Description

A mid-terrace cottage in the fascinating, friendly Derbyshire town of Matlock.

With the glorious Peak District National Park close by, this is a charming base from which to explore this fine part of England.

As you climb a few stone steps to the front door of the property, you walk alongside the established front garden which has a dog-friendly ‘pooch patch’ and patio area.

Upon entering the property you are welcomed by a cosy sitting room featuring a wood burner.

After a busy day exploring you can sit back and relax in front of the TV.

Wander through into the delightful and spacious kitchen/diner with its stunning original floor tiles, the gas wood burner brings a sense of comfort while the rustic wooden kitchen is designed to set you up perfectly for your Derbyshire cottage break.

A large map, wall mounted, enables you to plan your next adventure.

Set over three floors, the first floor offers a delightful double bedroom, a stylish twin room and a pristine, all-white family bathroom with shower.

The twin room, with beautiful views of Matlock town, the hills beyond and Riber Castle, has a staircase leading to the converted loft.

The loft room is a spacious double with a contemporary feel, its own TV and a light-filled Velux window.

To the back of the property there is a stone outhouse perfect for storing bicycles, boots and coats.

Up a set of stone steps, you will find a serene raised patio where you can kick back and relax together.

This cottage reflects the history of John Smedley who is a key figure in Matlock history, with features such as the cotton mill bobbins.

Take the stroll into the centre of wonderful Matlock, a town offering a wide variety of places to eat, drink and shop as well as Lumsdale Falls, the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom on offer close by.

The neighbouring Matlock Bath is a fabulous spot to visit.

Venture into the Peak District National Park for awe-inspiring walking and cycling, you can also easily find the marvellous market town of Bakewell.

Use this charming terraced cottage as the base for your much-needed retreat in the Peak District.

Lovely cottage, about 10 minutes walk into the centre.

Good value and full of character. The Sycamore Inn close by was good food. Only points stopping a higher recommendation rating are 1. the parking- just one space, and someone else had parked in that. Street parking was challenging on a Friday evening. 2. The layout. You cannot access the bathroom or stairs from the top bedroom, without walking through the twin room. Not a disaster but a bit weird. 3. There was milk provided, which is fantastic, plus tea and coffee. Coffee seemed a bit old though. 4. Shower leaked a bit. But we had a great stay.

Lovely cottage, access is a little awkward and neighbours do not appear to be tolerant of the parking, there was a neighbour parked in the space allocated in the information, they advised us it is not a given space.
