The Farmhouse

On arrival we were impressed with the farmhouse it was very clean and spacious the owner Mike was on hand to answer our questions.

Two slight niggles there were only 3 pans two medium and one small as we were not cooking on our weekend we didn't use them but I think we would have struggled if we did and also no little extras like a little milk,coffee,tea and sugar would have been nice. The views are lovely and it's a nice place to stay.

Lovely house, great size kitchen/dining roim and fantastic living room.

Bedrooms all good sizes and comfy. Hot tub was great. A couple of small points, oven needs a good clean and could do with a few more saucepans when cooking for 8.

Easy to find, in beautiful grounds.

The accommodation was beautifully decorated for Christmas making us feel welcome on arrival for our start to family Christmas celebrations. The bedroom and beds were comfortable and the kitchen and lounge spacious. We enjoyed the hot tub. Mike the owner was easy to contact when we had any queries and prompt to deal with any concerns.

Mike was very friendly and the property is stunning.

It could just do with a few personal touches such as tea, coffee and sugar. Most properties we stay at leave a welcome gift such as milk, bread or a bottle of wine for instance- just little details. We would definitely stay here again, hopefully when it's not so windy!

Great accommodation in a beautiful rural location.

Perfect for our family get away with the dogs. The slow cooker was a brilliant extra touch, ideal for us to use, and go out exploring for the day. Lots of extras that you don’t expect to find - such as games, cards etc. Host is great also, keeps himself to himself so you can enjoy your break but responsive if you need anything- brilliant!

The house was absolutely gorgeous.

Some great little touches and very spacious. This was great as we were housebound due to Storm Amy. It was overly warm but we tweaked the heating temperature. There weren't any prosecco glasses so we had to compromise. It could have done with a couple more frying pans as with there being only 1, breakfast was a chore. That said, the house is just perfect for a relaxing stay in the middle of nowhere.

This property is a home away from home.

From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. Mike is an amazing host and tended to our needs right away, thanks Mike your place is amazing!

Beautiful location, amazing views and lovely house.Beds comfortable , one of the floors needs some attention in the en-suite. Hot tub was a nice addition after a days walk. Outside table and chairs set was not present. Would happily return.

Beautiful property and stunning views, plenty of space, bedrooms modern also lovely big sytlish bathroom, it's everything you need for a break and more, we took the dog he loved it, plus he could run around the garden as it was enclosed.

Would definitely book again no doubt.

We all had a fabulous stay at The Farmhouse last week, the views couldn't be beaten!

Mike was a great host, around to answer all our questions as he lives on-site. There was more than enough space for our group of 7 adults. Beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. If I'm being picky, we would have liked a bigger or second fridge, to store our food and cool our drinks - as I said we were a group of 7 adults.

Stayed as a family of six adults and two pooches, from Mon to Fri.

Absolutely beautiful setting with a lovely property. Lots of room for everyone and the bedrooms were stylish and comfortable. We had a truly wonderful time utilising local attractions. Mike, the owner, was available at all times and such a nice gent. Highly recommended. The only improvement I would suggest is a larger fridge but a very minor point as we managed. Thank you Mike! X

We had 8 of us and a dog stay and it was perfect.

The area is beautiful, enough space for everyone and hot tub was the perfect centre piece. Mike, the owner, is brilliant he was helpful and was available to us if we needed anything. Really great guy! We would definitely choose to come back here. Thanks Mike!

Lovely spacious farmhouse clean & well maintained.

Would highly recommend as we had a great family break 4 adults 2 children & 2 dogs. Plenty of places to visit nearby.

This cottage is perfect for a group of 8 to stay comfortably with their dogs.

The house comes with the perk of a hot tub, which is clean, spacious and private. Parking is no issue, we had 4 cars and could park easily. Mike (the owner) was easily contactable and on site if needed. Wonderful views from the house too! Overall we loved our stay here…wish we booked for longer than two nights!

What a beautiful property!

The Farmhouse is a great place to stay; plenty of space, very comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen, everywhere was spotless on arrival, log burners, smart TV. The views from the farmhouse are incredible too. We were lucky enough to have stayed after a considerable downfall of snow which just made the break even more cozy, and made using the hot tub even better! The property owner, Mike, lives on the Farm and is a very approachable and helpful guy, from places to eat and drink to even providing us with a sledge to take full advantage of the snow! . Couldn't recommend The Farmhouse more, we will definitely be back in the future.

This is a spacious farmhouse in a great location with spectacular views.

It was perfect for a multi-generational and dog Christmas get together, plenty of land and apparently middle of nowhere location that's handy for a village too! Clean, very warm, comfy beds, good parking, fab water pressure, brilliant having boot and utility rooms. Lovely owner. Wonderful Christmas decorations up for us which was an added bonus. Look forward to visiting again when Mike's installed the big fridge! Only things we could see to enhance would be wet room floors would benefit from regrout, knives from sharpening and 1 more sideplate would make a set of 8. It's a stunning place we were sad to leave!

This was our second time staying at The Farmhouse, we booked the same weekend as the previous year for a pre Christmas break.

We had just as much a great time as we did there last year. This time it felt like the kitchen was a little less equipped, the knives really need sharpening! And there are limited things to cook with, an oven dish with a lid would be helpful and a jug for making gravy! The oven trays perhaps need to be replaced, they were very well used. The house was clean and warm and the beds are really comfortable. Some properties that you book provide a welcome pack which would be a nice addition, and a drawer with foil/cling film is helpful too. But those are just niceties and don't stop you enjoying your stay. We would definitely return.

The Farmhouse is set in lovely grounds with great views.

On arrival, met by Mike the owner, who was very friendly. The accommodation is very spacious and very warm and comfortable inside. The hot tub was fabulous, lots of different jets and lights and actually lovely and warm. Plenty of towels provided. Would have liked a laminated sheet on how to use the hot tub ( rather than the laminated sheet of 24 points on what not to do in the hot tub), Mike did show us on arrival but easy to forget. No tea, coffee, milk or any other food related welcome for arrival. Not a problem if your expectations are nothing so you can bring everything. Beautiful log burner, but again no logs at all, just paper in the fire, so again bring your own logs and firefighters if you want a nice fire. All in all a lovely break.

Lovely cottage/house in a great setting, well equipped and serviced.

Lovely hot tub and seating area. Note front garden is enclosed but don’t let your dog loose in there if agile as will be over the wall. Hot tub area is not enclosed. The views are beautiful and paddocks and footpaths to walk. A lovely peaceful haven and base for the Staff/Derbys moors and peaks.

Excellent property and all amenities you could require.

Only thing could do with a spare fridge as with 8 people in a self catering property a 2nd fridge would make a huge difference. Perfect location for a chill but also walks are available .

We arrived to see a beautiful farmhouse in the middle of rolling hills and fields with 360`views .

As three generational family holiday there was something for everyone. Well equipped family kitchen / eating area to sit and chat around enjoy good food, drinks and games. All 4 bedrooms are a good size. Can't fault a thing. Mike the owner/ neighbour so friendly and helpful the 3 grandson loved watching him in the forge. Mitch the dog his righthand helper was always pleased to see us. We had a fantastic week in the Peak District exploring everything we could locally, lots of walking , fun and laughter had by all all, thinks Mike for a very memorable uk holiday.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. The farmhouse is beautiful, lovely sofas, beds, fully equipped kitchen, great gardens and lots of space around with views to die for. The hot tub is great to have, we were in it in all weathers. Would definitely stay again.

We had a really enjoyable 2 weeks here, although slightly dampened by the weather.

The house was as advertised and was nice and roomy and a comfortable size for our party of 5. The house is well equipped and has a nice large kitchen and dining room. We enjoy cooking and made great use of the large cooker. Michael, the owner and host, is very welcoming and responsive to any requests and was a mine of information on the local area. When we informed him of a problem we had with the dishwasher I have never seen an integrated dishwasher replaced so quickly in all my life. Another bonus with the property was the outdoor hot tub which was put to very good use. There are lots of things to do in the area to suit all ages; such as Alton Towers, Chatsworth House, local cave systems and museums. A lot of the Peak District towns and markets are well worth a visit. There are also a lot of pubs hotels and restaurants to suit all tastes. We would gladly come back to this area for another summer holiday.

It is in a beautiful location and Mike the owner is very helpful. We were celebrating my sons 40th birthday and Mike brought over a lovely bottle of champagne which was very much appreciated. The beds are exceptionally comfortable which really helps make a holiday. The HotTub was cleaned daily and we made good use of this even in the rain. The property could definitely do with a bigger fridge as mentioned in previous reviews and we also felt a mop to dry up the utility room floor after using the HotTub would have been very helpful.

Great house, comfortably accommodated 6 of us.

Comfortable beds, clean and tidy. Kitchen well equipped. Plenty of parking. Hot tub was great and enjoyed. The hot tap in the main bathroom needs to be fixed and the utility room would benefit from a couple of plug sockets. Also a broom and mop would be handy, floor does get wet when coming in form the hot tub. Only 1 bin bag for the large bin! We enjoyed our week at The Farmhouse, Mike was welcoming and on hand if needed.

Fantastic place to stay!

Went to celebrate my 30th birthday (st Patrick’s weekend) All amenities were fit for purpose and owner Mike was lovely! Hot tub was clean and ready to use on arrival! House throughout was clean and tidy, bedding was clean and readily done, towels available for showers and hot tub too! All in all a fabulous place all round. Spacious too! And a beautiful location..views were brilliant to wake up to! Thank you Mike for our lovely stay!

Wow All decorated for Christmas it was a great surprise .

we had a Christmas themed day on the Tuesday planned .Secret Santa .Christmas brunch and a Christmas meal in evening while all dressed up for a Murder Mystery. Good fun .The farm house is gorgeous and we loved the hot tub.We couldn't find a dust pan and brush maybe the elves had it !! Otherwise all perfect

Really couldn’t fault it. Clean, comfortable and very spacious yet warm and cosy. Very well equipped kitchen making home cooking very easy. The hot tub was wonderful and even though it was chilly being November we used it every evening. Mike, the owner, was very helpful. Ideally situated for visiting Stoke on Trent, Matlock, Leek and other visitor attractions.

The house is lovely, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We really appreciated the hot tub which we used most days and was cleaned/sorted out daily by Mike. Found the paddock really useful for letting our English Pointer have a good run. Mike is the perfect host. Very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

The views are stunning. The attention to detail by Mike and his team at the property is outstanding. Every room in the house was spotlessly clean. The gardens are beautiful and there’s a paddock to exercise your dog. The hot tub was used by us everyday and was cleaned each morning. We highly recommend a stay at The Farmhouse. We will definitely be returning.

A really good holiday cottage in a lovely rural setting with plenty of amenities and things to do in the local area.

The cottage was plenty large enough for 8 of us and was comfortable and well appointed. The owner was on hand, very friendly and happy to help with any small issues that cropped up. The kitchen and dining equipment (crockery, glasses etc.) could have been slightly better but this didn't impact on our holiday at all. The hot tub was a real bonus and very well maintained. A very good property from which to enjoy the surrounding countryside.

Mike was the best host.

He was helpful and made us feel at home. What an amazing and knowledgeable host. We definitely will return because of the hospitality that we received from Mike. Thank you Mike for your caring and knowledge, you definitely made our kids have an amazing stay!

A few basic provisions would be nice, there was no hand soap in most of the toilets, no cleaning sprays for kitchen.

The only fridge for 8 people was an undercounter one we managed as such but others may not. Like i say these are only very minor faults but overall most things were great, there was an abundance of towels for everyone the hot tub was superb and plenty of room for all guests and everyone reported that the beds were comfy. Mike the owner was very helpful and welcoming we spent quite abit of time talking to him about his plans and projects for his 'small holding', we would definitely return at some point

We are old fashioned and can cook and like to cook. The kitchen needs to be far better equiped,other than that it's a great venue thank you Mick.

Great location, superb views, postcode took you straight to the front door, on arrival Mike the owner introduced himself and was extremely friendly and helpful, any questions later on as soon as I phoned, he responded and dealt with it.

Fabulous cottage in a lovely location.

You couldn't get better views. Clean and well equipt with good facilities. Mike was very helpful and welcoming, nothing was any trouble. We were slightly worried that it didn't have an electric car charger, as advertised, but even with a fully electric car we managed no problem as there were so many local chargers around. There's lots to do in the local area, too much to fit into 1 week. Recommend Luds church, Biddulph grange, Trentham monkey forrest, Rudyard lake and Tittesworth reservoir. We had a great holiday and would more than happily go back.

The house was great.

It was well equipped and was very nicely furnished. The location is great too. Generally very clean. Only things that could improve it were to have a few more glasses as most were plastic and drinking wine from a plastic cup isn’t ideal!

Great facilities inside the cottage outside would benefit from extra chairs and table & chairs to eat outside. The grounds are kept beautiful and everything was clean and well looked after. The owner was very friendly and works hard to keep up the standard. We were a party of 8 and 3 dogs. Everyone in the party had a great time. Thank you

The property was very clean and tidy and so felt welcoming. The owner was on hand at an appropriate distance to help with any queries. Our family were all impressed with the house layout and would return. We felt the site photos did not do the property justice. Secluded spot with Brilliant views, would recommend this property.

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was very well presented and comfortable, had a beautiful hot tub that was clean and well maintained by Mike the property owner who was extremely helpful and friendly. We managed to find some beautiful walks and fully recommend Rudyard Lake if you park at the station you can either walk to lake or towards Leek. A bit of information on walks in the area would of been helpful. We really enjoyed our stay{ end of march} and will return.

The owner was so friendly and facilitating! Hot tub is a lovely added feature. Beautiful surroundings (our dog would have loved all the fields and walks)! The cottage itself is really spacious for groups and also well equipped - I did take things of our own but most of which we didn’t use as it was already there! Overall, brilliant stay and would most definitely return!

Wonder family trip away, the farm house had everything we needed, spacious, clean, amazing views, we didn’t have the best weather but didn’t affect our trip, the owner was very helpful but not intrusive, very friendly and always available to give information and great knowledge of the area.

The hot tub was upto tempting arrival and ready to use on arrival, beautiful area to visit, looking forward to going back again, would love the back garden to be secured for dogs as the front is this but there are some slight low points of the wall, but still secured, had a fantastic stay

Location is isolated so peace and quiet is guaranteed, excellent views on a clear day.

Front garden is small but enclosed for dogs to run around, the owner let us use the fields he owns for our dogs to run off lead. The owner lives on site and responds to any problems you may have he also pointed out Rudyard Lake (3 mile drive) for a long walk Cottage was well equipped and comfortable for all 8 of us, hut tub was up to temperature on arrival and the owner showed us how to use this as soon as we arrived, smart tv with Netflix we enjoyed several films as a family, big table off the kitchen for meal time, we had 6 teenagers on the WiFi plus the TV and it didn't let them down. Bad points- no stairgate available for toddlers or to stop dogs going upstairs and downstairs bedroom is noisy from creeky landing and bedroom above. We would definitely consider this place again for a relaxing get away.

We stayed for Xmas and New Year and had the most magical fairy tale stay we could have wished for.

The cottage is perfect in every way we really didn't want to leave. If I didn't have my own pub I would have booked again for this year. Mike the owner was truly a perfect host and was within easy reach had we needed him for anything. Honestly could not fault a thing and would recommend to anyone wanting to escape for a totally idyllic break.

Lovely Property in a glorious setting, we have just spent 2 weeks there in not such great weather but had a wonderful time.

Mike the owner could not have done more for us, so helpful and nothing was too much trouble, which we really appreciated. The property has amazing views (need to be seen to be believed) and 5 paddocks which Mike is more than happy to let any four legged friends be exercised on. The property is a real home from home and has everything you could possibly need for your stay including a relaxing secluded jacuzzi.

Lovely garden and great hot tub. Owner Mike is very helpful . Beds very comfy. Having 3 bathrooms is great for getting ready in a morning. We visited Biddulph grange national trust. Amazing gardens and well worth a visit. We also went to Jodrell Bank discovery centre and Poole cavern at Buxton . All good days out . Really lovely Chinese delivered to the farmhouse by hosi Chinese in Biddulph. Highly recommend this property you will not be disappointed

8 of us altogether and couldn’t fault anything. We were lucky with the weather which helped but even so the setting is just beautiful and the views amazing. The Farmhouse is just gorgeous and had everything we needed and easily accommodated the 8 of us plus two dogs. Loved the evenings in the garden, bbq on, hot tub on enjoying everyone’s company the weather and the stunning views. We would love to stay again. Some great places to visit nearby too. This is an amazing holiday home!

It has everything you need to make a perfect holiday. The house was immaculate and the hot tub was well maintained. The beds were super comfy, with good quality bedding. There was also a baby travel cot. The views from the house were so beautiful, they were medicine for your mind, you could see the mountains in Wales. We met the owner who was so helpful and informative, a very lovely man who wanted to ensure we had the best holiday.
