Chestnut Cottage

Had a great few days in chestnut cottage for our family get together.

It is a really lovely cottage, and is very well equipped. It was actually better then we were expecting, and warmand cozy. It is in a great location, very quiet and rural, but is a secure gated property. Lots of great walks on the doorstep, but any shops pubs etc you will need to get in the car.

Very happy with all aspects of our stay at Chestnut Cottage.

It was clean, comfortable and safe. The location is great for dog walkers. Particularly appreciated the EV charging facility. Our dog quickly settled and we had a great week exploring the Peaks in mostly superb weather.

Perfect secluded & private cottages, great location for exploring the local area.

All the facilities you would need for a lovely break away. The hot water pump failed whilst we were there but we were communicated with about the issue & it was promptly fixed. Would definitely recommend

We absolutely loved staying here-our girls loved their bedrooms and all the games in the cupboard.

The nearby reservoir walks are beautiful and we were lucky to also have great weather. The cottage provided everything we needed- it was well thought out my daughter loved the rack outside to clean her shoes! Thank you also for the prosecco and shortbread a nice touch!

Great location right next to two reservoirs- great for dog walking!

This was lovely conversion in a great location for walks.

Comfy beds and plenty of parking. The lodge is well equipped and had everything we needed. A couple of extra cupboards would help in the kitchen for storage but having a washing machine was really useful after muddy walks. The EV charger was particularly helpful to have on site. Would definitely recommend.

Lovingly refurbished property within a picturesque setting.

Perfect for a relaxing getaway visiting family. We will definitely be rebooking next time we visit family in Sheffield.

Lovely cottage with a very homely feel.

Very clean and had most of the stuff we required to make our stay comfortable. It was lovely chatting with the owner who was very friendly and welcoming. All the conveniences are nearby yet still has that quiet countryside feeling. There's a lovely outdoor seating area with BBQ stand, which was great to use in the evening whilst watching the sun set. The kids loved it and we were all sad to leave. We hope to be back again in the near future.

The house is great for space with a super large lounge.

The location is magical, but have your own drink for the evening... the pub may not be far away but a very steep hike. Will definitely recommend it to friends. Kitchen knives that cut would be great! Or bring your own sharpner!!

Lovely spacious cottage with good quality finish inside and out.

Perfect and unique location with great views and walks on your door step. Close to Sheffield and a great base to explore the Peak District. Loved our stay would highly recommend for families that like exploring.

Beautifully clean property in a lovely setting.

Very spacious and comfortable property. The main double bed was a bit hard for us but other than that, we didn’t have any problems at all. It had everything we needed and was spotless. The addition of an electric car charger on site was an excellent addition and much appreciated! Walks from the property were beautiful and further afield there is so much to explore.

Chestnut Cottage was the first of The Old Sawmill cottages we stayed in.

It was just prior to Christmas and the cottage was decorated for the season with a lovely Christmas tree. Chestnut Cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The space has been cleverly designed and is well equipped and nicely decorated. It was warm and cozy despite the cold weather. Walks from the cottage are lovely. We appreciated the gated entrance and the ease of parking. We would happily stay at Chestnut Cottage again.

We absolutely loved our last minute stay here after ‘original cottages’ failed us with black mould in one of their advertised lodges we then booked this lovely SUPER CLEAN, great location, quiet and perfect for dog walks! We will most definitely stay again. I’ve booked through Sykes many times, this lodge has been the one with the most useful facilities, literally have everything you could think of for self catering!

beautiful property Everything was very well provided for.

A manual for the electric fire would have been useful! Beds very comfortable but the VERY large duvet in the middle room was weird! The shower was far too powerful and resulted in a flooded bathroom floor The welcome booze ,milk etc was very thoughtful 2 smaller coffee tables instead would have been more practical but all in all a beautifully comfortable place to stay We will certainly use it again

Chestnut Cottage was a perfect place to stay with the family.

Plenty of room and well equipped for our stay. Beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. Outside was a patio with wooden furniture and it was such a lovely peaceful setting . Our youngest grandson loved the Gypsy caravan and wooden animal carvings! A wonderful place to stay.

We had a fabulous stay at Chestnut cottage. It was everything we hoped for and more. Your cottage is beautiful. It was so clean and nicely decorated, and the facilities were great. It met our needs perfectly. Thank you for the cheeky Prosecco too! The grounds are stunning- gorgeous location with the setting, but also the way the cottages are set out, with the Romany caravan and sculptures, and grassy areas, and benches outside. Nicely done. We really really didn’t want to leave. The kitchen was really well supplied with everything we needed, the TV was fab and easy to use, and we loved the books and games you had too. The settees and beds were comfy, and the bathroom facilities were great. Powerful shower, and everything felt so clean and new. It was the first time we’ve ever taken our doggy on holiday, and we were a bit nervous, but it honestly couldn’t have been better. Thank you so much, and we will be telling everyone how wonderful your cottage is!

A couple of minor issues but, our 3rd time at this location, and will be back!

Lovely little cottage, very good location as can easily get to parts of sheffield within half an hour.

We liked the fact it was near a reservoir so you could walk around that without driving anywhere. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful, clean, comfort cottage in a stunning location.

The most amazing place!

The surrounding areas are beautiful. The place itself is private with a gate to get in and out so you feel safe. Cottage itself is outstanding, the decor is lovely and cosy. They really have thought of everything you need, down to hooks on the back of the door. There’s heating and an electric fire so no cold nights. I’m so sad I’m home and cannot wait to go again! Oooo also a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and biscuits.

Excellent cottage which gave a warm, homely feeling from the start.

We really appreciated the extra effort to add a Christmas tree and decorations. It was spacious enough for a family of five and was well furnished. We will definitely be returning in the future

Excellent property which was well equipped and in a great location for walking.

Only feedback would be to look at whether a shower room could be created in the property to complement the main bathroom as one bathroom for 3 rooms was a bit tight.

We loved Chestnut Cottage, despite the photos on the site walking into the cottage for the first time was a lovely surprise.

The cottage was larger and nicer than we expected, although the photos did portray the cottage accurately. It was very cosy and warm and well furnished. The cottages are tucked away between 2 reservoirs and the location is very quiet...but very near to Sheffield and the Peaks...for us a perfect location. In fact, we have booked again.

Absolutely beautiful little gem of a place.

Incredible location, stunning surroundings and a high calibre property. The cottage had everything we needed and more, as well as having a free to use electric vehicle charger which was a welcome surprise! I would have no doubts about recommending this place, or one of the three cottages at the property to couples, families or groups. As a side note, it had the most powerful shower I’ve ever experienced in my life. It was wonderful. Imagine Karcher making showers instead of pressure washers and you’ve pretty much got it! :))

We had a wonderful holiday very relaxing just the tonic we needed after another busy year on the front line , would love to come back again

This is my second stay in the cottages here - first time in Chestnut Cottage.

It worked really well for 6 of us and we were very grateful for the dog washing facilities and the EV charging. There are a few things that I hope are useful to mention - the bathroom door could do with adjusting so that it doesn't have to be closed with such force - not good in the middle of the night, also the smaller of the two double bedrooms needs the door hinge oiling/WD40 as it is very squeaky - again not good at night. We really missed a bread knife, kitchen scales would be really useful and it would have been good to have more than 6 of each cutlery item so that we didn't have to wash up at each meal.

Spacious, clean, superbly well maintained, excellent wi-fi and within own gated grounds. Would highly recommend Chestnut Cottage.
