Lapwing

The cottage is finished to a very high standard.

It was perhaps a little more rural than we expected but so peaceful. There is no O2 mobile signal but good WiFi. Plenty of parking. The peacock family were an added attraction.

A Beautifull place nice and cosy and warm, far exceeded our expectations it was so peaceful and relaxing!

Great idea to make both bedrooms with an en suite too. The kitchen area was great for cooking meals and the dishwasher was an added bonus! The shared outdoor area was great and the views were amazing! You get the feeling of being right in the middle of the coutryside with a lovely village close by with a great walkers pub for drinks and evening meals, a great fish and chip shop and a lovely friendly local store with everything you need for breakfast and evening meals all within a mile away that you can walk to aswel. There are some Some great walks around and lots of great places to see. There is a great visitors file in the cottage that has all the local walks laid out with all the history for you and places to visit so you dont even have to search yourself. I highly reccomend this place and i would definitely go back there again.

Our second stay at Lapwing.

Beautiful setting and only a short walk to the pub which does amazing food. Sofas not particularly comfortable but we weren’t in the cottage that much.

Very pleased with accommodation which was recommended by friends.

Convenient location for visiting all around the Peak District.

An excellent place to stay whilst visiting Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Very quiet, comfortable and well appointed cottage on a working farm. Lovely views of surrounding countryside,

Accommodation was clean, had lovely views of countryside and had all the cooking equipment that we needed.

The bedding was far too warm for summer and the bedroom doors were difficult to prop open to allow air through the property. We enjoyed using the outdoor area, but this is a shared area & we were lucky no one from the other properties used it. This would be a great property for a group of friends or family members to use as 3 cottages share the large outdoor space.

Beautiful location, perfect for dogs.

Spacious accommodation with plenty of extras to make your stay easier. Parking is easy with lots of spaces. Outdoor seating is plentiful and comfy. Very clean. Lots of crockery and cutlery.

The cottage was in a beautiful spot and was very peaceful.

It was nice to be able to walk to the local pub that was friendly, cosy and served delicious food. I would be inclined to agree with a previous review in that the sofas were really uncomfortable which was a real shame when wanting to relax in the evening. We found the bed and the shower a tad bijoux too!

Lovely peaceful spot.

Well equipped cottage.

Lapwing is a lovely property situated in a fantastic location with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

It is close to a lovely village with an excellent pub/restaurant and small shop. It is also a relatively short drive to Buxton for supermarkets and restaurants. The property is freshly decorated and clean with most of the comforts you require for your holiday. However I have marked it down on comfort as I found the sofas in the lounge very uncomfortable to sit on and both the mattresses on the beds uncomfortable and I would consider require replacing. I have also marked it down on facilities and maintenance for the following reasons - 1) The extractor fans in both bathrooms did not work. 2) The underfloor heating in one of the bathrooms did not work 3) Only 5 coathangers in the wardrobe, also the wardrobe doors did not shut properly. 4) There were plenty of plates, dishes, cups, knives forks etc however only about 6 teaspoons and not many glasses (most of which were not matching) 5) The TV is relatively old and difficult to operate due to the old controller. I would expect a 5* property to have a more modern and larger TV. We have a great holiday in the property, however to get a 5* score I would expect the above 5 items to be resolved.

Lapwing is a beautiful barn conversion.

We have stayed here 3 or 4 times now. It has everything you need. The cottage was spotlessly clean on our arrival, credit to whoever cleans it. The lounge area was also decorated for Christmas and looked lovely. The views are stunning and it is so peaceful. We love that you can walk to the small village of Longnor Also Hartington about 6 miles away is also a great place for a walk around. Unfortunately we had to leave 3 days early due to a medical emergency, but I’m sure we will return.

Outstanding!

Attention to detail and thoughtfulness is amazing. The cottage is spotless and the most comfortable cottage we have stayed in. The parking area and outside are all lit up for if you arrive in the dark and to have both bedrooms en suite is a bonus. The views are amazing and the cottage is central for visiting Derbyshire. Dod friendly and there is even bike storage boot and dog wash. We will definitely return.

We have stayed in various different cottages at Upper Whittle Farm and they are all very nice and the views are spectacular.

Exceptional cottage with wonderful views.

Lapwing was warm & well equipped for our needs.Hosts were on hand with any queries we had.Resident peacocks were a delight I would recommend anyone to visit this area.

Cottage was just as described.

Location was so central for all we wanted to see. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and all spotlessly clean. The views from the cottage were to die for.

Lapwing Cottage was very comfortable, very clean and had everything we needed for a lovely stay.

The local pub offers great food. A perfect place as a base to explore the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend and want to go and stop again.

This was a perfect cottage with fabulous views and was very comfortable.

It was a great base from which to walk the Peak Pilgrimage path and for walking this area in general.

Cottage was beautifully clean and spacious with everything you would ever need, like a home from home.

Walking distance from a pub that served lovely food. Would definitely recommend to others.

Beautiful cottage and stunning surroundings.

Justin was about when we arrived and was very friendly and helpful. The cottage had everything you might need whilst there. We loved the resident peacock's, ducks and geese. Excellent base for exploring the local area and nearby bigger towns etc. Would highly recommend and we are already thinking about coming back again, but for longer next time.

This was surely one of the top cottages we have ever had for a holiday.

Beautiful views. Well equipped and to the highest standard. There is no washing machine, but the kind and helpful owners have a laundry room and providing it is not on a ' changeover day' they are happy for guests to use it. Area is stunning, and some fine dining pubs. Great for walks and the trails (former railways tracks) are easy walking and cycling for 'oldies'.Will definitely visit again, and can strongly recommend. Nicholas

A beautiful property in a stunning location.

We spent a few relaxing days here with the added bonus of seeing some great wildlife.

Absolutely superb property , everything you could ask for and in a perfect location for the Peak District , with some stunning views to add ….

Superb location with fantastic views, very well equipped with well thought out fixtures and decor, very relaxing and comfortable holiday, would definitely recommend and hope to have a return visit in the future.

The place was comfortable and well equipped.

There were only 2 of us in a 4 person rental so it felt very spacious but I imagine would work well for two couples, especially with the en suite bathrooms to each bedroom. We enjoyed being able to walk from Lapwing Cottage without using the car throughout our 3 night stay. It is a very peaceful setting and although we had neighbours we were not aware of them. Our only negative point was the heavy closers on all the doors which we guessed were for fire regulations but felt totally over the top. We have never experienced this anywhere else except in hotels. I would certainly recommend it as a place to stay.

Excellent cottage, cant fault it.

Second time here.clean, well equiped, everything works. Only negative is no-one contacts you during your stay to make sure everything is ok and to answer any queries, which would be useful for first timers.there are contact numbers but a personal greeting would be nice.

Fabulous.

The best barn conversion we have stayed in and lovely views. Being able to walk from the cottage is a bonus.

The property was extremely clean from the kitchen to the bathrooms and the bedding and towels.

Beautiful cosy lounge and lovely bedrooms. Beds were very comfortable and the showers were powerful. From the moment we stepped through the front door it was so lovely and warm and welcoming. The only very small criticism was that the television was too high on the wall, could of done with being a bit lower. We had the best time and the cottage added to that is was beautiful.

Had a very enjoyable time at Lapwing.

Wonderful setting,views outstanding.Well equipped kitchen.Thankyou.

It was one of the best holiday I have had for a long time the area were it is was so beautiful and lot of very good walks and cycling roots to do I will be coming back next year all being well so thank you for letting us come look forward to my next holiday with you next year many thanks Derek lee

Fantastic holiday cottage in a beautiful location.

Well appointed with very cosy underfloor heating. We had a lovely stay and the views were superb, would definitely return.

We had a lovely stay.

Beautiful surroundings. Went on hikes and visited nearby villages of Matlock Bath, Hartington and Cromford. Was nice to return after a day out to the warmth and coziness of the cottage. Was an added bonus to be able to bring our dog along. Loved every minute of our stay. Everything was well organized and owner was very friendly and accommodating when we called with a few questions and request.

A really lovely property, a perfect stay

A lovely cosy cottage with great views.

The cottage was clean and had everything we needed for a week stay. Plenty of off road parking and 3 visitors to greet us a wonderful family of peacocks (mum, dad and bubba). The location was perfect for the walks and places we visited. Perfect accommodation for a family of 3.

Lapwing cottage was excellent we had everything we needed, the views were stunning from the cottage.

The only problem we had was getting on to the main road from the farm lane it is impossible to see if any vehicle is coming up the hill when you pull out on to the main road. The local council transport department should be approached to put a mirror on the main road so vehicles on the farm road can see if any vehicle are coming up the hill.

We very much enjoyed our 3 night stay in Lapwing Cottage with our son and his girlfriend in this lovely barn conversion with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

With walks straight from the door and two pubs and a shop also within walking distance (about a mile) it was well placed for exploring this quieter part of the Peak District. Bakewell and Buxton are within a 20 minute drive. We hope to visit again soon.

A superb cottage in lovely countryside with great views.

A perfect setting for our long weekend away - the views are some of the best we have ever experienced

Lovely cottage in a superb location, couldn't fault it.

We have never rented a holiday cottage before and always gone to caravans, but if all Sykes cottages are as good as this one, we won't be using caravans anymore.

Excellent cosy cottage with everything needed for a short or long break.

Very clean and tidy in a good location for exploring the peak district.beautiful views from the cottage and the outside patio area. Would highly recommend and definitely return.

A lovely hide away set in a beautiful location.

Good level of facilities and a brilliant view from the outside seating. Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay at Lapwing.

The area was beautiful and the accommodation was stunning. We loved our 4 nights there and hopefully will be back at some point in the future.

The Lapwing cottage is a real gem with many amenities close by.

Perfectly situated to access all the wonderful walks the Peak District has to offer.

We had a wonderful week.

The cottage was very cosy, and ideally situated for visiting all the areas we wanted to. The 2 en suite bedrooms suited our needs perfectly. The views from the cottage were incredible.

Well equipped excellent heating cosy and comfortable.

Comfortable beds Lovely views. Very nice stay.

Had another lovely week even though weather was against us.

Been coming here for years and always had a lovely time. Cottage is cosy comfortable and warm . Thanks Justin and Julie and see you next year xx

we love coming to lapwing we come every year its so peaceful lots of lovely walks and have friends in crowdecote the house is always warm and welcoming every thing we need.

thank you justin and julie

We loved our time at the cottage, it served as a fantastic base for exploring the Peak District, the beds were really comfortable and it was clean and warm and had everything we needed.

We came to escape the fireworks and succeeded

Absolute pleasure to stay in this cottage, can’t rate it highly enough.

Everything you needed was provided.

Lovely place, stunning views, quiet, friendly hosts.

Would return

Fantastic property, absolutely loved our stay.

Couldn't fault lapwing at all. Thank you. See you again.

A really lovely cottage with a breathtaking view.

Everything you could wish for was supplied. A great base for days out. I would certainly not hesitate in recommending a stay here.

We had a lovely week in Lapwing.

The cottage was spotless and so well equipped Views from the seating area and bedrooms were fantastic and the surrounding countryside was great to explore. Such a lot to do within not too many miles - the Monsal trail for a bike ride, the Manifold trail for a walk, Buxton and Bakewell to wander around There were walks from Longnor (local village) and also from the cottage. Beautiful - we would certainly think about returning.

lovely cottage in a lovely setting.

Cottage was well maintained and had everything we needed. problem with router when we arrived but was fine and sorted during the week, no owners fault as it was due to a storm the week before. Would love to return to the cottage in the future.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Lapwing, comfortable and clean accommodation with everything we needed.

Very quiet location and easy access to different parts of the Peak district.

We would definitely recommend Lapwing.

Beautifully renovated, very comfortable, well equipped and in a fabulous location. What more could you want from a holiday property.

Quiet location with a cottage to relax in after a days walking.

Good location to explore the area with many walks direct from the doorstep. Would look at returning to explore the area more.

Everything was beautifully set out with lovely views.

The cottage was well thought out and clean. Could find no fault.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, cosy and welcoming.

. Immaculate, well equipped and the Pet basket is a lovely touch

great cottage, comfortable and warm with brilliant views and a nice walk across the fields to the nearest pub

Lovely little cottage, tucked away & secluded, with beautiful views.

Perfect for what we wanted! The cottage was warm, comfortable & well equipped. Short drive away from main tourist attractions & locations in the Peak District, but several walks from Longnor itself. The local pub was great, we would definitely go there again for a nice meal out. We really enjoyed sitting out in the evenings looking up at the stars from the patio area. Would definitely recommend & be back again!

We had a great time again (our second stay) and will probably be back!

The cottage is warm, clean & well- equipped. Thank you!

Excellent and thanks for the Xmas decorations too.

Lovely cottage, cosy, clean and so well equipped.

Everything was thought of!! Spectacular views from all round. Would definatly recommend.

First class accommodation, comfortable and warm, was hard to decide whether to take the many beautiful walks or just to stay in and enjoy being there!

!

It would be really helpful if there was a laundry facility in Lapwing, or the cottage complex as a whole.

If you were to stay for 2 weeks laundry would become a concern. The current bicycle shed could perhaps be made into a communal facility. Other than this the cottage is very well equipped and maintained.

Excellent property in a beautiful setting.

Although the beds were quite small we had a very pleasant stay at this cottage.

It was our second time we rented this property. Cottage is clean and cosy. The views are stunning.

A very well appointed and comfortable cottage set in a stunning location with access to a wealth of interesting villages, stately homes, etc The owners who live close by were extremely friendly and owned a pub not too far away which served amazing food.

The property was clean and well furnished.

The views from the property were exceptional however, the location was a little remote from the village for my elderly mother with health issues. I should have researched the property more closely, but it would be helpful if the website could advise on the suitability a bit more clearly.

We can only say that everything was exactly as we imagined: clean, warm and everything set up.

Fully equipped kitchen, very welcoming living room, chic bedrooms, clean bathrooms, garden with a wonderful view, very warm cottage due to the heat under the floor, I can say that everything was great and whenever we have the opportunity we will return to these wonderful places! Thank you Lapwing, thank you Sykes Cottages! See you soon!

We are hill walkers and had expected laundry facilities even if only shared.

But helpful to have outside tap from washing boots. Would have liked a couple of Pyrex dishes in kitchen and better side lamps in kitchen. The toaster stopped working the day before we left......bread would not stay down in toaster. Also the cord of over sink light in onew bathroom was missing so this could not be switched on.

Another fantastic week at Lapwing.

Thanks Justin & Julie see you in December when staying in Kestrel for first time. Highly recommend for a brilliant holiday.

Plenty of parking and beautiful views.

Although it said cottage, the picture shows stairs on outside so we thought it would be all on the ground floor. Loved it but Longnor very disappointing. Downstairs fire door was a hazard with a teeny chihuahua

What a lovely cottage and I will definitely be back sometime.

So peaceful and such beautiful scenery.

Friendly host ,very high specification , lovely setting.

Near to many interesting towns and heritage .

Lapwing was a lovely warm and very comfortable cottage in a gorgeous location.

It was tastefully decorated and was very well equipped. We would love to come back when the weather is better as we had 2 days of mist and fog but we still very much enjoyed it!

Lapwing is a beautiful place,in a lovely part of the Peak district.

would definately recommend your cottage.

Wonderful cottage.

Beautifully decorated for Christmas too. Cottage had everything you could need. We have just booked again for Christmas 2022. Out of all cottages and lodges we have been to, this is the best one. Thank you.

An excellent cottage finished to a high standard.

Plenty of cutlery, cups, plates etc. All very clean. Underfloor heating kept the cottage warm and cosy as we watched the snow falling outside. Hosts were very attentive and professional to look after us. Stunning views and walks from the cottage. Would highly recommend.

Lovely friendly hosts, fabulous well equipped cottage with amazing views….

weather was appalling but that can’t be ordered….recommend for sure

A very clean, comfortable, well-appointed character cottage situated in a remote Peak District location with superb views but with amenities within a mile in Longnor Village.

We spent a week in late-Autumn and found plenty to do and places to visit daily within the constraints of early sunsets. In addition, a great base for walking and cycling, with facilities provided for these activities. There are plenty of local Pubs including the Church Inn, Chelmorton, 4 miles away, of which provides great food, beers and ciders, and of which the cottage owner is the Publican. There are 4 cottages in this location, any of which I would highly recommend. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

A beautiful cottage in the most stunning setting.

Comfortable with everything you could need - we had a fabulous holiday and the owner went above and beyond - thank you

A washing machine would have been an added bonus but otherwise we loved this property .

Thank you

Another wonderful week at Lapwing.

Booked again for March which will be about our fifth visit. Thanks Justin and Julie x

Another most enjoyable week in Lapwing.

A really comfortable cottage, warm and cosy and well equipped. An excellent situation well placed for easy access to the whole of the White Peak. Longnor the local village has shops, pubs and an excellent fish and chip shop. The only minor negative, the lack of a washing machine may be an inconvenience on a stay longer than a week.

The cottage was superb in a wonderful location.

Just what we needed after what has been a challenging year for everyone. Thank you

Beautiful home away from home cottage in a spectacular location.

Fantastic cottage with beautiful views and local walks from all directions.

The cottage was warm and cosy and everything we needed was provided for. One thing missing was a small peeling knife but we managed without. Longnor is a nice village with a great pub and good food. The cottage was very quiet and we all had a great nights sleep. One of the best cottages we have stayed in and would return.

Lovely cottage outstanding views attentive and friendly owners very well equipped cottage.

A bit more remote than we realised but stunningly peacefull and a great holiday

Beautiful cottage with outstanding views!

Enjoyed our yearly visit to the Peak District and have no doubt we will be returning to this delightful gem of a cottage.

wonderful

Extremely comfortable beds.

The cottage was very well equipped with beautiful views and surroundings.

A very enjoyable week at Lapwing.

The cottage is in a perfect location for visiting places in the Peak District and the scenery is stunning. The cottage was spotless and very well equipped. The village is a half an hour pleasant stroll down country lanes and there is a shop, pub, tea room and chip shop there. We have already recommended the cottage to family and would definitely stay again.

As with all Sykes Cottages we have used, another Out of the way location, quite and peaceful, cosy and warm just what we wanted for a few days away.

We would recommend Lapwing to anyone.

Beautiful cottage, very well equipped - thought the dog basket was a nice touch.

The cottage has stunning views. Great location for walking. Will definitely be back!

Very clean and comfortable cottage with everything thought about.

The owners were very friendly. The view from the cottage absolutely stunning and a great location for visiting the national park. Would definitely return.

This is such a lovely cottage, spacious enough for 4 adults with the benefit of 2 en-suites.

It feels wonderfully remote with lots of walks on the doorstep but is only 1 mile from the village with all amenities catered for. We are not dog owners. However, we were looking after a sick relative’s dog so had to find pet friendly accommodation. You would never know pets regularly stay at Lapwing, it was spotless and the doggie basket was very welcome. I would not hesitate to stay here again ( dog free).

A stunning and peaceful location.

Welcoming owners who also run a pub with excellent food. Plenty of places to visit and for us older cyclists off road cycle trails with amazing views to enjoy.

We had a lovely last minute stay here at lapwing cottage.

Cottage was fully functional and had a definite home from home feeling. The surroundings were amazing so peaceful and the views were breathtaking. The cottage itself was immaculate and outside was also immaculately kept. Lovely tables and chairs for you to sit and drink morning tea and evening wine and take in the views!! We walked into the local town longnor had breakfast at the cobbles cafe. We had an excellent meal at the merchant in the village. We also walked through the fields to the packhorse inn again a lovely Cosy pub! We also visited the lovely church inn to the food was amazing real home cooked food. We will definitely be back soon.

I arrived for a two night stay and I was really impressed with 1.

The cottage - Beautifully designed. I like that the lounge was separate from the kitchen/ diner. Both the downstairs rooms were bigger than I expected. Bedrooms- the mattress felt like it was new and of really good quality. If you like beams you’ll love this cottage, very tastefully done. Also the fact that the bathroom was connected directly to each bedroom was a good idea for two couples. 2. The views were great, it’s less than a 20 minute walk to Longnor so a gentle first walk to explore the area. It’s a small town so I wasn’t long but with the 4pm entry to the cottage it was preferable to a longer walk by the time I’d unpacked. I’d brought more bags than for a holiday abroad...what with throws/pillows in Covid times! I don’t think it’s mandatory, but I chose to. 3. The fact that it’s a remote location but set with the other cottages was good if you don’t want a place which is completely on it’s own. There were lots of places I looked at before choosing this cottage. Many looked like they smelt of wet dog but this place looked and was a home from home. Had there have been more nights available I’d have stayed longer. As a last minute booking though, I struck lucky and I’d definitely stay again (but for longer next time). The only thing I’d have liked to know was to bring kitchen roll and kitchen surface spray. I didn’t see any there. The majority of items were already there i.e. washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets even hand washing dispenser (I brought these with me and didn’t need to). So with bringing so many items it’s good to streamline. Very minor in the scheme of things. Overall very impressed and I highly recommend (just leave me room for my booking) :)

Well presented, and clean.

A very cosy place to stay surrounded by the beautiful countryside. The dog basket was a lovely idea with everything you need if you’re taking a dog away with you. Will definitely be revisiting Lapwing!

Lovely location - great local walks.

Lapwing is the perfect cottage in a lovely setting.

I have already booked my holiday there for next year.

Another lovely week at a Lapwing although the weather was not good.

Cottage is lovely and warm so ideal for a break in the winter. Great holiday as always.

Lapwing was truly a home from home for a week away at Christmas.

Complete with 3 mini Christmas trees we were cosy and festive and quickly relaxed! Superbly appointed throughout, this was our first experience of a Sykes cottage and it won’t be our last!! We’ve already booked a trip away for 2020. The Peaks, rain or shine is a stunning area to visit and the view from my bedroom window every morning was glorious. There’s plenty to do locally and some fabulous eateries in the vicinity. All in all a great Christmas getaway and we’re itching to get planning for another Christmas getaway in 2020.

Fab place, plenty of parking, nice and warm.

Had everything we needed and fantastic views.

Lovely well equipped accommodation in beautiful setting.

Lovely and clean when we arrived although a little cold and we struggled to understand the heating, instructions would be useful. So nice to have some supplies left for us too, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. Our sat nav took us to the fork in the road with no more directions so we did struggle to locate the farm, even the written details didn’t say to take the right hand at the fork. Overall fab few days away, many thanks

The process of booking was straight forward and completed quickly.

The premises in real life were better than could have been estimated by reviewing the pictures on line. Well equipped premises and good facilities and adequate parking.

Well equipped and furnished cottage in scenic location and close to local amenities .

Ideally located to visit Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock, Dovedale and Castleton to name but a few.

Peaceful getaway to recharge the batteries!

Dog loved it!

Absolutely loved the cottage, so peaceful and the views were fantastic.

Very well decorated and they thought of everything including a lovely cup of tea and biscuits on arrival after a long drive. The facilities included every thing we needed, although a washing machine /dryer, or access to one, would have made this a perfect location. We had a clothes horse supplied which helped with the wet walking clothes. Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone who loves walking. Also very dog friendly so we all had a great time.

We had a really enjoyable week staying here.

The owner is very helpful and friendly and has decorated and furnished the cottage to a very high standard. The location is beautiful with amazing views. The cottage is well equiped, I enjoy cooking and made good use of the kitchen and BBQ. The property also has a strong wifi signal and fast internet which was great as unfortunately I had to do a bit of work while I was there. I would thoroughly recommend this property.

The Cottage is in a nice quiet setting with a vista that changes with the weather.

Off the beaten track, though near enough to local towns for supplies. Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock Bath are nice to visit for the gifts. There are a number of local places to eat and the cottage has a information pack to help. There are some nice walks, Dovedale to Milldale is a beautiful, though popular. Lumsdale Falls are historically interesting and worth the climb back up! There are a number of National Trust properties to visit within easy reach.

Whilst the accommodation is compact especially the bathrooms I think the availability of a clothes washer would be an advantage as most cottages now have one available.

Also information on walks would be helpful in the cottage plus menus of local places to eat as WiFi can be problematic.

The cottage was beautiful, stunning views, fully equipped, modern & clean!

The owners were lovely - couldn’t recommend enough. I will definitely be re-booking hopefully the weather will be kinder next time! :)

The holiday at Lapwing Cottage really was exceptional.

The barn conversion was to a very high standard and the accommodation comfortable and well equipped. The location exceeded expectations, being situated high up with spectacular views, which could be enjoyed from a sheltered patio area to the rear of the cottage. Observing kestrels in the wild from the patio was very special and made our time at Upper Whittle Farm even more memorable.

Third time visiting Lapwing and again had a lovely time.

Will be booking again for next year.

Lapwing is a really beautiful cottage which is very well equipped and very comfortable.

The views from the cottage and the garden are spectacular. The garden has nice garden furnitire which makes sitting in the garden a pleasure. The village of Longnor nearby has a great restaurant and fish and chip shop. There are also some nice walks in and around Longnor and Sheen which are both walkable from Lapwing. Really great place to stay, thank you.

Lapwing was a beautiful, rural cottage with some lovely features and stunning views.

It was warm, comfortable and well equipped, and we would love to return one day.

Lapwings was just the job for 2 couples, mainly due to 2 very comfortable ensuite bedrooms.

Cosy lounge and kitchen/diner. Only thing that we would have missed is an open fire or woodburner, but there was an electric fire, which we didn't need as we were blessed with fabulous weather! Lapwings also was beautifully decorated with Amazon window ledges - a fantastic conversion of an old cowshed with amazing views. Just loved it there.

It was amazing we lived the cottage thank you it was like a mini castle

The Cottage is Beautiful, I especially loved the little windows in the kitchen and the living room which have been kept from the original features.

.... stunning! The views from the property are beautiful ( even with the rain) The owners are very welcoming and on hand if you have any issues but are by no means intrusive and are happy to let you come and go when you please. you can walk straight from the cottage to the local villages of Longnor and Sheen or alternatively places like Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne are within a short driving distance. we would definitely recommend theses cottages to our family and friends.

The holiday cottage was kitted out and had all the essentials.

Unfortunately the heating didn’t work, and we were very cold, the owners did move us from there skylark cottage to the lapwing cottage. This was warmer but still not in every room, I felt the owners have an excuse for everything and when complain about the heating there first comment was always ‘well it’s all on the same heating system and our house is warm’. There is obviously a fault with the system as one side of the room would be hot but the other would be cold. There was also an air lock in the system somewhere as the air hammer kept making a knocking noise through the walls. Also the water was sometimes non existent or no hot water would come though the tap. The place was very clean, and well presented. The cottage offered beautiful views and was working 20 minutes of Buxton and 30 minutes Bakewell. It’s close to the village which has a fish and chip shop and local store for the little bits you missed when shopping.

A lovely cottage, with amazing views great pubs nearby.

Perfect base for exploring the Peak District, we all loved our time at the cottage and hope to return.

Beautiful cottage, beautiful view out of the cottage.

Felt like home from home. We really enjoyed our relaxing week away and will definitely be returning.

The views were amazing and the location was ideal.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. Would not go there in the summer though as it is a communal garden and when we were there was taken over by the other occupiers of the other cottages. Being Sept was not a big issue but not ideal for summer.

A very comfortable short stay at this wonderful location.

.. views spectacular and accommodation very suitable for our needs. Would certainly promote this cottage if you looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday.

Great holiday owners have finished this accommodation perfectly and we all enjoyed our stay at Lapwings, we loved the Kestrel nesting nearby and the seeing the nearby livestock on approach.

Bedrooms where very comfortable and would highly recommend a stay here for a great holiday in the peak district

Lapwing made an ideal base for our week in The Peaks.

It is set a little out of Longnor and has wonderful views across the Dove valley. The cottage has been thoughtfully put together. It has everything you could want in a modern but comfortable way. It was lovely to come back in after a cold wet day out to be able to sit in the comfortable, warm sitting room. The bedrooms were fine - a comfy bed, plenty of covers and good shower room. We cooked a number of meals and missed for nothing. Everything on arrival was in place and the cottage smelt fresh and was spotlessly clean. The outside area was attractive and if the weather had been kinder it would have been lovely to sit outside with a book, a glass of something and soak up the peace and quiet and the view. But ... !A great location with plentiful walks, places of interest and local pubs serving tasty home cooked food. Would we go again ... absolutely.

Fantastic cottage, well equipped and lovely location to have a proper get away!

Even better if you get snowed in!

The accommodation was very well furnished and decorated, very modern, very comfortable.

Comfortable beds, under-floor heating which kept every room warm and cosy, spacious dining kitchen equipped with everything you need, modern bathrooms, TV, wifi, dvd’s. Really impressed with everything.

Most beautiful cottage best stayed in.

Location just perfect and plenty of things to do. Will definitely return next year didn't want to leave.

The location was fantastic, the views absolutely stunning and the cottage was perfect.

We had the most lovely week in the Peak District.

It was up to the standard we expected and in a nice location.
