Shunter's Nook is a lovely pet-friendly property in the village of Colwich, Staffordshire, nestled in the heart of a conservation area.

This property is perfect for a family or friends searching for an escape, boasting gorgeous rural vistas.

Step inside this charming retreat and feel instantly at ease as you explore its thoughtful layout and welcoming touches.

The kitchen/diner provides a modern space for preparing meals, equipped with an electric oven, induction hob, slimline dishwasher, and washer/dryer, while offering a pleasant spot to gather and enjoy home-cooked dishes on the dining table.

Continue through to the sitting room, where there is a modular sofa which a family can cosy up on or if they prefer, they can reconfigure to sofa and 2 chairs or double chaise where a couple can enjoy putting their feet up in front of the log burner effect fire, and watch the Smart TV, or DVDs of their choice, this room is a chilled setting for unwinding after a day of exploration.

Outside, the enclosed courtyard invites you to enjoy alfresco moments with its lovely views stretching out towards the surrounding countryside, providing a peaceful place to enjoy your morning coffee.

The view of the canal is a standout feature, perfect for scenic strolls or peaceful moments by the water, while the river Trent also offers picturesque walking opportunities close by.

As the property is a railway cottage, unsurprisingly there is a railway line nearby, however, if you wish to use railways for day trips and outings, a short trip to Rugeley Trent Valley would allow you to explore the wider area with ease.

When it is time to rest, upstairs you’ll find a king-size bedroom, which can be arranged as a twin on request for convenience, and a double bedroom, both designed for a fine place of privacy.

The bathroom, featuring a bath with a shower over, is on hand for those busy mornings getting ready.

In Stoke-on-Trent, delve into the world of ceramics at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, stroll through the stunning Trentham Gardens and encounter the monkeys at Trentham Monkey Forest, or visit the World of Wedgwood for a mix of heritage, craftsmanship and interactive experiences.

Lichfield, famed for its three-spired cathedral and profuse Georgian architecture is 11 miles away.

For a more exhilarating day out why not visit Drayton Manor theme park and Zoo, or Alton Towers theme park.

If you prefer to stay local there are lots of activities to engage in which you can either walk to or take a very short drive to.

Anglo Welsh in Great Haywood (1.8 miles away) offer day boat hire with tuition, or if you prefer an aerial view why not take a trip in a hot air balloon with Wonder Days experiences which are located near Stafford.

Another great family day out is Go Ape,with nearly 1,500 metres of tree-to-tree crossings on our epic Treetop Challenge – the longest combined crossing of any Go Ape site, it's a test of nerve and balance, high above the forest floor.

Or if you’re new to the trees?

Build confidence on our Treetop Adventure – perfect for younger explorers and first timers.

Oakedge shooting ground is less than a 5 minute drive, and for fishermen, not only is there the canal and river, there are 2 course fishing pools, Carney Pools and Bishton Pools which offer day tickets.

Lovely 3 nights autumn break at the cottage.

Cottage very cosy with easy access for walks along canal towpath. Owners very friendly and cottage well equipped, we enjoyed the snack pack and essentials left. They were much appreciated. Only area to mention was the shower, with the head and temperature tricky to control.

We have stayed at a number of Cottages with Sykes and found them all to be of a very high standard and have subsequently returned to many.

This one really stands out as exceptional, the accommodation is outstanding and presents a cosy well appointed environment. The added benefit is that the friendly hosts live next door and couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. Will return.

It was a great cottage that had everything we needed, and was lovely and clean.

Walks along the canal from the front door were very enjoyable and plenty to do locally. Would definitely recommend.
