Eboracum

We had a wonderful few days staying in Eboracum.

The cottage is beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and very homely. The location of the cottage is perfect for discovering the Peak District, and being able to walk in to the pretty village of Hathersage for amenities is a definite bonus. A highly recommended cottage that we hope to return to.

This property is in excellent condition, has all the facilities we needed, good communication with owners, and was in a great location in Hathersage.

Excellent property, internally designed and decorated to an incredibly high standard.

Spotlessly clean. Well-equipped kitchen and a very thoughtful Welcome Pack. Location was on the edge of the village, up a hill, with lovely views and excellent walks from the front door (particularly the Stanage Edge circular walk from the village), and an array of pubs/eateries to choose from in the village (all within walking distance), plus a couple of grocery stores for provisions if wanting to cook at home. Comfortable and relaxing garden furniture for the nice weather. Would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to stay in the area.

Lovely cottage, very comfortable and with excellent facilities.

Information and local resources (walking books and maps) were v useful too. Very helpful owners/family (about forgotten shoes!). Definitely planning to return!

Great property, very modern after the recent renovation.

Fantastic views in the morning with the sun coming in. Spacious, comfortable with good range of cookware and dining items. We didn't use the garden but can imagine it's nice in summer. Be aware it's uphill around 7-8 minutes from Hathersage main street.

Perfect for our family of four.

Well stocked kitchen, comfortable lounge and bedrooms all super clean and well maintained. Easily walkable to the village. Amazing views and great walks from the doorstep.

Eboracum looked fantastic in the listing and still managed to exceed our expectations.

The property was a perfect walking base, and in the cold of the winter, proved to be a cosy retreat after days in the hills with the log burner drawing everyone together in the lounge. Every detail had been carefully thought through and the kitchen in particular was very well equipped.

We rented the house for a few nights over Christmas.

The house was beautifully set with a christmas tree & decoratiins, plus there was a Christmas gift of panettone, chocolates & tin of biscuits waiting for us upon arrival. A lovely start to arriving on Christmas morning. The house was equipped with absolutely everything required to cook a Christmas lunch. The house is lovely and modern inside & very well kept. The owners were happy to liaise with us too, thank you. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone looking to spend a short break in beautiful Hathersage.

This property was lovely.

It was well-equipped, decorated & maintained to a high standard. It was ideally situated for walks & travelling around the Peak District by car & bus. In fact, we have already booked it again for 2026.

Eboracum is a very well presented and clean property (and was decorated for Xmas which was nice).

On the map it looks a bit far out of Hathersage but it really isn’t- just a 5 minute walk to the Main Street. Very quiet location with plenty of walking from the door and even more a short drive away. Would 100% recommend and return for another break.

The cottage is very clean, extremely well equipped and modern, with a very nice patio. It is in a great position with excellent walking routes from the door and plenty of guide books in the property to help plan hikes. It’s an easy, short walk to Hathersage and its bars, restaurants and swimming pool. A great place to stay!

We very much enjoyed our stay in Hathersage at Eboracum.

Only a short and hilly walking distance to the town. Some lovely views from the front of the house and a quiet location away from the trains passing by but convenient should you want to visit Sheffield and Manchester. Lots of sites to visit in and around Hathersage and plenty of walks in the Hope Valley available. We found the bus service easy enough to use and reliable which was an added bonus. The owners of the house were very accommodating and helpful. This was very much appreciated. The house and garden has been refurbished to a high spec carried out in 2024. We had everything we needed for the 3 of us to make our stay enjoyable and memorable.Thank you Richard and Alistair.

This property was exactly as described.

It provided the perfect place in which to relax as a family in between all the walks, cycles and swims we enjoyed in Hathersage and the surrounding area. It was clean, spacious, had all the amenities we needed, comfortable beds, great showers, and a fab garden seating area. Ample parking, and the garage came in handy for locking away bikes. The owners were very responsive and helpful. We’d definitely book again.

The house was well equipped including a lovely assortment of books on the area which we used to do some great walks.

The location is perfect to walk into Hathersage and further afield it’s also easy to get to interesting places quickly by car. A quiet and relaxing retreat for a holiday.

Well-equipped kitchen and details, such as dishwasher tablets, provided. We enjoyed the garden and BBQ very much. The house is in a great location, lovely views over the valley with its own driveway and walkable to the amenities of Hathersage. I also really enjoyed the selection of Peak District books on the shelf! We’ll be back. Thanks very much.

The property was perfect for us, it is very well maintained, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed and more.

The location is perfect for exploring the local area, with stunning walks from the front door. Would definitely recommend.

This is a beautiful property in a superb location looking over Hathersage which allowed us to walk into the village and access beautiful walks on Stanage.

The house was ideal for our needs and had everything we would want from a holiday. Although it was warm and cosy for our visit, we would live to return in warmer months and enjoy the lovely garden.

My two sons and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Eboracum.

The house was comfortable, cosy, and charming in a contemporary style. It was a treat to have the log burner going one particularly chilly evening and the view of the nearby hills was lovely. Absolutely what you would wish your holiday home to be, very clean, fully equipped with everything you would wish for, modern, very well situated for walking, I don't think you could criticise this home in any way 10/10 fully enjoyed every minute we spent in there.

Best cottage i’ve stayed in very well decorated Everything you need is there Wood burner was nice in the cold weather Kitchen was Top class Host was Very Accommodating as arrived early because of the snow Can’t Fault it at all would of gave more than the 10 if it was possible

Eboracum is in a perfect, quiet location with extremely easy access to numerous walks without needing to use the car.

There was plenty of parking space. We were delighted that the Hathersage restaurants are within very easy walking distance. The cottage itself is cosy and warm. We loved the comfortable bedrooms and soft carpet upstairs. The main shower was good (I didn’t try the en-suite one as I was in a different room). We liked the decoration choices throughout the property. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable. Eboracum is a really homely cottage and was the perfect choice for a small group of friends who wanted to enjoy long walks.

A lovely, recently renovated house in the beautiful Derbyshire dales.

The property has everything you could want for the perfect stay.

Eboracum is a lovely, comfortable, clean and well appointed house, set in beautiful surroundings.

The ample gardens around the house are well maintained and if you have good weather the outdoor furniture is a real bonus. There's lots to do in the area, with many attractions like Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Castleton and the Blue John mine (and others) nearby. There's no end of local walks: short, long, easy or challenging if you're so inclined. It's only a short walk into Hathersage, where there are plenty of eating places and handy shops, The house is up a short incline, but nothing too strenuous. We had a fantastic break there and can highly recommend the property.

We had a comfortable stay here, and the house is in easy walking distance of Hathersage which has a few pubs, local shops and a Lido (best to book online, especially in the school holidays).

Nice sunny garden, and the house had what we needed for our stay. Has a great TV and comfy sofas. The house has been done up to a great standard and we had a great stay.

It is clear that care and attention have been given to the renovation of the property.

The location is beautiful and the house has everything you'd need for your stay. However, there were several factors that fell short of expectations. On arrival a lot of the kitchen equipment was dirty and required washing before use. I would recommend a thorough deep clean of all kitchen items and some maintenance work on the dishwasher. The single bedroom is incredibly small and this was not clear from the advert. Only really suitable for a child or very short adult. The 09:30 check out was unexpected and seemed unreasonably early given normal check out from accommodation is usually 11:00. Throughout the property there were various strange smells, especially noticeable in the smaller of the two double rooms. The smell was a weird mix of stale/musty but also vinegar. The bottom of the stairs is too small and a design flaw in the property for a high footfall area in the house. This is accentuated by the shoe cupboard further obstructing a pinch point in the corridor. Although the house manual is explicit about guests being quiet after 22:00 in your instructions the neighbours were very noisy after midnight.

Lovely walks nearby, the property is in a quiet location and is very peaceful. We had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and would not hesitate to recommend it. Elaine

So clean, comfortable and spacious. We would certainly book again. The owners have been very thoughtful in providing all possible utensils required. Right down to a cocktail shaker x

Lovely newly renovated property, done to a high standard.

Not that it made a difference but I did not read the description properly. The second bedroom only has a shower & sink, not a toilet, not a problem for us and there was a second toilet downstairs. Would highly recommend this property.

This place was IMMACULATE.

Beautifully decorated and maintained. The kitchen was also very well equipped. Often with rentals the kitchen is quite poor but they had everything you could want and need. Very easy check in with clear instructions and an easy to follow guide for how to work everything. The house is up a slight hill which means the views are stunning. Very quiet and peaceful - was exactly what we wanted. Will definitely be booking again in the future!

Spotlessly clean with great facilities. Our only criticism was the usability of the sink in the en-suite; with the cabinet above it made it hard to use - just a minor thing. Would definitely recommend Eboracum though.

This is a beautiful house in a great location - handy for footpaths up onto the moors as well as Hathersage town.

The EV car charger was very handy for us, and using the QR code provided made it simple to charge - a great asset! The house has recently been decorated and was immaculate throughout with luxurious carpets and great facilities. There is so much to praise about Eboracum, but it is worth noting that the main bedroom en-suite is shower only (no toilet) which we hadn't realised in advance, so everyone uses the main bathroom toilet (or downstairs cloakroom wc). Also we found that the dining chairs, which are unpadded, are a bit uncomfortable after a while so used some cushions from the lounge. These are however only minor points and didn't detract from a great stay with excellent hosts.

I would highly recommend Eboracum.

The standard of all aspects of the cottage was excellent. The owners have thought of everything, managing to combine cosiness with a modern decor, done to a high standard. Add to that it's situation in Hathersage where you have easy access to so many beautiful parts of the Peak District. A really relaxing, enjoyable break.
