  • "This cottage was not very inviting, and the outside seating area was neglected."

There was no Welcome Pack - not even a pint of milk! The shower over the bath was a bit tricky as there was no slip-mat. The approach to the cottage was up a long steep and very narrow lane. In summary this cottage was a bit disappointing.

  • "Lovely property."

The views from the lounge and kitchen window are so beautiful. The location is perfect for visiting places of interest . The children enjoyed seeing the chickens and ducks in the garden and the very naughty sheep tucking into the owners flowers !

  • "Cottage is in an amazing location, with great views."

The house had everything we needed for our stay. The driveway is a bit tricky to get onto because of the steep lane outside, its best to drive down the lane and reverse on to drive. Garden has some low walls, so not quite secure for dogs that like to explore, also if your dog is reactive to birds including chickens, check garden before allowing dogs out, as next door has chickens that come in to to the garden. The double bed is not comfortable and we ended up sleeping on the 2 single beds which were a bit better. Not all the pillows had pillow protectors on them. The water pressure in the shower is really low and was more of a trickle. The lane is very narrow and steep in areas, and wouldn't advise walking down it to the pub day or night, oh and it's more like a 15 minute down and 30 minutes back. Like I said, fantastic location and great views

  • "Great property, quiet and secluded with fabulous views, lots of walks from the doorstep."

Just half a mile from the local Aldi and a pub. All bedrooms on ground floor and there is a half door at the top of the stairs so we were able to keep the dogs with us at all times. Lovely and spacious, with well equipped kitchen and large living/dining room. We loved our break here and would definitely book to come again.

  • "We had a fantastic stay here, the property is beautiful and incredibly comfortable."

Facilities were fantastic and far beyond what we expected. The listing also doesn't do the views justice. The property is perfectly placed for walking in the peaks, you can walk along footpaths to Kinder Scout and Mam Tour without the need for your car. The owners were great to book with, easily contactable and made everything very clear. Will definitely be booking this property again.

Nice quiet rural location with great views from lounge . Can’t fault the cottage at all. I liked the walk down the lane into chapel where we particularly liked REM’s cafe/bar and the old cell inn which has a good chippy opposite. We also used king 2 Chinese , the Indian takeaway which will deliver and the kebab shop. All good . Also great walks from cottage door and others a short drive away

  • "Lovely cottage with amazing views from the upstairs lounge and kitchen."

We were a family of 6, 5 adults 1 child and it did not feel crowded. Kitchen had everything that was needed, if I were to be picky. a minor issue was the absence of wooden spoons for stirring when cooking. We loved our holiday in the beautiful Peak District and would not hesitate in returning to this cottage if we came this way again.

  • "The cottage is in a very convenient location, close to an Aldi and a pub and was really clean and comfortable."

The garden where the dog is allowed is quite small and really only big enough for the dog to do its business. You also have to drive about 10 minutes to find somewhere where you can let your dog off the lead as the surrounding fields have sheep or cattle in. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay.

The scenery from the cottage was amazing, and Paula and Graeme are lovely hard working hosts. Loved it and will definitely go back when we next holiday in the area. Very good base to get to main road to take you anywhere in the Peak District. Easy to find, with a decent pub serving good food and drink, 15 minutes walking distance away, although be careful crossing the A6. All in all, a really nice cottage, with great views. Thank you Paula and Graeme.

The children were fascinated by the chickens and enjoyed being able to see the sheep being herded from our vantage point. Even though we were only really 5 minutes from the town, it felt like we were deep in the countryside. Everything was beautifully clean and our hosts, Graham and Paula, were welcoming, responsive and helpful. Definitely recommended for others. One small request - a cheese grater would be a welcome addition to the kitchen!
