End Cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped, warm and comfortable.

Ideally placed for access to Ashbourne amenities and exploring the Peak District. Jo and John, the owners provided all the information we needed in a timely manner and could be easily contacted by telephone - though we didn't actually need to contact them. We had a very enjoyable time there.

We enjoyed our stay at End Cottage.

It's handily situated in the heart of Ashbourne (literally metres away from the town centre and yet quiet at night) and was a great base for visiting (and walking) some key Peak District locations such as Dovedale, Carsington Water and Kedleston Hall. Host Jo texted full details of the car parking ahead of our arrival so we were prepared for the not-so-easy vehicle access but this proved not to be a problem as nearby car parks are just a short walk away - one free all day, the other £2 for 24 hours which you can work around thanks to the pass thoughtfully provided in the visitor pack. All in all a very pleasant stay.

The property was perfect for the two of us.

If you are a parkrunner you will love the location as Ashbourne park is a stone throw away. The property is very close to town and parking is cheap. We would happily stay there again if we were in the area.

I had a fantastic stay at End Cottage.

Very kind owner is easy to communicate with before, during and after the booking. The cottage is central to Ashbourne so everything you need is close by. The accommodation was immaculately clean and very spacious. The shower was powerful and hot. Very kind welcome items left for my stay to enjoy. Twos TVs in the lounge and bedroom was enjoyable and welcome. Even though the cottage is in central Ashbourne it is quietly tucked away so you get true peace and quiet which is important during a break away. Ashbourne itself is very picturesque and can also be used as a base for nearby Derby, Uttoxeter and other attractions. I really enjoyed my time here and would love to come back again in the future. The property was well appointed and had everything you could want.

It was very close to the town centre which was a bonus and there were plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Unfortunately there is no parking space which makes it difficult to unload and load the car, that said I would definitely recommend this property

This is a super little place.

The location is just steps away from Ashbourne's town marketplace and all the attractions of the centre, yet End Cottage proved to be very quiet with only a few people ever walking past. It is very nicely furnished and equipped, and everything was beautifully clean on arrival. Communications from the owner were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I'd like to add is about parking your car. There is a space to do this and its only a few steps from the front door, but access is down a very narrow and quite long lane from the rear. I found once that I had to fold in my wing mirrors to be able to pass another car parked along the access lane. It is only just about possible to turn around rather than try to reverse out, but for anyone with a large car or who is not a good driver it would be tricky indeed. Good news is that the owner had provided in the welcome pack a residents' permit that allows free parking in any of the town's car parks between the hours of 3pm and overnight to 11am. I found it easier to park in Cattle Market car park which is about 200-300m away, but note that it is up a steep path walk from End Cottage. I found it perfectly safe and easy to find a space, and I suppose you might say it's good exercise!

I have stayed at End Cottage more than once and there are things I absolutely love - the quiet yet central location in a fabulous town, value-for-money, the decor, the huge comfortable bed, and especially the separate study.

But there are some issues... the car park where it's free to park is 5-10 minutes' walk away. Due to major work in the town it's no longer possible to park for a few minutes to drop things off at the front of the Town Hall - you have to risk a quick stop in the private car park at the Hall Lane end of the alleyway. Some people may be bothered by the lack of a grill (if the owners provided a griddle pan this would help - or an air fryer would be a positive selling point). There has been a strong smell of damp from the kitchen sink for at least three years according to reviews - the owners have clearly tried a dehumidifier as there's a worn out non-working one in the kitchen - they could just mention that keeping a plug in the sink remedies the problem. The shower/bath is high-sided in an awkward position which might not suit those with hip problems - and you have to be in the bath to run the water - which can be a further issue as you have to get the water pressure right for really hot water. I know these things and would return without hesitation, but they could be problems leading to complaints if guests only found out on arrival that something important to them isn't as they'd envisaged.

End Cottage is a great location for a short stay in the Peaks.

There is everything needed for a comfortable stay. Local pubs and restaurants are only a few steps away. Great communication from the owner.

The cottage is lovely and was extremely well equipped.

Jo was brilliant at communicating during our stay and left Prosecco and brownies for our arrival. The place was clean and bright. It is perfectly located for town and close to the Peak District for long walks during the day. It was a pleasure to stay and we will definitely be back!

The cottage far exceeded our expectations, everything beautifully done so many thoughtful touches it looks great and everything worked well.

After our long journey the prosecco and cakes, what a treat ! It's in a perfect location to potter around the town. We had a lovely restful time.

The most perfect little cottage, just yards away from the town centre, but still peaceful and relaxing.

I could not have been happier with End Cottage. Everything I needed was provided, including the nice little touch of leaving a fresh pint of milk in the fridge, plus tea bags and coffee. It was superb.

Great cottage.

Superbly equipped. King size bed super comfortable. Lovely town of independent local businesses. Free parking 8 minute walk away. Great base to explore the countryside. Hike - Roaches to Luds church our favourite.

The owner was exceptional helpful and although we didn't meet in person, she was on hand with meg's and information particularly around parking arrangements which can be difficult in Ashbourne.

The cottage exceeded my expectations, it was well decorated and very homely and a great surprise for me was a little office which was not in the pictures, this enabled me to do some work in comfort and saved me having to make a journey to Lichfield - twice! - real bonus ! I loved the market town vibe and everyone I encountered in shops/restaurants were super helpful and friendly

A perfect little cottage in a perfect location.

Clean, very comfortable and well equipped. Lots of extra touches to make you feel at home and a really comfortable bed. We’ve stayed many times and will be back many more. Local, helpful owners too. A real gem.

Very accurate pictures etc, excellent location by the square. We found that it lacked a little privacy in the front room if we were sitting watching TV at any point, and would maybe put a blind on the glass panel of the door/a net curtain on the other window behind curtains for during the day. There is a blind, but if you close it you are plunged into darkness. The bath, you need to properly get into it to turn taps, which is worth noting. Other than that we loved it. We thought the little touches like box of biscuits etc were so thoughtful/lovely, and the cottage has absolutely everything you need for your stay. Would definitely recommend!

Lovely cottage and well equipped.

It would have been useful to tell potential customers that there was steps into the kitchen, and a step outside the bedroom, which my husband fell on the first night .

maybe some hazard tape, with the stairs being so near the step,it could have been a nasty fall,he fell sidewards from the step and grazed his head on the wall.After that we kept a light on during the night.

The cottage was well maintained and had all the utilities and utensils needed.

It was nice and warm and the bed was very comfortable. The location was very good and Ashbourne a nice place to stay. The downside was an unpleasant smell radiating from the kitchen into the living room area. It may have been a damp smell? The smell put me off spending time downstairs . Maybe a humidifier would help?

Immaculately clean and everything we needed had been thought of and more! Such a fabulous location for a week’s break with great shops, cafes, pubs and places to eat on your doorstep. The bed in particular was really comfy and we could have happily stayed another week. Perfect stay for a couple and parking was no problem at all with the free 24hr car park just around the corner. Highly recommend and already looking at dates we could return!

The owners were available for any questions and so nice to contact. Lovely property, kept nice and clean. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for easy access to the town, nearby places, or relaxing in.

Fantastic little cottage for 2 people.

Location was brilliant for cycling and walking as well as eating and drinking. Booked at the last minute due to a cancellation and communication with owner was excellent. Everything you need is provided - great value!

A 5 star stay as usual.

It’s lovely to return and know everything will be perfect. Really appreciate the small stuff like hairdryer, supplies so you can have a cuppa when you get there, the dishwasher tablets, the extra loo rolls, lovely personalised texts so you know when the cottage is ready as well as all the extra comfortable things like the throws, and the firelight, the soft towels the comfy bed, the deep bath, all make a difference. We’ll be back, hopefully often!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at End Cottage in Ashbourne.

It was very cosy and comfortable. It also had most of the utilities needed to prepare meals and the location was excellent, with various pubs and restaurants in walking distance. It was quite tricky to find being tucked away off the square, therefore perhaps a few additional instruction to find the place would have been helpful. In general I had a very good stay and would recommend to others staying in the area.

A second visit to this cosy well equipped cottage in the centre of Ashbourne.

The bed is soooo comfortable and we love the deep bath, in fact everything about this snug characterful cottage. We’d been before and will certainly come again. It’s also really central with everything on the doorstep and we appreciated all the little touches (like some decorations for our December visit) and the welcome pack on arrival. I just hope by recommending it doesn’t get so busy we can’t get back!!!

Fabulous cottage.

Everything on the doorstep. Well equipped. Amazing bed, best night's sleep in a long time.

The cottage is exactly as described, spotlessly clean and the location is superb.

Jo provided a lovely welcoming surprise. We were not walking during this trip as hubby recovering from knee replacement but he did use the local pool which was within his walking distance and he said facilities were good. We will certainly be back when he can cover a greater distance.

A lovely cottage have been before and will book again.

Only thing to improve is the bathroom towels are getting tired and bit thin.

Most convenient for eating and drinking out with all facilities within 3 mins walking of front door.

Plenty of good walks nearby for the fit and active. Would definitely recommend a visit.

This was a well appointed cottage in the centre of Ashbourne and was extremely comfortable and well maintained and very clean.

A few small improvements I would suggest is net curtains on the downstairs sitting room window as everyone passing looks in and a blind fillets to the upstairs dressing room. All I all it was a very nice cottage and an ideal base to explore the southern Derbyshire Dales area and for cycling in the many trails

Really convenient in the centre of Ashbourne yet hidden and quiet.

We bought a week’s parking token as parking near the cottage was too intimidating! Everyone we met was very welcoming. The cottage seems brand new and was spotlessly clean. Most things were provided and I am probably being fussy to want a dustpan and brush ( I bought one to tidy up at the end!), a serrated bread knife and some egg cups ( boiled eggs are cheap and easy!). I would also have appreciated some simple instructions to work the oven, extractor fan and the vacuum cleaner - but perhaps I am not very tech savvy? My son’s father in law was so impressed with the cottage that he said he would be telling his sister to rent it when she visited Ashbourne. We would highly recommend End Cottage for a stay in this popular tourist area. We would also highly recommend’Le Mistral’ bistro in Wirksworth where the church is well worth the visit.

This is a lovely, cosy retreat for a couple.

We were greeted with an unexpected welcome gift of prosecco, bread, milk and local gingerbread. It was tastefully decorated and furnished and fully equipped as a home should be. The cottage was in a perfect location for accessing the town, the Peak District and surrounding areas. We will certainly be visiting again. Thank you :-)
