School House Cottage

Great few days away in this beautiful, fully equipped quaint little cottage.

Perfect location for exploring the countryside. The owners had thought of everything which made the stay more enjoyable. Bed was comfortable, kitchen fully equipped, facilities are good. Just worth noting the grassed area is fully enclosed. On the photos you can see wall and wooden fence, but there is wire mesh to prevent dogs getting out.

Ideal base for meeting friends staying at nearby campsite.

Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Outdoor seating and paddock bench perfect for watching the sunset.

A wonderfully quiet and peaceful location.

Tom's communication and desire to make our stay comfortable was brilliant. Maybe a welcome pack, for anyone arriving late would add a finishing touch, similar to other Sykes properties.

We loved our stay at School house cottage, relaxing, secluded and perfect for our quiet little getaway, ideal for us and our two dogs.

Everything needed was thoughtfully provided from coffee to dishwasher tablets and clothes pegs to dog shampoo with fantastic attention to detail. Lots to see in this area or maybe just enjoy the sun loungers on the private south facing patio and let the dogs play in the enclosed paddock. We had a fantastic week in School House Cottage.

Very clean with everything that you could need, well equipped kitchen including a dishwasher and washing machine. The en-suite was great and the bedroom spacious and comfortable. Supplying blankets, shampoo and towels for dogs was a very thoughtful addition. The locations for us was fantastic and our Jack Russell Bertie loved it ! We would, and already have recommended it to family and friends and would definitely stay again .

Lovely cottage, ideal for anyone looking to have a quiet time away.

The enclosed exercise field was ideal to let our 2 spaniels run free. Lovely quiet walks from the accommodation, as well as in the local villages which are only a few minutes drive away. Would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to get away from a busy lifestyle.

Fabulous peacefull would love to come back again only downside was our dogs were able to jump paddock wall wich was stressful and the downstairs window was not easy to get at and open being so low lovely countryside neighbours were very friendly and helpful

It’s a lovely location.

Wow, what a stay and what a cottage.

Everything was spotless. Facilities perfect, dishwasher and washing machine were well used by us! Small fridge freezer could fit plenty in. Bedding clean, comfy bed. Location ideal, middle of nowhere, so rural. Really appreciated the dog shampoo and towels as we did have a couple of muddy walks. Use AllTrails app for walks, wouldn’t rely on signage for footpaths in the area as a lot of these aren’t accessible/blocked off. We brought our two sausage dogs, one who is reactive/nervous to other dogs. The paddock was so lovely for them to have to run free in. The wall on the right side is slightly low so if you have a bigger dog it’s easily jumped (our sausage still managed to climb it somehow!) so definitely still need to be cautious of this if you have a Houdini dog. In terms of the garden where you enter the property the gate has a gap at the bottom so we just popped some bits there to block it off for peace of mind. The boys loved their stay - we barely saw any other dogs, maybe had one car go past per day. Walks are mostly on lead due to livestock however there is a secure field close by (we didn’t make use as the walks in the area were so long the boys were still knackered despite being on lead). Just an absolutely amazing stay. We didn’t want to leave and was so sad to be going. We had a parting gift of a Kestrel flying over us as we were driving off which was lovely. We saw throughout our stay many birds of prey, owls, swallows and housemartins etc - great for bird spotting! Thank you for our stay, I have fallen in love with the Peak District and your cottage!

Lovely cottage in a private location with great views.

Perfect cosy cottage for two, so peacefully isolated.

Plenty of good walks and pubs accessible by car. The cottage is clean and well-maintained, we particularly enjoyed the log burner and stable door! Well-equipped kitchen and furnishings for a very comfortable and relaxing stay.

An absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning setting.

Away from the hustle and bustle of life it was just what we needed! Lots of great walks on the doorstep, we will be returning!

The cottage was perfect for a week long stay with my dog.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable with everything needed, provided. Convenient location for lots of spectacular walks and interesting towns and villages. Walked to Longnor, visited Buxton and Bakewell on rainy days. Lovely walks and pub in Monyash and climbed hills from Flash ,Gradbach and earl Sterndale. All were in easy driving distance of the cottage. Would recommend the cottage to anyone who wanted a comfortable, quiet and suitably remote break. Perfect.

Lovely little cottage nicely finished and ideal for a couple and 2 Border Collies.

Ideally situated and stands alone away from any other properties. Great walks and villages within a short drive. Would certainly go again.

Perfect cosy cottage.

Enjoyed our 2nd Christmas break at this picturesque cottage. Perfect for the escape from the hustle and bustle but just a short drive to many places. Great for country walks. This cottage has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Our fur babies enjoyed the paddock and country walks. The small village of Longnor has a great convenience store- just in case you’ve run out of something. The cottage is everything as listed . Thank you Tom, you really have a little gem!

From pulling up at the property we felt the comfort of the feeling of isolation and peace and quiet.

Our x2 labradors loved the outside space, lovely quiet walks and the paddock was brilliant for them . We absolutely loved the property and surrounding area. Will definitely be returning

It’a a great little place.

In the middle of nowhere and so quiet, no lightpolution. We enjoyed a stay for 8 days, lots of hiking and relaxing in the School Cottage. Only thing is people came knocking on the door looking for other places with the same adresscode.

The cottage is the perfect retreat for an undisturbed holiday, with plenty of places to discover on foot.

We walked for miles! It was also brilliant for our 2 rescue dogs - although the Paddock next to the property is enclosed the walls aren't very high so if you have an escapee dog or a jumper just keep them on a long lead! It was immaculate inside and we didn't want to leave!

A lovely cottage, a lovely setting, comfortable and cosy, a little disappointed when you read customer comments in the book left at the cottage about “ Thankyou for the welcome gift” when we did not have one, but that aside it was a lovely week away from the norm.

We had a lovely time in this comfortable and cosy cottage.

So much so that we have rebooked to go back in May next year. We would certainly recommend it, if you like peace and quiet and a lovely area to explore.

What a great, comfortable little cottage, perfect for two people.

Wonderful views and a lovely patio to enjoy them from. Situated on a very quiet lane but with easy access to the wider countryside and amenities.

This cottage is tiny.

We arrived with 2 large dogs and found living there so uncomfortable that we left after 4 nights. Upstairs was slightly better but my 6ft 6 partner banged his head constantly. Had the very compact nature of this property been made clear, we would never have booked it. Feel like we wasted a week off.

We had a wonderful stay at school house cottage.

Far enough away from the busyness of life but close enough to lots of amazing walks. The outside space is a fantastic suntrap to sit and unwind after a good walk to some amazing views. The cottage itself was very comfortable and the only things I would possibly add are a hairdryer and a couple of blankets for humans as although it's August we had a couple of chilly evenings. (Our dog brought his own)

We had a fabulous week at the cottage it was a lovely escape from everything.

The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable.We have two sprockers who absolutely loved the dog run . We will definitely be returning. Thank you .

Cottage was beautifully clean and was very well equipped.

The location was exactly as expected and was very peaceful. Our only problem was the power cuts that we had. Three on the first night, a bit annoying for the husband who had to reset the alarm at 5:30 in the morning.

We had a lovely holiday, and this was one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

Beautiful and comfortable with a very comfortable bed and ensuite. Gorgeous countryside, stunning views and very peaceful. Every convenience and fully equipped down to sugar, coffee and milk, plus hand-wash etc; these things really make a difference. We will return!

What a little gem The School House is.

Although a road runs alongside it, the road has grass and dandelions growing up the middle. We saw two cars all week, so we would class it as remote. It is so incredibly peaceful and the outside seating area is a sun trap with views of rolling hills and fields. The cottage itself is very clean and comfortable with everything you need. We found the bed is extremely comfortable and as a result feel well rested from our holiday. The tv reception isn't great, but the Wi-Fi is, but in all honesty there is such an abundance of things to do around the area and are all easily accessed from here, you are out most of the time anyway. We would highly recommend this property. Thank you so much.

Great place, very quiet and peaceful just perfect!

A delightful well equipped and maintained cottage in the most idyllic location.

Beautiful walks from the doorstep and within easy reach of other attractions, quaint country pubs and cosy evenings in watching Netflix. The well fenced paddock was a bonus for our dog Ruby to play ball and let off steam. We will definitely be back.

A lovely, relaxing stay in a very well equipped and maintained property.

Wonderful views from the cottage and the small, enclosed field alongside was ideal for playing with and exercising our dog. A beautiful part of the world, we hope to return.

Gorgeous place to be and a lovely comfortable house.

Blessed with wonderful weather. We wished we could have stayed longer and will look to re book later in the year. The dogs loved it. Both rescue dogs appreciated the space and the peace. It was truly magical. (as someone who holidays with dogs we did not need to use our dog towels!) Bliss xx

A lovely cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location.

We really enjoyed our first holiday in this very special place. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well – equipped, in a really quiet and peaceful location - but within easy reach of Longnor and Buxton. Surrounded by beautiful scenery with fantastic views from the enclosed rear garden. The separate, enclosed paddock (which we used for exercising our nervous rescue dog) was an extra bonus. Thank you Tom for a wonderful holiday – it was just what we needed. The weather was very kind too!

Well I can't say anything negative about this place, lovely property, gorgeous surroundings,lovely places to walk , dogs loved the extra secluded garden , would highly recommend and would love to go back , 10 out of 10 x

Lovely cottage, exceptionally clean and well equipped.

Location is perfect- totally secluded and peaceful. Property not overlooked at all and traffic very rarely went past the cottage. Got great nights’ sleep- bed was very comfy. Beautiful decor and comfy furnishings. We struggled to programme heating and it was more by luck than judgement when we managed to switch it on and as it was a cold day we would have loved it to be on when arrived. We looked for instructions but maybe missed them? Freeview channels on tv didnt work which was a bit of a pain- luckily we have netflix and iplayer accounts so accessed the apps. Also shower( and amazing bath) was great flow but took ages to get temp correct .With the most minuscule of movements showerwent from burning hot to freezing cold. However these were not huge things and still had a lovely relaxing few days with some fab nearby walks

We came for our anniversary weekend and was first impressed by just how secluded and quiet the location is away from civilization.

However with this in mind, it was also really easy to get to and had plenty of parking for vehicles. I was then impressed by just how much equipment is packed into the kitchen. Every utensil you could need, the dishwasher and washing machine were very useful also. Making dinner couldn't have been easier. The smart TV was a very welcome touch whilst eating dinner. We were able to watch our favourite netflix series and browse Youtube. Longnor is a scenic walk from the cottage which along the way provides lots of views and animals to see. Longnor itself is a beautiful town which is worth visiting on your stay. The bedroom and bathroom topped the trip off. Very comfortable and has everything you need. They even include films for you to watch on the TV and board games for you to play. 10/10 and would recommend to anyone looking for a cottage getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing, romantic Christmas break away. The cottage is exactly as listed. Loved the festive decorations and the personal touch on arrival. Far enough away for solitude, yet near enough for walks and short car journeys to nearby beauty spots. We are definitely putting this little gem on our return list. Thank you

Will definitely be back again, property was beautiful, only the sofas aren’t the comfiest. But other than that a lovey pleasant stay and beautiful surroundings!

Beautiful, cosy and compact cottage which had everything we needed for our stay.

The night sky, when clear, was amazing! The location was perfect, very peaceful and remote, yet not too far from towns such as Buxton and Leek. Would recommend visiting Tittesworth Reservoir and Rudyard Lake for circular walks with lovely views. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would book again.

We have had a lovely break at School House Cottage.

The location was perfect, remote but easy access to towns and great Pubs that let dogs in. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The log burner was a real treat, not a necessity as the heating was very adequate, but lovely to sit in front of in the evenings. Hope to return again, Liz & Mick Jones & Pip

Perfect cottage nicely situated on top of a hill just far enough far the neighbouring properties, lovely and warm nice log burner and well laid out, we both thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights there

Great little cottage for 2 and a dog.

It is well equipped with everything you would need. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Enclosed garden so doggo couldn't escape. Rural location with no neighbours. Short drive to the nearest village with a little shop, cafe, post office and pub. Great location for walking in the peaks. We loved it here and we will be visiting again next year as there were so many walks we didn't do.

Bijou but well equipped.

A hideaway but close to the town. Comfy beds. Ample amounts of hot water to soak in the lovely rolled top bath. A paddock at the side of the property for your dog. Our third time here

The cottage was in a wonderful location!

Very relaxing. I love to relax in the sunshine, a sun lounger would have been perfect for me. We made the mistake and put the address in goggle maps, it took us to Ashbourne, we should have gone with your written directions, our fault but we got to the cottage eventually. The milk was a god sent, I forgot to pick some up on the way, thank you. Alan enjoyed his Birthday get away. Thank you x

Lovely little cottage, quiet and peaceful, remote but close enough to get to a lot of places to visit (Bakewell, Buxton, Chatsworth, etc).

Was well equipped and comfortable. Good enclosed garden for the fog but also private enclosed grass area for him to play in. Loved our week there.
