Boasting a scenic location within the Peak District National Park, character features including original beams and a stylish reverse-level layout, Nine Ladies is an idyllic dwelling for three couples or a family of six looking for a retreat in the Peaks.
Step into the porch of your new home-away-from-home where you can discard any coats and shoes after your journey and store any walking equipment, you'll also find a washing machine for keeping your holiday wardrobe fresh.
Moving through the ground-floor, you will find three beautifully appointed bedrooms, a double with en-suite shower room and two twin rooms, each served by a bathroom, where you can indulge in a blissful soak in the bath or refreshing shower after a day of exploring.
Climb the stairs to the first floor and be welcomed into an open-plan living space, where you can look forward to rustling up flavoursome meals utilising the electric oven and hob, fridge and microwave in the well-equipped kitchen, as well as a handy dishwasher for those easy clean ups!
Gather around the dining table for six and savour the fruits of your labour, before retreating to the plush sofas to relax and catch up with your favourite shows on the Smart TV.
In the morning, treat your guests to breakfast with a view out on the private enclosed courtyard as you make plans for the day ahead.
Take advantage of your superb location and venture into the local village, where you will find two pubs, including the welcoming Druid Inn, a restaurant serving scrumptious British cuisine, ideal for those evenings where you don’t feel like cooking!
From here, venture over to the well-known historical landmark of Nine Ladies Stone Circle, of which your holiday home was named after, where you will find a fascinating circle of up-right stones spanning back to the Bronze Age, frequented by walkers and tourists, as well as druids and pagans who celebrate summer solstice there.
Next stop is the nearby village of Winster, home to an impressive 18th-century National Trust market house, a delightful selection of pubs, restaurants and a village store.
Venture over to Bakewell accessed via its historic arched bridge, where you can delve into history at The Old House museum, enjoy leisurely walks along the River Wye or sample the tasty local dessert, the Bakewell Tart.
Further afield is Matlock, where you can hop aboard the Peak Rail on a vintage steam train as you take in the extraordinary sights, picnic in the beautiful Hall Leys Park next to the River Derwent, or embark up the summit to visit the Pic Tor War Memorial.
Be sure to make time to visit Matlock Bath, with it’s superb Heights of Abraham attraction which offers cavern tours and a fossil museum, the Peak District Mining Museum and Gulliver’s World, which promises a fun-filled day out for all the family.

What guests are saying
Unfortunately both showers were not clean - there was hair on the bases.
One bedroom blind had black mould on it - which brought on my granddaughter’s asthma. We didn’t realise how difficult it would be to park, which we appreciate is not the fault of the owners but there could have been advice. Both pubs in the village were closed, again not the fault of the owners but was disappointing. Another not if staying with children - as the 9 Ladies is upside-down ie living rooms upstairs ( which we were aware of) - the wooden floors upstairs meant it could be very noisy for those in the holiday home underneath. Finally, the drains from both showers stank!
An upside down converted chapel.
Well furnished, quirky decor. Creaky floor boards, Wifi. Village but with two pubs within a short walk. Advice - Don't use the SATNAV directions - arrive via A6 and Winster, not the Via Gellia road from Cromford. Bring tea towels! Mind the step in the bathroom. Any knocking you hear is not the ghost, check the HIVE settings!
The home is beautiful and clean in a charming village.
The direction were not detailed enough and no one answered the phone in the afternoon on a weekday. Fortunately, we encountered many helpful strangers and found our way.
