The Old Bakery Barn

Thanks Ken and Carol for a lovely stay.

Nice walks on the doorstep and nearby places of interest. Everything was clean, tidy and well kept. Parking is a bit tight but you get used to it after a couple goes, WiFi wasn’t particularly reliable though to be expected in these areas. Would stay again!

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and well maintained property.

Ken and Carol were so friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome. Lots of thoughtful essentials provided for us, including Tea and Coffee, fresh Milk, cooking Oil, Soap, Shampoo etc. There was even a nice bottle of Wine chilling in the fridge! Ken told us about all of the local shops, cafés pubs etc, and gave us the heads up on some lovely local walks. There were maps and other useful books provided in the apartment, which made it easy to make the most of their stay. We found The Barn to be a lovely and comfortable place to stay. We particularly enjoyed the view from the kitchen window, which seemed to change with the weather, lighting and conditions etc. Thanks again Ken and Carol for a brilliant stay. We fell in love with Youlgrave, so I'm sure you'll be seeing us again. Best regards. Doug and Alison.

The property is warm, clean and welcoming.

An ideal place to return to after a lovely walk or visit to the many attractions in the area. A very comfortable bed, relaxing furniture and all you need in the kitchen area. The host was informative, helpful and welcoming.

Lovely comfortable property.

Everything there that we needed. Lovely owner who came to see us and explain about the surrounding area and the facilities in the property. The only downside was the access to the property which was very tight but the owner had telephoned me the day before to warn us. All in all a very restful break.

A lovely property in a beautiful location.

A warm welcome from the owner upon arrival. Everything as expected and explained in the email sent prior to arrival. Lots of information leaflets about the local area and places to visit. Had evening meals in all three village pubs great food and friendly chatty staff.

The cottage is ideal for a couple.

Excellent location for walking holidays. Quite possible to walk from the cottage and not move the car. Host very amenable and keen to provide whatever information is required. You have to be careful entering the yard where the car parking is located as entry is narrow. Shouldn’t put anyone off as it is negotiable with care. Village of Youlgrave has three pubs, two cafes and three shops and is a short drive from Bakewell and Chatsworth House, both of which are worth a visit

The cottage/apartment was perfect for my requirements.

The owners are a lovely couple and very helpful.

They have great knowledge of the area and suggested places to visit. We had a great stay at the barn. Would definitely recommend a stay here. The only thing I would mention is the entrance to the barn is a bit tight if you have a big car, but this is mentioned in the property description. Thank you Carol and Ken for a wonderful holiday.

We had a very pleasant stay in The Barn.

It is a nice apartment with enough space. Everything you need during your stay is in the apartment. We were very well informed by Ken, the owner and Youlgreave is a pleasant community. There are a few nice pubs in the village and some small shops. The countryside is very beautiful and Bakewell, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth are in the neighbourhood. We are back in Holland now, but we miss the Peak District and Youlgreave already!

We had a lovely few days at The Barn, it was very clean and cosy with everything we needed.

We highly recommend the accommodation and would definitely return without hesitation.

Fabulous break.

Located in the centre of the village, handy for everything. Over 10 walks directly from the door, so no need to move the car. Marvellous.

The property was well equipped for self-catering and was very clean and comfortable.

It is perfectly situated for exploring Lathkill Dale and Bradford Dale, with plenty of walking from the door. Youlgrave is a charming village with two useful shops and three pubs. We will definitely return.

It was clean and well appointed with everything we needed. The owner was just next door so it would have been easy if we had had problems, but we didn’t need to trouble them.

The Old Barn was ideal for the two of us.

It was comfortable and well-equipped. It was good to meet the owner Ken and get some ideas for our stay. The area is lovely, with lots of walks from the village. We ate at the Bull's Head and at the Farmyard Inn - both served good food at fair prices.

We had a comfortable,relaxing stay in the old bakery barn.

We had all that was needed . Tea, coffee and pint of milk was provided, and the wine was a nice little extra on our arrival . The owners also provided plenty of information on nearby walks and places to visit ( including nearby pubs) which was great as we had not visited the area before.

Fantastic cottage, very clean and tidy and everything you would need including a welcome gift of Tea, Milk and a bottle of wine.

Lovely property in a perfect location.

The Old Bakery Barn is beautifully decorated, clean fresh, well furnished and provided with everything you need.

The heating was more than adequate. There was an ample supply of local information provided be it walks, sightseeing or whatever took your fancy, including places to eat. Ken went out of his way to arrange for us to meet up with a couple of people in the village to help in our Family History research. I have no hesitation in recommending the Old Bakery Barn.

The property was really well equipped, very comfortable & relaxing. Plenty of information provided about the area, things to see and do, various walks and the timetable for the regular bus service.

The welcome from owners was very good and helpful. Walks from the door all excellent, did not have to use the car till we left. 4 good places to eat and a very good shop and bakery, all within 5 min walk.

Ideal base for walking and enjoying the beauty of the Peak District.
