Postbox Cottage

We had a lovely relaxing holiday at The Postbox Cottage.

It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We walked everyday from the door and were lucky enough to relax afterwards with a drink on the sun trap patio due to the sunny September weather. There was great communication from Jane, the owner, and lovely welcome goodies.

Excellent location for Southern Peak District with plenty of nearby trails and activities. Nice rural location without being too remote. Cottage itself was immaculate and cosy. Owners were very helpful and provided a welcome pack of teas and biscuits, which was a nice touch and much appreciated after the journey there.

From the moment we arrived we felt a sense of peace and tranquility, a unique iconic cottage steeped in history and set in the most beautiful surroundings.

The cottage was beautiful a little piece of heaven, well equipped and maintained., and beautifully laid out and spotlessly clean. Highly recommend this wonderful cottage.

On arrival were met with this charming cottage Down a quiet road with views to the countryside Cottage was lovely clean just what the 2 of us were hoping it would be.

From booking to arriving at the cottage, information we received was fantastic.

The cottage is amazing, location for us was perfect and the owner made sure we had everything we needed for our break. Have already recommended this to our friends and family who have stated they will look to book Postbox Cottage and we have started to discuss our return visit. Cannot recommend Sykes cottages and Postbox cottage highly enough!

The property was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and warm.

We had excellent communication with the owner who pulled out all the stops to ensure our stay was perfect. The views were stunning and the location perfect for walking in the Peak District and visiting the local villages, towns and attractions. All very positive.

The postbox cottage was just as it was described and much more clean and cosy, Every think you needed a lovely hamper , Jane the owner kept in communication from start to finish we definitely enjoyed our little break and would definitely recommend one of the best cottage we have stayed in , we hope to return in the better weather so we can explore more .

Postbox cottage in one word, fabulous.

Immaculately clean and cosy property with everything you need. We had a wonderful Christmas and decided to stay another three nights for New Year and will definitely be returning. Location is perfect with Carsington Water on the doorstep for walking and Ashbourne just a short drive away. Jane the owner was very helpful with excellent communication and thankyou for the welcome pack, much appreciated.

An excellent base for exploring the Derbyshire countryside and the Peak District.

The cottage itself is in an ideal location with views over the rolling hills from the kitchen and lounge. Overall if asked what the cottage was like I would say that it was very comfortable and meticulously clean. It is the sort of place which makes you feel relaxed and at home as soon as you come in through the door. There is ample off road parking. The kitchen is well equipped and it seemed that whatever we needed it was there. The owner was very good at communicating with us before and during our stay. Overall we had a lovely relaxing time at the Postbox cottage and it would definitely be our first choice for our next visit to the area.

Very clean and well looked after cottage.

Set in a peaceful area with good views from the garden. Secure parking with gates at the front of the driveway. Lovely welcome pack. Good communication with the owner Jane. Have stayed in a few holiday accommodation’s and this was the cleanest by far. We had a great holiday and would highly recommend this cottage.

Our stay at Postbox cottage was very relaxing.

The cottage has everything you could ask for and more well equipped ,comfortable and lovely surroundings. The welcome pack and milk in the fridge was very much appreciated. Very peaceful and beautifully maintained cottage surrounded by countryside but within easy driving or cycling distance of plenty of activities.

Left feeling fully rejuvenated. Sainsbury's will deliver here too which is bonus.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage.

It was spotless - we couldn’t see a speck of dust! The cottage is full of character and very peaceful. There was so much to do in the area. Jane was very helpful - letting us know about some wasps nests which had been dealt with before we got there. And we were left a lovely pack of welcome goodies for our arrival. We are planning to return.

We had a lovely stay here, beautiful setting and peaceful surroundings. The welcome pack was lovely and very thoughtful and welcoming after a long drive. There is everything in this cottage that you could ask for. Thank you to Jane and Andrew for letting us stay. Hopefully will be back soon. P.S as the description clearly states beware of the 3 steps on the patio, just in case some people are unsteady on their feet.

We felt truly peaceful and contented in the beautiful setting surrounded by fields and trees and the sounds of birdsong and bleating lambs.

The cottage has been lovingly and tastefully cared for with its external stonework and solid handmade kitchen and doors. The interior has all the facilities you could wish for. The owners who live away from the property are really lovely people and perfect hosts. The welcome tray was substantial and very much appreciated. We would love to return. We would love to live there. We didn’t want to go home and were able to extend our stay for another few nights.

An absolute delight to stay at Post box cottage, firstly the communication was excellent from start to finish, we felt very valued as a customer.

A lovely cottage , ideally located for exploring the peak district.

Inside the cottage you could not wish for more. A lovely welcome pack was provided, Jane the owner, was very helpful , guiding us to our personal likes. We certainly enjoyed the peace and quiet ,on our return after a day out, and with the weather being kind ,sitting out of an evening ,and all you can hear is nature . We were lucky enough to see what we thought was a peregrine falcon who visited the trees at the back of us every evening. Fantastic. Thank you Jane, you have a great place.

Well maintained, very clean, quaint small cottage in a peaceful setting with all the mentioned amenities and lovely walks in the area.

What a beautiful cottage in an amazing setting.

The service we received from the owner Jane , was exemplary and the welcome information provided everything we needed to know about the area, attractions and things to do . The cottage was immaculate and very clean , it all added to a very comfortable and relaxing stay . If you are a fan of the Peak District and surrounding areas , I highly recommend the Postbox Cottage as a place to facilitate your visit. I will definitely be coming again and for longer . The cottage totally enhanced our stay in the area .

An amazing cottage, with incredibly helpful, welcoming hosts, and in fact probably one of the best cottages we've ever stayed in.

The welcome pack was nothing like we've ever had before, it completely blew us away. The accommodation was not only spotless, but was well-equipped, warm and comfortable, indeed, just what we wanted. Lovely views, and very quiet location. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property for a holiday in Derbyshire. Thank you.

I’ve not long had a hip replacement so mobility is limited and crutches are a necessity.

Post box cottage has a variety of floor levels both inside and outside and few handholds on stairs and access to other spaces. It was not an easy house for me. I think that this ought to be mentioned in the on-line information and other publicity. Jane was very good in providing all necessary for the house, but couldn’t alter the house!

We stayed at Postbox Cottage for the August bank holiday week.

It was absolutely amazing. A beautiful location and a stunning cottage. Immaculate throughout and a warm and welcoming feel. Jane is the most wonderful host - I had mentioned before our stay that our daughter has disabilities and she sent a lovely email with activities and restaurants that may suit our particular needs. She went absolutely above and beyond to help us make the most out of stay in the Peak District. Our daughter was so excited and loved the amazing welcome tray in the kitchen. Will definitely be booking this cottage again for future holidays.

The cottage was beautiful, very clean, comfortable and homely.

Jane and Andrew went above and beyond with a welcome card, tray of goodies and milk in the fridge. It was so very kind and thoughtful. We had a lovely week exploring the area and it was really lovely to come back in the evenings to the cottage. We would highly recommend it.

A lovely cosy cottage.

It was extremely clean and was very well equipped. Close to a lot of tourist attractions- we went to Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Alton Towers. Carsington water is 2 mins away and a good free day out with kids. Derby is 20 mins away and has good high street shops. Lots of nice nearby pubs for food. Lovely big private garden.

An absolutely fabulous hidden gem!

Tucked away, quiet and secluded - exactly what we wanted and needed for our short break. The cottage was decorated and equipped to the highest standard, immaculately clean and owner Jane’s finishing touches were so thoughtful - she had really thought of everything! Extremely generous welcome pack and excellent communication from Jane throughout. Would highly recommend!

We have just had a fabulous week at postbox cottage.

Jane , the owner , had left us a lovely “welcome box” of goodies, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the downstairs shower is one of the easiest we have ever used! There is a lovely outside seating area which we took advantage of most evenings watching the sun go down. All in all , our stay at this lovely cottage , in wonderful surroundings, was very relaxing and we came home feeling very refreshed, Many thanks again to Jane, and we hope to make a return visit one day Would highly recommend ,

Really lovely cottage.

Very peaceful place to stay. Beautifully clean and well presented with lots of thoughtful touches that made it a home from home. Good communication from Jane that enabled us to get into the property early as well.

Very good parking area behind gated access. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location.

Very peaceful. Close to many places we like to visit and good for walking. Only drawback is that upstairs is very cramped owing to sloping ceilings. A tall person would always be ducking and be very careful when getting up from bed not to knock head. This could perhaps be mentioned in description of property. But a very enjoyable holiday with generous treats left by the owners on arrival.

Beautiful quaint cottage with gorgeous views of the peak district as well as its own secluded garden.

Open it up and feel like your in fields themselves or shut it up and be in your own cosy hideaway. Jane kept us up to date prior to our arrival plus left us an amazing welcome pack with information and treats! Great walk round Carsington water just 5 mins up the road.

This is a perfect holiday cottage.

Communication with Jane prior to our stay was excellent and the welcome pack left for our arrival was very generous. The cottage was spotless and very warm and cosy. It was well equipped with everything you needed. We didn’t want to leave but will be back.

We have just spent a fantastic week at Postbox Cottage.

The cottage has everything you need and it is do cosy especially with wet and windy autumn weather! Washing machine, dishwasher, airfryer, microwave, oven just makes everything as stress free but home from home for visitors. The welcome pack was such a thoughtful idea which the kids really enjoy, thank you Jane for your kind hospitality. The cottage is in a perfect position to visit so many places (a week isnt enough!), with Alton Towers less than 30 min away, Tissington Trail for walking and cycling 15 min away, Dovedale 25 mins, Carsington Water for walking, cycling and water sports 5 min away just to name a few. The cottage and location is perfect!

A lovely clean and well appointed cottage, it was a nice size for the three of us.

Jane very kindly made contact before we arrived and was lovely to deal with. The cottage is located in an excellent location for exploring the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. In response to a previous review. The cottage was very warm, and temperature easily adjusted with a simple to use thermostat. Fridge was cold and spacious, washing machine easily accessed. Lots of paintings and rugs. Curtains fine also. Definitely no mould, the cottage was spotlessly clean. The kitchen is really well equipped. This cottage is absolutely 5 star, and we hope to return in the future.

Perfect in every way.

Five star property. Postbox Cottage was perfect for us. Jane the owner is the perfect host and goes above and beyond to ensure her guests are comfortable and happy, excellent communication. Absolutely spotlessly cottage, well equipped with everything you could possibly need and of good standard . Property extremely well maintained inside and outside. Very quiet location with lovely walks direct from the gate. Great heating fully adjustable, lovely shower and comfy beds and furniture. I must respond to the previous review. There is absolutely no mould or smell of mould anywhere the cottage is pristine , only smell was fresh and clean, Jane has replaced the fridge with a lovely fridge/freezer, put thermal curtains at the back door and the washing machine is easily accessible, heating thermostat works great . We loved every minute here and would highly recommend. Thank you so much for the alternative plant based welcome pack.

Lovely stay.

A few things were not working properly though, the fridge and the heating, the thermostat control didn't work and had a few cold evenings. The fridge did not keep cool and my bacon went off. There was a very mouldy smell too covered up by air fresheners everywhere. I was quite amused by the fridge totally blocking the washing machine so we couldn't use it. The shower was lovely though, the bed was comfortable and the location perfect. All in all it was nice, albeit very small. Ways to improve would be a door curtain on the patio doors and back door as rather cold at night . Would be more cosy with pictures on the wall and a nice rug. But it was very clean and a lovely welcome pack awaited us. After all I've said I would definitely recommend to friends.

I went there alone, and very last minute.

This cottage was absolutely beautiful. It was kitted out perfectly and was immaculate! Everything had been thought about. I felt relaxed and at ease the second I pulled into the drive. It’s set in a beautiful, quiet location where you really can forget about any worries. Gorgeous bathroom and a separate shower room And the kitchen is just lovely, with everything you could possibly need. It was a shame to leave. :) I will certainly be returning.
