A comfortable, beautifully maintained property in a lovely area, with great hosts.

There were lots of little touches that we don't expect, but were a super bonus - dishwasher tablets, laundry pods and a wonderful welcome pack. The bedrooms are comfortable and bathrooms lovely. Great walks from the door, and a variety of transport options if you don't want to drive. We didn't want to leave! What better recommendation could we give? Thank you!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Smithy, a clean and well-maintained holiday cottage whose location is perfect for walkers visiting the area.

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the attention to detail and the overall condition of the property. The cottage itself was spotless, with every room meticulously cleaned and organised. The kitchen was fully equipped with modern appliances and all the necessary utensils, making it easy to prepare meals during my stay. The living/dining area was cozy, and comfortable for 2, perfect for relaxing after a day of walking in the surrounding area. The cottage overlooked the owners beautifully kept garden, and provided a small slate area outside for personal use. The position by the passing road did cause some lost sleep especially early morning, but I am a light sleeper. The host was welcoming and provided helpful information about local attractions and amenities. Communication was seamless, ensuring that my stay was as enjoyable as possible. Overall, I highly recommend for anyone looking for a clean, well-maintained holiday cottage experience. Whether you're planning a family getaway or a solo retreat, this cottage offers a delightful and comfortable stay. I look forward to visiting again in the future!

Very comfortable, well maintained, very well equipped ( particularly the kitchen) , very clean & tidy and spacious .

Good walking on numerous footpaths that lead from the village. Very useful/important having off-road parking too as the village is a little bit short of kerbside parking. Good location for us as climbers as their are so many of the best crags in the Peaks very close at hand.

Location is superb for exploring the Peak District.

Accomodation was very comfortable. Village shops are limited.

This is one of the best holiday cottage we have stayed in, you cannot want for anything it is very well equipped and very clean indeed.

You are based in a good position for walking alongside the river in our case but also for climbing to higher levels for those that want. Chatsworth Estate, Bakewell and Monsal Trail are all nearby. We received the best welcome pack we have ever had and look forward returning.

Absolutely amazing property .

Perfect in every way. Home from home and more. Highly recommend. Look no further if you want Peak District holiday. Beds are so comfortable and both double rooms have their own en suite. Owners next door are there if you need them,but not intrusive whatsoever. We are two ladies and had a room each but brilliant to for two couples.

A spotlessly clean, all white cottage.

Everything worked fine. The location is the joy of the place, many walks straight out of the door, beside the Derwent or up onto the edges. During the October nights we heard the Red Deer stags roaring as the rut began.

extremely clean and well stocked .Our only problem was the close proximity to the road, but that is probably because we live in the countryside with no noise at all. The welcome pack was fabulous.

Excellent also for disabled use which is why we chose The Smithy. Lovey location. Convenient for any sightseeing for walkers, cyclists and drivers. Lots of lovely coffee shops and eateries within a short distance. We only have one minor detail to mention and that is that a full lenght mirror would be an advantage for us ladies.

A double and a twin bedded room would provide more flexible accommodation for families.

A bit of luxury in the heart of the beautiful Peak District. So well equipped. And a generous welcome hamper. Made us feel very special!

The photos suggested a larger outside seating area.

We were disappointed that it was a small table and chairs tucked behind the cottage. Also, there was a footpath to one side and a play area behind, both of which overlooked the seating area. The cottage was on the main road too. Overall, we just didn't feel able to relax outside.

Lovely property in central location.

Well appointed and of a high standard. Some road noise and limited outdoor space with lack of privacy. Would return again. Owners very welcoming.

Large parking area for one car at the side of the property. A second car can park with ease, safely on the road, next to the cottage. The kitchen is very modern, with quality appliances and all the utensils you need. Both bathrooms are very modern, with powerful showers. Both bedrooms are a good size (we took a blow up bed for our son and there was still room to move around the room) One bedroom/bathroom is downstairs which was perfect for 86 year old grandad (no stairs to climb) Both bedrooms had hairdryers There was a strong bike store with lock - real bonus The owners garden is your main outlook and the flower beds are stunning! Amazing base for walking and cycling. There are National Trust properties near by and RHS partner gardens. Chatsworth House is a short drive away. Really small playground at the back of the cottage, great for U10's This cottage was outstandingly clean throughout, plus very tastefully decorated. Overall we would highly recommend this property. The only issue/down side to the property for us was the bedroom windows either had blinds or curtains on the windows. (but not both) The light came through the edges of the blinds/curtains from about 4.45am each morning, waking us up and having a real impact on the quality of our sleep throughout our stay. Probably the cleanest and best equipped cottage I have ever stayed in.

The welcome hamper was a nice touch too - Prosecco, bread, milk, biscuits, butter tea and coffee. Would highly recommend.

The property was beautiful prepared, the excellent furnishings and cleanliness was of the highest quality, we loved the welcome pack, pleasantly surprised with the real butter, milk and bread, and a bottle of wine, the property situated on main rd, not a busy Rd, so not affected by traffic, was perfect for visiting chatsworth, Bakewell and other popular attractions, and great for touring the Peak District, a highly recommended property, with the excellent double rooms with on-suite walk in showers.

A good place to stay.

Smithy is very comfortable and well equipped for an enjoyable stay. Good walks just across the road. Railway station in easy walking distance with access to good walking areas (Edale)if you don't want to take your car. If you want to eat at the king William make sure you book, we went there two nights running, unable to get any food either night. Kitchen shuts at right.

This cottage is a delight to stay in.

It is spotlessly clean and is extremely well equipped. The owner has really gone the extra mile to make sure everything you need, or may need for your stay is provided and of the highest standard. The Welcome basket was a lovely touch, especially the fresh local bread. Loved the Pears soap and hand wash in the bathrooms and the bee cushions on the bed. Cyclists would really appreciate the lockable storage for their bikes and there is a lovely space to sit outside. The perfect place to stay in order to explore the Dales. Thankyou for a wonderful few days.

Only negative was the proximity to the road compounded by more traffic than normal because of a diversion.

We have just returned from a short break and have to shout out about this rental.

First of all a fantastic welcome pack.A lot of thought had gone into this. The Smithy has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The kitchen had everything you would have at home. The bedding and bath towels were luxurious. Spotlessly clean. Yvonne and Paul are fantastic hosts and have thought of everything. This is a gem in a wonderful part of the country. We will definitely be back and wish Yvonne and Paul every success.

We have stayed in many holiday let's over the years but none better than this one!

The property has recently been fully modernised to a very high standard. We were greeted with a welcome pakage which was a lovely touch. This is a new venture for the owners and it's bound to be a huge success. If you are looking for a holiday home to explore the stunning Derbyshire countryside then you really don't need to look any further!
