Fantastic house with everything you need.

Stayed for the weekend and even though the weather wasn't great it didn't spoil it (especially as the hot tub was covered). The owners left enough wood to have a couple of fires which made it lovely and cosy. The local pub is very welcoming and all the locals were friendly and chatty. Buxton Town centre is a 20 minute walk down the hill so not too far. Great communication with the hosts. Very quick responses. Definitely recommend

This is the second time we've stayed at this cottage and it's been great both times.

Clean, well equipped, a lovely place in a beautiful quiet location. When there was an issue (outside anyone's control - there was a power cut which effected the local area while we were there) the hosts did everything they could to make sure it didn't inconvenience our stay or impact on our holiday. Just a lovely place with really helpful owners. Would highly recommend.

Lovely, clean, well equipped and comfortable cottage.

Very secure garden for our dogs, nice pub just up the road. Lovely touch of a cream tea on arrival as well as treats for dogs. Very clean and well serviced hot tub, would recommend to anybody.

Jane and Steve were very helpful.

The cottage was very clean. The beds were very comfortable with nice bedding and plenty of towels. The hot tub was maintained daily but as it was a heat wave we only used it 3 times. The listing was very honest as there was a bit of road noise at the front of the house but it did not impact on us. The bathrooms are lovely a big bath downstairs and a beautiful shower upstairs. Overall a lovely cottage with everything we needed. We had a great stay.

Beds were very comfortable and you can watch people on the golf course from your bed on a morning. Lovely welcome scone with jam and cream and bottle of wine. Loved the hot tub for relaxing . Great location and was 0.66 of a mile to wander to the Railway pub which was dog friendly and had very tasty food and home brewed larger and beer. Would definitely recommend and will return.

We have stayed at many self catering cottages through out the UK and this one is top of the list for any type of grading. Any queries were answered immediately and politely by our hosts. First impression was what a lovely cosy feel, quality furnishings and a homely feel.

The kitchen was large and cosy with scones and wine to greet us wonderfully equipped even down to a slow cooker! It was handy having a downstairs bathroom so we didn't have to keep going upstairs for the loo. The shower room upstairs was lovely, modern, warm and clean and the bedrooms were large, airy with lovely furnishings and the beds were a dream. It was lovely to sit in the hot tub with a glass (plastic for safety) of wine and watch all the birds and then come in to a log fire. We would recommend Shenton Cottage in a flash lovely, homely and lacking nothing.

The most gorgeous stay at Shenton Cottage!

The place was absolutely spotless and had incredibly comfortable beds and sofas. The location is a 15 minute walk into the town centre and is situated amongst the most beautiful countryside walks. Highly recommend anyone considering visiting to stay!

We were very impressed with the cottage.

It was beautifully clean and had everything yoiu would require. It was so nice to have a cream tea and a bottle of wine waiting for us! The beds were very comfortable and there was minimal noise from outside. We used the hot tub on a rainy evening, which was very pleasant. Buxton is a lovely town and only 20 mins walk to the centre. Whilst in town we visited Peak Caverns (dog as well) and walked up to Solomon's temple - great views. We ate and drank in the Tap Room - excellent pies and beers! (could have stayed there all day). We did lots of walking with our dog, including Lose Hill, Mam Tor, Dove dale, Chee Dale and Lud's Church. There are some great places to eat and visit all within 30 minutes drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return again. Thanks very much.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, had everything that we needed.

Very comfortable, only a short walk into town, hot tub was great and also undercover so it didn’t matter that it was raining you could still sit out in it. Also was left some lovely scones with jam and cream for our arrival with a bottle of wine. Very clean. Thank you.

The welcoming of homemade scones for afternoon tea set up on the table and a bottle of wine too was a lovely thought. Accommodation was spotless, it had everything we needed. Location perfect to our sightseeing places to visit. Garden was great with the hot tub Would definitely recommend and use this cottage again in the future.

Beautiful , spotless cottage opposite the golf course in Buxton .

The owners really think of everything for example, from every utensil you can ever need of in the kitchen to logs for the wood burner , blankets ( and welcome dog treats ) for the pooch . Lovely afternoon scones on arrival and a bottle of wine! Big comfortable beds and lovely linen and towels . The hot tub is well maintained and was fabulous even in the snowy weather . Would highly recommend and certainly hope to return .

Accomodation was really comfortable and added bonus of hot tub.

We did not find it too noisy at all. The distance to Buxton was very useful. I did contact the owners about a couple of issues, they got straight back, to me. There was a small bottle of milk left, which lasted until grocery delivery. Lovely cream tea, and bottle of wine. Much appreciated

An absolutely charming cottage, a short distance from the centre of Buxton which has a good choice of venues to eat & drink.

The cottage is very well maintained, is very comfortable with large beds and a cozy living space, the kitchen is very well equipped ( as is the cottage) and has ample space for dining. The hot tub is a very nice addition to this highly recommended cottage.

Shenton Cottage is amazing.

It is a great size and bigger than we expected. Jane and Steve were accommodating to our request for single beds rather than king. The bedrooms are large with lots of storage and the kitchen has everything you need. We couldn't tell it was a dog friendly place in terms of it didn't smell doggy (as I have experienced in other places) but when you looked it had everything needed to be dog friendly. We loved the personal touch of wine, scones and a personal greeting message when we arrived. Hot tub was lovely and well maintained. Hot when we arrived. The welcome information was extremely informative and we didn't have a question unanswered from it.

Absolutely wonderful place, lovely little touches around the cottage, loved reading the history and family connection, cottage has everything you need and more, nice warm and cosy.

Comfortable beds, everything you needed for a good stay. A great base to explore Buxton and the surrounding area.

Very well put together information pack for visitors. Cottage is in an ideal location. Great access to many places. Hot tub is clean and sheltered. Only slight snag is that there is off road parking that can get busy outside the house so we had to park opposite the local pub until car parking became available later on the evening. Stairs in the house very steep so be careful. Overall beautiful cottage, lovely hosts and highly recommended

Lovely cottage, well kept, clean, and equipped with everything we needed.

The beds were huge and comfy and the bedrooms were a good size with plenty of storage space. Appliances - cooker, washing machine etc, were all up to date, worked well and were easy to use. The host replied quickly to any queries we had. I would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

Cottage is so welcoming. Little personal greeting on the blackboard and cake were a lovely touch. Perfect place to relax and get away from it all, but close to town also if required. Beds really comfy, and hot tub the icing on the cake

This is a nice cottage in a beautiful part of the world with plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area.

There was a lovely cream tea to welcome us plus a bottle of wine. The kitchen is big and beautiful with everything you need. The added bonus of a hot tub in the little garden was great. We had a couple of 'house' problems whilst we were there but these were fixed immediately with a great response from the hosts. We were aware the front bedroom experienced some road noise. Having lived in a main road myself I think fitting secondary glazing would prevent this almost entirely. The beds were comfy but a minor drawback for us were the pillows which we struggled with. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday and the cottage was very nice.

We had an amazing stay.

Everywhere was really clean, thank you for the scones and wine. The hot tub was really nice. There was everything we needed. The only thing I could report on was the toilet seat upstairs it bangs when you sit on it. Just loud in the night. Great place and location, safe garden for the dog. Thank you

Super property.

Comfortable with all the necessary home from home bits. Well maintained hot tub and added extras to make a really memorable stay. Good location. Buxton has some fabulous restaurants - Lucianos and Santiago are extremely good. Only small area of improvement would be to secondary glaze the front bedroom as the traffic noise is a bit annoying (very early wake ups) but appreciate it was advertised.

The cottage is really lovely and comfortable.

The place is one of the best equipped I have been to, the owners have thought of everything you could need - from the hairdryers in both rooms, extra light on the dressing table mirror to the shelf by the hot tub to put your drinks on! We enjoyed our stay. I did find the road noise a bit problematic in the mornings waking me up but this is highlighted in the cottage listing so I was expecting it. The walls are thin and neighbours can be heard too. Well located for going into Buxton and exploring the Peak District but if a quiet stay is what you seek it might not be for you. The only thing I would recommend to improve the facilities as such is to have some sockets put into (or moved so they’re accessible) in the second room upstairs. My friends had to plug their phones and devices in to charge on the landing as they couldn’t access sockets in that room which is not ideal. We would go back and have already recommended the cottage to family member we think would enjoy a stay there. Thanks for a lovely long weekend.

Fabulous stay at the cottage brilliant walks surrounding the area.

Beautifully delicious scones on arrival and a bottle of wine so impressed! Hot tub was brilliant! The only thing I’d say but it’s personal preference that the mattress on the bed in master room is slightly uncomfortable and didn’t sleep well at times. Our doggies Teddy and shadow enjoyed their stay as well and loved their biscuits!

A beautifully decorated cottage with a lovely kitchen dining room and comfortable lounge.

Plenty of room for myself and two children to relax. Two lovely bathrooms, the shower room was particularly nice. The hot tub in the garden was clean and a really lovely treat to enjoy on the chilly evenings. The owners were very accommodating, even allowing us to check out slightly later. A great little place, I highly recommend!

The location is absolutely fantastic, offering both tranquility and convenience. The facilities provided were top-notch, making our stay extremely comfortable. The real highlights for us were the cozy fireplace and the hot tub, which added an extra layer of relaxation to our experience. Highly recommend!

Excellent cottage and lovely stay.

We were a bit snowed in but that didn't stop us enjoying Buxton and the local scenery. Our hosts were lovely and very generous. They provided us with a laid fire, wine and scones on our arrival which was a lovely touch. They even provided us with additional logs for the fire given the extreme weather we were experiencing. Any issues we had they were very attentive and helpful. The house itself was cosy nicely furnished with everything you'd need. It was well placed to travel into Buxton and the surrounding areas. The garden and hot tub also had everything you might need (albeit the garden was under a blanket of 6 inch snow so we can't comment too much on that!). The house was very warm and the log burner was brilliant at kicking out some heat to warm us up. We did find the living room TV to be a touch slow but it worked adequately. We did feel there needed to be a few more soft furnishings around, such as on the sofa, and some new pillows provided as they weren't the comfiest (we have been told by the owner that they plan to replace these asap so that was reassuring and good to know for future stays). All in all we had a fabulous stay and would absolutely recommend Shenton Cottage to others. The owners were lovely and helpful, the local area very beautiful and the cottage a nice, cosy place to stay. We definitely plan to return again.

Fantastic cottage, has everything and more then you need.

Super cozy and comfortable. A home away from home. Lovely log burner in living room and fabulous hot tub too, both great for relaxing. A nice walk to local town. Hosts were super helpful and there to answer any questions and had a nice welcome of fresh scones. Highly recommend and would go again.

Fantastic cottage.

Had everything we needed for our short stay, lovely little surprises on arrival for us and our dog.

We stayed for three nights as part of our honeymoon and didn't want to leave.

We would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet home from home with the added bonus of a hot tub. The cottage has everything you need and the pub is a couple of doors away. We would also recommend day trip's to Blackwell and Matlock.

All you could want and more from a cottage for some time away.

Very clean & sympathetically extended & modernised keeping its character. Ideally situated on the edge of town, easy to access & park. The hosts are excellent & really good with communication & thoughtful touches to welcome their guests to this well equipped cottage. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property as a base to explore this beautiful part of the country.

Our 1 week stay at Shenton Cottage was exceptional.

The cottage was beautifully and sympathetically decorated, immaculately clean and every detail and convenience had been considered, for the adults, children and the dog! Communication with the lovely owners was easy and hassle free and the were very attentive to an unexpected request. We would 100% recommend staying here.

Super cottage, a real home from home.

Spotlessly clean, welcome cream tea and wine and a hot tub! The kitchen had everything you would need. Excellent communication from Jane. You can walk into Buxton from the cottage, along the main road. Great location for exploring all the wonders of the Peak District. Happy to recommend to future guests.

The beds were extremely comfortable and the reclining sofa was brilliant. We loved the hot tub and having an enclosed garden was great for our dog!

Every detail thought of, and spotlessly clean.

Everything there you could possibly need, including games and things for the children to do. Never stayed in a holiday rental that had so many things thought of and provided - excellent. Hot tub was wonderful. Very peaceful and restful. Communication with owners was excellent too. And the cream tea was lovely on arrival!

We all thought the house was very welcoming the attention to details was excellent it felt like home from home . Hot tub was amazing !

Upon arriving, there is a ‘home’ feeling and the cottage doesn’t disappoint us.

The living room is very comfortable with reclining sofa, big kitchen with skylight window and everything you need too. There is downstairs bathroom and a shower room upstairs. Two big bedroom and hot tub is a bonus. We had a wonderful stay and thank you very much for such a lovely time.

This was a wonderfully located cottage.

It was warm and cozy and made us feel so homey during our stay. It was also very dog friendly and accommodating to our chocolate lab! Would highly recommend staying here!

Fabulous cottage We keep returning to Shenton Cottage because it earns its 5 stars.

It is always very clean, has comfortable beds, a cosy lounge with lovely log fire and a large, well-equipped kitchen. The owners have thought of everything you might need with lots of personal touches. The hot tub is very clean and well maintained. Shenton's location is also ideal for Buxton town and lots of walks in the surrounding Peak District. We have parked our car outside Shenton on every visit with no problem. Finally, the welcome scones, cream, jam and tea all laid out on arrival with complimentary bottle of vino is a great welcome.

We simply couldn't have asked for any more from this amazing stay at Shenton cottage!

Messaged before we arrived and owners got in touch with a speedy reply. Everything was spot on for us and the cottage was very family friendly. There was plastic plates, bowls and cups as well as a selection of adults and children's books, games and colouring books and pencils too. The cream tea, wine, water and sweets for the kids on arrival was a lovely touch. Everything that was provided was carefully thought about to provide guests with all that they needed for the week. Managed to get parked out the front of the cottage and it isn't too far from main Buxton. Lots of lovely shops and a fantastic park in Buxton. There's an Aldi and Morrisons not too far away for shopping. Well placed for lots of days out in Derbyshire. We did venture to Manchester and Bury too as we needed rainy day options for our stay. Would definitely recommend as it's the best cottage we've stayed in.

It felt like home as soon as we walked through the door. It is obvious a lot of time and love has gone into this family cottage and we wish to say thankyou to Jane, Steve and Johnny (the dog) for allowing us to use your lovely property. The cottage is well furnished, comfortable and has everything you should need. It is very clean, as is the amazing hot tub too. Absolutely stunning interior and spotlessly clean.

Located high above Buxton, it has great views of countryside (back) and golf course (front). Lovely information about the history to the property in the Guest Book. Delicious tea-cream awaits you on arrival, all beautifully presented in a bone china tea-set. (We naughtily had ours for breakfast the following morning, and why not?!) A welcome bottle of wine too (we didn't have that for breakfast though!!!) The decor and furnishings are perfect, are the bathrooms. Icing on the cake, a well-maintianed hot-tub, set at a perfect temperature. We only stayed 3-nights but could've easily moved in!!! Jane was great too at communicating information as well as scone-baker. Highly recommend a stay at Shenton Cottage *****

The property is beautifully presented and every little touch is considered. The hot tub was a great way to unwind at the end of the day too! Huge thanks to Jane and Steve who were so accommodating and rightly proud of their beautiful property.

Yet another wonderful week in Shenton Cottage.

The weather was against us but because of the excellent location of Shenton we still had a lovely week which included trips to Bakewell, Chartwell House and the Monsal Trail. We also took the short walk into Buxton town centre for some lovely meals (Pizza Express, Simply Thai and St Moritz are our favourites). Back at the cottage, we had the relaxing hot-tub (all ready for you on arrival and for the duration of our stay) and the log-burner fire (again, already laid with more wood available) to help us relax outside or inside the cottage. We also agree that the beds are wonderful, very large with warm duvets. There are also lots of lovely little touches which makes this cottage so well equipped. From the moment we arrived, our stay at Shenton cottage was excellent.

The furniture and fittings were of a very high standard and the location was ideal for a very relaxing holiday with our two dogs. We thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Jane and Steve are the perfect hosts; they have thought of everything that might contribute to a memorable and restful stay. Nothing is overlooked. You can take advantage of the hot tub the minute you arrive as it is already heated up for you. Similarly, if you fancy settling down in front of a snug fire courtesy of the wood-burning stove, it is already laid for your convenience; you simply need to light it. Great place to stay .

. everything we needed and more .. lovely scones and wine upon arrival .. only suggestion would be if more than one car stating next door that they didn’t park outside number 15 where we were staying as we ended up parking in lay-by down the road and the rain was quiet bad so when leaving / loading car to go out we got wetter than would have done if parked outside .. I know if it was me and had two cars I would respect the neighbours and one would have parked down the road

Shenton Cottage is such a lovely place!

Beautiful location, with just a short walk into Buxton Town centre. Gorgeous views of Derbyshire. The hot tub and log burner were very nice finishing touches. The house was decorated to a nice finish, and parking was easy just outside the home.

It instantly felt warm, cosy and relaxing on entry.

The cottage had everything you needed. Cleanliness was impeccable. Communication was excellent, there if you needed them. The welcome book had some recommendations of local attractions, food and suggestions for our stay. A credit to the owners. What a gem.

We thought Shenton Cottage was lovely, clean and very well equipped.

The house was just what we were looking for, a comfortable base for us to explore the area . Beds were comfortable, and the layout of the house was excellent.We have two small dogs, who settled in well with a secure garden, and decent size kitchen. The hot tub was a lovely treat after a nice walk. Hospitality was fantastic, lovely welcome pack on arrival and fuel for the wood burner provided for the week. Thank you Jane and Steve.

The welcome tea and scones was perfect. The cottage was really clean and had everything we needed. The beds were great we slept really well. We made use of the hot tub every day which was the added luxury to make it a perfect break. We would highly recommend the property.

The scones and tea on arrival was welcome after a 4 hour drive and Jane and Steve were always on hand, when needed The hot tub was the best we had been in, both in terms of cleanliness and good strong jets. The cottage was well located to enable us to reach Kinder scout, Matlock, the Monsal trail and Dovedale within a short drive A definite little gem in Buxton.

A real home from home comfort cottage. Cream tea on arrival was a welcome sight along with dog treats for the dogs! We used the hot tub every evening after a days walking. The cottage is just off busy road and there is some road noice but nothing that particular disturbed us. Would visit again in the future

This was such a lovely home to stay in.

The owner loves next door and keeps herself to herself, we didn’t see them all week but we’re in hand via message if we needed anything. The property was perfect, a couple of little extra upon arrival too which was a lovely surprise. The cream tea on arrival was absolutely lovely too. Rest of the property was exactly how it is described and portrayed.

Another very relaxing week at Shenton.

The cottage is well equipped and very clean. It has large, comfortable beds with very comfortable duvets; a great log fire (already laid for your arrival) in the lounge; a nice outside sitting area with a peaceful water feature which can be turned on or off as you choose; an excellent and very well maintained private hot tub with trees, screens and a large canopy-style roof. We had no problem parking outside the cottage all week and last but not least the extra little touches provided by Jane and Steve, like beginning our holiday with a wonderful cream tea on arrival, are what make Shenton so special for us. We cannot recommend Shenton Cottage and its hosts highly enough and look forward to returning in the near future.

A really lovely cottage with super helpful and yet discrete owners next door.

The cottage has everything you could need including a lovely hot tub to soak tired legs in after a long day walking. It is also well positioned for walking into town (about a 20 minute walk) or playing golf (course across the road) or walking on local footpaths. We did all of the above. A really super relaxing break!

We had a wonderful stay, arrived in the snow on 8th April left in 17 degrees a week later.

House was very comfortable, log burner was very cosy and hot tub very welcome after a day out walking or cycling. Owners live next door but were very discrete, came daily to check the hot tub, collected the bin for the roadside collection so we didn't have to bother.

Waited for 2 years for this cottage holiday, due to covid unfortunately it wasn't worth the wait or the money.

The cottage was very clean and fairly well presented and well equipped, a little dated in areas but generally good. The owners left a cream tea for us on arrival and treats for my dogs which was lovely. However, that is where the good points end sadly. The 'enclosed ' garden was a very low wall around a tiny courtyard, so low at the bottom, even our Pomeranians could jump out! The hotub was overlooked by all the neighbouring gardens and not private at all, we didn't even attempt to use it, the owner says it's private once you are in but you still have to get in and out! The cottage is located next to a busy road which was very noisy all day and night, it kept us awake at night and was not mentioned in the property description which we feel is misleading. The beds were unbearably hard and uncomfortable but I appreciate this is a personal preference thing, just thought something in the middle would suit more people. The owners dog unfortunately barked and howled everytime they went out, the owner said they were moving soon, so might be ok for the future but didn't help my stay. The owners kept walking past the kitchen window to use the shed in the garden, move bins and collect a ball, we found this an unacceptable level of privacy and quite intrusive. Overall we were very disappointed and found the property nothing like it's description and quite misleading, we left and went home 3 days early as we found it not to be the relaxing, stress free holiday we were hoping for. I did complain to the owner who was very sorry but had an answer to everything I complained about, no offer of compensation for the 3 days. The most annoying part is having had the holiday cancelled twice due to covid, we were then charged an extra £91 for the same holiday as prices had gone up! I appreciate this is not anyone's fault, no one saw the pandemic coming but quite rude to expect guests to pay more for the same week, overall unhappy and out of pocket!

It is very comfortable and well equipped and the hot tub and log burner were particularly well used. The owners provided lots of useful information and were very approachable. They also provided some lovely personal touches like a welcome note and cream tea, yum. We will certainly visit again in the future. Darren, Lynne and Jack the dog.

A beautiful home from home cottage.

Great communication with the hosts Jane and steve and a lovely welcome on arrival was a cream tea with home made scones. Buxton was only a 10 minute walk down hill and the market town of Bakewell was a 20 minute drive and would highly recommend. The hot tub was a luxury after a rainy day.

We loved the cottage and it had everything you could need.

We used the hot tub a couple of times which was a real treat. There were a few things that spoilt it for us but overall a fab place to stay. There was building work going on next door which started at 8am each morning so we weren't able to have a lie in. (Obviously not owner's fault) Pillows were very soft. I think they may have been feather pillows but they didn't give much support. Having said that the mattress itself was very firm and comfortable. Cottage is very well located for travelling in to the Peak District and we would recommend Bakewell if you're looking for somewhere to go.

Shenton cottage is lovely and provided 3 over tired mums with a relaxing break.

It is walking distance from Buxton Centre. The cottage itself is well maintained and clean. The kitchen is well equipped. We loved the log fire which was perfect to relax in front of after our daytime walks. We wished we’d have stayed longer. There are a number of little touches that make the difference but I wont spoil the surprise for people We would recommend especially if you enjoy the great outdoors like us.

Thank you so much! The cottage was very clean and well equipped for our week away. The cream tea and daffodils were a lovely welcome to the cottage and we have enjoyed cozy evenings by the fire after using the hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed and it was great to have a decent sized dining table for the week. Beautiful decor helped us to switch off from work and have a very relaxed week, despite questionable weather! We’d recommend the walk around Combe that was in the walking book. We finished off our week with beautiful views there and a fab pub lunch. Thanks again!

The owners have thought about absolutely everything a guest might need on a staycation. The property has beautiful views, is walking distance to Buxton, and is immaculate! We spent some lovely days out walking and visiting beautiful pubs in Buxton, followed by relaxing in the hot tub in the autumn evenings. Couldn't have asked for more!

Shenton cottage is a beautiful traditional cottage with lots of lovely modern accessories including a fabulous hot tub.

We had a fabulous stay here and would recommend to anyone who enjoys walks, bike rides then relaxing in the hot tub. A week of pure relaxation was bliss .

We have just spent a wonderful walking holiday in the Peak District and Shenton Cottage was ideal as our base. We highly recommend it. The cottage is very clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped. On arrival, there was a lovely cream tea awaiting us, the log burner was already laid in the very comfortable lounge and the hot tub was up and running. The beds are large and very comfortable. The hosts live next door and while they were very friendly and available if we needed local advice, we hardly saw them. The cottage garden has a very nice water feature and at the end of the day it is lovely looking across the fields and listening to the birdsong. The cottage is in a quiet road opposite Buxton golf course and it’s just a 15-minute walk to the centre of Buxton. We highly recommend the Simply Thai and St Moritz (Italian) restaurants but it’s advisable to book in advance for both. The No. 6 Café (opposite the Opera House) serves a delicious full English breakfast. The cottage is also about 15 minutes by car from some amazing scenic walks. We especially like the walks around the Fernilee and Errwood reservoirs in the Goyt Valley off the road to Whaley Bridge and the Monsal Trail to the east of Buxton. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked our return holiday for next year on the same day we came home; we are really looking forward to rediscovering the delights of Shenton Cottage.

We had a lovely cottage.

It had everything we needed and more. The hot tub was a great addition. We would definitely go back to this cottage, as it was central for exploring the area aswell. When we arrived the was a cream tea awaiting us, which was lovely. Although the owner lives next door, they are not intrusive and we never saw them except the first day when we arrived. This is going to be our new base for going to this area and hope to go back soon.

We had a lovely stay, and the cottage is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of little thoughtful things and touches well thought out (comfortable settee and bed, lovely fire, nice decor, it was a really comfortable stay).

We loved the hot tub, and despite being overlooked it feels really secluded with the good use of the the cover and wooden fencing. We really enjoyed Buxton itself, and would definitely stay here again in future. The scones, jam and cream were a lovely treat too!

Jane was always so helpful and quick to respond. Perfect basecamp for our holiday around the peak district. Also very toddler friendly so I wasnt panicking.

Spent a couple of weeks here in August 2020 with 2 adults, 2 kids (13 and 10).

The pictures don't really do it justice, it's fantastic. Well furnished, great kitchen - can't think of anything that was missing. Really comfy beds too. The owners, Jane and Steve, could not be more helpful (without intruding) and there's loads of info about local facilities, top stuff. Obviously the hot tub is a real bonus too - absolutely great for relaxing after a long walk. Can't recommend this place enough, brilliant!

We all had a fantastic week at this wonderful cottage.

The cream tea on arrival was a nice touch and Jane and Steve also left a bottle of Prosecco and a birthday card for me which was also much appreciated. The cottage was very clean throughout and the hot tub was very welcome, especially for my son and daughter who visited for a few days. The owners live next door and were so helpful and went the extra mile to make our stay a memorable one, I can’t recommend them too highly. We had planned to do some walking in the Peak District during our stay but the weather put paid to most that, it was too hot !! The only complaint I have it that the week went over too quickly. Even Johnny our dog didn’t want to leave on the Friday morning and went into hiding, he’d enjoyed his stay so much. So I’d suggest anyone reading this books up as soon as they can, you won’t regret it.

What a way to get rid of the January blues!

We had a wonderfully relaxing time at Shenton Cottage. We loved using the fire on the cold evenings, and the kitchen was fully equipped for all our needs and more. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and there was lots of space generally for four adults. The hot tub was the highlight - it was great to relax in after a walk up to Solomon’s Temple. We really appreciated added touches, like the bathrobes and slippers. We would definitely come again.

Me and my partner spent my birthday here for the week with our dog. The cottage was perfectly clean, and the bedrooms were beautiful. The cottage is very accessible too close amenities and the little touches were lovely too! It feels like a second home! We will definitely be returning!

An amazing few days spent in the idyllic surroundings of the Derbyshire Dales.

Shenton Cottage is beautifully restored and cared for by it's owners (who live next door). It was absolutely spotless! There was a fabulous cream tea awaiting us when we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. We managed to get early entry as the previous visitors left early in the morning. Jane was great at responding to emails and a real help with bookings in the area. The hot tub was amazingly relaxing. All in all we seriously couldn't have asked for more 10/10 for the Coates family and their gorgeous property. We WILL be back. x

It was ‘home from home’ meets boutique hotel. Little touches such as blankets and dog beds and bowls down to washing capsules and cloths being left really meant that everything had been truly thought out to what we may need during our stay.

Shenton Cottage was everything it promised to be.

The cottage is lovely and has everything you need for a perfect stay. Lots of helpful information at the cottage too, so you can make the most of your stay. We would definitely recommend this cottage to our friends and family.

A very warm welcome from the owners (just next door) including homemade scones on arrival.

The property was immaculately clean including the outdoor area and hot tub. The owners were very friendly and helpful (we even had fresh strawberries from their allotment), advising of where to go and eat. We had our 2 year old daughter with us to which the owners put up stair gates for our arrival. I have to say that the cottage of perfect for our little one, offering a cot, highchair and the blinds in the bedrooms are black out which is vital for our daughter to sleep at the moment. Personal highlights were relaxing each evening in the hot tub and a glass of wine, log burner and mechanical reclining sofa in the living room for a nice film (smart TV so easy access to Netflix, Amazon prime etc). All rooms are very generous in size and comfort (all seems brand new) and the upstairs shower is very luxurious. The area is very peaceful as it overlooks a golf course and farm fields at the rear (our daughter loved seeing the cows in the field behind the garden). Easy walking distance to Buxton town centre (we did it with a pram in about 15 mins) and could always park directly outside the property. Thanks to the owners for a lovely stay. Would definitely recommend a stay for a relaxing trip to the Peaks.

Hot tub was fab after along day of hiking in the hills

We had a wonderful holiday in this exceptional cottage, it was very well fitted out and it was so nice to sit out in the beautiful garden watching and listening to all the many birds that visited it.

Nothing was too much trouble for Jane she even took the trouble to find out the times of the buses to Bakewell from her Aunt for us.

The cottage is lovely, located on a quiet street on the edge of town.

Only a short walk will get you to the centre of town where there are a number of shops, restaurants and bars. There is a pub a few doors down and there are plenty of places to walk the dog nearby. cottage is very well equipped and furnished to a very high standard. Would definitely return.

Lovely stay at Shelton cottage.

It had everything needed for a comfortable home from home experience. In a good location for walking in to the town centre or for driving to the surrounding villages, national park or pubs for lunches. Lots of lovely places to try for dog walks.

Shenton cottage is a lovely home-from-home, beautifully furnished and with all mod cons.

It was spotlessly clean and with a lovely welcome surprise. There were lots of thoughtful little extra things, which made it special. The kitchen is very well stocked with pots, pans, knives, etc. The girls loved the reclining sofa, seems that maybe on my shopping list now. The house was warm and comfortable, and we all very much enjoyed staying. The hot-tub was definitely a hit too. It was lovely that Jane & Steve are next door, and we enjoyed a little natter across the wall, and of course a fuss with Johnny. I would mention that there is some road noise in the front bedroom at night time, but the view across the golf course is very nice when you open the blinds. We had a great time in the lovely Peak District, made even better by having such a lovely home to go back to and use as our base. Thanks Jane!

We enjoyed a really enjoyable time at the cottage.

After staying in a bunkhouse the previous couple of nights we relished in the luxurious surroundings & were really appreciative of the quaint touches that the hosts had laid on for us. From the lovely soft bath robes to some homemade rocky road snacks & chocolate, it was perfect. xx

The cottage was fab!

It has everything you need, and it is exceptionally clean, modern and well maintained. Jane and Steve the owners live next door with their family and Johnny the cockerpoi, and are so welcoming, helpful and friendly, seeing to your every need. We were welcomed with a lovely cream tea and as it was a minimoon Jane and Steve had gone to the trouble of welcoming us with gifts, how very thoughtful! There was a large helium balloon, bunting, a bottle of prosecco on ice and a gift bag containing gifts and a card . A really lovely and relaxing stay, we enjoyed the hot tub and made new friends, the dogs played happily, what's not to like!
