Kite's Nest

A lovely cottage nice out look on to field's with horses running around nice walks and place's to visit, Ludlow with it's lovely church, Ironbridge is a really nice village and Church Streton was good for shopping.

The cottage could do with a little tidy,ie a new shower head , taps in the bathroom sink and a up to date TV, all so a better information pack as to what is a round the owners are very helpful and we will return soon .

A lovely clean property with splendid views, the cottage was well equipped and the owner was very nice, but for us one of the biggest things was the grounds where we could take our dog for a walk, I found a little walk for first thing in the morning and it was just a 1-mile circuit and that was only scratching the surface of the walks you could do.

A perfect countryside location where you can relax and enjoy nature, The owners were very welcoming.

Kites Nest lived up to our two previous visits and provided a comfortable holiday escape to wind down and enjoy the our hobby of hiking again.

the local amenities convenienly close and the Kings Arms food being of excellent quality.

Had everything we needed for a week away .

A lovely quiet spot in the countryside which we have already booked for another week in the summer. Need we say more. Thoroughly recomended

We had a wonderful weekend at Kites Nest.

The ground floor accommodation is on the small side but had everything needed for 2 people with 2 small dogs! The first floor, bedroom & bathroom are really spacious & comfortable. The property is in a most beautiful setting with fabulous walks from the door and within easy driving distance of plenty of fantastic places of interest to visit. We were made to feel very welcome and would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Very comfortable stay, helpful and friendly owner.

A lovely situation.

Kites Nest was the perfect escape.

The cottage was immaculate, offering a clean and cozy base for our adventures. We had carding mill valley a 15 minute drive away as well as Stokesay castle. Further out was attingham park which was beautiful to see and walk around the house and grounds. About an hours drive away was Powis castle which was one of the highlights of our trip. The hospitality really made our trip with the owner making sure we had everything we needed the first night and if the heating was just right. She also recommended taking a trip around the grounds, which was beautifully maintained and a peaceful evening walk. I especially loved watching the horses graze in the field opposite and would often in the evening sit outside and listen to the geese or birds chirping. It was a refreshing and peaceful break. Thank you so much!

very confortable property equiped with everything youneed for your stay .

Good parking and in a quiet location

My wife and I love Shropshire and found this delightful venue on Sykes listing.

It was cosy and warm - ideal given the wet/ cold weather outside. It offers great walking but unfortunately we couldn't due to weather. However, it is well place for days out to the National Trust. The owner was very friendly and provided all the things you forget to pack. Would recommend.

A lovely, well equipped, comfortable cottage, made even better when we found out the settee was a bed settee and we could stretch out and snuggle up to watch tv!

Lovely surroundings and good communication from hosts when I sent some questions. I would happily stay there again.

We had a perfect stay—thank you!

We hope to return in the future.

Lovely little cottage, nice and clean and warm.

Equipped with everything that you need. Lovely outlook onto the horses fields

LOVELY PLACE TO STAY, LOVED THE ANIMALS AROUND THE COTTAGE, WILL STAY HERE AGAIN IF IN THE AREA,

Lovely, well equipped clean cottage in peaceful surroundings next to owners farm.

There was access to their garden which was an added bonus, especially for my dogs. Hoping to visit again as it is a stunning area.

Just arrived back from Kites nest after a fantastic weeks holiday.

The cottage was lovely with everything you would need very clean and great WiFi. The Manor House and grounds are absolutely gorgeous. It’s also a great location to explore the surrounding areas and towns. We highly recommend this cottage.

Absolutely ideal accommodation for two people.

Well equipped kitchen area, with toaster, microwave and a brilliant fridge freezer, plus a dishwasher too (we didn't use it!!). Very comfortable bed, and a brilliant shower. Plus a beautiful quiet location. Couldn't ask for more!!

We had a great week at Kite’s Nest, a compact but comfortable cottage.

The owners were friendly and the opportunity to walk in their extensive gardens was a lovely bonus. We also enjoyed seeing all the animals

Kites nest was simply stunning.

A beautiful property with gorgeous surroundings. Liz and Kim were very friendly and made us feel right at home. Nothing was too much trouble and we were sorry to leave such a wonderful place. The farm with the peacocks, ducks, owl, chickens, hens and horses etc was really such entertainment to watch all the activity going on yet so peaceful to be there. Thank you Liz,Kim and family and everyone at the farm for making our holiday unforgettable. We will be back soon. Paul,Glyn and Smokey.

Fantastic place lovely owners home from home would definitely stay again highly recommend peaceful relaxing didn't want to leave definitely be back thanks

The property met our requirements ,the owners are friendly and helpful, when we suffered a power cut on our last night the issue was dealt with quickly and soon resolved.

The advice re local amenities very informative and useful. we really enjoyed our stay and the many local walks in the area, I can recommend The Kings Arms in Church Stretton for it's food the portions were generous, it is also very dog friendly our dog minstrel loved it. Barbara and Ken Gegg

We loved our stay at Kites Nest.

Peaceful location. Well equipped, clean cottage. Had some lovely days out and some quiet time at the property. Owner welcoming and very helpful.

Lovely cottage on a farm with good views at the front.

Ideal for a relaxing and quite break and great surrounding area

Lovely accommodation in a great location with beautiful sunsets and had the pleasure of a peacock visiting us on two mornings, Liz the owner was very friendly and helpful, we look forward to returning.

This is our second visit to Kites nest and both experiences have been excellent.

We love the area with great walking and lovely tea shops. And the accommodation is perfect for a could - very well planned so it is really spacious upstairs and downstairs

The cottage was warm and welcoming, it has everything you want from a small holiday home.

Contact with the owners was excellent, they were especially caring and supportive during storms that cut the power (we were still comfortable) it was lovely watching the peacocks strutting there stuff and the activities at the stables. Unfortunately the weather was not conducive to walking in the woods etc, but i am sure its lovely. I have no hesitation recommending.

A lovely cottage in a very tranquil location.

A lovely couple of days at Kite’s Nest, we will be back and would highly recommend, everything was perfect - thank you

Lovely peaceful spacious well maintained cosy cottage, featuring all the comforts of home, in idyllic surroundings.

The property was spotless and the owner was welcoming and on hand to answer any questions. The walks through the gardens and woodland were beautiful. Church Stretton with its lovely pubs, cafés, shops and stunning walks up the Carding Mill Valley and across Longmynd is just a short drive away. The property is highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at Kite's Nest, the property was comfortable and well maintained with the facilities we needed.

Right on Wenlock Edge so lots of walking available right on the doorstep, without even having to drive to them, Church Stretton a short drive away is beautiful with plenty of walking and all the amenities for needs, pubs and places to eat. Visits to Ludlow and Welshpool, Little Stretton All Stretton many places to see. The owner and staff on New Hall Farm are welcoming and friendly, lots of animals, horses dogs and even Peacocks living on the farm were a delight.

The criticisms: Front door didn't close properly so a draft.

Lots of dead flies on windowsills. could have done with a bigger bath mat in the bath. The good: Lovey well equipped little cottage which, apart from above, was warm and comfortable. I would recommend to friends and family

Fantastic property that has a wonderful location surrounded by wonderful countryside.

The cottage is perfect for one or two to stay in features all the comforts you would expect. Well cleaned property and the owner was lovely and there was a nice welcome to the property. Would highly recommend as a place to stay

Kite's Nest was a perfect place for a half term break for us - perfectly equipped and really spacious for 2, and set in a beautiful valley with walks from the door.

We loved it.

Both of us and our 2 Labs Bonnie & Bracken loved our stay.

The walks through the gardens and woodland were perfect. The cottage had everything we needed and was very warm and cosy. I enjoyed watching the young pony riders on the Saturday morning and John loved his visit to Luke’s blacksmith workshop. This is a great centre for visiting Shropshire. The wildlife and the dark skies are perfect for any nature lover. So nice to be visited by the host to check everything was to our liking.

Third consecutive November we have stayed at Kite's Nest.

A lovely, peaceful environment, close to Church Stretton and other Shropshire attractions. The farmhouse gardens have to be seen to be believed. Hopefully be back again to this lovely home-from-home.

This barn conversion is as good as anything we have come across and the lady owner is lovely, Ideal if you want a quiet secluded holiday.

Wonderful place to stay near Church Stretton.

Cosy, comfortable; all the facilities you could need to self cater. Very comfortable bed, loads of hot water and spacious for a 1 bed property. Easy parking. Lovely hosts who were very responsive to any queries. Highly recommended.

Had a fantastic stay.

Lovely and quiet. Really comfy bed. Was nice to watch the horse riders having their lessons. Would recommend a stay here.

A lovely property in idyllic surroundings.

Wonderful hosts. Had a really lovely stay and would love to return.

Kites Nest, was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed There were lots of animals horses, dogs , cats and lots with feathers.

Lovely very large garden which we were allowed to use. Liz was very helpful and let us borrow her dog Mia as our dog was a bit nervous , so she came with us on a walk. Great holiday!

A really enjoyed our time staying at Kite's Nest and would thoroughly recommend for those who would appreciate this peaceful part of Shropshire.

Kite's Nest was comfortable, very well equipped and we knew the owners were close by if we needed anything. It's an ideal base for beautiful walks and exploring further afield and we hope to visit again!

We have been to Kite’s Nest many times, and will continue to go.

We have a dog and love to walk around the gardens, and the lake. The cottage is great with everything you need in it. The setting is very peaceful, and many walks around. This time we had a day at Ironbridge, and the Welshpool railway, dogs are aloud. The owner is very friendly and full of advice if needed.

Lovely stay, really well equipped and warm.

Beautiful setting and stunning gardens, set within wonderful countryside, thank you.

Rural retreat exactly what we needed.

Cannot recommend this place enough. Owners were fabulous. Place really clean and everything we needed was supplied. Loved the peace and quiet. Definitely coming back.

Excellent location for exploring the area, quiet and unobtrusive.

Property very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Had a very good five nights stay owners were very welcoming.

Lots of walks to go on with two small dogs we had with us and was very peaceful and quiet.

Comfortable and clean and lovely rural location.

A great area for walking with literally dozens of paths and bridleways close by. Some information on local facilities (shops, pubs, restaurants etc) would be helpful to 'first timers'. Could also do with some new towels! Slightly disappointed that the owners (who we assumed lived at the adjacent farm) made no contact during our 5 night stay.

Lovely rural property, just right for two plus dog.

Very clean and cosy, well equipped and friendly and helpful owners. Loved watching the horses and ponies in the stable yard, and the peacock and peahen, owl and assorted fowl!

We had a lovely few days The cottage was everything it said it would be and more Owners were very welcoming Really enjoyed our break quiet and peaceful I am sure we will be returning

Hello very pleasant stay, lovely surroundings ,very peaceful ,would definitely stay there again.

great stay in the rural cottage, loved the accommodation and the local farm.

From the first day, kim made us feel welcome and recommended places to go. loved chatting to the farm workers and mutley made a few new dog and horse friends as well. if you decide to stay, would recommend you download the o.s maps (its free) and can enjoy the countryside with confidence. Colin and Mutley

Overall a lovely stay, and a very clean and sufficiently equipped property.

One complaint (and we did leave it in the visitors book) the upstairs heating was not god enough in the winter. As much as we tried we could not get the upstairs warm compared to the downstairs. It could have been something we were doing. It would not stop us booking again. The location was perfect for a quiet get away and also walking in the local area. Plus a bonus they accepted dogs. Thank you.

2nd visit to this place, we love it.

The area is lovely and peaceful, the cottage is clean, warm and comfy, the location is a great base to explore the area. Ticks all boxes. We will be back again!

Spent a week at Kites Nest in June '22.

Now, perhaps I should keep quiet about this place, don't want to encourage others to stay here and spoil it! You may have read many of the other reviews explaining just how great this place is, the friendliness of the owners, cleanliness etc. etc. and I can assure you that all are perfectly true. You may also have notices the two that stand out to me - a complaint that the sofa is 'too low' and another moaning about the potholes on the tiny rural roads. GET A LIFE!! This group of very rural cottages is fabulous! True, perhaps not the best place if you have mobility difficulties or expect to glide along trunk roads in your Porsche, or don't want your little Pomeranian to get her paws dirty! And don't moan about the cockerel crowing, waking you early in the morning. But, if - like me - you enjoy the rural life and long rural walks in the beautiful countryside and woodlands; somewhere your well behaved dogs will be just as welcome as you are...look no further. It's a few miles to the shops and the pub (you can walk up an appetite getting there). At about six or so in the morning the mist is lifting off Wenlock Edge as you walk up to give your dogs a good run through the woods, a truly beautiful sight; fresh, clean air and complete peace. Or, if you prefer, a quick tour round the beautiful private garden and woodlands before breakfast. Kites Nest is small but comfortable and well equipped, perhaps a little too small for two of us and a pair of Border Collies so our next stop here will be in Betty's Barn with the extra space. Being country folk ourselves we're quite used to sharing space with the odd spider or occasional mouse (entertainment for the dogs) but we never encountered any here, the place was immaculate. Try doing the shopping at Tuffins supermarket in Craven Arms, plenty of choice and value here. Please, enjoy your stay and leave it as you found it!

What a beautiful location!

I went with my dogs for a few days of peace and quiet and walks. The cottage was delightful and the location was ideal for walks and central for visiting other places in Shropshire. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would go again. The owners were friendly and helpful too and kindly returned money which I’d left in a book that I’d finished and left there. Wish I’d stayed longer.

Me sue and my daughter grace had a good time in your cottage, nice and relaxing.

We brought our 2 dogs with us as well we enjoyed the walks, everything was there what you needed couldn't ask for anything else thanks again sue and grace.

A lovely cozy cottage in a beautiful location.

Well equipped and very comfortable.

We loved staying at kites nest, beautiful cosy little cottage.

Definitely come again.

An imaginative barn conversion has created a lovely little cottage in Kite’s Nest (and two others).

The gardens of the owner’s Manor House are delightful, with a marked path to follow, which we greatly enjoyed until the mud defeated us!

Clean, plenty of room for two, good wi-fi, quiet location with picturesque gardens and locality.

Small but perfect for a couple.

Well equipped and decorated throughout and in an idyllic, super-quiet setting. Good WiFi and even a Chromecast to link to your phone for streaming! The owners could not have been more welcoming and friendly, giving access to their huge garden and woods. Hens roam free and there's a menagerie of friendly birds too. Cannot recommend Kite's Nest more highly. We'll certainly be back.

Kite's Nest was perfectly located to explore the Shropshire hills.

The cottage itself was very comfortable abs well equipped. It's quiet rural location was idyllic. We will definitely visit again.

Liked the remote situation and the collection of animals that we say around the farm .

A chicken came for breakfast most days and some of the horses and riders where training for an event ( very entertaining ) plenty of walks both near and far . Fairly easy reach to towns and villages including heritage railway ,a must for steam enthusiasts !

Lovely location with walking straight from the door to Wenlock Edge.

Footpath waymarkers bit hit and miss. Cottage looks out over horse paddocks. Farm has peacocks, turkeys, geese and chickens as well as stables. Holiday was very relaxing.

Very peaceful and quiet apart from the peacock!

Liked all of the hens, turkeys etc that roamed free range during the day. Good country walks from the property ideal for my dog - only used the car twice in the week. Property was well equipped, warm and comfortable. Just what I wanted.

I only marked it down for comfort because I have a bad bad and found it very difficult to sleep on the hard bed.

I have had this problem at other Skykes cottages. However we love everything else.

It had everything you needed for the 4 night stay we had.

The owners were warm, friendly and very welcoming. Being a working farm there were chickens, turkeys, ducks and peacocks wandering around which was lovely to see. A very peaceful and tranquil surroundings an ideal place to unwind and chill would recommend.

We had a fab holiday at kites nest, the barn was beautiful and had everything you could want and need, home from home, the location was lovely , quiet and peaceful and the owners were so friendly and welcoming, i would recommend this little haven .

A lovely little cottage - everything I needed and hoped for.

The owners were great and responded quickly with a couple of minor issues. Thank you.

Warm, comfortable cottage which is well equipped.

Added bonus was the chickens, peacocks, owl and watching the horses.

The location of these rather pleasant barn conversions seems the most remote of places.

There is as near to zero traffic as you will get. The only sounds in the morning and evening are the activities of the local hens, peacocks and horses. The lanes are very narrow and windy, but there is very little traffic, so nothing to worry about. Shopping at Craven Arms or Church Stretton for food is around 20 minutes away. Wonderful walking country on your doorstep and interesting places to visit such as Much Wenlock and Ludlow are both very close. Although we went at the height of the tourist season, it still feels relatively undiscovered as an area. The hostess was very friendly and interested. They live in New Hall which is a fifteenth century house, with extensive gardens and woodlands. They have created a rather nice walk for the guests to wonder around, which is an added bonus.

This holiday cottage was a delight from beginning to end- the beautiful location; the colourful cockerels, chickens and ducks wandering about; the splendid garden trails and wildlife.

A parasol for the picnic bench would have been useful during the warm afternoons and evenings.

Whilst the cottage is compact it had everything we needed for our stay.

It’s a little remote being a few miles out of Church Stretton but very peaceful, despite living amongst the chickens, ducks & peacocks (which just added to the charm). It was nice to have a dishwasher as this saved time on chores, though the dinner plates didn’t quite fit in!!!! Would have been nice to have a larger TV in the lounge, maybe even a smart one. The surrounding area is lovely, great for walking and cycling or just meandering the shops and parks of Shrewsbury or Ludlow. I’m sure we’ll be back.

The whole experience of holidaying at Kite’s Nest from our first contacts with the owner of the property was great.

Directions were clear and accurate. Once on site Kim and the family were very responsive to our needs. The accommodation was well equipped and anything we needed was facilitated. Thank you Kim for a fantastic week in Kite’s Nest. Paul and Joanne

the location beautiful gardens loved the animals

Great rural location, friendly owner and great walking.

Sadly I had broken my ankle and was unable to take advantage on this occasion, but the owner Kim provided a great footstool, which was a really thoughtful gesture.

The hosts were lovely and the location was perfect.

I look forward to returning later in the year.

Superb cottage, excellent surroundings and pleasant people to talk to, what more can you ask

My daughter and I loved the rural location, although may not be suitable to everyone.

The owner allowed us access to the grounds of their farmhouse which extend to 10 acres of natural garden and 100 acres of woodland, absolutely delightful and inspiring. It was so tranquil with only the sounds of the farm animals including a peacock family! Would go back in a heartbeat.

We had a most enjoyable holiday in this cottage - it was an ideal location for exploring the area and we really enjoyed being in such a beautiful location.

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The owners were welcoming and helpful.

We felt that the dish washer was superfluous for just two of us: whereas a washing machine would have been handy.

The situation was superb and a map of the area was unfortunately missing, or rather hanging on the wall which is not exactly the right format for walking. There was a vast array of tourist information leaflets which was commendable, but nothing to highlight the wonderful walks near to the cottage. Compared to other organisations this was good value for money and we knew that the owner was always available in case of problems. The issues we mentioned are minor since we consider this the best of the many holiday cottages we have rented over the years. I feel impelled to mention that the signposting .of footpaths in the area is appalling and caused us considerable problems, though we appreciate that it is nothing to do with you or the owners of the cottage. However as a major player in the tourist market you might be able to influence the local authorities concerned.

The cottage was delightful.

The surroundings are stunning, as is the local area generally. The private gardens to which occupants of the cottages had access were tranquil and inviting. The owners were most welcoming, and were happy to allow us to see their animals, of which there were many. We would certainly return.

Gorgeous little cottage, extremely helpful and friendly owner.

Lovely gesture of beautiful daffodils as a welcome gift with local biscuits. Glorious countryside and beautiful towns to visit. Wish we had had longer.

Lovely place to stay.

Stayed for 3 weeks inbetween a house move. The beast from the east had hit and we were given help to get to the accommodation :) the animals were great and the owners extremely helpful would recommend a stay here to anyone

Pleasant surroundings.

Very friendly owners and pets offering prompt support if needed.
