Description

Bakewell 3.4 miles.

Set in the heart of Great Longstone, a few miles from the town of Bakewell, is this delightful Edwardian cottage, Holmefield.

This property is in a superb location in the heart of the Peak District and has been lovingly renovated by the owner into a stylish and contemporary base for friends and families.

Enter into the property and be welcomed into a spacious kitchen, fitted with pristine white units and sleek wooden worktops hosting all the necessary appliances needed for some home-cooking.

Walk through to the dining room with enough seating for all four guests, an ideal spot for enjoying a family meal, or bring a board game from home for some family fun.

The sitting room is host to a rustic brick chimney breast and a traditional woodburning stove to keep you nice and toasty during the chillier months.

This room also has a delightful window seat which brings a nice aspect to the room and is ideal for curling up with a good book.

Choose from two lovely king-size bedrooms, both boasting zip/link features so they can be twin rooms, perfect for different party types, with the master bedroom enjoying its own en-suite shower room.

The property has a lawn and patio garden area where you can look forward to sitting out in the afternoon sun.

Settled within the charming village of Great Longstone, you are within reach of the delightful White Lion pub where you can sample some local delicacies or enjoy the classic pub food, in addition to the White Lion, Holmfield is next door to the Crispin Pub, which also serves meals and drinks and beer garden.

The nearby market town of Bakewell gives you a larger choice of amenities, particularly excellent for those seeking to splurge and go on a shopping spree.

For the walkers of the group, you can visit Great Longstone which is located about a mile east of Monsal Head, gateway to one of Derbyshire’s best-loved tourist hot-spots, yet mysteriously manages to still be somewhat off the beaten-track, if you have time, do explore this pretty village as there is much to see in terms of historic buildings, notably the magnificent hall and the sturdy-looking parish church of St Giles, which dates back to the 13th century.

There are a whole host of attractions within driving distance such as the 16th century Chatsworth House and the medieval manor house at Haddon Hall, perfect for those keen history lovers among you.

Holmefield is the perfect property for remote holidays.

Very cosy cottage with most things supplied for a holiday stay.

Perhaps a kitchen roll holder, new pillows. The outside light either requires a replacement bulb or faulty wiring - the light came on when exiting the cottage but didn’t come on when returning. Great location for pubs and walking.

Beautiful house in lovely surroundings, Great Longstone is a great location.

However the house instructions mentioned a green food recycling bin & an insert to go in the blue bin - couldn’t find either of those. The grey rubbish bin was already full. The confirming email said there would be a starter pack for the fire & there wasn’t one. The heating comes on around 6.15 in the evening & is then nice & warm but it’s really chilly by about 5pm & you can’t put the heating on because you need a pin no. Maybe some throws in the living room would help? Something has happened in the 2nd bedroom - Which im assuming is awaiting repair. The squeegee in downstairs bathroom is mouldy. The shower hose in en-suite is black. The windows really need a clean. But the house is lovely - recommend The Crispin & The Packhorse in Little Longstone. Enjoyed the walks on the Monsal Trail & Bakewell is lovely. Maybe also put the parking instructions on the confirmation email - we parked in the wrong place initially.

We recently stayed in Great Longstone, at holmefield cottage, and the location could not have been better!

There is so much to do, so many incredible places to visit, and endless walks right on your doorstep. During our stay, we visited **Chatsworth**, walked up **Longstone Edge**, and explored the **Monsal Trail**. You can also head down to **Hassop Station** if you want to hire bikes, and the café at **Thornbridge Hall** is well worth a visit too. If you're looking for great food, you are spoilt for choice—the **Packhorse Inn** was fantastic, and **Monsal Head** is just one of a few brilliant spots nearby to grab a bite with a stunning view. ### The Cottage The cottage itself was lovely. It is incredibly spacious, fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the beds were very comfortable. We had a great night's sleep after all our walking! Areas for Improvement.. My only major disappointment was the outdoor space. We happened to visit during a heatwave, so the garden should have been the ideal place to relax. Unfortunately, the garden furniture was in desperate need of a good clean and some treatment. Even though seat pads were provided, we found the furniture too grubby to actually sit on. The driveway could also really use a thorough jet wash. It’s a wonderful house in a spectacular location. If they clean up the garden furniture, I would absolutely book to stay here again!
