Description

Resting in the heart of the Peak District, with access to National Trust properties, walking and climbing, is this Georgian townhouse within a Grade II listed building.

Set in a residential courtyard, in the pretty market town of Bakewell, this luxury accommodation is ideally suited to groups of friends, or a large family looking to explore a region of rugged peaks and open country, among attractive towns and villages.

Entry is gained to this beautiful cottage via Yorkshire stone paving, with two tall plant pots resting either side of the front door.

The entrance hallway offers a ground floor cloakroom with a utility area, and to the right is the open-plan living room.

Sit and relax on the sumptuous L-shape sofa and take the weight off your feet after a long day walking the limestone valleys.

Enjoy dinner together at the large dining table or your morning coffee up at the breakfast bar, there is plenty of space to spread yourselves out amidst a warm, welcoming setup.

The built-in fixtures in the kitchen offer a stylish feel, combined with cream gloss units and marble top island.

The bedrooms all occupy super king-size beds with zip/link function for flexibility during your stay; one bedroom rests on the ground floor whilst another boasts a large en-suite bathroom.

A modern finish throughout contrasts nicely with the period of the cottage; sash windows and picture frames on the walls stay in tune with the character.

Outside is a small patio area with seating which can be reached via the back steps.

There are many stately homes to visit in the area; including Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, whilst the impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s burial place in Hathersage are also well worth a visit.

This remarkable holiday home is the haven you have been looking for.

Lovely place to stay, easy walk to Bakewll.

Cooker was broken on arrival on the Monday. The delightful young Sykes team in Kosovo managed to get this replaced on Thursday morning - fortunately just in time for the arrival of the grandchildren. Only real quibble is that it would be very useful to have a clear set of instructions about waste disposal - a fabloned notice talked about Tues bin collections, Derbyshire CC collect alternate bins on Thursdays and there isn't a seperate food-waste bin as far as we could make out. Would highly recommend 7 Castle Hill.

The property is in an ideal location, very close to Bakewell Town Centre, overlooking the river.

It is on a bend in a main road, so great care has to exercised when exiting the site in a vehicle and in crossing the road when walking. The house was clean, with good facilities and is equipped with high-end appliances. Despite adverse comments in previous reviews we found only minor maintenance issues: a loose toilet seat and a couple of chipped or cracked glasses. We had to prompt the release of the Key Access information, which was then immediately supplied. It would be helpful if the electrical isolating switches at ceiling level could be turned on before guests are expected or at least explained in advance. We had to find this out for ourselves in order to make some electrical systems work, notably the extractor fans in the bathrooms. These minor issues aside, this was an ideal location for a family celebration - clean, comfortable and convenient. We enjoyed a lovely holiday with a splendid variety of walking and cycling opportunities, places to visit, pubs and restaurants within easy reach. We walked everywhere, visiting Bakewell, Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, the Monsal Trail, Edensor and Ashford in the Water without once our cars. Some members of the party took a short drive and walked the Southern Gritstone Edges. The Peak District at its best!
