Absolutely faultless, It’s a very beautiful ,tranquil and picturesque spot.

Hosts very welcoming. Great base to explore the Peak District. Excellent welcome information pack with local pubs and places to visit, and handy dog walks . Stayed for 5 nights , It was a complete relaxing break . The hot tub was a nice luxury after some great day time walks. We will definitely be revisiting again .

Woodland Lodge was a wonderful place to come back to after a day in the Peak District.

It sits peacefully at the end of a long drive. You feel you have left your worldly worries behind. It has more than enough space for two. Fluffy towels comfy beds. The owners are around if needed but otherwise you are left to get on with your holiday. You have everything you need. Decor-wise, around every corner there is something to delight and surprise. We had a lovely stay at this beautiful cottage which had lots of character.

The surroundings are very scenic and a place we felt relaxed in as soon as we arrived! We loved the hot tub and our two labradors loved the garden and woodland area. It was a perfect stay and just what we needed. We hope to book again soon!

A fabulous property so welcoming and relaxing lots of personal touches that made it extra special,lovely outside area and gorgeous views so peaceful.

Owners were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. We loved it so much that we have booked again for our wedding anniversary in November.

Accomodation spacious and comfortable. In our favour, it is built of stone, which during the heatwave of last week, meant it was lovely and cool indoors. As we have an elderly dog, it was a lifesaver for him. Great hot tub and patio, with a secure grass area for the dog. The property is ideally situated for access to many of the tourist places, and is only a short drive to Sainsburys in Ripley. Great pub , The Dog, in the next village of Pentrich. Great hosts , Joanne and Ian, who respond immediately to any concerns. New shower a great bonus.

We spent 3 nights at Woodland Lodge and it was a beautiful break.

We live in Derbyshire so didn't have far to travel and will certainly return. The garden is safely enclosed and perfect for our Standard Poodle. There are woodland and meadow walks right from the doorstep and many other attractions a little further afield to drive to. The lodge itself is stunning, cosy and spacious - a real home from home. The Dog Inn at Pentrich is just a five minute drive in the car and we called in for a tasty lunch (it is dog friendly). Thank you Joanne and Ian for a wonderful visit to your gorgeous property!

We really enjoyed our stay at Woodland Lodge.

It is so spacious and wonderfully cosy. We felt really at home in this beautifully renovated barn. Great walks from the door through the wood behind the property, and a great covered Hot tub on the patio. Absolutely wonderful.

This was our second stay at Woodland, and we will be back.

It seems that post people who stay have visited multiple times and I’m telling you: there is a reason why. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous; cosy and spacious and feels like a second home. The bed is beyond comfy - super large king. The hot tub is brilliant and is under cover so we could sit in it during the wind and rain! The location is secure and safe and is close enough to main roads and A roads so we could visit lots of places in the Peak District. The owners are lovely people and leave you be to enjoy the comfort and peace of your stay, but are available if you need them for anything at all. We loved loved loved it and I’m already thinking of when to book again!

We had a lovely stay at woodland lodge.

It was the best place we have stayed with our dogs. The lodge is much bigger than we expected, very comfortable chairs and bed. A well equipped farmhouse kitchen everything you need. The large soft towels were such a treat for a holiday let! There were so many lovely touches that made it feel like home for our week. The garden is secure for the dogs and a lovely place to be. The hot tub was amazing. It was the perfect base for some great walks. The owners were so friendly and made is feel very welcome. We would recommend this to anyone as the perfect holiday retreat.

Such a fabulous place in a gorgeous setting away from the hub of busy life.

We were able to control the heating well with both rads and a log burner. The hot tub was lovely and warm, very clean and private. The hot water wasn't particularly hot from any of the taps. Ian came over the following morning when I msg him; it unfortunately didn't get any hotter and the showers were warm to tepid with the occasional cold flow. Very well equipped kitchen, comfortable and spacious living and sleeping areas. Would highly recommend.

Magnificent lodge in an idlic location.

Excellent break in front of log fire and relaxing in hot tub. Spacious accomadation. Friendly accomidating hosts. Only one minor point I would prefer be a larger more powerful shower head.

Woodland Lodge is set in a rural location with lovely woodland walks that belong to the owners that are for your use, The lodge itself is huge with a garden that is fully secure , you’re able to use the Hot tub whilst dogs play in the garden .

The lodge is fully equipped so need to bring extra bits and bobs. We have already booked again for next year .

Woodland Lodge is a fabulous place to stay near the Peak District.

It's extremely comfortable and well appointed but set within a rustic charm. We enjoyed our stay immensely and our only regret is that we only booked one week and not two.

Woodlands lodge has absolutely everything you'll need for a relaxing holiday.

Comfortable , clean and cosy. We genuinely didn't want to leave . The bed is like sleeping on a cloud the best nights sleep we've had in years . The views from the hot tub are amazing and the enclosed garden was perfect for the pooches . If we could give more stars we would . Jo and Ian have made a beautiful holiday home. We will definitely be back . A special thank you to jo for being so thoughtful and offering her flu remedies . If youre undecided about booking woodlands lodge don't be, you won't regret it .

Just returned from a fabulous 2 weeks at Ian and Jo’s woodland lodge.

It had everything we needed and more. Hot tub was amazing watching the sunset and relaxing after our walks ,real fire with enough wood for a few nights cozying up,massive comfortable bed.The dog pub which was a mile away served lovely meals,the bar staff and locals were very friendly,you can walk along the track to the Blue Bell pub which was more up market but not as friendly.Our dog Toby loved the enclosed garden to wonder around in,We loved this place and didn’t want to leave .

A beautiful sypathetic barn conversion amongst other like buildings originally built in the 1600,s.

Inside our lodge was everything you could wish for to compliment our stay. Easily the best accomodation we have had for years.

Absolutely fabulous, Woodland lodge is the best lodge we’ve stayed in.

Clean, spacious, very comfy bed. Lovely enclosed garden for our dog, which he really enjoyed. Great walks on the doorstep, not far from the Peak District, Chatsworth, Bakewell, Matlock etc. Fantastic hot tub too. Would definitely recommend. Will be returning at some point.

We really enjoyed our stay, so much so, we have already booked to stay in the cottage in the back yard!

Had a lovely relaxing stay, we didn't want for anything.

The walled garden was the perfect size for our dog and meant we could let her out without worrying she may escape. The covered hot tub was brilliant with the good old English weather, it meant we could enjoy the hot tub whilst it chucked it down.

An amazing place to stay with everything you need.

Very comfortable bed, a real home form home, could definitley move in permanently! Looking forward to returning soon!

Have the loveliest relaxing stay.

For anyone with dogs I would highly recommend, garden is fully enclosed,beautiful and walks straight from the door. Cooked lots and the kitchen was fully equipped. Bed was really comfy,the place is decorated beautifully. Area is really peaceful. Owners live on site but not intrusive. We will definitely be going back!

We had a lovely week at this beautiful, peaceful cottage.

The weather was exceptionally warm but the cottage was lovely and cool. It was so good to have the garden for our two dogs to explore knowing that it was secure. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

We were really happy with the area and facilities available upon our arrival.

The cottage has all that was needed for a comfortable stay. The owner couldn't have done more to make it a homely cottage. Staying over Christmas the cottage was decorated very traditionally which was lovely. Would definitely recommend and may hopefully return.

I would highly recommend woodland lodge.

The building is stunning and the surroundings are beautiful. The inclosed garden is great if you have dogs, not to mention the hot tub and the wood burner. I’ve just come back from a four night stay and would 100% go back. I would like to also mention the owners Ian and Joanne are really friendly and helpful

What a beautiful place to stay.

Very cosy, comfortable, and set in the most beautiful grounds. We were there for 2 weeks and could have stayed longer. We were made very welcome by Joanne and Ian - great hosts. Walks from your doorstep were a bonus and the hot tub was a delight - private & perfect for after walk relaxing. So many lovely places to visit within 20-30 mins car drive. Highly recommend a visit. Thank you for the perfect place to relax and recharge the batteries.

Truly the best week away ever.

If you’re thinking of booking this place, DO IT! Jo, Ian and their daughter were lovely- anything we needed was provided. The cottage was extremely cosy and clean upon arrival. There were clear instructions for everything. I don’t even know what to say as everything was 10/10 - the hot tub was amazing, the bed was comfy, our dog Kobe had the best week ever running around the enclosed garden. Kobe is a flight risk (he’s only 1 so his recall isn’t the best) and I felt safe with him off lead in the garden. The facilities were excellent; the kitchen was great to cook in with all utensils and kit provided. The bathroom was lovely. We got to do our washing and drying while away (which is a BIG help for returning home and not having to do it here!!) The area is also fantastic as well- so lush and green, nice and remote, plenty of places to eat out, good walks, nature. We will be coming back next year. The owners are truly running a fabulous place, just amazing. Thank you again- Amy, Ryan and Kobe (Liverpool)

Had an amazing 4 day break at Woodland Lodge.

Very homely accommodation with plenty of space but also a cosy feeling with the open fire. Did not explore the area much as just wanted the time to relax, read and enjoy the hot tub. Although had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Bluebell Inn

Woodland Lodge is the perfect wholesome and peaceful staycation!

We had the best 3 nights with our dog. It’s a great location for exploring the Peak District, brilliant walks, charming small market towns & delicious food surrounds this cottage! Woodland Lodge felt a home from home & we didn’t want to leave, we will absoutely be booking back in! The owners were absoutely lovely, so accommodating & even introduced me to Ollie and their 3 ponies that I had been dying to stroke!! A brilliant stay, wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else when visiting the peaks!

The cottage and hot tub we're amazing and the scenery beautiful. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating, and nothing was too much trouble ensuring our stay was comfortable. We had a wonderful stay at the cottage for a week.

What a wonderful, peaceful place and everyone is so friendly. We took a walk to the local village which was lovely and it was a great base for days out. We took our small dog who enjoyed the enclosed garden area and the walks of course! The cottage was very cosy with plenty of room, kitchen and bedroom was spacious and the lounge area was very comfortable. You will not be disappointed, great hosts, top property and lovely area.

We had a fabulous week at Shaw Wood Farm.

The lodge (Woodland) was beautiful, clean and so peaceful. Ian and Jo made us feel so welcome and the little thoughtful touches in the lodge were lovely. Everything we needed was there. We look forward to visiting again next year.

A FANTASTIC break.

The cottage was perfect with everything you needed to both unwind and explore the beauty of Derbyshire, knowing that you had a warm and cosy base to return too. Lovely walks right on the doorstep with Bluebell woods just seconds away. The hosts were brilliant, so friendly and helpful and if you get the chance, make sure you say hello to ROLO, there lovely four-legged friend. Now we have our own dog we only holiday in the UK and look for nice 'dog friendly' places to stay. This was the BEST YET! Thank you so much.

Our second stay at Woodlands Lodge, I am sure it wont be the last.

Friendly hosts, great accommodation, spotlessly clean great enclosed garden so Phoebe (our hound) could also enjoy the holiday. Restful and quiet everything we wanted, oh and the hot tub superb.

A quality cottage, extremely well renovated by the current owners in a beautiful location.

Anyone looking for a stay in this area would struggle to find better accommodation in this price range. Hosts were very friendly & accessible if needed, couldn't recommend more.

What beautiful place in a lovely area of the country.

Our accommodation was Woodland Lodge and was perfect. It had all we need and more for our stay over the New Year period. Ian & Joanne the owners are so lovely & friendly we loved the log fire, hot tub & our fur balls Marley & Storm loved the large enclosed garden to play and have fun. Would love to return again and this place is definitely on our favourites list. Thank you Ian & Joanne for an amazing break.

The property is beautiful we stayed for Xmas and it was beautifully decorated.

Wonderful stay in this huge cottage.

So beautiful. Tastefully decorated for Christmas. Very secure setting because of the double sets of gates. Basket of logs and firelighters/kindling were provided which was a nice touch. Cottage was spotless clean. Bed was very comfy but it is set up as a double so give them notice if you want singles. Hot tub is delightful but take a bluetooth speaker if you want to play music. Garden is secure for dogs. So peaceful except for the odd speeding train which you only hear from the garden. Only negative was no shampoo/shower gel. I didn't think to take my own.

This is the third time we have stayed at Woodland Lodge and each time it has been fantastic.

A beautiful setting, clean, comfortable home from home. Loads to do in the surrounding areas. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay, I'm sure we will be booking again in the future.

Idyllic property, the hot-tub was wonderful and the area so peaceful.

Woodland Lodge exceeded our expectations.

It really is homely , warm and peaceful . The owners have made it really comfortable and cozy and the garden and surrounding walks ( fields and forest ) are a delight. Everything in the property was perfect and the log burner and hot tub made it that bit more special . Although secluded and peaceful the proximity to villages , roads and attractions in the Dales is great . A definite must to visit - Thankyou Ian and Jo

What a relaxing stay in this exceptional cottage.

Everything was better than we ever imagined. Great layout and with the absolute benefit of the enclosed garden keeping Phoebe (the dog). The hot tub was also fabulous and a great way to unwind in the day.

Beautiful cottage, much more spacious than the pictures suggest.

Lovely location and scenery. Sitting in the spa, watching the sun go down over the ruins on the horizon will live long in our memories! Only downside would be noise, which came from 2 main sources. Firstly, the high-speed train line about 50 yards away, and second from the works on the next-door site ( and accompanying site traffic going up and down the lane ). It didn't spoil our trip though!

Definitely will come again. There is use of a freezer although not mentioned in the description.

This property was just perfect in such an amazing setting.

We have a 14 month old and two dogs and I cant recommend this cottage enough. Walks on your doorstep and easy reach of all amenities including local pubs within walking distance for food and drinks. We will definitely stay again! Extra comfy bed too and such beautiful original features and setting. Nothing was too much trouble and extremely friendly and helpful host. Beautiful private secure garden with hot tub, pergola and wooden swing. Truly beautiful and thank you for sharing such a beautiful property.

Outstanding property for a truly relaxing break.

The Lodge was spotless and had everything we needed for our holiday. The bed is so comfortable and results in a fantastic night sleep. Hot tub well cared for and clean with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Definitely on our return list…thanks for a wonderful stay…

Fabulous cottage.

Location perfect. Hot tub a bonus. Great secure garden, wonderful for the dogs, also great that dogs were allowed. Lovely walks on the doorstep, not far to the village if you wanted the pub. Really lovely little break for me. Would've been good to have a freezer......only to make ice cubes, but I'm just being picky because truly couldn't fault it. Xx

Every room Is to a very high standard. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into making their guests comfortable and have certainly made the place literally feel like you could Live there. Woodland Lodge is an extremely spacious one bedroom barn conversion amid beautiful scenery.

With friendly helpful hosts, a great hot tub and comfortable bed, we would thoroughly recommend this property, which even accepts dogs. Great place.

When we arrived we had to clean the fridge out because there had been a spillage of milk over the bottom of the fridge that had dried and needed cleaning before we could place any of our items in the fridge.

The coffee was stale, the cottage needed a good dusting, there was a dirty rug at the back of the living room which we had no idea why, the main bathroom needs more ventilation and got so musty from condensation mould is growing in there, you couldn’t open any windows around that area so when you went to sleep at night you felt you were breathing in damp, the bed is two single beds pushed together! The small toilet leaked, barely anything matched in the kitchen and all the mugs were dirty. There seems to be a problem with damp because there’s moss growing on the outside of the building and when it was slightly wet on the brick driveway you really had to watch where you walked or you slipped over. No robes provided for the hot tub, we had to go and buy some during our stay. Good location and a great hot tub. Only met owner and he was pleasant and helpful. Wouldn’t go back due to the damp issues mentioned.

Excellent cottage and location.

A great cottage which was clean and tidy throughout.

The enclosed garden was an excellent feature which meant that the dog could just wander in and out as he pleased. The location to the rest of the Peak District was good and not far from the main shops in Alfreton for supplies. Would definitely look to book this cottage again in the future

Beautiful, very well presented barn conversion on the owners property.

Lovely views across the valley from the hot tub. Very quiet, despite being near a railway line. We needed a quiet, restful week and we got it. The accommodation is beautifully decorated with lots of little niches dotted around. It had everything needed for a week away, (though could possibly do with an outside tap or sink to clean dirty boots and dogs). I would highly recommend this property

Absolutely perfect in every way.

The directions to the property are very good (do not rely on the postcode for Satnav!) The lodge is very spacious, beautfully appointed and comfortable. Kitchen is well-equipped (washing machine and freezer is available on-site but not in the lodge). Hot-tub is divine, perfect temperature and well-maintained. The garden is safe and secure. Finally, the hosts Jo & Ian are fantastic.

The whole experience was fantastic and the cottage is absolutely beautiful ,really enjoyed our stay it was really relaxing!

Fabulous old stone barn conversion with loads of space to relax.

Tons of character. Quality of all services (heating / hot water / shower/ TV/ wifi / external lighting / kitchen etc) was first class. Bed a bit soft and bouncy for our taste but that is very much an individual preference. Hot tub fabulous.... really professional installation with lovely frame / roof surround with built in "fairy lights". A real treat. Good walks through the woods from the cottage itself. Also up to the runed manor house (Maps / walk guides would have been a welcome addition). Very high quality food served at The Dog at Prentice (5 minute drive). Wonderful, relaxing stay

We stayed at the beginning of Sept 2021.

Ian & Jo were lovely hosts and our stay absolutely lovely.. There are loads of nice walks without or without a four legged friend and the food served at local (recommended) pubs excellent. Woodland Lodge is also a great base to explore across the peaks and Derbyshire/Notts generally. Great facilities especially the hot tub which was perfect at the end of a long day. Would definitely recommend Woodland to anyone & would love to stay again at some point.

Beautiful accommodation in a truly wonderful setting.

Ian and Jo are fantastic host's and the cottage was so clean and well kept. Amazing walks from the doorstep and a huge fully enclosed garden for the dogs to run and play in. We had the best week and would definitely book again. A perfect holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay welcome basket of goodies on arrival Jo and Ian were the perfect hosts we had extra visitors 3 wasps nests in the eaves and attic space l panicked as allergic to wasp stings but Jo and Ian were very prompt in getting the Wasp Busters in the next day !

So panic over , Loved the Hot Tub so relaxing l must see about getting one ha ha our Little Dog Dottie loved Sunny the pony and Meg who is amazing with her yellow ball wouldn’t hesitate in returning as soon as we can Xx

Lovely cottage, very homely and comfy

Lovely, large, stone barn conversion in a beautiful countryside setting, with all the facilities needed for a week in and around the Peak District including a hot tub in the private fully-enclosed garden.

The owners are very friendly, welcoming & relaxed. Although the cottage is south east of the peaks, all of the Peak District is within easy reach, and there are local footpaths directly from the cottage. We loved it & would happily return & will recommend it to friends & family.

Superb accommodation, the owners are friendly and extremely helpful.

We had a superb week at The Woodland Lodge.

Everything we needed plus “The Hot Tub”. Which was very much appreciated after our long days out walking the Peaks. Everything is maintained very well. Everything is very clean and Jo and Ian the owners were very welcoming. Location is great for visiting Bakewell, Mans Tor, Dovedale, Buxton etc but we also did two lovely big walks from the door step. Super dog friendly too. The perfect week was had. We will definitely be going back.

The homely touches and huge space really sets it apart from other similar places. Loved the fire and hot tub in the evenings. Comfy sofas and beds, great kitchen for preparing food and a lovely secure garden space for our dog to run around. Ian and Jo are brilliant hosts, very welcoming and friendly. They’re onsite and available if needed but not stepping on your toes! Really loved our stay and would book again in a heartbeat!

The cottage was absolutely stunning, there was so much space and the facilities in the cottage were excellent.

We especially enjoyed the hot tub (apart from getting out into the cold!). We had the dogs with us and the garden was great for them, it was enclosed so they could be let outside without fear of them running off. The cottage was lovely and warm and even the flagstone floors didn't freeze bare feet. The owners were very friendly and we got to know Sunny the pie bald cob who is very friendly. It was a wonderful break and we felt refreshed after our stay.

It was so peaceful even the dog chilled out The lodge was so homely , cosy & ideal for a relaxing holiday Near enough to local towns & villages for shopping trips to the local markets. Would recommend a break here to anyone.

We had a fantastic week away in this beautiful place and were so lucky to have lovely weather too.

Me, my partner and our dog Jake loved every minute of our time away, the garden was also fully enclosed meaning Jake could wonder round at his leisure Jo and Ian are so lovely and welcoming, Meg the dog is lovely and Jakey absolutely adored Sunny the Pony. We will definately be back again. Only suggestions I have is...umbrella for the garden would be welcomed especially in warmer weather and a dog poo bin of sorts, once picked up the poo would be nice to be able to place it somewhere. Thanks so much for a wonderful and memorable weeks stay in paradise xx

Lovely quiet setting, beautiful, comfortable accommodation. One tip: if you like ice in your drinks take an ice bucket as the freezer is in a separate, but close, building. We will be rebooking.

The owners were easy going and stress free,the scenery was beautiful,and have no doubts we will be back again next year.

The cottage is comfortable and well equipped.

The private garden catches the sun late into the evening and hot tub is perfect for relaxing after walking. Ian and Joanne are excellent hosts and on hand if needed. There is a lovely walk from the cottage through a wooded area leading back to the cottage.

The cottage itself was excellent, very clean and comfortable inside.

A great hot tub outside and an good sized enclosed garden. We went with a young dog who loved being able to sprint around the garden all day long. The owners were very friendly and available for any issues we had. Good location for a relaxed holiday too, a half hour walk to some nice restaurants or country pubs. Would happily recommend and visit again.

The cottage was absolutely perfect, it had everything that we needed and more.

The garden was lovely and the dog loved running around and playing it in. The farm was really easy to find and the owners were just the loveliest people and made us feel at home and welcomed straight away. We will definitely be staying again.

We had a wonderful break at Woodland Lodge - the hosts were so kind and they really had thought of everything.

The cottage was beautiful and so spacious, our dog Gus loved the space in the enclosed garden and the hot tub was a total treat for us. This was complemented with amazing scenery and great walks, even in the stormy weather!

Absolutely loved our time here,was just what we needed,the cottage was amazing added touches of Xmas tree and decorations was lovely.

A visit to Chatsworth house is a must,plenty of places to eat in Matlock but we didn’t feel the need as didn’t want to leave the cottage so had chilled days in with the bonus of the hot tub.

The cottage is on private land in a beautiful countryside, perfect for a couples retreat.

The furnishings are of high quality and very homely. There's plenty of things to do around the area in terms of pubs, sites to see and shops to visit. We were made to feel very welcome and will definitely consider returning when we come back to the area.

We have recently come back from a long weekend break here and had a fantastic time.

The cottage is beautiful and well looked after it had everything we needed. The cottage is dog friendly and he loved it. The owners Ian and Jo were lovely and were happy to help with anything we needed. The surrounding area is beautiful countryside where we could walk with our dog. We will be booking another stay here as well as recommending this holiday cottage stay to our family and friends.

What a fantastic cottage this is, if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing break this is the place to come.

The owners Jo and Ian (and their family) are all really friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. The standard of the conversion and decor is top notch with a lot of thought being put into the detail. The garden is lovely, private and secure for the dogs and the hot tub was great and completely covered so we even used it whilst it was raining! We will definitely be back
