A beautiful, comfortable and well equipped cottage with access to so many wonderful walks and days out nearby.

The welcoming milk and biscuits were a lovely touch, and the Marina cafe is well worth a visit.

This was an amazing bungalow beside Whixall marine which provided lovely countryside walks and good food in the cafe.

It was so peaceful and quiet and the bungalow was furnished to a very high standard with every comfort. The nearest supermarket is about 4 miles away so we advise shopping on route. Local pub and restaurant is only 2 miles and provides good food and has a lovely beer garden. The weather was superb and we only regretted that we did not bring sun loungers. We would definitely recommend this lovely home.

The Tyre Barn is a beautiful accommodation, thoughtfully kitted out with quality furniture and appliances; its lovely uncluttered and clean lines make you feel serene and happy.

We had everything we needed for our stay - not only that, there was the lovely added touch of posh shortbread provided for our first cuppa. The location near Whixall Marina is very peaceful. We hope to be able to return.

Good all round property very well presented but it must be said a couple of area’s that need addressing.

A wall handle needs fitting in the shower to assist entering and especially leaving the wet floor shower. The seating in the lounge area is very restricted and uncomfortable especially for anyone over five foot tall.

Fast becoming our favourite holiday cottage.

Spacious yet cosy, extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean the property has been beautifully converted. The location is ideal for low level walking, with the canal yards away and the fascinating mosses within easy reach. Can’t wait to return.

Both Tyre Barn and other holiday accommodation provided at Whixall Marina are of the highest standards, and we are repeat visitors to the site.

The marina cafe and the accommodation all run to the highest standards of cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. Can't recommend highly enough! Thank you for providing such a wonderful place to relax and refresh.

Excellent cottage, really comfortable and warm with everything we needed.

Very dog friendly with a fantastic enclosed garden. Definitely earns its 5 star rating. (Small issue was that the chair on the photos in the living room is missing. The small two seater sofa is not that comfy for two people on an evening)

Very warm & cosy and the bed was so comfy. Secure garden which was perfect for our Patterdale terrier. So very peaceful and lovely walks from the front door. Just 2 very slight negatives-shower tray very slippy if you’re unsteady on your feet, so a non slip mat would be useful. Also a sensor light in parking area as it’s very dark when returning to the property at night. Overall though very impressed with the barn and wouldn’t hesitate to rebook.

Our second visit and just as good as the first. Great access for walking the Llangollen Canal towpath.

A beautiful place to stay.

A very well equipped, clean and comfortable cottage in a peaceful setting. We have had several holidays at Tyre Barn and this time we stayed for 2 weeks and had a lovely, relaxing time as always. Definitely another holiday at Tyre Barn is in our future plans.

Thoroughly enjoyed our week at Tyre Barn.

It is the best dog friendly property we have stayed in over the years. The location is excellent for visiting places of interest. We would recommend this property to people visiting Shropshire.

We had the perfect stay in this comfortable barn.

It was peaceful and a good base to explore from. The marina was a five minute walk for breakfast in a lovely setting but the barn had everything we needed should we have wanted to cook. The lighting adds a special touch. Thank you.

Second time here and we love its quietness and cleanliness.

It is well equipped and beautifully furnished. The only negative is that the garden furniture is unstable and lacks comfort if sitting for long. Please may it be upgraded!

A superb holiday cottage, beautifully furnished and very well equipped.

Its proximity to the canal and the walking on the mosses was great - we only went out in the car once. The enclosed terrace was also a great asset, even our dachshund who is an expert escapologist couldn’t escape! We’ll definitely be back.

We would prefer places that do not allow dogs!

Although my parents bred Afghan Hounds I just don't like dogs and the mess they leave all over the countryside!

We loved our time at the Tyre Barn.

A quiet location with nice walks nearby. It’s a beautiful property, well equipped and comfortable. A nice outside space for the dog and for having lunch or coffee. The bedroom is excellent and the toilet & shower room spacious. We have already booked again for next year.

Tyre Barn is a very comfortable and well appointed cottage in a lovely peaceful setting.

The enclosed garden was great for our dog and we all enjoyed walks by the canal. Whixall Marina is only a couple of minutes walk away and it's cafe offers a wide selection of meals and snacks. I have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.

We arrived after a longer journey than expected to a gift of milk and biscuits with tea and coffee.

The barn was immaculately clean. The furnishings were well chosen and in immaculate condition. We did have problems with the gas bbq but think it wouldn’t cook quickly as low on gas. A fantastic holiday in a rural situation but a short drive to beautiful sites.

The Tyre Barn was excellent in its accommodation, but the Marina was not what we expected.

The Café was o.k., but not without its problems as they were unable to provide some meals due to a problem with some of the equipment. Also we were unable to walk along the towpath alongside the canal. We expected to find a tarmac or gravel footway. Some parts of the Marina were not open to the public and it was closed (locked gates) after 5.00 p.m. (even in Summer!). However, the cottage was quite good for travelling to nearby places, as well as crossing the border into Wales.

The Tyre Barn is first class accommodation.

Location, comfort, cleanliness and value for money were exceptional. Facilities- more than expected ie gas BBQ, a very large out door space, totally enclosed garden/patio-ideal for small and large humanoid furry friends. Our GSD was in his element. What a great place for R&R. Exceeded 5* rating overall. We will definitely be staying here again. The booking information on The Tyre Barn needs to be reviewed - there are some great features that need to be included as great selling points…..

The Tyre Barn is a lovely barn conversion on the edge of the Village of Whixall, adjacent to a well managed canal side marina some 200 yards away.

The cottage is well equipped and has been furnished to a high standard. We wanted for nothing during our stay in this warm and comfortable single storey cottage. There was a welcome box of luxury biscuits, milk in the fridge, and dog treats left in the living room, for which I thank you. At the marina is a nice cafe, where the display of cakes is so tempting, and the full breakfast is just right to set you up for the day. There are plenty of ways to walk from the cottage in any direction, including along the nearby canal towpath. WE had a great week at the Tyre Barn and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday in this charming part of Shropshire.

Excellent facilities within the cottage, lovely place the Tyre Barn is in.

Owners very attentive and a nice touch providing some lovely biscuits. Unfortunately not able to take advantage of the walks available in the immediate area due to floods in the fields and some roads after heavy rains before and during our stay. But Tyre Barn is in a good place for easy access to Chester, Shrewsbury, Wrexham and Llangollen and also many other small towns and picturesque villages and countryside. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and maybe stay another time in one of the owners properties.

Lovely little place to stay,very clean and modern,peaceful and quiet with pub near by.

Lovely patio not overlooked and views across field to see some wildlife. Not too far from Wem,Shrewsbury, Whitchurch.Would stay again.

Property was loverly clean and every comfort was catered for.

The cottage was very nice, the only comment I would make is that it is very isolated.

A really lovely accommodation that is impossible to fault in any way.

We will very happily return. Whitchuch, Shrewsbury and Chester are all well worth a visit. The Dickin' Arms, Loppington, about 5 miles away is a must go to pub for an evening out. And the Whixall Marina cafe just 2 minutes from the cottage is good for breakfast/ lunch.

The tyre barn was stunning ,better than the photos.

Our dog loved the freedom of the wrap around enclosed garden . We went for a relaxing week ,which it certainly was . You do need a car to travel around as there is only the Marina in close proximity .The Marina itself is beautiful ,with the vast array of Narrow Boats . Would visit again .

Excellently appointed.

Clean, very comfortable; a pleasure to come back to. The cafe at the Marina was excellent too and very handy. We have now visited twice.

The barn was lovely had everything we needed .

The shower was the worry there is no grab handle rail and as one step backwards that step was very slippery .As I always take a rubber bathmat and an extra towel mat we were ok we are both in our mid 70s the barn suited us well except for no grab rail . thanks for the milk and biscuits

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location.

Everything has been thought of at Tyre Barn, a real home from home. We'll be returning for sure!

A great holiday cottage.

Comfortable and clean. Location although in the country was within driving distance of several attractions. The weather was superb and we made full use of the outside patio. Highly recommended.

Tyre Barn has got to be the best cottage we have stayed in.

Well equipped and so clean and comfortable. The setting is amazing, so peaceful, you can't help but relax and watch the wildlife. The Barn owl doing his fly past every evening is the best entertainment ever!!! We'll definitely be visiting again.

The cottage was lovely.

The facilities were modern and the bed was very comfy. Good use of space ie cupboard with washining machine and dryer. Only quibble was that there could have been more utensils ie knives, forks,plate bowls etc. Although there was enough for four this did mean we were washing up or loading the dishwasher to ensure we had clean items for our evening meal. Although the weather was not very sunny (April showers) it would have been nice to have a couple of sun loungers for the garden area. All in all a great cottage!

The Tyre Barn is lovely.

It is so clean, comfortable and warm (we had lots of snow). It is decorated and provisioned to a really high standard; the bedroom is like a luxury hotel room and the bed and pillows are exceptionally comfortable as are the settees in the main room. Our little spaniel loved the enclosed garden which gets lots of sun even in March. The full English breakfasts at Whittal Marina are very tasty and good value (5 minutes walk) and The Bull and Dog (5 minutes drive) is a very nice pub. There are lots of walks right from the cottage along the canal and many more places to visit nearby. Our daughter and her family stayed in the cottage next door and that is equally lovely. We were very sorry to leave and hope that we can return soon.

We didn't want to leave. The property is spotless, like everything looks brand new, very well equipped, the huge bed alone would make me book again! Large garden which has the most relaxing views plus a wonderful sunset every night. Lot of walks right on the doorstep, Marina 5 mins stroll. If you want complete peace and quiet (apart from cows mooing) in a stylish property, book this place, you will not be disappointed. Hope to go back next year :)

A beautiful cottage in a great location.

Warm, comfortable and spacious with a huge bed! Lovely bathroom with a big walk in shower. Fantastic large dog friendly garden, very safe and nowhere for them to escape. A few minutes walk to the Marina/cafe and lovely walks along the canal. Perfect for exploring further afield, already booked to return next year.

The Tyre Barn is very well equipped. It has good quality bedding and every thing you could want for a relaxing stay in this peaceful spot. Great to have large, fine wine glasses! Need not have packed our own!

Fantastic dog secure garden with amazing view and gorgeous sunsets. Great walks on the canal a few minutes away and great days out nearby which were also listed in the information folder. The cottage is equipped with everything you may need and its a truly relaxing place to be. We hope to be back again in the future!!

A fabulous stay at the Tyre Barn, 5 star accommodation with a homely feel, with everything you needed to enjoy a home from home holiday.

So quiet and peaceful, relaxing too, with beautiful countryside views and the canal a stones throw away for a good walk. Whixall Marina a 3min walk away. Not far to travel for days out with plenty to see and do. Fantastic pub close by, ‘The Horse & Jockey’ at Northwood, excellent food if you didn’t want to cook and very friendly locals. Would definitely return as their is still so much more to explore in Shropshire.

Lovely barn conversion with everything you could need.

The bike lock up was very useful for us as we had taken our bikes to cycle along the towpaths of the loch. Very close to the nature reserve and central for points of interest around the area.

A lovely and comfortable, well equipped property in a peaceful setting.

The best Sykes cottage we have stayed in. Will definitely stay again. Some shade in the garden would be welcome as it gets the sun all day and can get extremely hot!!! Beautiful to sit out early morning with a cup of tea and evenings with a glass of wine. Idyllic holiday setting.

We have just returned from Tyre Barn.

I highly recommend a stay at this high quality conversion, tastefully done and everything one would wish for from furnishings to a well equipped kitchen. The bedroom was a wow. The local pub was excellent but be very very hungry as one needs a good appetite. As far as personal service from Whixall office, there was excellent service for any help one requires. The area has some lovely places to visit Ellesmere Mere to the Boat museum at Ellesmere port and many more. Patricia

Very enjoyable stay, very comfortable accommodation.

The booking process was very simple and efficient and with good follow up emails. The outdoor space was very nice and private but would have benefited from some recliner chairs as it is a really sunny spot. The only slight downside is it’s isolation, the marina staff were all very pleasant and helpful, all in all a very enjoyable break.

What an absolutely amazing place, luxurious, peaceful and has everything you need.

So beautifully decorated and furnished, we loved it. The shower was amazing and a huge comfy bed. The coffee cake was delicious and a most welcome gift to arrive to. We could not fault Tyre Barn at all and would definitely recommend it. We were sad to go home!

Beautifully renovated property.

Very cosy and welcoming for 2 people and a dog, just right for what we wanted. Well equipped kitchen, had everything you could possibly need! We loved it, will hopefully return someday

Accommodation is beautiful layout perfect especially if you have a disability plenty of room to get about and everything you need provided for,( well we could not find anything we needed ) they even have a bike shed just opposite the accommodation to which you get your own key…very handy for those who take there bikes!…whole set up just perfect, plus the bed was to die for….so big and comfortable plenty of pillows and cushions….Great nights sleep! Accommodation set in a lovely quiet peaceful area with spacious views, just 5mins walk from the beautiful Whixall Marina with a gorgeous little cafe and the most scrumptious home made cakes! All other amenities…pubs, shops, takeaways within a 10-15 drive, takeaways do deliver! Quite central for out n about trips, we went to Llangollen for the day was only 40-45 mins drive away! Great Holiday Great Accommodation would definitely return. Thankyou!!
