Hunters Cottage

What a fabulous comfortable & spotless cottage we had a fantastic break location & everything about the place was faultless

This traditional cottage is a delight.

The owners have provided everything you could need for a stay. The bedrooms are large as are the other rooms in the house and although you are aware you are in an old cottage it has been sympathetically modernised to feel roomy. The enclosed sunny back garden was a bonus for our dog. A short walk into the small village takes you to at least 3 dog friendly cafes for breakfast and 3 pubs. The countryside surrounding is beautiful with many walks by the river. A lovely place to relax and recharge your batteries!

We had such a lovely stay at Hunter's cottage.

The cottage was well equipped, clean, comfortable and in such a great location too. I needn't have worried about the parking as there was always somewhere close to the cottage to park. We loved the added extras (teas/coffees and dog biscuits) we would definitely recommend and would love to come back. Thank you.

Great location.

Comfy beds. Had everything you need. Was very cobwebby in places - particularly the lights in the kitchen. Just needs a deeper clean. Overall great place to stay

This is our 2nd time staying here so it is obvious we really like this cottage & its location.

The cottage is clean, spacious & well equipped. We love the 2 large comfortable beds & the double bedroom still having room for a travel cot. There is adequate seating in the lounge & dining table, with log burner & smart tv. With the windows closed the cottage is quiet enough but beware of noisy buses, lorries etc at the front. The bath has a shower in it but is a nice size bathroom. There are lovely walks locally & small shop with tea room in the village & very friendly pubs; we went to the Bulls Head who couldn't have been more helpful & friendly. We will definitely come back with our family.

Lovely clean cottage with plenty of space for 6 adults & 2 dogs.

It’s our 3rd time staying in the village and would highly recommend Hunters Cottage for your stay.

What a lovely cottage in a beautiful area.

Very comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. Bonus of outdoor space for our dogs. Couldn’t fault it , the lovely owners have thought of everything and made a gem of a holiday cottage. Would love to return. Many thanks.

This is the second time we have stayed at Hunters cottage.

It is very well equipped. The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds. It is a great location in the centre of the village with lovely walks in the vicinity. The back yard is secure if you are bringing a dog, with blankets and dog treats in the cottage. Parking is only available on the roadside opposite the cottage but may not always be available however there are lanes close by which can be used.

Being winter time cold damp took a long time for lounge to get warm all other rooms ok could do with a welcome package as all in recent times Cottage’ very comfortable good night sleep in nice comfy beds Visitors need to be aware of pub opening time and food service All in all very good

Superb all-round.

All rooms excellent but particularly kitchen and bathroom(s). Furnished and decorated with real thought and love. Very tastefully done. This is the first review we have ever completed for anything!.....felt compelled to do so because this cottage is the best we have ever stayed in.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hunter's Cottage!

We had literally everything we needed (tea, coffee, dog biscuits!!) and everything was super cosy and comfortable. The enclosed courtyard garden was great for letting our dog into without worrying (as she can be a little escape artist!), the kitchen was spacious and well stocked and we enjoyed several cosy nights in front of the log burner watching a film. The village is delightful too. We only tried one of the 3 pubs (The Bull's Head) but the food was good, very accommodating for the dog and the family who run it were very friendly. We also went to the Italian pop up at the bakery one evening which we would highly recommend - delicious! The little shop and cafe just down the road from the cottage was great too. Tasty coffee and very generous granola serving for breakfasts. We did some lovely walks along the Lathkill river, Monsal Trail and Mam Tor, visited Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock and did the Chatsworth Christmas light trial and still feel like we could come back and do so much more! We would definitely like to come back to Hunter's Cottage again and explore more of the gorgeous Peak District. Thank you so much for a truly comfortable, enjoyable stay.

What a fabulous time we had at this property celebrating my 60th birthday.

A very cosy cottage and so well equipped. The log burner was lit every night after lovely walks in the surrounding areas. Didn't use the car again until we came to leave !

Absolute Gem, we were torn between two cottages but really did pick the best.

For me it’s the thought out little details that make a difference… coffee = essential, dog biscuits, dog noodle towel, shower gel… just all of it. The artwork in the rooms made me smile, aswell as the Denby crockery. So very well equipped and a prime location for exploring this gorgeous village. We loved our walks down the hill and past the river, even saw a heron. There were talks of a kingfisher too but yet to be seen. The location is perfect for everything, we tried each pub and our favourite was the farmyard inn. Fantastic little bakery and coffee shops. Thank you so much for such a beautiful cottage.

Lovely spacious, light, clean, comfortable and well-equipped accommodation.

The view from the back bedroom window was beautiful over the surrounding hills. It is difficult to find 3 double bedrooms & all were lovely, two were kings. The lounge had a log fire, which unfortunately this time, was definitely not needed on this hot break away. Kitchen was nice & spacious with good utensils, lovely big double oven, and with gas hob. There is a small dishwasher, which was not quite big enough for 5 people and a baby, but we did several cycles to get over this. There is a nice little courtyard, which was a sun trap with nice garden furniture, nice & safely enclosed for our dogs but nowhere for them to do their business, so had to take them for a short walk, however, plenty of places to walk. A jar of dog biscuits, dog bowls, dog towel & dog blankets were a lovely touch. We had several nice walks down into the valley with the shallow river Bradford which our dogs didn’t want to leave. Smart TV was good and the sofas were plenty for the 5 of us; this has been a problem in some of our previous holidays. Communication beforehand was really good with hosts, Marion & Richard. We would definitely like to return. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

We were so delighted when we walked into Hunters Cottage - beautfully furnished and a very well equiped kitchen.

The secure patio was ideal for our dog and was a real sun trap. The location couldn't be better either just down from the village shop and opposite a pub. We will definitely book this cottage again.

Lovely quaint cottage with deceptive space - 6 of went for a family catch up (our 2 grown up kids and their other halves and the dog) ….

. housed us all perfectly with a spacious bathroom (great shower !) and roomy comfortable bedrooms. We cooked dinner both nights and the kitchen offered everything we needed (our only criticism would be it only has a small under counter fridge with small freezer it needed a bigger or extra fridge for 2 dinners/breakfasts etc and all the drinks everyone brought) - playing games round the log fire at night was the icing on the cake. The area is absolutely stunning with short and long dog walks on your doorstep - the 2 pubs offer great food and ales if you don’t want to travel far - all accessible on foot. The access and parking to the property is a challenge but once you are unloaded, parked and in it’s fine. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a lovely lovely house - we will be back !!

Hunters Cottage was home from home - spacious but cosy and very clean and comfortable.

The private courtyard a bonus. We had a wonderful week exploring Youlgreave, the beautiful riverside walks and the surrounding area of the National Park as well as visiting family in nearby Eyam. Youlgreave is a pretty dog friendly village with great pubs, cafes and village shops with many walks direct from the door too. Our dog Jarvis loved our week here. The Pet blankets were great! We do hope to return. Thank you Richard and Marian.

I was so impressed with the attention to detail in this lovely, spacious cottage.

Absolutely everything was thought of. The location was great and despite reservations about parking there was no issue at all, being able to park right outside on the road. Time of year helped of course. The cottage was warm, cosy, and stylishly furnished. The outside area was perfect for the sunny mornings. I would absolutely stay again and will be recommending to friends and family.

Great cottage lovely holiday had everything you needed will definitely be back

We had a problem accessing the cottage, after several phone calls this was sorted after a mix up with the cleaner and the keys in the safe box.

After being asked by the owner to try the back door to access two of our part slipped when crossing the back yard due to un-jet washed yard. This was mentioned to the owner and he arranged for this to be done asap. Apart from these two issues we had a wonderful stay in a delightful cottage and village. All you could need.

Lovely stay.

Cosy and comfortable cottage. Very well equipped. Beautiful and well resourced village. Highly recommend.

Loved having the wood burning stove (weather not good during our stay).

Kitchen was well equipped. Beds comfy and all nicely decorated. Location could not have been better. What a great village with fantastic local shop and lovely bakery not to mention the pubs and great walks straight from the property. Dog friendly and throws for the sofas in case dogs want to snuggle up. We managed to carry our muddy dog through to the back court yard where there's a hose but the courtyard is very slippy in the wet so take care.

a beautiful property with attention to detail.

if you're looking for an idyllic, cosy cottage getaway in the peaks, this is perfect. The weather in January wasn't the best for lots of walks, but the log burner and cosy living room meant that staying in and warming up to the fire made up plenty for that. Hunters cottage had lots of eco friendly extras available, a lovely touch such as dog biscuits which they thoroughly enjoyed, and what I am most impressed with - plenty of amenities available - bin bags, every utensil we could possibly need, bin bags, dog bowls, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, pots, pans, a request for dogs to not sit on the sofa (understandable) and then DOG blankets to add to said sofa. I cannot express how impressed I am. i'm sure it wont be our last visit.

What a wonderful well-equipped cottage.

We had a fabulous pre-Christmas break, the house was decorated, which delighted the grandchildren, and we played many of the board games in front of the log burner whilst the gale force wind whistled outside, but we felt lovely and snug. The beds were so comfy and the clothing storage was adequate for our family. We all enjoyed the walks along the river and popping into the local pubs each evening, we really felt welcomed by all the locals. We shopped in the bakery and the supermarket which were reasonably priced. This was one of the most well equipped cottages we have ever stayed in, we were able to cook and bake as the kitchen had every utensil you could possibly need. We had two doggies who regularly got muddy due to the December weather, but the set-up of the boot room entrance and the flagged floor helped us to clean them up easily . If this cottage draws your attention, book it, you’ll love it! Ps: despite having no designated parking space this did not hamper us in anyway, we always found a parking space, and we had 2 cars!

A beautiful and well maintained cottage with lots of character.

A friendly community and we found parking easy. We did find lighting the wood burner a little different, we’ll brush up on our campfire skills for our next stay.

Lovely cottage, great location for walks & pubs.

Very clean & comfortable, thank you

Excellent cottage in the Peak District.

Perfect for 6 adults comfortably. Loved the fact there were 3 double beds, 3 sofas and space round the table for everyone. Lovely outside space, beautiful kitchen as well as having two toilets inside. Parking was also easy. Nice to have the log burner too. We used this both nights. Overall a perfect stay and would definitely book again!

Lovely cottage set in the heart of the village.

The facilities were great. Our only problem was parking. The village does have an issue with street parking, or lack of. We had to park out of the village and walk in.

The cottage is lovely, clean, very comfortable and has everything you need.

It is convenient for the shops and The George where you can get excellent food. We had no problems parking and the walk by the river is beautiful. We loved the village, so nice to just wander round. It was only a short break but very enjoyable. Thank you.

Amazing stay at Hunter’s Cottage.

We loved how homely it felt and the location was perfect!

Absolutely amazing cottage and location - 5 Stars l.

There were a million good things about this cottage, so seems mean mentioning this little point here - but I guess it helps the owners just iron it out for future guests. Latch on courtyard gate needs attention as doesn’t work - so had to put chair against it to keep it closed. This is bar far the best cottage we have ever stayed in, very well furnished and had everything you can ever want. We will be back definitely !!

Lovely stay recommended would stay again.

What a beautiful, well-equipped cottage in a lovely part of the world.

Very comfortable and moments walk from shops and pubs. Couldn’t fault it.

We had another wonderful long weekend in the Peaks.

Thank you! The cottage was lovely, the kitchen was extremely well equipped and even had picnic utensils, boxes, plates etc. Really thoughtful. The beds were very comfortable and the house was warm and cosy. The only downside was I did hoover on arrival as there were still crumbs under the table and mud in the back room and kitchen. But otherwise a wonderful stay!

Excellent cottage, fully stocked kitchen equipment, comfy beds.

The village is lovely - lots of pub and lovely shops/cafes for food

What a lovely property.

We really appreciated how well stocked it was and how comfortable. Excellent location, although there is no designated parking we didn't struggle to find some. We've been to lots of pet friendly properties in the past but this one was probably the best kitted out, with dog treats, spare bowls and blankets for the sofas. We had great meals nearby at the Fountain Bakery and the Farmyard pub.

Beautiful characterful property, very clean and comfortable.

Thanks for having us!

Perfect for a family break with a dog.

Very well equipped, in a great location and lovely walks close by. Everything you need. We would love to come back in the summer.

Hunters Cottage is absolutely beautiful and is furnished to the highest standard.

It is so well equipped so it is the perfect home from home. It is so comfortable and the location is absolutely perfect. Richard was so helpful in the run up to our stay and is a great host. The 3 local pubs serve lovely food, there are local shops and everything you need so you don't actually need to leave the village. We did some of the local walks and the area is just stunning. I really cannot recommend it enough. We had a fabulous stay. Thank you for being amazing and we will definately be back!!

Excellent location in a lovely village with great walks from the door.

Very well-equipped cottage. We enjoyed our stay

Thank you for a lovely stay.

The cottage was very well equipped, comfortable and cosy and the hosts were very accommodating. It was a lovely weekend. We went for a 3 hour loop walk straight from the house and had a great evening in the Farmyard Inn on the Saturday. Would really recommend this property. Equally the village has a lot to offer, 3 pubs, a bakery, deli/shop, plus a post office and another cafe. All this and beautiful countryside on your doorstep!!!

The cottage is lovely, and its location within the Main Street of the village was so handy, a 10 second walk to the shop, bakery, any of the three pubs.

I managed to park the car within 100meters of the cottage each day too. Our morning walk in the valley to the Youlgreave books was blissful. My only negative is there is no sound proofing with next door, so at times it felt like they were in our house, not sure if they were renters too or local so appreciate it may or may not be a regular occurrence. There didn’t seem to be any bin bags which is no biggie as the village shop was 10 seconds walk away but blue recycling bin in the shed, obviously hadn’t been put out the week before us (as requested on the notice) so the bin was over flowing before we got there with mouse droppings in it. Again not something that can be helped. There didn’t seem to be any notice of what is recyclable or not in Derbyshire and what to do on check out apart from with the key. We striped the beds and put the used towels in the bathroom not a biggy just hope we did what they wanted. Over all it was a fantastic week and the cottage was really lovely just minor points which I am not sure the owners would have any control off but I thought worth mentioning.

What a perfect cottage in a perfect village in a perfect location!

Can't wait to come back which we definitely will and will recommend to anyone who wishes to visit the area. We were 6 adults, a baby and a dog and it worked just fine. Spotlessly clean, cosy, a home from home and definitely not your standard basic holiday let, more than well equipped. The village is well served with pubs, bakeries, stores and cafes and loads of walks you can do from the village. Don't hesitate to book!
