What guests are saying
Whole house was lovely, and clean, but needs a bit of a refresh.
Furniture showing signs of wear and tear
Overall we had a lovely stay at Upper Barn.
We went as a family of 6 adults and a toddler. We did feel that it should have a 4 tick rating than 5* however due to the following: -Sinks are ridiculously small in all bathrooms -Lawn needed mowing -A welcome basket of some sort would have been nice as we had paid £1300 for 3 nights and you do get this in other 5* homes. Salt and pepper would have been handy too. -Although an iron wasn’t specified we did feel like there should have been one provided -The high chair was filthy and covered in pet hairs -The garden is a sun trap which is great, however there was no shade and a parasol would be ideal If the property was rated 3/4 star I wouldn’t bother mentioning most of the above but for a 5* we felt it was a bit lacking. No issues with communication with the owner and they kindly posted an item id left behind.
We all had a great stay at Upper Barn.
The property was as described, and the outside area is a real sun trap. Overall, the property was clean, and the owner had kindly left some essentials such as washing-up liquid and a sponge, although we had brought everything we needed just in case. For the price paid, we felt the property was good value. As others have mentioned, the sinks are quite small, though we appreciate this may be due to space limitations in the ensuite. The beds were a little firm and slightly creaky, and some areas of paintwork could benefit from a refresh. A few practical points for the owner, these didn’t affect our stay but could improve the experience: quite a lot of the crockery was chipped, and there weren’t many small plates or bowls for a group of eight compared to the number of large plates. There was also a cracked patio slab in the garden, the dishwasher needed salt and rinse aid (which we couldn’t locate under the sink), and the freezer had a layer of ice with crumbs embedded. However, none of these points detracted from our overall enjoyment of the stay. Thank you.
