This is a wonderful place to stay the owners really supply everything you could want, the cottage is so comfy this was our 3rd visit and will definitely be back again.

The location is great to visit so many attractions. A big thank you to the owners you make this holiday one we always look forward to.

Wonderful week at Woodlands.

Had everything we needed and more. A real home from home. Very close to places like Bakewell and Buxton. Being asked to feed the fish was a first. Not a problem at all though. Harriet, the owner, was lovely and easily contactable. Highly recommend Woodlands and would definitely look to go back next time we go to the Peak District.

Woodlands is the perfect place to stay in Derbyshire!

We had an absolutely wonderful week in this lovely cottage. Harriet has made it very welcoming with everything we needed. The cottage is very spacious and every room is beautifully decorated. There is plenty of outside space with several different seating areas in the pretty garden. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious home baking and the welcome basket provided, many thanks. We are hoping to return soon.

Lovely clean and welcoming cottage.

Well equipped and welcome pack exceeded expectations. The owner was lovely, very friendly and concerned that we had everything we needed. Would certainly return and also recommend to others. Our granddaughter loved being allowed to feed the fish in the safely fenced pond in garden. Overall a great week and the weather was marvellous.

Easy to find, park and unload - two steps from parking place to ground floor of house.

The house was clean and well appointed especially the kitchen. There was always hot water - cannot comment on heating since we stayed during a heat wave. There was plenty of storage space. There were two patios which we could use depending on the time of day. Quiet neighborhood. Only downside was that the upstairs - main bedroom and a bathroom, was very hot during the heat wave and we slept downstairs in the smaller double bedroom room. 3 pubs in villages (Darley Dale and Two Dales - we would recommend the Church Inn. It was quieter and the staff more friendly. Coffee and breakfast available at Joni's opposite the Co-op. Chatsworth very close. Also visited Kedleston Hall and Biddulph Gardens.

Excellent in all respects

Been in many self catering properties over the last 40 years and this is up there with the best.

Lovely furnishings and decor throughout and well designed kitchen and bathrooms. Everything worked, no problems at all and house couldn't have been better presented.

The house had everything you could ask for and more.

The sofas are the most comfortable we have ever stayed in at a Sykes place and bed was so comfy. It was almost like being at home and the kitchen was amazing too. The fish pond was a delight and it was so peaceful and quiet there and would definitely recommend this property to everyone. The owners even left some cakes and biscuits and a bottle of wine on our arrival

Lots of room, very comfortable furniture and so many little extras. The kitchen had so many pots and pans and utensils. The bottle of wine, home made cakes and biscuits plus milk and bottled water were a wonderful welcome pack too. It is in a beautiiful area with so much to see and do. Would highly recommend staying in this excellent holiday home.

We stayed at Woodlands for a weekend break.

The cottage was lovely - really clean, spacious and with excellent facilities. The owner of the cottage was fantastic, ensuring that we knew where everything was and how to operate the heating etc. The welcome pack included homemade cake and biscuits which were delicious and greatly appreciated. I'd certainly book Woodlands again next time we visit the Peak District.

Lovely property, very clean and everything you could possibly need.

The owner was very helpful asking if we needed anything and left a lovely welcome pack - the house is also decorated for Christmas which was a nice surprise. The house is well located for Matlock and Bakewell - buses run regularly if needed, there is a shop, pub and takeaways within walking distance- would definitely recommend staying here.

So much nicer than photos really spacious and definitely a cut above the rest would not hesitate to return.

Wonderful property.

Well appointed - if you needed it, it was there. Very clean, very tidy, yet still felt 'homely'. Situated with easy access to attractions in the Dales. Restaurants, pubs, takeaways all within Darley Dale.

We had a fabulous stay at 'Woodlands'.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and cosy, and all the home from home mod cons were available. We took our bikes, so the lockable shed was a plus too! Also, we were treated to a welcome pack including home baked goodies (shortbread cookies and cupcakes), wine and milk etc- Thank you again Harriet.

This is the most beautiful, clean, relaxing cottage we have ever stayed in.

It’s even nicer than the pictures and Harriet has really gone the extra mile to make it luxurious. She is a great host and very helpful. Also leaves the most delicious welcome pack. If first impressions count then yes from the outside to the inside we were very impressed indeed the kitchen was a Wow factor the lounge beautifully decorated and very clean carpets throughout other than no SKY tv the new LG tv had everything to occupy the evenings the bedrooms once again stylish abs very comfortable the two modern and well looked after bathrooms had instant b hot showers and soft white towels most welcome basket with home made cakes and biscuits and wine and water and milk in the fridge are always a smile maker!

Feeding the carp fish in the beautiful pond and garden full of autumn flowers stunning trees everywhere in an amazing countryside views made Woodlands an excellent choice out thanks again to Harriet best wishes x

Everything was perfect at Woodlands and I enjoyed having my 70th birthday celebrations at this lovely property.

It was the best one we had stayed at through Sykes, just felt like a home and not a holiday let. The accommodation is immaculate, comfortable and spacious. The outside space is great complete with fishpond, very relaxing. We will definitely be returning. Thanks to Harriet for the homemade cake, biscuits and wine.

Woodlands is everything you would wish for in a holiday home - and more.

As a couple we have holidayed in many cottages over 40 years and this one ranks with the best. Exceptionally clean, quiet location but still excellently placed to visit the Derbyshire Dales. The interior is stylishly furnished and the seating and beds are very comfortable. The garden is well stocked, beautiful and well maintained with lots of seating areas. There is ample off road parking. A lovely welcome basket is supplied for guests, including tea, coffee, milk, sugar, wine, water, cakes and biscuits. We would highly recommend this holiday home, the owner should be very proud!

The host was very kind and answered any questions we had We also had a lovely welcoming, a homemade cake, some shortbreads and a couple of bottles of wine and tea and coffee and milk in the fridge, just what we needed after a long journey

This is an excellent choice for a holiday home.

It is a spacious modernised bungalow with a lovely garden which includes a fish pond. The pond is fenced off so no problem for safety. The property itself was spotless with a very high degree of comfort. A home from home! A lovely welcome basket, which included home baked cakes and shortbread, was very much appreciated.. A very good location with proximity to Peak Rail heritage line within walking distance and also near Ecclesbourne Valley Railway at Wirksworth by car. Several good pubs are within walking distance or a very short drive. Lots of walking available locally around Matlock but further afield there is a huge choice of walks with various trails nearby and of course the Peak District National Park.There are 3 National Trust properties fairly near and also Chatsworth and Haddon Hall if interested in stately homes. Matlock Farm Park is very near as well and is excellent value for children. This property is child friendly and is provided with a travel cot, stair gate and high chair. Our little grandaughter loved the house. Would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

The property, furnishings and colour schemes are of high quality and made us feel relaxed and comfortable. The welcome pack was perfection, home made buns, shortbread, milk, wine, tea bags, hot chocolate, coffee and sugar. The nicest we have had! Also the other welcome pack of instruction and local facilities is very thorough, pubs, shops, medical facilities...just amazing and so much thought has been put into this. So thank you Harriet and well done!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Woodlands.

This is a beautiful property, in a fantastic location. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds were super comfy and the home is both luxurious and warm and cosy, as well as having a lovely garden. You are surrounded by breath taking views and wake up to the sound of birdsong and the local sheep. It was all perfect!

A lovely property that is well cared for, with great rural views.

Friendly and helpful owner, who bakes wonderful cakes! Various food shops nearby and we enjoyed the Darley Dale Fish Bar.

We had an amazing time at Woodlands it suited our family perfectly.

It is brilliantly situated and is within 20mins of lots of attractions. We enjoyed heights of Abraham, Matlock illuminations, Matlock farm, chatsworth, tram museum, Bakewell and Alton towers! The house is comfortable and very well equipped. Everything was there we could have needed. I enjoyed doing a jigsaw and my daughter loved feeding the fish. I shared the bunk bed room with my daughter and my only slight issue was a lack of storage and space but luckily the other rooms had tons of storage which I used instead. Otherwise a great stay and we would definitely use the house again if we were in Derbyshire.

This is one of the best places we have stayed for many years.

The cottage is superb nothing you would change it has everything and in a great location. Matlock was lovely and ideal for food shopping. Would highly recommend Bakewell lovely town and had the best pub lunch in the wheatsheaf. We look forward to staying here again next year

Lovely bungalow everything we needed great place to stay to explore The area short drive to Matlock and matlock bath and Bakewell plenty of pubs near by ,very quite area at night lovely to sit in the garden after a day exploring the area .

A very comfortable bungalow which is very well equipped and spotlessly clean.

The one small query we had was quickly dealt with by the owner. It is ideally situated for exploring the Derbyshire Peaks, being within easy driving distance of so many places of varied historical and sightseeing interest. There are also plenty of local walks nearby. We would definitely recommend this as a lovely holiday property.

Woodlands is a lovely modern cottage finished to a very high standard and well equipped.

This lovely holiday property is everything we could wish for.

Clean, comfortable, quiet, well presented and very well equipped. The owner's have thought of everything. We can find no faults. We have stayed twice before and will be returning next year. Darley Dale is a good base for mountain biking and walking with a couple of nice pubs within walking distance. You can easily walk to Matlock and Rowsley using the path that runs along the railway track. Perfect.

After a long drive in heavy traffic it was so lovely to see the welcome pack of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk and dare I say the most delicious cake in the history of cakes.

We have two young kids so the night lights around the cottage were such a blessing. The cottage itself looks recently renovated, clean, tidy and spacious. The garden has a lovely seating area and on cooler days it was good to sit in the conservatory. The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful. There is a small shop and a pub serving food within walking distance. Our kids enjoyed feeding the fish in the garden pond. There is plenty to do in the locality of the cottage. We only spent one week there but there is enough to do for a two week stay.. The owners responded quickly to any contact from us and even kindly made a suggestion for a family day out for us. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Beautiful bungalow in a fantastic location.

We searched for a long time to get a 2+ bedroom property with 2 bathrooms with one of the bedrooms on ground floor so for us this was perfection. Lovely sized rooms, beautiful large kitchen and all so tastefully decorated. Different places to sit outside was a treat and we made full use of them all. There was a welcome hamper too with wine and a lovely homemade cake which was delicious. We felt so at home the moment we walked in, thank you Harriet.

A beautiful and well equipped cottage .

Clean and well maintained. The garden was lovely with the spring flowers out, pity the weather wasn't good enough for us to enjoy it. Harriet the owner left lots of treats which were enjoyed by all. Plus she was very helpful dropping by with a new toaster when we reported the previous one was faulty, and returning our granddaughters lost toy too. Lots of interesting things to do in the area for all age groups. A very enjoyable stay would definitely recommend it.

This was a very comfortable cottage in the kitchen everything you could need for cooking (we did not cook much) .

Beds were very comfortable nice lounge although my husband could not sit on suite as very low as with 2 new knees, spacious and in a perfect central place for visiting all the Peak District. The cake and wine was a lovely touch

Woodlands is a fantastic property to holiday in, being extremely clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable and very well equipped.

We found it a perfect base for a mountain biking holiday with some nice pubs within walking distance and many walks all from the door. It was lovely to be able to feed the fish too. We are hoping to return around the same time next year. Thank you

Really lovely property, with space for us all to spread out - we visited with our children (8 and 10) and in laws.

Well equipped, with everything you might want - including spare blankets for the beds and even a puzzle board and temporary table! The welcome pack and homemade cake were a delicious extra, and the owner's communication was great - kept in touch on Whatsapp to make sure everything was OK and to remind us about bin day. First class service, thank you!

Enjoyed our stay at woodlands and although the weather was cold which you expect it to be at this of year woodlands kept us nice and comfy.

There was nothing you needed because woodlands catered for everything. Even the Chinese restaurant around the corner was acceptable.

Absolutely beautiful property which had everything you could need for a home from home.

The place was spotless and for 5 mums who are used to spending our weekends doing housework it was an absolute treat to stay somewhere like this. The home-made cake and bottle of wine left for us was a lovely touch that was appreciated. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property as a place to stay. If there was one downside it would be trying to find somewhere local for an evening meal as everyone seemed to stop serving after 5pm or else they ran out of food. However, with a chippy at the bottom of the road we managed to avoid having to cook for ourselves and the fish and chips were very nice! We had a great weekend visiting Chatsworth for the Xmas markets/tour of the house and having Woodlands as our base was a joy. 5 star stay.

Lots of thoughtful extras provided and a very well equipped kitchen.... if you were keen to cook! Great area for visiting attractive bustling towns and historic buildings or country parks. Large selection of good eating places in the area to suit all pockets.

Lovely cottage and location.

Well equipped kitchen, everything considered to make it a home from home, even down to mirror and accessible plug on dressing table, which is often missing in some places. Just a note, the info said we had to take own tea towels, so we did, but the owner provided them. So a little confusion there.

This is a comfortable and well equipped house in a lovely setting with many walks from the house.

We had a sunny early autumn week and were able to make use of the garden every day. The wrap around garden with different seating areas meant we could get the sun from first thing until sunset. The location meant we were close to many market towns and Chatsworth Estate and lovely villages in a short drive. A cottage we are happy to recommend.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage.

Well suited for my husband who has disability problems. The garden was lovely and our grandchildren enjoyed “fish feeding days” . Harriet was very attentive to all details and it was lovely to be greeted with wine and homemade cake. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A fantastic cottage for our weeks stay.

Would highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the Peak District. Plenty of room and clean with everything you could wish for being in the property.

This is a great cottage to stay in, with great facilities and many thoughtful touches.

The only downside was that the conservatory and porch get very hot even after we arrived (the day after 39C heatwave), with weather outside of 24C / cloudy - also, the bay windows in kitchen and sitting room are non-opening apart from two small windows at the top, so they took a long time to cool down. The kitchen remained at about 28C for some time after arrival - even after opening windows when arriving. The sitting room was also very hot on that day - we had to have a fan there in the evening. Other days, when it was 18-23C outside, and not sunny, were fine indoors. Making it easy to shade roof as well as windows of conservatory would help, as would having windows that open fully in kitchen and sitting room. Turning off or removing the wine cooler and freezer in porch may also help.

We stayed at Woodlands with our two kids plus grannie, it was a great location for driving out into the Peak District for walks and attractions (v close to Chatsworth).

The house was lovely and clean, in a quiet neighbourhood, with a nice garden and very well equipped kitchen. We also were provided with a stairgate, high chair and cot which saved space in the car. Thanks very much for a great stay!

This was our first self-catering holiday for a few years and we were both very impressed indeed with the standard of the accommodation and all the facilities at the 'Woodlands'.

The house is located in a quiet, residential well wooded area of Darley Dale which is conveniently situated between Matlock and Bakewell. The house is excellently furnished and every imaginable item you may need on a week's holiday will be found here. There is attention to detail and the ornaments and modern furnishings add to the overall pleasant ambience of the stay. There is a plenty of outdoor space for sitting / relaxing and if the weather is blowing a little cooler the conservatory allows you to sample the same experience. The owner kindly provided a welcome pack and there were books, games, tourist information leaflets and instructions on how to work the numerous electrical devices. I rarely give 5 stars for all aspects in a review, but this house deserves it! Thanks again, Harriet for a memorable stay.

Great location with lots to do on the doorstep.

A lovely property in an excellent location which can be enjoyed any time of the year, in the winter relaxing in the cosy living room or conservatory, or in the summer when you can sit in the pretty garden.

We experienced all seasons in our week at the end of.March, sitting in the garden at the beginning of the week watching the blue tits nesting in the nesting box and waking up to snow at the end of the week. The property was ideal for my elderly parents as it offered downstairs bedrooms and a wet room.We had a very enjoyable stay from the moment we entered the property with the lovely welcome basket with homemade cake to the moment we left. We will definitely be back and would recommend the property to our friends.

Woodlands was the perfect holiday accommodation.

The facilities/cleanliness were 100% and situated within easy reach of the National Park and Derbyshire Dales.

We absolutely loved our stay here, its the best holiday cottave we have ever stayed in.

Its so well equipped, beautifully decorated and furnished. The beds where just perfect and so comfy, we had a good night's sleep every night. Great quality towels and bedding, lovely shower room and fabulous bath. I really can't find fault with this cottage its made our two week holiday stress free. Its also in a great location with great views and easy links to most places in the Peak District. We will make this a yearly stay for family and friends

My daughter and her friends had a great time at woodlands, when we dropped them off it was so nice to see the Christmas tree and everything all lit up, such a beautiful house, Good communication with the owner, She will help you with anything you need to know straight away, We will be recommending and will stay again

The property was perfect for us.

Everywhere was well decorated and clean. It was lovely and warm and welcoming with the home made cake and a bottle of wine! A short drive to Chatsworth, which was the aim of our visit but lovely walks nearby. We recommend this place highly.

I Love booking with Sykes, as I know it's always going to be a good holiday.

And this time at Woodlands was definitely the BEST OF THE BEST. We have stayed in cottages from Scotland down to Devon plus North wales and Woodlands exceded all our expectations. Everything you need for a great holiday in a very well equipped and buitiful Bungalow. I will definitely go back and will look forward to staying again.
