Description

Vale Barn is a fantastic, detached barn conversion in the centre of Dronfield in Derbyshire.

The cottage cleverly combines the original fabric of the building with 21st century living, with a galleried landing which is complemented by the beautiful feature beams in the bedrooms.

With a comfortable double and twin room, the cottage provides flexible sleeping arrangements, with the use of a sofa bed in the sitting room.

The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room, there is a family bathroom and a ground floor basin and WC for extra convenience.

The spacious sitting room has an upright piano and is a fantastic space for everyone to gather together and plan the next day’s activities.

Vale Barn was once the carriage house to Vale House which was home to a family of substance who patented malleable iron.

Dronfield lies midway between the vibrant city of Sheffield and the historic market town of Chesterfield, on the outskirts of The Peak District.

Historically, the town has great significance and the Grade I listed Church of St John the Baptist is testament to this as it has stood at the centre of this community since the 12th century.

You will find all the local amenities you require in Dronfield, including The Green Dragon pub which is believed to have been established in 1547. The Peak District’s varied and breathtaking landscapes are among the most beautiful in Britain.

There are activities available to keep you busy whenever you stay, with walks on the moors, cycle routes, country fairs in summer, traditional markets and a vast choice of stately homes to visit.

This cottage is in an ideal location and with so much to see and do in the area you will see yourselves coming back again and again!

Lovely place.

Just as described. Very comfortable. Excellent location for Sheffield and Peak District. Quiet, despite being so near the railway...very few trains at night. Generous host...so nice to find milk in the fridge and everything ready for a cuppa on arrival.

Great stay at Vale Barn, nice comfy accommodation and well located for the Peak District and within walking distance of the rail station.

Prior to arrival we'd seen reviews commenting on noise from the nearby railway station but whilst we could hear that a bit in the background when we had the windows and doors open (it was the middle of a heatwave) it wasn't what I'd call loud and we didn't find that a problem at all. The parking space is a bit unique so would recommend parking on the street on first arrival and taking a look, and following the advice to reverse in- I had a large vehicle and managed ok. On arrival we were met by the local cat who watched us unload our bags and then escorted us all the way to the front door (it's friendly but didn't try to enter the house) - worth being cautious as the cat had a tendency to sleep under my vehicle in the mornings. Overall a great stay.

Great village accommodation.

Lovely well kept property. Walking distance to pubs, cafe, places to eat, supermarket and garage. Plenty of National Trust properties around.
