The Cottage Bradwell

A smashing cottage, the second time we have stayed there.

It has everything we need. The beds are super comfortable. The owner takes great care over the cleanliness and accomdation. The location is exactly right for a visit and our interests which include long walks. We appreciate it so much I have rebooted for two visits in 2027. Well.done Janet.

We absolutely loved Bradwell and made the most of our four-night stay, visiting Hope, Castleton, Hathersage, Grindleford and Bakewell.

We also enjoyed a lovely stop in Buxton on the way up and a morning swim at Hathersage Lido before heading home. Communication with the owner was excellent throughout. Friendly, helpful and genuinely appreciative. The cottage itself is immaculate, spotlessly clean and exactly as shown in the photographs. The attention to detail is exceptional: a thoughtful dog box containing a blanket, towel and treats; a fire-starting box; a Dyson vacuum; night lights; games and books; and a well-stocked kitchen with tea bags, salt, pepper, oils and cleaning products. The welcome loaf and milk were a particularly lovely touch. We stayed during the summer, so didn’t use the fire, but we would love to return for a cosy winter evening with it lit! The super king-size bed was incredibly comfortable, too. We honestly couldn’t have asked for more and will definitely be back for another stay. Very highly recommended – well done!

Beautiful small cottage in a great, not too touristy village, with lovely views and extremely comfortable.

Excellent beds, lovely and unobtrusive decor, comfy sofa, every detail well thought out! Wonderful walks uphill and downhill from the door, and shops/pub within 5 minutes - we barely used the car.

Beautiful cosy cottage, perfect location for countryside walks or visiting local towns.

Impeccably clean and well presented. Very well furnished and with a modern bathroom and kitchen. I would definitely recommend this property to others looking for holiday accommodation in a desirable location. Well done.

A beautiful cottage.

Well maintained and very comfortable. Everything you need in the cottage. The cottage is not far from the local amenities, as stated in the description, but we did find the lanes very steep. For those less mobile this would definitely cause problems walking back up to the cottage. Lovely hosts. Very easy to contact. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Beautiful place so peaceful . Cottage was beautiful presented and had everything we needed .

The cottage was clean and well equipped for our stay.

Just be aware, if you're tall, that there are a couple of low door frames and the cooker hood sticks out. My husband hit his head on the frames and ended up with a graze on his head from the cooker hood. Two of the neighbours have cats , so beware if your dog isn't happy about them as one keeps coming to sit on the wall surrounding the patio and won't move. The streets in the immediate vicinity of the cottage are very narrow so take care when driving. We would recommend Castleton for food.There are two pubs that serve food in the village but the food is basic and mostly frozen. There was a very nice welcome pack and milk in the fridge, thank you.

The cottage was clean & welcoming.

Beds were super comfy. It had everything you needed for your stay. The only thing I would say is for dog owners to be aware of the height of the wall in the garden. First thing my dog did was jump on the wall & there is quite a significant drop from it. It just meant that we were unable to let her out there unsupervised However the cottage is really lovely & we had a relaxing short break

Perfect cottage in beautiful location to explore the surrounding area.

We were blessed with a week of sunshine and spent most evenings soaking up the sun in the garden, which has lovely views. Bed very comfortable and shower excellent. Kitchen well equipped and welcome pack very thoughtful. Not ideal if have mobility issues with steps to kitchen and a good climb from village back to cottage. Amazing walks in the area, didn’t always have to move the car. Good pubs, good transport with buses from village, and a convenient Co-Op. Would definitely return & recommend. Only one small minor comment would be that we kept banging our heads on the glass cooking extractor hood, but no damage done to hood or heads! Thank you for a wonderful week.

We stayed in the cottage for 3nts and it was lovely and cosy.

The cottage was 5* for cleanliness and facilities, it had everything we needed. I would 100% recommend this cottage and we will be back for another stay. We loved it!!

We had a fabulous time celebrating the New Year in the Cottage.

As soon as walked in we felt right at home, it is so comfortable and homely, extremely clean and the Christmas tree and the welcome pack were a lovely touch ( homemade marmalade

The cottage is absolutely beautiful and Janet is a lovely lady.

She left us a lovely welcoming pack and text us to see if everything was okay and if we needed anything to just let her know. The area is stunning and we had lots of things to visit also Janet recommended a pub to visit and eat ( the old bowling green ) what a great pub very friendly and great food

Very lucky to have picked this cottage, very recently renovated so everything looked and felt new.

Really comfy bed and a great hot shower welcomed us after our long walks. Bradwell was a really pleasant surprise after having stayed in Castleton a number of times before. As well as Janet the property owner we found all the staff in the pubs, shop and cafe extremely friendly. We would definitely recommend The Cottage, ideal for couples looking for a relaxing place to stay.

This really is a beautiful home from home with amazing views.

Our dog enjoyed it and settled straight away in his surroundings.The Cottage is very well equipped, the owner has thought of everything and the welcome pack was unexpected but very much appreciated and enjoyed. We will certainly be recommending it to friends.
