Betty's Barn

Lovely barn conversion.

Very quiet position but with interesting views and activities such as stables with beautiful horses. The furnishings were tasteful and the bedrooms separated by an unusual double staircase, keeping the bedrooms very separate. Would recommend this holiday accommodation.

We all had a wonderful time, the accommodation was lovely, very clean and immaculate, very cosy, everything we needed.

The 2 dogs loved the walks, we looked around at all the animals including hand feeding the peacocks and seeing the horses, Kim, the owner gave us a lovely welcome, nothing was too much trouble

Everything about this accommodation was wonderful and we wish we could have stayed a lot longer.

The location was stunning, the hosts were friendly and welcoming, the accommodation was beautiful, clean, comfortable and very homely with everything you could ask for. Could not have asked for anything more. 10/10.

A lovely stay at a lovely premise.

We absolutely loved it and wouldn't hesitate to come again. It was lovely having the seating outside and looking over the fields whilst sitting having a coffee.

Exceptionally clean property and well presented.

The outdoor furniture is not very comfortable if you want to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine for any length of time, something with a backrest would be more suitable. On arrival the biscuits were nice but a pint of milk and some teabags / coffee would be great as it is 5 miles down very narrow lanes to the nearest shop

We loved our holiday in this idyllic, peaceful, country setting.

The surrounding scenery is beautiful, with an abundance of walks, and the small towns and villages are picture postcard perfect. As a party of 5 (two adults, two teenagers, and a ten year old) the house suited us very well; we didn't feel that we were on top of each other. The children loved seeing the peacocks, the other birds, and the horses. The kitchen was well equipped. We arrived during a heatwave and the owners had provided two fans, which were very welcome. We were very comfortable at Betty's Barn. In the end we didn't have our dog with us on holiday, but if we had we think she would have been very comfortable here, too, and made to feel welcome. It was very good value for money. We'd not visited Shropshire before but it's a beautiful part of the world. We would definitely return.

We had a really nice week in Betty's Barn which is comfortable and well equipped, and would love to come back perhaps in spring or autumn when it is cool enough to do more walking!

The accuracy of the listing is the only category which I feel didn't deserve 10/10 because it is a little out of date. The details about the cottage were ok but the listing says that there is a pub within 2.5 miles - sadly now closed since 2022.

The cottage is a gem in a superb location.

It is spacious with lots of storage space in a quiet location. You can see horses from the door and listen to the birds. A minor issue with the toilet was dealt with promptly. There are lots of lovely walks nearby. We would definitely recommend.

Such a beautiful place and so incredibly peaceful.

Enjoyed our short break, cottage was very clean, had slight problem with heating but was sorted by owner.

Great property, idyllic surroundings and the onsite walks are amazing.

Host knocked to see if we had settled in ok and was lovely, friendly lady. Would easily suit 2 couples sharing as both bedrooms essentially have own bathroom (one is ensuite while other has bathroom with huge bath and is next to the bedroom) or easily accommodate a family of more than four (both bedrooms have a double and single bed and are large rooms). Parking is ample, no tight squeezes ! We hope to go back and will definitely recommend to friends/family. Great value for money. Peacocks, horses visible all day from cottage windows and there is a great little friendly chicken who is a ‘right character’! - also saw pheasants, squirrels, birds of prey, hares and could hear woodpecker tapping on the walk at the rear of the owners farmhouse. Dog friendly, our Sharpei absolutely loved it there, shame we had to leave to come back to reality ! Nearest town is Church Stretton which is 4/5 country lane miles away and has a good pub with food (Kings Arms) and has takeways (fish n chips, chinese, kebab, indian) and several other pubs and coffee shops. Ludlow, Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury easy driving distance and all worth a visit. Carding Mill walk brilliant. Perfect base for walkers, dog owners - miles of countryside to explore/ riverside walks etc. All in all, marvellous !

We had a lovely stay, the cottage was warm, comfy and cosy.

The view of the horses was great. Wish we could have stayed longer to really make the most of the area. We'll be back for sure.

Beautiful Barn.

Friendly but not intrusive host. Horses were beautiful as was scenery. 10/10 would recommend! Clean, quaint but spacious and very relaxing. Kids loved the board games!

Great facilities. Very clean. Nice and quiet. Lovely walks. Friendly host Liz. I feel I should mention the B roads that lead to Betty's barn are very narrow includes some blind bends which can be quite stressful and quite dangerous. Caution is advised. This did impact negatively on our stay. If not for the roads (which can't be helped) We would definitely have return for another stay.

Betty's Barn was in a wonderful setting, the accomodation was well furnished and equipped and everything was spotlessly clean.

The garden and grounds were beautiful and it was wonderful to see the horses when waking up in the morning. It provided a great base for our walking holiday, close to the start of our walks and near to where our other walking group members were staying. The accomodation was a credit to the owners.

Very comfortable, and larger than I expected.

It's a stables/ livery so busier than I expected, but far from intrusive. I wanted to walk Wenlock Edge but footpaths are little used and some are overgrown. Even with OS mapping and GPS, I did a fair bit of backtracking. Worth it for the very pretty scenery and vintage buildings.

Second time staying here, lovely cottage, central for visiting places.

Was told to make ourselves at home, able to see the animals and able to use the fabulous garden, was even able to feed Peter the peacock which the children loved. Would like to thank Liz for a lovely welcome, we hope to book again for next year.

The hosts are friendly and made us feel so welcome. The cottage itself is refurbished to be modern and comfortable. The place is spacious with plenty of room. Everything was perfect.

two fireside chairs would have been appreciated as the two settees are far to low for 80year olds

A beautiful and well equipped barn conversion in a spectacular location.

The property was really well equipped but unfortunately the seating in the lounge was very uncomfortable and very low which made it extremely difficult to get out of.

We did enjoy the peace and quiet of the location and we managed to explore some nice areas of Shropshire despite the weather.

Betty’s Barn is a lovely end of terrace cottage in a great area for a relaxing break.

The Stables opposite provided lovely sights & activity to watch. Chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks added to the beautiful nature. Wellies are a great thing to pack. Lovely walks from the cottage. Excellent parking. Easy check in via key safe & responsive owners to any issues. Although ‘dog friendly’ there was no dog smell or evidence until we used the hoover…we emptied it as it was left full & a quick hoover completely filled it again - we are pet free. Therefore cleanliness looked great, until we used the hoover. A delicious packet of Shrewsbury biscuits was on the table for our arrival. We took all condiments with us & all containers were empty. Lovely open plan downstairs. 2 spacious bedrooms, each with 1 double & 1 single bed, one with ensuite shower, the other has a lovely big bath with no shower but it is not ensuite. Plenty of toilet rolls & towels were available. Heating is excellent and the cottage is lovely & warm. Downstairs toilet is a great bonus. We struggled with the 2 very low & deep sofas but others have commented on their comfort. Thank you for a relaxing break in lovely area.

Large Open plan ground floor, 2 x comfy sofa's. well equipped kitchen. Spacious Bedrooms, Large Bathroom, en-suite a little small for tall people, but perfectly acceptable. Everywhere was spotless Owners available as required, but not intrusive. would recommended

So enjoyable being able to watch the busyness of the stables and explore the gardens and woods. Liz is a really nice lady and everyone was so friendly. Hope we can make it back real soon. Gogfrey, Carolyn and Matthew.

Excellent location.

Betty’s Barn has been designed to a high standard. Very well equipped, especially the kitchen. Also appreciated lots of drawer space and plenty of coat hangers! Very clean. Owners very helpful and friendly. Hoping to return next year to visit all the places we didn’t manage to get to this time.

I had expected the Private Patio to be fenced and as it was not we could not let the dog out in the early morning/night without getting dressed.

My mistake but an enclosed area would have been useful. From a personal point of view I would have also liked additional recycling facilities as I recycle just about everything at home!

We loved our stay at Betty's Barn.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable. Countryside all around is stunning. What makes Betty's Barn so special is the wonderful family that own and run it. Never intrusive, but always so welcoming. We honestly felt like we were staying with friends. If you have children they will love all the animals. We will definitely be going back.

My friend and I loved the cottage, spacious and with everything that we needed in the kitchen and elsewhere in the house.

Plenty of hot water for a bath, comfortable sofas and the renovation was of a very high standard.

Wonderful holiday cottage, we all loved it especially the garden area and huge wildlife pond.

. So very comfortable with a real chefs kitchen, not far from Church Stretton but surrounded by beautiful countryside. Lovely to arrive back after a day out and get a welcome from the ponies, peacocks, ducks and dogs. We will be back again, thanks so much.

Some additional kitchen utensils like a chopping board and some more teaspoons would have been great.

Also, enough hot water to fill the bath - to be fair the bath was very big though. Other than that, and these are very small things, everything was great.

This is a lovely cottage in a lovely area with lots of great walks near by.

I would especially rate the Long Myndd and Much Wenlock as really nice walks. Also just 30 minutes away by car is the Ironbridge George which I would also recommend. My only comment about the accommodation is I could not find the black binder with all the instructions for the cottage and what to do when you check out. Other than that it was excellent. I hope to come back someday in the future.

We had a great stay at Betty’s Barn.

The Christmas tree and decorations were a lovely welcoming touch. The cottage was spacious, clean, characterful, and well-equipped. Our dog loved the walks around the garden and woodland - we were a bit concerned about not having an enclosed garden, but there is a shared lawn area at the front and this was fine keeping her on a long lead. Lovely to see the horses (stables just opposite the cottages) and everyone we met was very friendly. There is a 10min drive through single track lanes to get to the farm from Church Stretton, where we were visiting family. Great if you want to get away from everything, see the stars and hear the owls at night!

The building was warm with heating on 24 hours It is fully equipped the Wi-Fi is fast I would recommend you take wellington boots As it is a working farm The roads get muddy A great holiday in December

Betty's Barn far exceeded our expectations!

It is in a wonderful setting surrounded by open countryside. The cottage is warm, cosy and well equiped. It is spotlessly clean. It really has a lovely feel to it! The bed was very comfortable and there is a shower in the ensuite and a huge bath in the seperate bathroom. There are walks from the house, we walked to Wenlock Edge from the door. There are also marked paths through the woods behind the farm, great for a morning walk with the dog! It is short drive to Church Stretton where there are many great walks. We had a lovely week at Betty's Barn and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Super clean and comfortable. Everything you need for a great holiday. Beautifully situated for peace and quiet. Friendly owners. On the clear nights, the stars are amazing as there is no light pollution. Recommended for anyone who loves peace and quiet with great walking nearby. I'm sure we'll return again!

Cottage well equiped .

Nice layout and clean everywhere. A low step from kitchen to lounge area and to the rest of the property . Only two niggles i had was the dirty oven and very bright bedroom ceiling blinds. Double set of internal stairs with handrails to bedrooms and bathrooms. Both upstairs bedrooms were on eitherside of the property. Each room had a double and a single bed which were firm with nice bedding. There were early morning sounds and activites from wildlife and the stables behind the property so not as quiet as we thought though this didnt spoil our holiday. The property literaly backs onto the lane and is not fenced from the road. Only one side of the property is for outside sitting in the small grassed area. It faces onto the horse fields and gets the sunshine which is very pleasant. The property location is great for all the attractions and beautiful sceenery.

I cannot fault the lovely 7 Day stay that I had with my Mum.

The property owner/s and families are all so lovely and welcoming that we could not wish for more. Just the right balance of being there if we needed them. The environment is wonderful and Betty's Barn can accommodate for up to 6 People. There is onsite parking too which is a huge plus. I cannot wait to return sometime in the near future.

The owners are very welcoming and helpful and the cottage was very spacious, clean and well appointed.

It is in a lovely quiet rural location but only a short drive from Church Stretton where there are restaurants, pubs, deli, supermarket, etc. The beautiful village of Much Wenlock and the impressive Ludlow are only are also close by. All in all a perfect base for a countryside break and great for walking.

An extremely well appointed accommodation and very up to date look.

We all loved it and hope to revisit Betty's Barn next year sometime.

A perfect place to stay for recharging your batteries watching the horses. A beautiful piece of paradise in the Shropshire countryside. Absolutely nothing to say other than try keeping me away. Would recommend if you like space around you and you and your kids are animal lovers then you will be totally at peace here. Wild animals wouldn't keep me away and I used to use another holiday provider but not any more. Sykes cottages all the way from now on.

My Husband & I (with Dog Joey) could not fault the location, property and concept of our Holiday at Betty's Barn.

Quiet location ideal for Shropshire Market Towns e.g. Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Church Stretton, Ironbridge & Shrewsbury (although the list is endless). Everyone we had contact with linked to this property and establishment were friendly and welcoming too.

This is a lovely, comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage.

It had everything we needed for our stay. The location is beautiful and quiet; there was no noise or disturbance from the activities of the riding stables or the adjoining cottages. A lovely stay thank you

Lovely dog-friendly barn conversion in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Very spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. Even better than the pictures on the website. As a city dweller it was wonderful to see stars with no light pollution on the clearer nights! Easy drive to great walks along Wenlock Edge and Long Mynd and other Stretton Hills. Would definitely return. In fact, I am about to book again for 2022!

A cozy, clean, well equipped cottage - tick! The most stunning natural surroundings including New Hall gardens which is simply magical - tick! An amazing welcoming and warm, helpful family (both young and old) that adds a wonderful dimension to your holiday - tick! A perfect balance for those that enjoy nature, walking, small villages and historical towns, home comforts and so, so much more.

We chose the accommodation sleeping 5 although we are a couple because we prefer space and it suited us very well and was well equipped for our needs.

We felt safe and comfortable during the current pandemic conditions and really enjoyed our short break away from home.

We had a wonderful stay at Bettys Barn, just perfect, such a relaxing place to stay.

Beautiful scenery right out in the countryside, views of the sheep in the field, horses in the livery stables, large collection of Different birds; ducks, hens, peacocks, finches, owl. Lovely walks around the area with the dogs including the owners large garden with lake & woodland. So many places of interest to visit in & around the area. Would love to come back in a couple of years to just chill out again & relax.

We’ve stayed in quite a lot of self catering flats and cottages over the years, but Betty’s Barn is by far the best we’ve experienced.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and extremely roomy. Mrs Kite had put a Christmas tree up for the previous occupants and left it there for us to enjoy! On the table were 4 boxes with lots of chocolate treats and 3 small bottles of wine. What a lovely surprise! We certainly enjoyed bringing in the New year! On New Year’s Day, Mrs Kite came over to wish us a happy New Year and invited us to come and meet the horses etc. We were feeding the peacocks peanuts, which is something I have never done before! My daughter and I walked round their private gardens, absolutely beautiful! The peace and quiet certainly was most welcoming. Will definitely recommend.

Betty’s barn is a fantastic holiday let ,very comfortable we had Christmas week there and it was great there was four of us and one dog and we were able to go for walks from the doorstep which was great .

The owners Kim and her mum Liz were very nice anything we wanted we only just had to ask and we had a lovely welcome when we got there . Lovely property, very spacious and homely feel.

A lovely clean spacious cottage.

Just the right place to have peace and quiet. However not far from a lovely place by the name of Church Stretton. Fantastic holiday would recommend to anyone.

A very comfortable and clean cottage, larger than expected, for a family with a 3 year old and 9 month old, plus grandparents.

Central to visit the beautiful countryside and National Trust Properties. 3 year loved the animals especially when the dogs and peacocks came to visit. Lovely garden to visit behind the house. One negative it could do with another set of mugs and large plates so that two meals times could be washed at same time in dishwasher. Otherwise one of the best properties we have stayed in over the last 20 years.

Betty's Barn at New Hall Farm in Eaton-under-Heywood is one of our favourite holiday cottages.

Spacious, well equipped. Lovely garden walk on the property and very entertaining birds and animals are some of the special features. And we don't even ride horses or own dogs! This was our 2nd stay and we still have many more places to explore in the Shropshire Hills and East Wales.

This last minute booking couldn't have been easier.

The accomodation was exactly as described. Very happy. Highly recommended!

Fantastic cottage but a nightmare to get to It was in the middle of nowhere and for about 5 miles it was a single track road with very bad pot holes which we couldn’t see It caused damage to our car as the puddle was a very deep pot hole which we hit

My daughter, baby grandson and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, everything was as we expected, it was comfortable, warm,had everything in the cottage we needed.

We loved the garden walk and all the feathered friends in the aviary. Would stay a gain and certainly recommend it to others.

Betty's Barn is a gem of a cottage, beautifully renovated, but keeping it's charm and character.

It is spacious, warm and cosy and the owners are very friendly and welcoming - there if you need them, but always respectful of guests' privacy. It is in a wonderful location and the woodland walks within the grounds were perfect for our dogs - keep a lookout for the intersting sculptures dotted around! The surrounding countryside was an artist's palette of wonderful Autumn colours and we were lucky with the weather which, although cold and crisp early morning, developed into days that were warm, bright and sunny - what a fantastic time of year this is to visit! It is within easy reach of a variety of interesting places, Carding Mill Valley and Gigrin Farm Red Kite Centre being our particular favourites, but can also recommend Ludlow Food Centre and restaurant. We would definitely return to Betty's Barn and have already recommended it to family and friends and would like to thank the Vine-Kite family for an absolutely wonderful holiday!

Delightful rural setting and a very comfortable cottage.

The family are a delight, nothing was too much trouble to ensure our holiday went smoothly. It is one of the best places we have stayed in and will certainly return. The flowers and biscuits on arrival were an extra unexpected touch. Thank you Kim and family for being such nice people.

This was probably the best cottage we have stayed in for our breaks.

Lovely location, beautiful places to visit very close by. A very comfortable and relaxing cottage, everything has been thought of to enrich your holiday and nothing is too much trouble for Liz and Kim. Thanks to them for the flowers and biscuits, a very nice touch on arrival. If you want a pet friendly, quiet and tranquil location, then this is for you, the birds, horses and animals on the farm are a bonus.

The owners of the property were so helpful and welcoming.

Nothing was too much trouble, we only needed to ask and it was there. The local woodland walk was well signposted and easily accessible. Our elderly mother thoroughly enjoyed the experience particularly the peacocks and chucks. The horses were an added bonus for her entertainment. The downstairs cloakroom was great for the elderly and infirmed who might struggle with the stairs too often. Overall a tranquil experience.

A super cottage with very friendly people running it.

You just had to ask if you wanted anything. Took my grandson around the farm closing the birds up at night and collecting the eggs. He said it was brill. My grandson definitely wants to go back there again and there is still so much to see in the area that we never got to. Only 2 points I would like to make are that 1 of the bathrooms is not truly en-suite as you have to go out of the bedroom to get to it and the other there was no details of items to be recycled.
