Make use of the attractive garden outside and sit with a cooling beverage on the patio, taking in the pleasant atmosphere around you and greeting the other residents as they stroll past. Choose from a selection of delightful shops, pubs and eateries in the town centre and enjoy some fabulous walks in the area topped off with a rewarding pint! You have the ruggedness of the peaks and natural, wild beauty all around, as well as many stately homes and lovely Peak District Villages to visit or take the family to the Heights of Abraham in nearby Matlock or the caverns in Castleton. Clean, well equipped except kitchen had a lot of equipment in the cupboards, including food stuffs left by previous occupants, leaving very little space for dried foods we bought with us.

BIG problem with the very nice and clean cooker unfortunately. Despite referring to instruction manuals (which were not all in one folder as you would expect) and looking on-line, we were unable to use the top or bottom oven which appears to be "child locked" - grill did function. Others have also reported problems in their feedback which we assumed had been rectified. Steps up to kitchen are very steep with little to hold on to, which should be pointed out to families with small children and less able people. There was no rubber shower mat provided in downstairs large walk-in shower and only one hand towel in each bathroom. Access to cottage has steep, worn steps and pathways are very uneven for both front and rear access. Would suggest this is made clear on booking as this could be hazardous when slippery for families with pushchair or those less able. Garden was poorly maintained and full of weeds. It should also be noted that although it is stated there is only one designated parking space, parking on nearby roads is extremely limited largely due to permit only spaces and not as stated in the details when we booked.

Quaint cottage in a pretty location of Bakewell.

Toilet and sink for each bedroom, with 2 of the bedrooms also having a shower. Particulatly beautiful view from the top floor. Stairs to the basement bedroom were fine, but stairs leading to the other 2 bedrooms were steep - it's an old cottage. The back door next to the basement bedroom was handy at night for our dog to be let out.
