Description

An absolutely delightful cottage, set five miles from the popular town of Bakewell, on the edge of the pretty Peak District village of Middleton-by-Youlgreave.

Accessed through a little garden gate, via the front patio, guests will enter into the characterful kitchen, which is very well equipped and light and bright with its high ceilings.

The kitchen also boasts the added benefit of a breakfast bar and cosy heating underfoot, making it warm and welcoming.

Two steps lead down to the cosy sitting room, with the focal point of a cream woodburning stove, the perfect accompaniment for cooler evenings.

This room is also very tastefully designed with a unique blend of contemporary and retro features.

From the sitting room, the dining room leads on nicely, with its large table where you can enjoy time together arranging activities for the days to come, or discussing the events of the day over a traditional family board game.

A bathroom completes the ground floor, and then upstairs are two bedrooms, both individually styled in keeping with the rest of the cottage.

Outside, the garden areas are a delight with two patios to choose from to the back of the cottage, and then to the front and side you’ll find a further patio and small lawned area.

Opposite the property is a working farm, and the lovely little village of Middleton-by-Youlgreave is a delight to wander through, surrounded by a network of footpaths criss-crossing this beautiful part of Derbyshire.

Within a short drive is the lovely little market town of Bakewell, with its wonderful choice of shops and eateries, and a traditional market every Monday.

A visit to the majestic Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall should not be missed, both within easy reach.

This is a beautiful little cottage for a small family or a couple looking for a rural village escape with a little bit of luxury.

We loved our stay here, and particularly appreciated the wealth of walking maps and books which helped us to find some of the best walks we had during the week.

Its so quiet and we absolutely loved sitting outside on the patio, watching the buff tailed bumblebees in the pink flowers near the table - we greeted them each time we went in and out - it was so interesting watching them We loved the "barn" door of the kitchen, which meant we could have it open even if it was too damp or chilly to sit outside. The only thing we would change would be to sand a little bit off the bottom of the bathroom door so it doesn't make scraping noises each time its closed, and to make the stair gates optionally removable for those who don't bring pets or children as in the small space around the bottom and top of the stairs they get in the way a bit. We would definitely return there. Very nice flapjacks in the welcome supplies - we didn't require the large size of loaf or milk but on another occasion I would remember to write and say that.
