Such a shame I booked myself and my parents a week’s stay here after a very difficult few months.
The disappointment was very upsetting. Walking in to the property it was very clear it doesn’t get cleaned very well! A very unpleasant smell that we discovered was the dishwasher that had food debris inside that had gone rotten, the smell was that strong that I nearly threw up when I opened the door. I cleaned out the food debris and put it on the hottest cycle to get rid of the smell! We however didn’t use the dishwasher after as we were all put off by the smell! It’s advertised that there’s a balcony with amazing views yet on the door to the balcony it states you can’t use it due to being replaced! Someone commented about the balcony in March being dangerous yet it’s still out of use! Very disappointing! The place looks like it never gets a thorough clean as everywhere is full of cobwebs, grime and crumbs! The plug holes are absolutely disgusting full of hair and grime, mould all over bathroom ceilings! All windows absolutely filthy! The fireplace looks beautiful in the images but the glass is that blackened you wouldn’t even see the flames! As I wood burning stove owner I know it requires maintenance and it’s very obvious it’s not maintained! Everything has been done on the cheap, curtains that don’t even touch the floor in the kitchen and at the downstairs door! The fact that there isn’t even a brush or a vacuum to clean is ridiculous! The patio needs attention like everywhere else as again this was filthy! The cushions for outside again filthy! The only plus was the bedding looked clean but the rest of the property is very dirty! It’s a real shame as this property could be absolutely beautiful but it needs gutting and everything replacing! Hayfield is beautiful and so is the river but the property was a big disappointment!
An overall good property, nice bed linen, and a clean bathroom, some maintenance needed outside but nothing major
The cottage is in a lovely setting, if you sleep soundly, and can avoid being awoken every 15 minutes by the church bell.
I might have chosen elsewhere had it mentioned that. But we were there only 3 nights thankfully.
