The Rindle

We had a lovely stay at the Rindle can’t fault a thing.

The house and location suited the needs of a large family gathering perfectly. Suzanne is an extremely accommodating host, we would love to return.

The Rindle provided excellent accommodation for our family group of 14 people.

The house is comfortable and spacious, with great views and outside areas. The location is good with a pub/restaurant and watersports centre in walking distance. Outstanding!

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage last week!

It was perfect for our big family — spacious, cozy, and well-equipped. The location was absolutely stunning with views and amazing walking trails right on the doorstep. The host was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. A truly peaceful and memorable getaway!

What a wonderful place in beautiful surroundings.

The barn is huge! Plenty of room for 14 of us! Everything you need is supplied! Spotless and comfortable and great hot showers! Suzanne the manager was friendly and helpful from the start. A few minutes walk to the local pub (The Lazy Trout) which served wonderful tasty meals and a few minutes walk further is the lovely Tittersworth Reservoir with walks and a great children’s play area. We will definitely be back in the near future!

Fabulous house our second time staying here as a big group.

Plenty of space and everything you could need. Comfy beds and lots of seating at dining room table and sofas. Lovely log fire which we didn’t use in the end as house was really warm and cosy without it. 10 min walk to great pub the lazy trout really good food we went three times I’d recommend booking. Close by to visit Bakewell and Buxton and 10 min drive to Morrisons in Leek. Can’t recommend this place enough we will def return again.

What a fabulous home from home.

Every single one of our guests loved it and did not want to leave! The decor and layout is great, especially the open plan living room/kitchen dining area. Perfect for cooking and eating, playing games and socialising. The kitchen was well equipped and the range cooker and fridge freezer were a good size. Plenty of comfy sofa space for everyone (14 of us) and enough space around the dining table. The bedrooms are a good mix of doubles, family rooms and twins/triples all with easy access to an en suite or bathroom. The heating and showers were spot on. Every detail has been thought of, from a large coat stand to a clothes airer, from sturdy wardrobes to outside taps. Only one thing we couldn’t find was a garlic press! The area is stunning, the village of Meerbrook is tiny but cute, within a 5-10 minute walk from the Rindle. Highly recommended the Lazy Trout pub and the walk home in the dark is an experience, with no light pollution the stars are amazing, but take your torch! The town of Leek with supermarkets is only about 4 miles away but there is no shop in Meerbrook so stock up! The owner was so helpful and friendly, we will be back, possibly in summer so we can use the bbqs and outside seating, and paddle board on the reservoir!

Amazing holiday cottage!

Photos do not do it justice. Very well-equipped, beautifully furnished large cottage, perfect for a uni-reunion family get together. Great location with lovely walks and a great pub nearby... what more could you ask for!

Fantastic cottage, warm and welcoming, couldn't think of anything that I would change.

Clean and spacious house. Helpful and friendly owner.

We very much enjoyed our stay in the Rindle and will definitely be keeping it in mind for future visits with our extended family.

The house was very well equipped and the only thing we thought was lacking was a few small side tables in the lounge for drinks, etc. A couple of lightweight cutting boards could have been provided in addition to the beautiful marble slabs which were difficult to move. A pizza cutter could also have been useful. Otherwise very well equipped in the kitchen. The village pub certainly scored10/10 as did the lovely walks to both sides of the reservoir.

The Rindle was a beautiful place and suited our annual family holiday needs.

The host was very friendly and helpful with recommendations for food. Would definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed our stay, really quick to resolve our one minor issue.

Well equipped, lovely house with plenty of room. Would have been nice to have a bit more comfortable seating outside to enjoy the views. We would come back! We found the location to be really good, enjoyed water activities and walks at the reservoir which are very close by. Had a few meals at the lazy trout which is a short walk away, Leek is a short drive away and other attractions like Bakewell around 40 minutes away.

My family and I enjoyed an amazing long weekend at The Rindle and we couldn’t rate it highly enough The house is lovely with the photos not really doing it justice.

The owners left a lovely welcome gift and were on hand if we needed anything but we didn’t as it was all as expected and we had no problems at all. Would highly recommend staying here

The property was beautiful spacious and well maintained and cleaned.

Inside was very relaxing and comfortable. We group of three families with kids really enjoyed the stay. The friendly owner lady welcomed us with a bottle of wine and chocolates. We stayed three nights and enjoyed every moment of it.

Lovely house with great facilities.

Clean and comfortable. The property owners are very attentive and happy to help. We had a great stay at The Rindle and would definitely recommened.

A group of 12 stayed here for 2 nights and it was absolutely outstanding.

The house is furnished beautifully and has everything you could possibly need for entertaining/cooking. The communal kitchen/lounge is fab and all guests were blown away by the bedrooms and cleanliness throughout the house. The owner Suzanne communicated everything perfectly and was really helpful. Nearby, the Lazy Trout is a short 8 minute walk away and is well worth a visit.

This was one of the best holiday homes we have ever had the good fortune to stay in!

Everywhere was spotlessly clean on arrival, the house was so comfy and welcoming with well stocked rooms and common areas. Appliances were in excellent condition and easy to use, the bathrooms were plentiful and clean, and the furniture was comfy and in great nick. The house was so reasonably priced for its standard- a real gem of a find. The gardens are large, well maintained and offer stunning views. Suzanne is a truly fantastic host- communicative, helpful and flexible. Couldn't have asked for a better place to spend a weekend with friends, and will recommend The Rindle and Sykes to everyone. The only fault is that the website pictures don't do it justice- if they can be updated to show the house in its current state then I'm sure that we wont ever be able to book it again, it will be so busy! Other than that, its a 10/10, absolutely fantastic house!!

Wonderful weekend break for 14 ladies celebrating.

Suzzane is a great host.

We loved The Rindle, all felt comfortable on arrival.

Plenty of towels and hot water and loads of cooking equipment. A great welcome on arrival, all in all we had a super long weekend, walking the reservoir and stopping off at the Lazy Trout.

I cannot fault the place, it was perfect for a group of friends' weekend.

Clean, warm, well equipped and very comfortable. Only 5 minutes walk to a great pub and good walks at the Roaches and the reservoir. The host Suzanne was extremely friendly and welcoming. We will certainly return.

Wonderful stay with friends, everything was exactly as advertised and Suzanne was so helpful and hospitable before and during our stay.

Thanks so much for a great stay and helping get the cars out in the snow.

It was a special weekend. We loved how we could fit the whole family around that giant table!!

It was the perfect location for our family get together, comfortably accommodating all 14 of us.

The barn was beautifully cosy and well equipped and everybody had a really lovely time. Thank you

Great property, problem with loo but very promptly sorted out.

Good entertaining space.

This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in, we went for my daughter’s 40th birthday celebrations.

Everyone had a great time & everything we needed was there. Chocolate’s flowers & wine was a lovely touch

Surprised to find stone floors in the downstairs bedrooms which I felt were unsuitable for our young children.

I did mention to the owner at the end of the stay that the wet room downstairs did not work well for this family. Upstairs bedrooms comfortable. The property was just what we needed though the furnishings were not all as described on Sykes Cottages website. Lovely location.

The Rindle was perfect for our group of 14 for a long weekend stay.

Very comfortable, well equipped and nicely furnished. Helpful hosts who made us feel welcome and helped with any questions we had. We had a lovely local chef in on the Saturday evening and a lush Sunday lunch at The Lazy Trout, a short walk from the barn. Enjoyed local walks from the barn and swimming at the reservoir. Everyone left feeling very relaxed - would definitely recommend

We just loved our stay at the Rindle.

It was perfect. We were 5 adults and 5 children and it was an ideal place to stay. The house had everything we wanted and the setting was wonderful. The children loved playing in the buttercup field next to the garden: it was a really safe place to play. We did lots of things. but the one they liked the best which was completely free, was climbing the Roaches. We also played several times in the amazing play area at the Visitor Centre by the lake. What a surprise to find such an amazing play area within walking distance of our house. We also walked from the house up on to Gun Moor and back down to the house through farmland. We went canoeing on the lake, went on the Steam Train at Rudyard Lake (after which Kipling was named), walked along the Manifold Way, walked along Lathkill Dale, went to the stone circle at Arbor Low and had Bakewell Pudding in Bakewell. All in all a perfect holiday

We had a lovely stay at the Rindle this weekend.

I booked the cottage for 3 nights for 14 people to celebrate my 30th birthday, and it was the perfect size and layout. The location is excellent with a 5 minute walk to the lazy trout pub and the reservoir, and a lovely ridge walk across the roaches not too far away. The weather was nice enough for us to have a barbecue and there was plenty of seating outside for everyone. The property was clean and tidy when we arrived and the host kindly showed us around the property and answered any questions we had. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone staying in this area of the Peak District.

We had such a great stay.

Plenty of room for a big group of friends and lots of outdoor space for having fun and relaxing in the sunshine. The host Suzanne was so welcoming and friendly ensuring we had everything we needed. Pub is only a short wander away and we ended up going there twice as they were hospitable and decent value. Would definitely come back.

A well appointed house in a lovely area.

Great space for our group to cook, eat, relax, play games or watch TV all together. Plenty of parking space and room for a football kickabout. Everything we needed for our family and friends break away. Lovely local pub in walking distance along with the lake. Friendly welcome from the onsite owner - pretty much perfect!

It was a lovely property with no complaints from any of the 10 guests we stayed with.

The owners were always available on site and quickly responded to any question of support we needed. The surrounding area is beautiful for some super walks and the Lazy Trout pub in Meerbrook( a 5 minute walk down the road) was fabulous for a drink and served great food .

Our group included 3 toddlers and we were a little apprehensive about how we would keep them safe without a staircase, but we needn't have worried.

All the internal doors have traditional cottage style latches at shoulder height and we could close these and contain the toddlers. There is also a single step change in floor level across the main room but even so, there were no trip ups. Very well equipped kitchen with large fridge freezer. Fantastic area with lots for everyone to enjoy. Huge play are at the nearby lake and the miniature steam train at Rudyard lake, and Castaway play in Astly were much enjoyed by all.

Amazing house.

Host Suzanne really accommodating. Would definitely return again. The Lazy Trout Pub within walking distance and great pub. Lots of nice walks great area. Three Horseshoes pub also fab food and staff.

This was a comfortable and spacious property for a group of 8 University friends.

It is well appointed and Suzanne, the owner who lives on sight, could not have been more helpful during out short stay. The location is stunning and the house is conveniently near the local.pub, 'The Lazy Trout'. A terrific weekend!

Second time we have stayed.

Just as good as the first. Made to feel really welcome and the cottage suited us down to the ground.

Fantastic cottage for our group of 3 families.

Open kitchen/living room was sociable and the huge dining table meant we all ate in comfort. WiFi was great too especially as we struggled with phone reception. Owners were very friendly and helpful without impinging on our holiday. Location is good too, with a variety of walks straight from the door, and the pub only 600m down the road.

Our cottage was very clean, tidy, spacious and suitably stocked with crockery etc.

In addition the local pub (The Lazy Trout) served both good beer and food. The nearby reservoir also had a good cafe and children's play area. Both the reservoir and the play area are within walking distance of the cottage. I would definitely recommend The Barns at Alderlee holiday cottage.

A lovely property, very well looked after and in a great location.

Excellent for a large group. The owners gave us a warm and friendly welcome and we’re on hand if we had, any issues. We highly recommend this property.

Perfect for our extended family , would definitely go again .

Rural enough to be peaceful yet close to leek and watersports for what we needed. The downstairs was really good for a mobility challenged grandad and his walker too

Great location and lovely surroundings.

Well stocked with all amenities. Just some fans would have been helpful in each room due to our changing climate and a slightly better mattress in the ground floor bed. But overall an excellent stay!

We stayed here back in November 2012 and The Rindle is as lovely now as it was back then.

It is a very comfortable and beautifully maintained house with great communal space. Thoughtfully stocked equipment-wise (we didn't want for anything), the helpful and friendly owners are on-hand if you do need them. Surrounded by amazing countryside and a great pub less than 5 minutes walk away, what's not to like?

We had a really great stay here, the living area is perfect for being social and being able to seat everyone together.

The rooms had a good mix of single and double beds so those who didn't want to share a bed could have one of their own. The place was spotless. The owners of the property were really friendly and helpful, and were on hand if needed. I would definitely recommend staying here

Super stay over the Easter week, the house was a great size, plenty of space for all 14 people.

Very clean and was well stocked of equipment for catering on a large scale. Great location for cycling, walking (The Roaches) and close to Alton Towers, very close to a local pub. The owner was very helpful.

We were welcomed warmly by the owners, and had a fantastic time at the Rindle.

Despite being a large family group the accommodation was spacious and worked perfect for the mix ages (1 x grandparents, 2 lots of parents and kids aged 9,8,6,5,1). Despite saying internet could be intermittent, we had no issues (thank goodness). We visited the Tittlesworth Water (park, coffee shop, lovely walk - very family friendly - 7/10 - water was low!). Three Horseshoes (Carvery - looked nicer outside than it was on the inside 5/10). Peak Wildlife park (ideal for under 10's - spot on for us, great activities, lovely staff, even on a wet day, ideal - 9/10). Lazy Trout - went twice for food (could have gone more - delicious!) and for a couple of quick drinks 10/10. Rudyard Lake - beautiful peaceful setting, train very reasonable. Again great family time. 8/10. Gullivers Kingdom (we made the most of it. Not buggy friendly, tired, but some good rides, and would not take much to make this place amazing. Not enough parking! 5/10). Poole's Cavern (really interesting tour - for all ages. Walked up to Solomon's temple too - v windy! 8/10). Primo Piano, Leek (great food, very accommodating, don't open until 6, which is a bit late for our littlies! 9/10). The Roaches and Tea room (Amazing walk on the doorstep! Went up the south side, past Roaches Hall - kids loved the mild challenge and we were generally protected from the wind! Tea Rooms were lovely - we should have made it a main meal here, as we didn't need dinner after great service - 9/10). We had a great week, and we are already discussing coming back again!

Great location, excellent hosts, perfect for our family get together.

It was great to stay at the rindle with our family and the hosts jason and susane really looked after us very well.

Cant fault them in any way. They guided us to the local area. All in all it was a pleasure to stay there and cant wait to go back again.

Lovely big main room

Fantastic homestay.

The location was idyllic, the cottage perfect, we would stay again and actually want to make it an annual family get away. Such a stunning part of the country and the perfect place to rest after a long day exploring. Thank you.

Fantastic property in a beautiful location.

Everything was exactly as described and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Rindle to others.

Beautiful setting , lovely spacious house, welcoming host.

We had a fabulous week staying at The Rindle.

The accomodation was superb and a great location to go exploring on foot from the front door or many many places only a short drive away.

This house was amazing and made for a great weekend away.

It was clean and in a lovely location. The host popped over to check we were ok on arrival and was super helpful. We would definitely recommend this to all groups of people looking for a large house like this one. We will definitely look to come back should we do something similar in future. Thank you The Rindle!

We had an absolutely lovely week stay here.

The Rindle was absolutely beautiful, very clean and very cozy. There was also plenty for us to do nearby (Alton towers, Peak Wildlife Park)

The Rindle was perfect for our get-together.

The accommodation is excellent - clean, very well laid out and lovely and warm. And there are some really thoughtful and nice touches, such as the wine and chocolates. Thank you.

Booking anywhere for a multi - generation family get-together is usually like walking into the dark unknown.

.. Here were facilities for us all. The upper floor had rooms and bathrooms for the family members without children, whilst downstairs the four youngsters and their parents had their own rooms, bathroom and access to kitchen, sitting room and TV...when they had the inevitable early start.... Suited all of us perfectly... Thank you, Suzanne for the flowers, wine and choclates that greeted us!!! (Along with your personal welcome.)

There was everything we wanted for a celebration weekend with our family of 13, with ages ranging from 1 to 71 years old.

The open plan living and dining area worked really well. It was a nice touch when we arrived to find a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine left by the owners. We were made very welcome and when there was a slight problem with the hot water system, it was sorted out immediately by the owner's son and daughter. The Rindle is in a lovely location close to lots of things to see and do.

We all had a very nice time except for the weather, but we did find things to do out and about.

The Barn was great plenty of room for us all, comfortable and in a very peaceful setting, with lovely views when it wasn't cloudy.

Very comfortable accommodtaion in a lovely area.

Accurate description of property, with welcoming owner.

Family get together for a special birthday and all 14 of us really enjoyed a great stay.

The converted barn was both spacious and comfortable with lots of character and mod cons. Great pub close by with good food and friendly staff. Pretty and interesting towns and villages within easy driving distance. Our hosts and owners of the property were very gracious and friendly. Nothing seemed too much trouble and the wine , chocolates and flowers were a very welcoming and thoughtful touch. Would definitely recommend The Rindle.

What amazing accommodation, would highly recommend it

A great place to stay.

Plenty of room for 14 people - comfortable, clean and fitted out to a high standard. Highly recommended.

Cottage was perfect and was exactly as described.

The village pub and local amenities were also great and complemented the location.

It met all our needs.

The owner was very welcoming and helpful. Accommodation was comfortable and warm. Ideally situated within easy walking distance of tittesworth reservoir and a good pub. Many footpaths led from the Accommodation to the moors. Loved it.

We were a family of 14 staying at The Rindle cottage which we all found amazingly beautiful, clean and very comfortable.

It’s surrounded with green lush fields with sheep and cattle grazing, which was perfect for our family get away. Owner of the cottage was extremely helpful and friendly. We all had a great time and an amazing holiday, with lots of wonderful memories made. I will be booking again.

The Rindle is a fantastic house.

We were a party of 13 with 4 teenagers and a 6yr old. There is so much room in the house. The kitchen facilities were fab. House was spotless. Beds were comfy. The owner is a lovely lady who left fresh flowers, wine and chocolates for our arrival. There's plenty to do in the local area. Children had great fun on two days at the local water sports place. We had two days at Alton Towers which was a 30 min drive. The Peak Wildlife Park was about 20 mins drive. Local shops are 4 miles. Great pub within 5 min walking distance. Would definitely go back here!

Lovely weekend at The Rindle we were blessed with good weather so were able to enjoy the surrounding area including the reservoir and facilities at Tittesworth.

Overall the accommodation was wonderful.

However i would recommend that some of the bed matresses and dining room chairs and some of the lounge seetees could do with replacing as they are past there best and are a little uncomfortable. Wonderful location.

We were so lucky with the weather as well.

We celebrated my mother’s 90 th birthday and had a wonderful time. Thankyou.

Excellent location, great accommodation, very well equipped kitchen.

A fantastic place to stay and we had a great time. Hope to return one day.

We needed a cottage that could fit 12 people.

We didn't have that much choice but the Rindle turned out to be great. We were not cramped and there were plenty of facilities for everyone. We couldn't have hoped for more.

Great house for a large party.

The hostess was really informative and helpful. Great location for access to walks climbs pubs and a playground. Great rooms and all the showers were powerful.

The cottages are in a beautiful spot surrounded by hills.

They were extremely warm with the underfloor heating and even more spacious than the photos suggest. We liked it so much we have already booked again!

Extremely helpful owners, who couldn't do enough for us.

Absolutely gorgeous converted barn in a beautiful location.

12 of us used the rindle barn for a 30th birthday weekend, there was ample space for us, everybody commented on how lovely the property was. Easy walking distance of local village Meerbrook which has a pub that does very nice food and close to the roaches for walking.
