  • "A lovely 'upside down property."

A great idea as it gives excellent views from the living room and kitchen on the upper level. The property is comfortable, warm, spacious with all facilities we needed. It is located down a very narrow lane with only a handfull of neighbours so nice and quiet. Access into the parking area is tight although manageable. Only about a mile from Chapel En Le Frith and a short drive to Castleton or even Buxton. We very much enjoyed our stay even though the weather was initially very wet.

The inverted layout really works. All the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Access was via a narrow lane but as there was virtually no traffic, it wasn’t a problem.

  • "Just back from a week at this lovely cottage."

Comfortable and ideal for our needs - 2 adults and a dog, walking daily in the Peak District. The views are wonderful. The upside down arrangement allows you to relax in the evening watching fabulous sunsets! The downstairs is carpeted, so you need to ensure you clean and dry you dog thoroughly before entering, but with only one with us that wasn't an issue. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, bed linen was clean and crisp. The driveway is tight if you have a large vehicle (we drive a large van), and entrance is from a narrow and steep lane, but we managed - if you want rural then this is almost expected from our experience.

There were four of us there and we never felt squeezed. There are adequate facilities all that you'd expect is there. The only downside really that we found was the bathroom door that is rather noisy when opening and closing which was a little annoying for a light sleeper among us when someone was using the toilet in the night. Still a lovely property that we would gladly come back to and we actually might next year as there is plenty to discover in the local area and we barely scratched the surface.

Cleanliness was good in general but when searching for a pair of head phones we had to move the bed to look underneath. An old pair of socks where there with other bits and fluff, it hadn’t been hoovered for a while. Draw on kitchen table was full of crumbs and food bits, most are easy fixes as other than that it was ideal for 6 guys to use as a base to walk and explore the local area .

It was a shame the week we stayed was rather wet as it would have been lovely to sit out in the garden. The first floor living room and kitchen work really well and are very comfortable. Kitchen is well-provisioned. You can do as much or as little cooking/variety of cooking as you wish. We would very happily book again. First time to Peak District and loved it.

These are only mentioned as information to the owner for repairs. It did not in any way affect our holiday. The views and cottage are really nice and the owner is close for any problems but not at all intrusive. The only way this could be improved in my opinion is to provide a welcome pack of the basics. Just some maintance issues and a few upgrades. Dip in the floor in the kitchen under the vinyl, loose board?.Adding a mixing bowl and some tongs to the kitchen tool kit. Some outside lighting would make the house more accessible .We arrived in the early evening and with no light pollution it was very dark ,we had a torch but if the property had a PIR light facing the parking area and one facing the side garden it would make unloading the car and gaining access to the property alot eaiser . Now the property is nicely placed on a quiet lane only half a mile from Aldi and easier access to the road networks to go exploring.Great walks near by and large towns like glossop and buxton only a short drive away.We had a great time with the kids and dogs and would return to the area again. • "Cottage is in an amazing location, with great views."

The house had everything we needed for our stay. The driveway is a bit tricky to get onto because of the steep lane outside, its best to drive down the lane and reverse on to drive. Garden has some low walls, so not quite secure for dogs that like to explore, also if your dog is reactive to birds including chickens, check garden before allowing dogs out, as next door has chickens that come in to to the garden. The double bed is not comfortable and we ended up sleeping on the 2 single beds which were a bit better. Not all the pillows had pillow protectors on them. The water pressure in the shower is really low and was more of a trickle. The lane is very narrow and steep in areas, and wouldn't advise walking down it to the pub day or night, oh and it's more like a 15 minute down and 30 minutes back. Like I said, fantastic location and great views
