  • "The owners of Bowlers Yard Cottage ensured that we had everything we could possibly need for our stay."

A lovely welcome pack was waiting for us on arrival and the cottage was nice and warm. Their home is in close proximity to the cottage but we never felt any loss of privacy, to the contrary as my husband had surgery at a nearby hospital it was a comfort to know they were on hand should we have needed anything. The cottage is really well equipped, very easy to live in and situated in a lovely area. We could not have asked for anything better it was just perfect for us.

  • "This cottage had everything we needed and is larger than the photo's appear although the living/dining area is compact."

Extremely clean and accessible to all it was a great base for visiting Bakewell and Lincoln.. Helpful owners who were there if needed but also left us to our own devices.

  • "Very generous hosts, beautiful flowers, large fruit basket, homemade apple juice, milk and coffee bags on arrival."

Accommodated our requests at all times. Felt safe, despite COVID. Very well equipped kitchen!! The vineyard location & roaming chickens were lovely. The driveway gates were a little bit of a pain in the rain, and our wide car was a tight squeeze on the driveway. The bath towels were rather small - would have preferred bath sheets. Other than that an absolutely great stay. Highly recommend.

  • "Our stay at Bowler Yard Cottage was perfect."

The cottage is really well designed and have everything you can need. The surroundings and view on the fields from the cottage back garden terrace is gorgeous. We went for nice walks in the area and drove a little bit further to hire bikes in Sherwood Pines Forest. Bonus points, we've been lucky enough to meet the chickens roaming around in the vineyard next to the cottage!

  • "This was our second stay at Bowlers yard, so we knew exactly what to expect."

Everything was spotlessly clean. We requested another chair from the owners before our arrival, which was provided for no extra cost. I spoke to the owners several times during our stay, each time they asked if we were happy and did we need anything. They are friendly, approachable but without encroaching on your privacy. The views from the cottage were amazing, and we enjoyed watching the birds from the decking area bird feeder. The only negative I can give is the sofa is not at all comfortable, however this would not stop us from staying again. Bowlers yard is an ideal location for exploring the area, in the welcome pack there are lots of ideas for days out and places to see. We will definitely be back again.

  • "As a family of four Australians, we loved this cottage stay on the vineyard!"

It was a home away from home, and being greeted with fresh fruit, flowers, coffee and biscuits was a superb touch. We didn’t need anything; all of the basics were provided including dishwasher tablets, washing machine detergent, hand soap, all of the little thoughtful things that you need when you are away from home. The house was warm and cosy in the middle of winter and the kitchen was a dream to cook in; and it was very private. Even including lovely tea pots! And the bed and linen were incredibly comfortable and lovely quality after having stayed in other short stays as part of our UK trip where the sheets were awful and cheap! Very happy with our stay, wouldn’t change it for the world! Looking forward to our next visit! Thanks Bowler Yard for making part of our Christmas holiday stay wonderful and warm!

  • "Bowlers yard cottage was in a beautiful location."

And I was pleasantly surprised at the well equipped kitchen and the homely feel. Owners were welcoming but not intrusive in any way. Beds were extremely comfortable, The only real negative about the cottage was the lack of somewhere comfortable to sit. A more comfortable sofa, and maybe armchair as well would make Bowlers yard perfect. However I would gladly stay there again.

At the back of the property is a decked area with an unexpected and spectacular view of the landscape. We liked the little welcoming touches: a packet of ground coffee bags, milk in the fridge, biscuits, fresh flowers and a large bowl of fruit. We would definitely look to stay here again when we next visit the area and can wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

  • "We spent a relaxing week here as a base, as we moved into a new house in Bolsover."

With two cats and an elderly Mum, it could have been quite stressful but having this beautiful, peaceful cottage to return to every day meant the move was really smooth. It was truly a home from home and offered a wonderful sense of calm and comfort - a real life saver. We were made to feel so welcome with a lovely hamper and fresh flowers. The cottage was beautifully appointed and felt relaxing and happy, surrounded by countryside views and the vineyards. Not to mention a couple of chatty chickens by the car. It was safe, very comfortable and offered a true sanctuary from the stress of moving house. I left my iPad on the bin in the rush of packing up and was so relieved to be able to collect it two days later safe and sound from the very courteous owners. Thank you!

  • "The converted stables is well decorated and immaculate (apart from the huge sofa which is to be replaced soon) and spotlessly clean."

Impressed by the well-planned open space as well as the amount of good quality kitchen equipment; yet still enough space for food storage (lack of food storage space is a too frequent problem in many holiday properties). Very comfortable beds, and a well stocked library of books and DVDs. It is in a quiet rural location with the relaxing sounds of birds with bucolic views over fields from the sunny patio and decked area, and set in a vineyard with free-roaming chickens. The on-site vineyard owner Johnathon is a very enthusiastic winemaker. He gave us a tour and tasting and the rest of the bottle to finish later. Easy access to several National Trust or English Heritage properties and other attractions, as well as trails through Sherwood Forest.

When we arrived, there were fresh flowers in the lounge area and other basics (tea, coffee, milk etc.) were all there. In addition, the owners had left a bowl of fresh fruit and some apple juice from their orchard, a nice thought. The location is just a few minutes drive out of Mansfield in a nice and quiet rural location but close enough for easy access to shops, pubs, restaurants etc.. Would be happy to stay again.

The cottage looks really good on the Sykes website but when we arrived it was even better than expected. The layout of the cottage is perfect for a family with pets, it was lovely and clean when we arrived, the views are great and the welcome pack even better. A great location that is close to local attractions and has lovely local walks. The cottage itself was a perfect size and has a well resourced kitchen as well as books, dvds and games. It was so lovely to arrive to little touches like coffee, milk and a well stocked fruit bowl. The attention to detail is perfect. We are considering rebooking for future stays in the area.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and couldn’t wish for better comfort. The owners live near by and told us that anything we needed just ask,but we had everything we could possibly need in the property and they never intruded and left us to enjoy our break. There was a complimentary bowl of assorted fruit on arival and a beautiful vase of fresh flowers. We had a few days out with local attractions which is close by. Its in a quiet area which is very relaxing but there are shops bars and restaurants not too far away. We had the best 4 nights sleep we have had in avery long time as the beds were so comfortable. There are always good walks for people with their dogs. We will certainly be returning again in the future and have recomended it to our friends and family. Kind regards Mr & mrs jason fairfield

  • "Although accommodation very clean with nice touches like fruit and flowers, everything was easy to find and use (thanks to manuel folder), only thing we have marked accommodation down for was uncomfortable sofa, it was very low and we both found it difficult to get out of."

Reason why we wouldn't consider re-booking is that we like to try different locations, but we would recommend this accommodation if people like to be in rural locations, there are foot paths to nearest village for the walkers.
