Riverside Lodge

We absolutely loved our stay at Riverside Lodge.

From the moment we arrived, Claire and Sue made us feel so welcome. They had gone above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, with a lovely welcome basket waiting for us and the lodge spotlessly clean and incredibly comfortable. A special mention also goes to Lee, the gardener, whose knowledge of the birds and wildlife is absolutely incredible. It was a real pleasure chatting with him and learning so much about the beautiful surroundings. The setting is simply stunning. The gardens are beautifully maintained, and the river and lake create such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so memorable. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Riverside Lodge and can’t wait to return!

A very nice cottage set in a lovely garden in a good location for many local attractions.

Beautiful scenic peaceful location.

Plenty of local attractions for visiting. The property is tastefully furnished with a cosy kitchen diner and upstairs lounge giving views of the river. Check in / out is simple, would certainly return if in the area. High recommended.

Lovely and peaceful setting.

Plenty of walks in surrounding area. Easy access to places like Clumber Park, Sherwood Forest, Creswell Craggs to name a few. We only saw another couple in the Mill House extension but not sure what it would be like if the large house was full of visitors too. Slightly cool for a couple of nights but once we worked out what to do with the heaters it was fine. A great stay and would return.

I really love this place - it’s so peaceful and beautiful. The owners are wonderful - very nice people. This time, I must mention the new(ish) housekeepers, Clair and Sue, who do an immaculate job and genuinely care that your holiday is perfect. Lee the gardener does a great job too and he is helped by Jess, who is my favourite. Thank you so much to everyone. I’ll be back!

Property was lovely clean evever and peaceful in beautiful gardens, the Lodge was very relaxing and had everything you needed and more, The welcome pack is a lovely little touch and much appreciated never had that before at a property, We stayed sat- to thursday morning but could of stayed longer if we would of had the time, if we are ever in the area again we would definitely stay again.

Enjoyed a peaceful week here, what a beautiful setting, enjoyed strolling around the extensive garden listening to the birds and the water, very relaxing.

The Lodge was equipped with everything we needed. I was hesitant about booking due to the ceilings upstairs however they were not an issue at all and neither one of us bumped our heads all week. Thank you for the welcome pack, fresh flowers and toiletries. Comfortable bed and lounge. We've had a wonderful week with glorious weather and will highly recommend a stay at Riverside Lodge.

Admittedly helped by the glorious weather, we had a lovely time at Riverside Lodge and found the fairly secluded situation a delight.

We would certainly book again if we wished to visit the area for a second time.

Firstly let me shout it out loud that the lodge does have a BATH TUB!

I had a great time was a very peaceful place and the owner came round to fix a lid on the sink and was very friendly and nice all in all I really enjoyed my stay!

The views are beautiful and you are a bit in the middle of nowhere but that was what I needed

When entering the property I was very impressed, looked really clean and tidy.

There was a lovely welcome pack in the Kitchen including wine, biscuits, chocolates and crisps. Also milk and orange juice in the fridge. Upstairs in the lounge was a vase of fresh flowers. I had a lovely week in the property, it was warm and clean My only niggle was no hanging space in the bedroom I appreciate that it is in the eves but even hooked on the bedroom door would be useful.

We were well pleased with the comfort and convenience of the holiday accommodation and the friendly welcome from the owners.

Happy to return at some time in the future.

. kept up to up to a great standard,, gardens come park was lovely ,,it was nice to sit in the kitchen with the doors open ,, in fact hardly ever closed them,, Deborah and Ashley are lovely people it was nice to share knowledge about the garden with Ashley, Lee the gardener was very funny.hope to come again in the spring

A great place to stay.

The owners are great - very responsive, lovely people. The place is very comfortable and the gardens are breathtaking. You can go to the nearby Cresswell Crags and Harley gallery, to the Victorian Schoolhouse cafe and to Clumber park very easily from here. I love this place.

We had a lovely, peaceful stay at Riverside lodge.

The gardens are beautiful, with lots of wildlife around. The owners are friendly but not intrusive and left a very much appreciated welcome pack. Lots of places to visit within easy reach, several national trust places. The cottage was clean and comfortable and also well equipped. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely accommodation set in great surroundings which was also quiet and peaceful.

Enough items and facilities provided for a self catering home and we very much appreciated the welcome pack. Loved eating outside and watching the wildlife. Plenty of places to visit from this base both near or a bit further out. Owners welcoming and very approachable. Very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

We arrived in glorious sunshine and I immediately went exploring the garden which was massive, and I mean MASSIVE!

! It had a wonderful mix of wildlife with some areas left untouched and all the wild flowers were in full bloom, and some areas which were beautifully maintained but still had a hint of wild about them. There were bird boxes all over the property which as far as I could tell were all occupied and we even saw (at a distance) some baby Blue Tits poking their heads out of one. As for the cottage itself it was absolutely beautiful with the kitchen and bathroom downstairs and the front room and bedroom upstairs giving fantastic views of the garden out of one side, and views across the fields out of the other. There was a welcome pack which included a large bag of crisps, a box of Cadburys Roses, some top notch chocolate biscuits, a pack of hot cross buns, a bottle of red wine (which was delicious), milk and orange juice in the fridge, and a selection of tea bags (Yorkshire Tea) and coffee bags (Taylor’s of Harrogate) which was a really nice touch. There was even a vase of fresh tulips upstairs. Everything in the cottage was very modern and there was absolutely everything that two people would need for a weeks holiday. The hosts were marvellous and didn’t try to impose on you but were there if you needed to ask anything, and they had the cutest little puppy who was just 10 weeks old. Oh, did I mention the mill pond? The garden was so vast that it included the old mill pond which was a haven for wild birds such as Mallard, Coot, Tufted Duck, Moorhen, and there were Pied Wagtail, House Martin, Grey Wagtail, Great Tit, Blackbird etc around the stream that flowed off it. You could even hear the Pheasants calling from the fields next door. By the way, it was just a 9 minute drive to Sherwood Forest which has many walking trails. All in all Riverside Lodge is a fantastic place to stay whether you go for a day or a week. Wonderful!!

We had a lovely couple of nights away in this beautiful cottage.

The welcome pack was a very nice gesture and much appreciated. The cottage itself was beautiful and exactly like the pictures, we had no issues at all whilst we were there. The garden was a dream, our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! We were both worried about wifi due to work commitments but it worked perfectly, we also did some cooking whilst we were out there and the kitchen was very well equipped. I did need a blender to make a cheesecake and the lovely owner was able to give me a blender from their property for this! It is truly such a beautiful place and we will definitely be coming back in the future as we both really enjoyed our short stay! Thank you for the hospitality :) Rajan and Sharmin

Outstanding!

Riverside Lodge surpassed all our wishes. Very spacious and well equipped with everything we needed for our weeks stay and of a high quality. Super comfy bed and sofa. Extra special were the vase of tulips and the basket full of goodies including wine and chocolates! Very clean throughout. Lovely views from the windows including the garden which we really enjoyed. Lots of different areas to walk around or sit either by the pond, river or waterfalls and enjoy nature. Very relaxing and beautiful. Thank you Debbie and Ashley. We loved exploring the area including Clumber Park and also the local pub with its amazingly good food!

A lovely clean, cosy and comfortable cottage.

We stayed during February and were lovely and warm which was important because the weather was cold and damp. Surroundings were beautiful and within easy reach of several places of interest. We hope to visit again

A lovely place to stay.

I visited for a writing retreat and it was the perfect place - comfortable, clean, peaceful and in beautiful surroundings. The little touches like the hamper on arrival made me feel very welcome. The price was great. Highly recommedned.

The cottage is lovely we could imagine in summer the tranquility of the place would be superb.

Riverside Lodge is a peaceful and tranquil place to stay.

There is a large waterside garden for you to explore. It's ideally located for visiting the many historic sites in the area. Ashley & Debbie are very friendly & helpful, the welcome basket was a lovely touch. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Ashley and Deborah were very approachable but not at all intrusive. We were encouraged to enjoy the beautiful gardens and river. If your looking for a place to relax this is it. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise.

We stayed for 7 days at the beginning of June, when we were blessed with magnificent British summer weather. A very nice surprise was a nice welcome pack for the weary traveller. The Lodge itself is a lovely property, extremely comfortable and well equipped. The grounds in which the lodge is located are breathtakingly wonderful. Located on the Notts / Derby border it is an excellent base to tour the surrounding area. A huge thank you to the owners who maintain everything to such an extremely high standard.

Property was 5 star and owner was great lots to do with in 45 minutes the grounds at the property with ponds and river good pub 400m will book again.

We have been having cottage holidays for over 50 years and this is one of the best we have had.

The facilities were excellent and the garden is beautiful. We also received a very warm welcome. We have already booked for next year.

Accommodation spotless including bedding and towels The view every morning was a joy to wake up to.blossom everywhere,primroses dotted along the river bank and wildlife aplenty. We have just returned from a lovely relaxing stay at Riverside Lodge.

After each day's sightseeing it was a delight to return to this little oasis of calm to watch the various birds and wildlife in this amazing garden. The house was clean, well equipped, comfy bed and, unlike some holiday homes we have stayed in, very comfortable sofa and chair. We were left a generous welcome basket by the lovely hosts.

What a beautiful stay!

The lodge is fabulous, well equipped. Couldn't have asked for more! We almost didn't book as I wasn't sure there was a bath and I just love to have one, but there was! And it was so pleasant. Shower not extremely powerful but not a problem. Only other thing that got me was a few spiders and cobwebs but it was a November trip so that could be a factor. SO glad there was parking! The lodge is easy enough to find with the postcode and so close to local things like Cresswell Crags and the Holbeck gallery etc. We had a fabulous few day trips and it's not too far from Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest, and it was lovely coming back to this lodge which really felt like a home. Thanks so much.

I used Riverside Lodge as a base while on a course nearby but I would love to come back for a holiday.

It is a very peaceful, superbly equipped, and immaculately clean property. The hosts have thought of everything you might need and they made me feel very welcome. Their stunning garden is set within beautiful countryside. Riverside is well-positioned for a range of enticing holiday destinations. I could not have been more comfortable.

Wonderful stay at riverside lodge.

can't fault the lodge, the location, clean, welcoming accommodation, such beautiful gardens. This two week break, certainly exceeded our expectations. would recommend future bookings through Sykes , but I'm being honest here, for the same price, we will be going abroad next year, if all restrictions are lifted, as we felt this year all UK holidays are over priced, and a little exploitation is underlying, price wise.

We had a great week at Riverside Lodge, wonderful garden to enjoy in a peaceful location.

The lodge was well equipped with everything you would need. We visited the local pub most evenings to sit and enjoy ourselves and thats just a 10 min stroll away. Great hosts. All in all an excellent holiday.

This property is set in beautiful, well kept gardens.

Lots of moving water, streams and a large mill pond, all from the old mill which stood on the site. The owners are happy for guests to wander and enjoy. The setting is quite outstanding, peaceful and relaxing. The lodge itself stands apart, accommodation is warm and very comfortable. Lots to explore in the surrounding area.

Riverside Lodge was even better than its description very spacious well-equipped and provided a very relaxing peaceful atmosphere.

My partner & I visited Riverside Lodge last weekend.

Upon arrival we were gifted with a lovely arrival pack which had some treats and wine. The location was perfect for us, a great way to switch off and escape city life. The accommodation had everything we needed and more, the kitchen was a great space for cooking and over looking the grounds. The hosts were fantastic in every way and we would visit again. Everything was cleaned to a high standard. There was a lovely pub a short walk way, and great walking routes near by. Thank you for our stay!!

As a fairly tall and elderly person I found the stairs and sloping bedroom ceiling a bit awkward but everything else was extremely good.

Everything was excellent, brilliant experience.

We were extremely pleased from the moment we set foot into the grounds of the property, the most beautiful gardens comprise the old mill's lake and surrounding waterways that make for a heavenly setting.

The lodge itself was clean, well presented and had a cozy and welcoming feel. There was everything we needed and more (thanks to the extremely generous welcome pack). All in all a relaxing and comfortable stay. I would highly recommend it!

Cottage is very hot, and stairs quite steep, if you are carrying up luggage to the bedroom.

The Lodge and gardens are a haven of peace and tranquility. No mobile reception absolute heaven. Good location for visiting attractions in four counties. Would definitely recommend.

Contacted by e-mail prior to arriving, greeted by the owner who had left an excellent starter hamper for our arrival. Very well equipped and clean accommodation in an idyllic setting. All this was GREAT!! value for money.

Cottage & grounds were great as were the hosts.

Top of range accommodation with the most amazing welcome pack, Thanks Debbie. Slight confusion with directions to cottage as once we were on Old Mill Lane the cottage was on the right not the left & in Mill House grounds which wasn’t stated.

I would not hesitate to book this property again next time we are in the area.

A beautiful holiday home in a stunning location.

The property was well presented and plenty of comfortable seating provided upstairs and downstairs. We are both tall so the restricted head height upstairs was a bit of an issue, particularly at night. We will 100% be booking to stay again but hope to use pond view as that property has a walk in shower and standard height ceilings. We have to say the most wonderful thing about staying here is the beautifully loved and cared for, nature filled, calming and relaxing gardens. The most stunning we have ever had the joy to use and appreciate and a absolute tribute to the owners hard work and dedication. The garden is simply beautiful and worth returning for alone! This was such a beautiful location and the lodge was clean ,well furnished , stunning decor and little things that made it so special for example a vase of red roses.

This was our first venture into UK holidays, apart frfom short, hotel breaks, after many years of holidaying around the world.

We have reached that stage in our lives when we do not want the hassle (so to speak) of airports and flights and health considerations too now have a bearing. We chose cottage thinking that we could "do our own thing" and hoped for peace and tranquility, rest and relaxation Riverside Lodge gave us all of that and we could not have asked for more. A superbly designed and equipped cottage in a beautiful setting. Just what we wanted ! We have already booked to return in September

It was lovely to walk in and find a welcome pack from the owner, it was amazingly clean, tidy and smelt wonderful with the diffusers, everything worked how it should and the views were spectacular.

The lodge was well equipped, super clean and comfortable.

The lake, gardens and stream that are in the grounds are very beautiful and peaceful. Great little retreat and a with clumber park and lots of country walks nearby, we had a great stay. The host also left a few essential items there for us in terms of milk, tea, coffee, washing up liquid and so on. Great little place.

The cottage is in a fantastic location if you want to just relax and do nothing but it is close enough to explore the local towns and places of interest.

Although it is close to the owners own house there was no intrusion on your privacy. The owners were also very friendly and even allowed us to explore the garden area as if it were our own home including use of the patio area near to the stream. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay at Riverside Lodge, it was above all expectations and the grounds that it is situated in are beautiful and very well looked after and loved by the owners who made our stay a very welcoming one.

The kitchen is very modern well laid out and fully equipped, comfortable bed, and well designed for two people, II could find no faults at all with our stay and we will defiantly be returning.

Absolutely everything we needed was provided including a much appreciated welcome pack. It is beautifully furnished and comfortable. The gardens are beautiful with streams, waterfalls, a pond, flowers, so many different birds, ducks, swans and rabbits. We felt we had been dropped into an oasis and will definitely go back.

This cottage is an 'Oasis in Sherwood' .

. has everything you need and more, three streams with numerous waterfalls cascading through the garden, fed from a mill pond which edges up to the lawn of the adjacent owners property. Everything in the cottage is new, and the lovely welcome pack was very much appreciated, it's very spacious for a one bedroom cottage, and the upstairs lounge and bedroom works well, in the kitchen on sunny warm days the patio door four sections rollback to allow the beautiful garden view to be fully appreciated. It's quiet and peaceful with lots of resident birds to appreciate, and just the sound of running water in the background. If we visit the area again we would certainly return to this lovely 'Oasis'
