is our second visit and would definitely come back again.

Absolutely glorious, thank you!

We had a delightful time for my friend’s hen do, everyone was very impressed by the property and we were all comfortable and cosy! Brilliant :)

Our family group of 9 gathered to celebrate our eldest daughter's and my wife's birthdays.

The accommodation was perfect, exactly as described. Clean, comfortable, spacious and well appointed. Even though there were two other groups on site, we weren't disturbed or inconvenienced. Many thanks to Suzanne, who contacted me personally to make sure I knew the arrangements for access and to Jason for checking that we had everything we needed. All in all a great weekend was had by all. Thanks again.

Great property , with lovely views.

We had everything we needed for our birthday celebration girly weekend . Suzanne the host was great. Would 100% recommend this property .

Beautiful location, well kept, very clean good choice of bedrooms and bathrooms

We all loved the property and felt it was very well equipped and comfortable for a group of friends.

Some rooms might have benefited from an extra mirror to help with hair drying and more storage space. Overall, it was a wonderful weekend and the owner was very helpful regarding advice for local things to do and our leaving time on the Sunday. We would consider returning in the future.

We had a really lovely stay, the property was great, plenty of room for our group of 11, comfortable and clean, with everything we needed and a nice bottle of wine to welcome us!

The garden was excellent for playing games in, with beautiful views and the owner gave us some really helpful suggestions of what we could do locally. Excellent holiday location.

11 family members enjoyed a week at this property.

The accommodation was spot on for our needs. Plenty of en-suites. Spacious lounge and a brilliant garden space, lawn, for football and games for the grandchildren. Lovely pub 10 minutes walk. Tittesworth Reservoir just down the road with excellent play park and walk round the lake. Buxton, The Roaches, Rudyard steam train all nearby. So much to do in this area but Meerbrook such a delightful peaceful location. Owner very helpful and friendly. Will definitely look to book again.

Beautiful house and location.

Incredibly peaceful and comfortable. Suited our party well and would rebook if the occasion arises. Very welcoming and helpful host who recommended some beautiful walks, which were stunning!

Excellent accommodation and perfect facilities for a party of 8 adults.

Beautiful area. Great area for walking and places to visit.

Lovely cottage in great location.

Clean , big, with everything what we needed to feel comfortable. Very nice big garden and car park. Beautiful views. Thank You !

We really enjoyed our stay at Goldcrest Cottage.

The location was actually quite perfect for exploring the area and doing many activities. The Lazy Trout Pub is walking distance from the cottage and does really lovely food, but advisable to book in advance. The cottage is really well laid out and has a nice outdoor space and benches. The reservoir is very close by and great for water sports as well as the 2.5 hour walk around the reservoir which is beautiful. We were lucky enough to have great weather so even did some climbing and bouldering as The Roaches is a 10 minute drive away. It was a perfect holiday the only downside is the wi-fi, although we were told about that in advance. It was fine for basic requirements but not good enough for zoom calls etc! Leek is very closeby and there are lots of supermarkets and restaurants there too. We had a great break away and would recommend Goldcrest.

amazing and fantastic most hospitable host

Wonderful walks and loved The Roaches and other beautiful countryside.

Felt very safe everwhere we went.

Excellent stay, beautiful house and surroundings, stocked up with amenities and some nice touches.

Host was lovely and popped over to say hi. Under floor heating was perfect, nice and clean, comfy beds, spacious lounge and dining room for a large group. Perfect location for walking to the local reservoir or a drive in to Leek. A lovely pub only a 5 minute walk away serving great food.

The photos do not do justice to how large and lovely the house is.

We had a fantastic family Christmas with ample space for everyone. The owner could not have been more helpful and the house was decorated for Christmas and full of special treats too. Great location with walks from the front door. The village was lovely and the local church was welcoming as well. We will be back!

From the moment that I contacted Suzanne, she was incredibly welcoming and really attended to our needs, The barn was beautiful and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates which was a nice touch.

We were a group of 10 old university mates, the Lazy Trout Pub down the road was superb along with Tittersworth Water Sports we did axe throwing and archery. Along with some beautiful scenery I couldn’t recommend the Barns enough.

two families ( 12 people) from Austria.

The cottage was perfect for discovering the peak district. A nice pub with really good food in walking distance. nice place to stay. We can highly recommand the goldcrest cottage in meerbrook

When we arrived we were very pleased with the Barn/cottage, it was very clean and smelled lovely, so first impressions were great.

The owner was lovely and greeted us on our arrival, and explained the heating and facilities etc. She encouraged us to contact if there was anything we needed. The Barn had lovely big rooms, so our family of nine felt comfortable and spacious for the full week. Large fridge/freezer fitted in all our food, and the large range cooker, with eight hobs!! One fan assisted oven and one normal oven, which we only used to cook some buffet food but all worked well, plus there is a microwave and dishwasher and loads of crockery and cutlery so very well furnished. Very large corner settee, a large leather settee and a single large chair in the living room meant there was plenty of seating. The location was amazing too, the Goldcrest barn has a corner plot garden, so in front of the two large benches was a lovely front lawn for playing our games on whilst looking over the wall at the cows and sheep. We did a circular walk straight from the barn one day, the countryside is beautiful. We walked to the pub down the road, Lazy Trout, and had some great pub food and drinks for Sunday lunch,(very busy at the sunny Easter weekend but fortunately I had booked weeks in advance) and we even walked back down later on in the early evening to listen to the live music, which was great, t was a lovely atmosphere. We walked to the reservoir and back one day - this has a great play area for the kids and a nice cafe, plus a lovely walk all around the reservoir. There are lots and lots of places to visit within an easy drive from Meerbrook. Even when all three barns were occupied, it was still peaceful and quiet as all three barns have their own private grounds and outside seating. I would highly recommend this place.

This property is in a truly stunning location with fantastic views of The Roaches.

The accommodation was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed and more. We were a group of 10 adults and 2 children and we had plenty of room to all sit in the living room and dining room together and not feel cramped. The host was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning soon x

Fabulous location, views lovely all around, and reservoir with bird life an extra bonus.

Great peaceful walks near. The house was ideal for our Retreat space, spacious, comfortable, warm and the kitchen well equipped with everything we needed, with garden space outside for sunny days and French Windows so we could bring the sunshine in.

Goldcrest Barn was a perfect place to get together with Family to bring in the New Year.

It was spacious, comfortable, well equipped, very warm and cosy. Log fire was an added bonus. Great walks on the doorstep too.

The cottage was well-equipped and very warm.

Comfortable beds and bathrooms - plenty of hot water. We had an open fire on some nights which was a bonus. The nearby Pub 'The Lazy Trout' was excellent, food and ambience great. We had Sunday lunch and one evening meal there and breakfast on our last morning; about 5 minutes walk from the cottage. Lots to do in the area, good walking even in the rain we also visited Chatsworth House, Buxton and Bakewell.

Fantastic quiet location with lots of walks from the barn.

We really liked the outdoor space - great views and privacy. Accommodation is well laid out and house is very well equipped. The owner was very friendly and welcoming.

The accommodation was fine although some of the furniture was slightly dated and in need of a clean.

The bedrooms were lovely but could have done with for storage space. That would apply to the kitchen as well. Unfortunately there was an issue with the sewerage pipes outside. On two occasions they had a blockage causing it to leak out of the manhole cover. Talking to the guy who came to fix the problem, he mentioned that this has happened before. With four young children with us, this was obviously a big concern. The location of the accommodation was excellent and overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would certainly consider coming back.

A***********

The owners of the property were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Nothing was too much trouble for them. The property was ideal for my needs and we had a wonderful time. The only improvement I would suggest is to improve the road surface into the properties as this is very uneven and full of potholes.

A comfortable barn in a beautiful, tranquil location - well suited to large family groups, with generous space for dining and lounging.

Our party of adults and children enjoyed visiting local places of interest including the Roaches, the Tittesworth Reservoir and Buxton. The local pub, the Lazy Trout, has friendly service and good food and is a short walk away. For those who find it hard to disconnect, the wifi and mobile reception were not great, but this didn't bother us. Recommended.

Spacious accomadation for 6 adults, 4 children and baby.

Particularly helpful were the provision of stair gates as well as high chair and cot advertised. Lovely setting and well equipped.

Great location.

Spacious enough to cope with 8 adults and 4 young children without falling over each other (and toys). Plenty of space outside for children to use up energy. Friendly helpful owner who responded promptly to a couple of requests.

Great place and nice atmosphere.

A superb cottage with plenty of room for everyone.

The owners are very friendly and helpful.

An absolutely amazing place to stay!

We wanted to have somewhere that could not only sleep 10 people but that also had the living space for 10 people to relax / eat meals together [a lot of places lack this], but at Goldcrest we found the perfect balance of bedrooms vs living space. The house was gorgeous, clean and beautifully designed, with a well-kitted-out kitchen, spacious bedrooms [most with en-suite], and the most welcomed feature of underfloor heating! Location suited us perfectly - great for the local pub, for walks around the reservoir, and short car journeys to Leek and Buxton. Would definitely want to visit again!

A good family holiday with grandparents, children and grandchildren was had by all, and with an excellent local pub (The Lazy Trout) just 5 minutes away.

Everything was excellent, the bookings team were so helpful, saved me some money by letting me book direct.

Suzanne was lovely, and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a great weekend, thanks!

Wonderful location, excellent views and fabulous walking.

The owner was welcoming and very helpful. Perfect centre for a family or group holiday

A very enjoyable week in excellent accommodation and surroundings.

Probably the best we have stayed in as a family.

Spacious comfortable cottage in quiet location allowed all the married members of the family plus spouses to be together for happy week with all 5 children & the doting grandparents.

Huge sitting room, well-appointed kitchen with ample quality crockery, fine dining room plus opportunity to eat outside.Great bedrooms & bathrooms. Very friendly owner
