The property was not clean at all and was extremely dated/tired, for the money paid you would expect a lot better

As a winter property it does not meet the mark.

First impressions: some internal doors would not close, and the sash windows are long past their sell date. This showed in the blinds being moved about by the wind blowing through the gaps in the window frames. Two of the dining chairs had bolts missing that attached the seat to the frame, which made them unsafe to use. I don’t think this just happened; I would put it down to a lack of recent maintenance. As time went by, more things became apparent. The living room, being part of the open‑plan ground floor, had one inefficient radiator in the corner. The log burner had foliage placed in front of it, giving the impression that it was not in use, and this was reinforced by the lack of any logs, even though the information said there would be fuel provided. The TV controller was extremely difficult to use; no matter how hard you pressed the buttons, it would not respond. This could have been put down to an unfortunate error if it wasn’t for the fact that the same issue was reported in Nov 24. Upstairs, the heat issue was the opposite. This could be regulated by adjusting the valves; however, the heating program seemed to have no clear logic to it, so we were getting up in the middle of the night to turn the radiators down. There were only empty hand‑wash containers in the kitchen and bathroom, as well as no washing‑up liquid in the kitchen. If it had been made clear in the advertising that we needed to provide these items, along with the fact that the road noise is very loud, it would have given us a better choice. None of the plug sockets worked in the top double bedroom. Cleaning was generally not bad except for the two showers. We took photos of these before we cleaned them; they were the worst I have seen, and this same problem was reported in Nov 24. The plug in the bathroom sink would not retain water. It seems to me that earlier reviews have not been acted upon. In all honesty, I don’t think I could recommend this property other than the fact that the beds were very comfortable.
